The audio affects are so so but the concepts are wonderfully weerd, I particularly like the way that zombinc execs grunts are interpreted into corporate speak and the chief manager Phil who basically seems completely modeled on Bob from the song Find it Here on podiobooks<

Hi Gyro. I've made my preorder of the game sinse this sounds great and pirates are cool, indeed if you need any extra voice acting let me know as I am quite used to playing pirates having been in productions of Pirates of Penzance several times (I was actually at a vocal course on the roll of Frederic from Pirates just the other weekend).I just hope it doesn't have a glitch with my machine the way Airic does but I'm willing to donate and give it a try.

Re: Smugglers: Which one should I start out with?

@guitarman, there actually isn't a demo of smugglers 5 invasion sinse invasion is basically an expanded version of S5 Secession with downloadable extras and such. I'd myself recommend trying the demo of S5 Secession, and if you like it buying both Secession and Invasion, and if you really! like it the we love smugglers bundle to get S1 S3 and S4. Secession is however definitely where you should start, because Secession has all the major features of previous smugglers games but with the latest system such as the random abilities system (it's even now got background stories as of the previous update), and plays out the Secession war scenario, while Invasion takes place afterwards during the Jalkath invasion and has a lot of extras such as different ships, more complex enemy abilities and the carrier class end game after you've finished with the battleship. Secession is also a degree easier than Invasion too, which really does count sinse the da
ys of S4 where you could pretty much guarantee to win every single fight even against ships bigger than yours are long gone, now you really need to decide what your doing to win. So, my advice would be try out the Secession demo, - and if your using Nvda make sure your familiar with Nvda curser movement and the nvda np7 shortcut to skip between windows, and then go from there. Oh, and for more info there is My s5 podcast here on sendspace which hopefully gives a good introduction to S5 Secession.Hth.

Have they stopped making the voices available to other applications via SAPI5? I use Samantha in conjunction with APH Book Wizard Producer, which uses SAPI5 voices.

Doing bounty missions on dmnb, a quick guide

2015-03-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Articles Room : danny via Audiogames-reflector

Doing bounty missions on dmnb, a quick guide

How to do bounty missions on dmnb. This guide will simpply teach you how to do a bounty mission on dmnb, and hopefully survive it. If you have better tips, post them in the articles room.Suggestions before doing this activity.I suggest taking a crew with you along for the mission. At least an engineer just in case you have systems failure, but an extra phased beam operator or turret operator never herts, and also a helmsmen is a good idea just incase you need to make an extremely quick run away.Remember, the hire hull your ship is, the stronger the enemy will be, as their hull is less then yours by 1000 to give you a fighting chance of coming out.First, go to any planet which can accept ship buying and cargo hauling. You can either teleport to the planets surface or land the ship, either way get off your ship so your on the surface of the planet.Next, hit g and select bounty missions.Select your ship and the mission will be assign
ed, and you will be given information on the pirates current location along with the reward for shooting him down.Reboard your ship and if you are the navigator, plot a course on autopilot. Sit back and enjoy the ride, but always get next to a turret just incase. Now, as soon as you neer the enemy. Blast like you've never blasted before. My tip, don't worry about repairs on fusion drive and autopilot if they go down. They are nice amenities to have for your ship, but they are not required for the smooth operation of your vessel.Always go for engines and apu if either go down.Engines if disabled will slow your speed to 0 and you will not be able to change it via the helm console, and apu effects the over all functioning of your ship.If the apu goes down, your ship is rendered a floating coffin in space until you get it online again.Assuming you faught for your life and played your cards well with the bounty mission, the pirated starsh
ip will explode and you will reep the rewards for his distruction. Now, land and let the repair work be done to your ship.

Re: the Scan Soft Tom TTS Voice?

Steve, first of all the voice in question is no longer called Scansoft Tom. Since Scansoft was acquired by Nuance all of the Scansoft voices have been renamed to Vocalizer. There for the voice in question you are looking for is now called Vocalizer Tom not Scansoft Tom.As for the Vocalizer voices such as Tom you have to purchase the version for your adaptive software. It is no longer sold as a stand alone Sapi voice and is only sold as an add-on for your screen reader or similar adaptive software. So if you want a version for Jaws, NVDA, Text Aloud, those require separate licenses and must be obtained through your adaptive technology manufacturer.

Re: The minimum environment for using VC++ compiler, cl.exe

This forum, with all the knowledge it has, will not come close to what you need.  Setting up GCC is literally the absolutely easiest part of the project.  By an order of magnitude.  If you really want to do it and get past something that is only for personal learning, start by reading all the Intel manuals cover to cover.  Then go figure out what the minimum set of services you're going to need to have to get Espeak working is: audio, file i/o, console i/o, possibly loading of dynamic libraries but you can probably put that off.  Part of this process is going to be the implementation or porting of the entirety of the  C standard library to your platform.  Note that trying to leave threading support for later will probably make implementing threads nearly impossible. If you're dead set on it, you'll also want to get instructions on how to get a VM that can give you readable character mode output.  There are a few blind peo
ple around here who have done it, and I have met exactly one blind person who actually had a booting OS kernel with accessible output via a VM.  Unfortunately, I do not know how to find him again.Alternatively, just download the stuff related to this educational OS from MIT and save all that time.

@guitarman, I do not know if I'll ever rewrite the kernel. It took sooo much time to set up GCC and then write the code that I might forget the project altogether. I might do it again, if I get enough encouragement from everyone on this forum, and people are willing to support me, no matter my reputation. @techmaster20 Of course, I could always use inspiration for new ideas at sometime or another. I do think you can change and learn your lessons. @ethin You are very, very, very near the cliff and close to falling from it. You only helpt with a fraction of code. I was the one who stayed up all night laboring most at the server code carefully balancing between code. Reality software was not around in 2012, and steven's been around just after I developed the 2d version of the dm game. Second, you did help a lot with the website, but i'm always the one to write it. I'm always the one who puts the information together and very carefully might I add. And look what happens. None of the stuff you've hosted for me has stayed up longer than 3 months. The website might have been 4, but in the end that was destroyed. You've consistantly refused to even stay on dmnb to assist with administration dudies despite our cries for help. So i'm afrade, that i'm gonna
need to agree with severe storm steve here. Your falling closer and closer to the edge and your about to make that final leep off the cliff you are sooo worryed about jumping off of.

Re: Death match a new beginning, online roleplaying science fiction MMO

@Techmaster20, Napoleon Bonaparte was a man of war, of death, of blood, of fighting. He was a man of pure death and satisfaction. He loved wars, death, and destruction; order, chaos, and creation; and everything else that was war-involved. He wanted to achieve what we call a Utopia: A perfect world between the European islands and France. So he went out, hundreds of times, after the French revolution, and killed thousands, and lost still more thousands of people. He struck, again, in 1815, hoping to regain his order. This is called the hundred days, and lasted from 20 March to 8 July 1815. He finally was recaptured after The Battle of Waterloo, where he fought against the Russians, and lost, completely overpowered and outmatched. He died in 1821. Is that the guy you compare Danny to? Do you really think he is that type of man? Because I can certainly assure you that he is most certainly not.

So, you could write a 30 word, 80 word, 400 word, etc., but no more than 5000 words.@Severestormsteve1, All of your points are correct. However, several points are incorrect. I have helped Danny code games. I have helped him with many things, although he is the main coder. He came up with dMNB/DMPA. I just let it happen. I helped him achieve his goals. It was a difficult process, but I did. If you knew us back in 2012 or early 2013, you would've seen how much devotion I put into his games. I did a lot more than I do now. Danny has specifically assigned me to online stuff at the moment, so coding has been put on the back burner for now. Until he assigns me something different, I can't do much.I do not rule RS with a fist of titanium. I do not even rule it. I

Re: Death match a new beginning, online roleplaying science fiction MMO

OK. here's why. And please, don't take this as flaming, because I promise it's not meant like that.1. You're too serious. Dude, why the constitution? Why should people have to write 5000 word essays to get into adminship? Why are you deciding this and not Danny? Why have you control over all of that?2. hard work.Guitarman, I'll go ahead and say, your post rubbed me the wrong way about "all the hard work" ethin does. I'm in no way mad or hostile at you, because it had good and polite intentions, and it's your opinion. But personally, I don't think so: what do you actually do for reality software, Ethin? Design the website? What about code? What about testing...? Oh and most importantly, how about adminship on the games you "co-develop?" I've sat here on skype for 2 years watching Danny test, code, and stress about these games. Then I have seen his stress about the negative posts you put on the forum
s, and have even taken out my anger at you on him because he's the big boss man and decided to hier you. So that's the hard work you've done, Ethin?  And I'm not discrediting you; the structures of the websites you've set up have been amazing. But who's the cause of all the news updates and such? I know Danny's writing style, and most of them have all been, him!  And sure, you've hosted a dm server or two. But explain to me, who's done all the coding that filled the servers up with ships, players, and items and story?3. Quick conclusion jumping.  OK. so someone hacks the dm server. No one is even remotely sure of who it was, but the all wise and smart Ethin has the magic answer! Oh, it's Tyler chambliss! let's flood his skype with slander, cussing, the whole shpeal! And your reasoning? "Tyler's been known to do that in the past. He will dig and dig and do whatever it takes to get
what he wants."  Ethin, let me ask you. Didn't you the post the following in post 28 in the minimum environment thread in developers room?ethin wrote:I'm glad that someone is finally with me on this matter. One think I'd like to say is this: Do not judge someone by their reputation. Judge them by their actions and how they act towards others. Camlorn is not the God of Knowledge and everyone should know that. He only knows so much. Hell, I probably know more things then he, as I have written an OS kernel and he probably hasn't. It never got very far, as I had no idea if it booted or not. I've lost the source code, so am Unable to retrieve it, but yeah.4. your dictative nature. "you will not..." "do not..." "I said..." those are some common phraises in the book of Ethin Language. It seems, also, that you believe people should
respect you. Give me 4 reasons, as I have on this matter, why I should?  Oh yes. and how you like to tell people of things such as arrest, computer destroying programs... yeah. Gives me the impression you plan to rool reality software with a fist of titanium and staneless steel with a bit of iron mixed in.5. the flames and unrelyability!  God forbid one do something wrong on a reality software topic. If you do, you'd best believe your butt is getting slandered to the world wide web. Oh yeah. It doesn't matter whether or not you know you're supposed to do it, no matter. You broke an unwritten rull of eethin's, so you're basically screwed. Let's not forget to mention this, ethin. You don't even speciffically specify some of these "rules" you have us to follow on dmnb, but you can sit and write a >20 chapter constitution to the admins who should therefore already be well versed in high maturity and practicalit
y.I feel I needn't go on. This post's getting way too long. But once again, ag community, know that this is not, a flame. I put several revisions, and about an hour worth of thinking into this, because I felt something needed to be said.

Re: Steampunk Neverland - Zelda-esque RPG

Hopefully this game will avoid the most tragic exploration from previous games from You.WHat I mean, is scout / scanning system which is much more annoying than fun when playing. This is why I dropped Airik the cleric.Nothing more bad than making one step, clicking a button to scan, next step, scan, next step, scan. God, I can say a game like that is really long game. Why? ofcourse not because there's a lot of content or the game is long itself, You are scanning and scanning mostly wasting the time or falling a sleep. There's many more examples of great exploration systems than this one.I'll stay where I am now and i'll follow the progress.Don't get me wrong. There's many more examples of great exploration systems than this one.I'll stay where I am now and i'll follow the progress.PS.Don't get me wrong. Which is why none of us do it, or at least get far.  Mostly you're stopped at "I need a speech synthesizer" as a blind person, anyway.  You can do stuff that gets it off the ground, but if you ever want to boot on a real machine you have to solve the audio problem first.  And it is huge.I've never seriously tried, simply because getting to the point of even being able to write a file to disk is a hugely big project.  It's a waste of time to actually write it for any reason other than learning, but learning about it is interesting.  Getting to the point of something actually useful is probably on the order of 40k lines of code.  Getting to the point of actually competing with Windows or any of the other big OSes is probably on the order of 200k or 300k lines of code plus bunches and bunches of device drivers that you'd have to hack together from basically zero information because people like Nvidia don't care ab
out your project. So yeah, go write the next Swamp instead.

Hi Jyro, compliments for your work! I'm happy for this new project, for edge sound and for skout without  moving. I would ask how works the maps inside the level that you told. Is a map that you can view pressing a key, and you can see the nearby objects? If I understand correctly is similar to field viewer in Shadow Line, in which pressing f you can see a map of current area, and you can see walls, pits, object, ecc pausing the real game. It is the same? Thanks and continue on this way!

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

I originally suggested system-generated missions.  My thought is to increase the variety of difficulties, settings and mission lengths that get put up.  My very unscientific survey of missions when I was playing more was that you either had people soloing missions or ultra-maxing missions that made them unmanageable for low/mid-level players.  I'd like to see a wider distribution of mission types happen and while of course anyone can make any mission they like, in practice it's just not happened while I was watching at any rate.Aprone, I know you're busy, but I'd like to hear how you respond to the notion that everyone should get to play exactly the way they want, rather than working toward a more specific vision for the game.  I personally don't like the solo-heavy dynamic that seems to have eaten Swamp in the post 2.9 era.  And yes, that's me having a very subjective opinion and no I don't expect everyone to agree
with it.  I would like to hear Aprone's response, and as I have done before, I encourage you Aprone to build to your vision.  I think Swamp is now trying to be too many things to too many people.  A bit more focus will sharpen the play experience and allow more intentional design.

Aprone, this really has nothing to do with the surver exactly, but the game. In the readme, it says that items break when you get to 75% health. But for me nothing breaks untill i get to 55%, then i have a big problem. And this might sound annoying since people have been saying it (by people i mean thetruegamer), but do you think you could lower the breaking of items by about 2 times? Its just annoying when i get a good gun, like yestorday my mp5 broke. I didn't care as much as usual though because i used my ar15 asult riffle on birst fire and it was a awesome way to die. I was pinned against the wall with an entire hord of zombies after me from the loud gunfire, and it was awesome! About 3 of them exploaded every time i fired. But yeah could you lower the breaking, just a little?

Re: is there any way to play guitar on my computer and to record it?

Agree with post number 4. An effects processor is the best way to go if you can get one with a USB audio interface option. the pod hd series from line 6 probably has the best amp modelling and controllability I've seen in a multieffects board. Of course the problem with going through your amp into the computer's line in is that if you have a unique sounding rig or amp rig then you won't catch all the nuances and subtleties of the amp's tubes, cabinet shape, etc. Best to do either as Tward said and get a good microphone designed for recording guitar amps with full range, or use a multieffects processor and have a more than enough range of amp sounds to choose from. And as I said, Line 6 is my recommended choice, either their floor units which have great modelling and the most realistic I've heard when being connected through an audio interface, or one of their actual modelling amps like the spider series which all have USB audio options.

Re: Braillemon status update!

2015-03-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : Soul Keeper via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Braillemon status update!

For anyone who needs it, or is interested, the following is an explination of pokemon stats, EVs, IVs, and other such related stuff. (sorry for the long post):All pokemon have six stats: hp, physical attack, physical defence, speed, special attack and special defence. These are determined mainly by the type of pokemon, but also by its IVs (innate values) and EVs (effort values), as well as its nature. All attacks are either physical or special, apart from having a type. This "physical" or "special" attribute determines whether atk or sp.atk is used. It also, then, determines whether sp.def or def is used to tank (or not) against it. Speed determines how easy it is to run away from a battle, but also, who attacks first. HP raises the base hp of the pokemon.Natures are decided randomly, and they might be controllable via breeding, but I'm not sure. Natures give a 10% bonus to one stat, but lower another by 10%. There are some natures that lower and raise the same stat.IVs (innate values) and EVs (effort values) are what effect the levels of these stats. IVs are what a pokemon has via genetics. They cannot be altered and are decided upon spawning or, in the case of breeding, at birth (but not I'm great with pokemon breeding, so.. I'm pretty sure there's a way to crossbreed and potentially get a pokemon with perfect IVs but..).Where IVs set constraints, EVs allow you to move the stat between these constraints -- where IVs are genetics, EVs are training and practice. The maximum EVs in any stat are 255, where every 4 points of an effort value are equal to one stat point, rounded down, which is added to the pokemon's corresponding base stat. You have 510 potential EVs to distribute. Of course 4 doesn't divide into 255 evenly, so if you went above 252 it'd be a waste. Same with four into 510. This means That although the max is 255 you should only ever put 252 evs into a stat, and you will always have two wasted evs, so you really only have 508 total slots.EVs are raised by defeating a pokemon with the desired effort yield. Usually, their effort gain is whatever their highest base stat is. If you're interested, however, and don't get along with bulbapedia's insane bags of lag (which is my problem with it) I copied the stat yield list into a txt file:https://www.dropbox.com/s/lqkfgk9qlaa5o … I.txt?dl=0So all EVTraining is knowing what pokemon to find to get your pokemon the desired stats. They are, however, reversible: you can use berries. There are six berries, one for each stat, which lower the corresponding stat. These are here:https://www.dropbox.com/s/i53nnghvth4a6 … s.txt?dl=0I hope this is found helpful, but please don't come screaming at me when you want to pound your head against a wall because you lost track of your EVs. Also I don't know if the berries are in the game yet. Have fun braillemoning, and realize that you don't need to EVTrain to get a powerful pokemon. It's just something crazy crazy people do when they are crazily bored.

GuitarRig is a good program to use, but it's for presets more-so than recording.  I would suggest using an amplifier hookup, plugging it in to your input.Tward mentioned that you could blow out your sound card, which I would recommend you invest in an audio interface if you want a good quality.  The cheap microphone built-in won't cut good quality, just enough to listen to it and that's about it.Best Regards,Luke

At the time of voting, it was a swiss army knife, scissors, and a long screwdriver.  I guess I'd have a chance with any of those.  I'll admit this got me thinking.  If I had to grab from my right I'd be screwed, so perhaps I need to stash more weapons around my home.  I only have 2 somewhat vulnerable rooms in the house.  Even my bathroom has (crap, had, I moved it) a throwing axe behind the sink where it can be reached from where I sit.  Unfortunately I was in one of those 2 rooms when I voted.

Re: Heat Engine, a game engine for BGT games

Right now I need someone to help me designing the most important actors which will be used in the first real demo. If someone have the time to understand the engine (or to ask questions) and help me creating:- inventory- pickable objects (and weapons)- if possible, creating all that with the event system (not needed for the first demo)

Re: Programming Artificial intelligence in racing games

Ah I see. I'm trying to keep my AI structure code as flexable as possible to prevent complication. I'm assencially coding the AI structure from scratch, thus allowing me to customise it any way I choose: I'm having to manually right out every script. How will it deal with turns? How will it deal with obstacles? How the heck will it move, for instance.  But yeah. I thought I'd give this a go, just so enemies aren't 200% or 0% of the player's abilities all the time.

your_adventure alpha version 3 released

2015-03-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : pelantas via Audiogames-reflector

your_adventure alpha version 3 released

Hello everyone,After months of sweating, breathing very heavely and after a few headaches when I was wondering how to solve a problem with this game. your_adventure alpha 3 has been released.below i will post the change log, it is a pretty long one, around the 22 changes and additions so we hope you pick something to drink while you read this changelog:changes from alpha version 2 to alpha version 3- got rid of the displayed hp of your fishing pole. this isn't the case anymore so it will be a surprise when your pole breaks and becomes useless. everyone likes a surprise - gave the character information a complete overhaul and redisign. this includes a window where you can view your skill levels, where you can view your achievements and inventory. (more about the last two below)- added a few achievements you can achieve, in fishing, gam bling, combat and cooking.- added an inventory system in the character information.- added the possibility to cook your catched fish and gain experience in that skill.- added the possibility to eat the fish from your inventory, when you have the max amount of hitpoints you can't eat them.- added the tavern where you can cook the fish, rent a room for a small amount of gold and your hitpoints and energy will be restored and the game will be saved as well.- moved the gam bling kobolt from the dalgrim screen to the tavern screen. (game is still the same).- removed the healers tent, this one is useless with the tavern in it's place, thus helga needs to find another job - added a lot of new music, to give you that real rpg feeling. the music is donated by brian kurosawa, thanks a lot - moved the save option to the character information.- added an option in the character information so you can exit the game. right now you will get a warning that the progress will not be saved when you answer yes. thus first save the game when you want and after that you can exit the game fine. at first this was a exit the game in the dalgrim screen and it didn't gave you any warning.- added a system of seasons.- based on this system of seasons there are ticks added. every action takes one tick.- added your birthday. your birthday happens on a fixed tick and you will get a year older and you'll get a present.- changed the age system, you aren't able to fill out your own age anymore, now the game will generate an age between 18 and 25 for you.- when you reach the age of 65 you will get to old for adventuring and the game is over.- added a sound for the birthday's wheel of presents.- added an energy system, every activitie or tick that passes by, takes a certain amount of energy, when you run out of energy, every action you take after energy hitting zero will lower your hp by 1, so you can die when you don't take care of your energy- added a quest what is repeatable in the tavern.- added an seperate script to the game what resets the used variables back to default after exitting the game to start a new game.- updated the save and load scripts. Now i will post the link to download this version, in the upcoming weekend i will update the website:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/930 … ctions.rarwe hope you will enjoy this version.sincerely yours, visionproductions

I've found that the HelpNDock application is not accessible. I mainly prefer doxygen or some other documentation generation automation tool to do the work for me.

Re: The minimum environment for using VC++ compiler, cl.exe

From what I've learned, messing with the Linux kernel is going to be one of the most difficult things you will ever do. Writing an OS kernel is about 2,000 times harder. The Linux kernel is about 100-200 MB, and its completely ridiculus. They seriously need to re-write the Linux kernel and make it way smaller.
