At whoever asked how I bred Eevees. I was extremely fortunate to get a female Eevee on my second try at the prize corner. She is a treasure.  I now have a male Vaporeon at LV 46 thanks to her, and he currently knows Water Gun, Aurora Beam, Haze and Bite.  I stopped breeding them once I had little Eevees I could raise with the best movesets for each currently available Eevelution (meaning I had to evolve them before Lv 16).At the last person to post: The Route Pass exists, but cant be used yet. Thats probably (hopefully) going to be implemented in the next part. If Saffron wasnt so complex in itself, Id plead with Daigonite to include Fuscia City and the Saffari Zone in the next release. I really want a Chansey.

Short answer? No.Long answer? If you figure out flash accessibility and specifically use it which no one does, but it still depends greatly on the screen reader and the browser. It also depends on the phase of the moon. Dont do this, use HTML5 instead.

Well, it doesnt have to be queues. And in all honesty, allowing the game to play sounds directly isnt horrible. Im going to go into my current project a bit. This is advanced, and you dont have to do it this way. You probably shouldnt go this far unless your goal is an online game. But this is basically as pure as the MVC pattern gets, and its way purer than 90% of games do.So, some motivation: my long-term goal is online World of Warcraft for the blind. To that end, I want to see if things work before I go do that, and I need to test Libaudioverse at the same time. To that end, my current project is Shades of Doom, with a twist.The twist? Theres a client and a server in the same process, and they talk via a queue. Im not using threads, Im just ticking both of them. Specifically, they use 4 major messages to mirror object state and a bunch of smaller ones to tell
  the client what kind of important event happened. The client then does stuff off the important events. The server has no idea what kind of thing the client might do, just that it needs to post things like collision because theyre important.The server also does not know about the keyboard. The part of the server which talks to the client accepts and processes messages that are requests to set properties or do actions from the client. When this part of the server receives such a message, it makes whatever necessary changes must be made to the simulation before the next tick, i.e. setting the players velocity or spawning a projectile. The regular general-purpose simulation code then picks it up without any further special handling.But more realistically for you, playing sounds directly isnt horrible. Its not a bad idea to have some separate code that knows how to attach looping sounds to objects, but i
 f the projectile is responsible for playing its sound when it hits the enemy or whatever, thats not so bad. But, unlike sounds, theres basically zero reason to make keyboard and mouse handling be in the same place as everything else. Checking the is_jumping flag is much more self-documenting, and theres nothing saying that you cant make whatever method calls you need to make on the model of your game world in a key_down function. The other ironic bit of this is that often you only care about key_up events; this complicates things further when its the case. And then someone asks you for control remapping or you want to use the touch screen.As for if statements, Im not saying theyre evil. The evil thing here is code complexity. If you have to have complex code, you want to break it up into simple pieces as much as possible. Since the keyboard handling doesnt need to live with the game logic
 , separate them. You want to look at as little logic as possible when making a change. Im not going off OO programming here, Im going off general stuff. Theres a couple heuristics that new programmers are often quoted, but I dont personally find them too helpful; youll just break them because theyre almost impossible to follow in real projects. But if you want a concrete thing in your code to consider evil, how about these: higher indentation levels are more evil than lower indentation levels and longer functions taking many parameters are more evil than shorter functions taking fewer parameters.Beware, though, for you can take this too far the other way. Youre not even close to that point at the moment, but if you separate logic I need to see in order to make even small changes, you have the same sorts of problems for different reasons.As for patterns? i dont have anything specific.
 ; MVC is a thing you can arrive at on your own, but my knowledge of the name comes from Angular.js and the Apple Objective-c docs. There are many good books on program design in general and quite a few good ones on game design, but I dont have any Id personally recommend. Its a good idea, though; I got to do it by making all the mistakes myself. The one thing I do have thats useful is this page which has a good list of topics about most game development things.

I also have the music files for the red remake, wich (if they would be included in the game too) could give people the opportunity to have the music they like best. Im holding off the music cutting till I get any feetback of one sort or the other... In the meantime, Im going to catch up on some things I kind of left in the dust...All of the music in the game should be available as OGG files separate from the games data file, allowing players 
 to manually change them.

It depends upon what your looking for. King of a dragon pass and Star traders elite are fantastic and complex rpgs, while a Dark room and The ensign are slightly easier rpgs to get the knack of but great to play. While the choiceofgames and hosted games titles are great if you like gamebooks with good writing. similarly, Solara is one of the best casual mmorpgs available with some nice descriptions, while lords and nights doesnt have as good description but has far more if your into tactical combat against other players. In the actual audio category there are fantastic adventure and action games like pappasangre one and two, the nightjar and blindside, then for great action there is audio defense and sixth sense. If you want an audio adventure with less action but more puzzles try some of the ticonblu games like inquisitor or she noire, while if you want something more arcade style there is sixth sense, nebula, Ear monsters smackme, and zany touch. There
  are several card and dice games from dice world and blindfold crazy eights and solitare, to the very unique (and playable against other people), lost citties. There are probably some Im forgetting (there are lots to choose from and an exhaustive list might be long, these are just some of those from different categories that occur to me), so as far as games go for Ios there is plenty of choice, perhaps give an idea of what your looking for and wel try to make recommendations.

The first one you have is probably more applicable to side-scrollers. The second one is probably more applicable to an RTS. Theyre both right.A few things can make it simpler:Everything that can move has a velocity attribute. Every tick, whatever is in charge of movement adds the velocity to the position, unconditionally. You may then write code that plays movement sounds, but this code need not necessarily be in the movement function thats adding velocities. If somethings not moving, just put its velocity at 0.Nothing is wrong with calling the jump function directly from the keyboard handlers. This is an action which happens on a key, so theres no specific need to duplicate the check. Flags are for continuous states. Also, nothing stops you from making a version of the class that has key_down and key_up functions that look up what to call from a dict, thus allowing you to do something 
 like:self.key_up_handlers={space: self.jump}in your __init__ function. You can handle key maps with the getattr function if you want them to be externally loadable.You dont want to use the event scheduling unless you wrote it. It seems like a very good idea, but just decrementing counters is probably better. It makes aborting actions easier, and the game will not pause properly if you just schedule them and throw them away like that. One thing you can do is put it in the screen base class; the scheduling of an event records the number of ticks until the event needs to happen and the base class calls it when its ready. This lets you pause while jumping, for example.Unless the player moves forward a precise amount, jumping shouldnt handle movement. The player is either in the air or not in the air. The arrows still handle movement in that 
 case. If the jumps are precise, just play the jump sound and teleport the player to the new position instantly; no one will be able to tell the difference.Id strongly suggest not writing an engine right now. Id strongly suggest writing and releasing a game. Engines have very strong guarantees on compatibility. Once you do this and get people, youre locked into whatever you come up with. This is the same reason we havent had a bunch of Libaudioverse previews from me: once I encourage people to use it, Im stuck whether its good or not, basically for the rest of forever. If you think you will make mistakes or wish youd done something differently, it is best by far to do so in something disposable or one-off.

 to manually change them. Feel free to post full edited music, for example if you wanted to do Heartgold/Soulsilvers soundtrack or something.

Its not BGT. Theyre all about that slow. Sometimes you can get faster, and many players will usually be down around 100-200 MS even with TCP, but thats only for people near your server geographically and on good high-end internet plans.Basically, the speed of electricity (which I believe is less than the speed of light), bouncing off satellites, packet loss, routers needing to hold your packet in a queue while they run software on it, etc. Ping various web sites. Thats about the time with TCp. Its roughly half for unreliable packets, roughly and not always and with caveats.

I couldnt agree more with post 31, themadviolinist.Ive been dreaming of a Lone Wolf 4 release for ages now, and I surely hope it has more then just bug fixes. Back in the day a lot of ideas were kicked about like perhaps David would set up a more [true to life] world war II sub. Namely the gado class sub. Where there are not only the standard four torp tubes in the bow, but six torpedo tubes in the stearn.Another idea kicked around was to add a second gun on top of the sub as well. Maybe a machine gun, which if you read into it, there truely were some subs that had that kind of artillery on board.Just curious to see if any of these ideas are in the making, or was it all hot air. With a lot of the tougher missions written by thomas Ward and Don voils, theres really a need to have more torpedo tubes, and a faster gun for low flying planes.Hope that the word of another LW version isnt just a myth.Keep up the great work David a

Anyways, to answer your question severe storm steve, you can do bounty missions with any ship which has weapons. Id personally suggest them with a battlecruiser or hire, I intend to try and get through one with a dwarf corvette layter.

Im not saying you cant. Im saying most players. I have been very careful to use the word most players.I am on university internet and therefore get 2 or 3 MS to Google who, judging by this number, probably has a datacenter near me. If youre on a university network, youre most likely on the very backbone of the internet. If you also ping places that are on the backbone like you are and if theyre geographically close, yes, you can get some very impressively low numbers.But most people arent on this kind of internet, let alone most blind people. Most blind people probably dont even have top-of-the line home internet. And Im pretty sure that any project youre considering cant afford to buy space in the best datacenter you can find, let alone put a server in every country. If you plan to be playable around 150-250 MS lag, youll hit a whole lot of people. I
 f you plan to be playable around 30-50 MS lag, youll hit very few people. If you geographically limit the game, you will hit few enough people you might as well not bother.And if you assume you can always and only use unreliable packets for everything, well, meet the people with 75% UDP packet loss for whom you probably have to switch to TCP or purely reliable UDP if theyre even going to play at all.Ping to my VPS in a datacenter in Denver from my highest-end-possible college backbone internet in Florida? 70 MS. It would not be possible for me to upgrade my internet to this level without inordinate amounts of money if I were in my home. It would not be possible for me to upgrade the network situation of my server much if at all for likewise inordinate amounts of money. If you can shell out $100 or so a month, you can get an actual private server in a datacenter and etc, but few of us have that and youll need another $100 or so a 
 month to get your home internet up to an equivalent in most places. Some places like Kansas have gigabit internet for reasonable prices, but these are few and far between and they still dont mean that your round-trip time is low.Im sorry to disillusion you but yes, if you do this, most players will be a quarter to a half second behind. Shared timestamps are not possible. Ive looked into that too. If you do something like SoundRTS it barely matters. If you do something like Swamp, you need to put all sorts of stuff in place to make sure the game remains playable. This is where a lot of the cheating that Swamp does in regards to whats synced and whats not comes from.

I dont know what youre doing with events, but either theres a major bug that I havent found out yet, the programming guide is lying, or youre doing something wrong. Have you read this section of it?As for the variables, well, yes. There sort of is. The key codes are integers. You can go back and forth if you must, or just deal with it. If you do go back and forth, you will be dealing with some very deep Python magic involving dir, getattr, and other stuff.Also:from pyglet.window import keywill let you just do key.SPACE, etc. Personally Id just deal with it, but if you *really* need strings I can give you a ten-line function off the top of my head that will give you a lookup table.And as for your first question, Im trying to decipher speci
 fically what you mean by implicit. But window is an event handler and youre only going to want one. So create one and use push_handlers with your screen objects and pop_handlers to get rid of them. You can subclass it, yes, but that only works if you dont need multiple levels of events (or possibly even then, but I wouldnt want to reason about the semantics). Windows are not screens. Maybe think of them as portals: theyre where input enters your system before your code even has a chance to touch it and, if youre using graphics, where output leaves it after your code is done.

OK, that is a little more of what I normally would do, have something like:def on_key_down(key, mods): if key == player.key_list[jump]: player.jump()That way we cut out half of the code for the model tick function.I have been reading pyglets API and code but I am a little lost on why they did 3 things:1. Why in the world did they go implicit on the pygame.window.Window class? Its really disconcerting. Their event EventDispatcher seems to just be one screen and it is not really built for different screens. Especially if you would like lots of moving on and off screens. It is very implicit. Im considering making a little function to make the keys strings, but if there is a good reason for the variable, I can keep it.What I was thinking is if someone wished to remap key.SPACE to a g or something, it would be really easy to say that key.SPACE = the number for g.Is there a good reason for this?

Im sorry, but that doesnt make much sense to me.Maybe Kickstarter sets a hard one-month limit. Thats fair enough. But couldnt the devs have just made four or more smaller projects instead of going all-or-nothing trying to get nearly thirty thousand pounds from a pretty niche mmarket in a month? Thats either a miscue, or Im overlooking something obvious that someone here knows and can inform me of.Either way, it seems kind of silly to me; if (when) this fails to meet its goal, all the money will have been for naught. No one gets goodies, developers dont get money, and theyre right back at the drawing-board. If theyd done a much smaller goal and met it, and if theyd mmade clear that they were going to have to do this a few times, it would have given said niche community awhile to hopefully muster more support. Perhaps Kickstarter wont let you crowdfund more than once for any given project; I dunno.

Yeah. Pyglet does lazy imports. I consider this stupid. You can import pyglet.window and you can import pyglet.app but, honestly, its pretty clear from the context that something is going on and you should look it up. Still, meh. Really bad practice.As for pyglet.app.run, thats standard. Its the event loop. Same as wx.app.MainLoop. Anything that needs to use the event loop is attached, i.e. everything in the whole library. You will see this in at least Wx and twisted, and if you did your engine on top of Pygame youd probably have something thats the same in all but name.Do not forget:import pyglet
pyglet.options[shadow_window]=Falsewhich must run before anything else is imported from Pyglet if those of us using Intel graphics drivers will be able to reliably run your stuff. Dont ask, if you want details, I should have linked the thread earlier. And before you run for Pygame, the broken thing in Pygame is modifier keys which can get stuck in odd states, particularly if the user happens to be holding one when the program starts; this plagues SoundRTS to this day.

GAH WHY.Im playing the Axis and Allies map in Age of Warlords, and I BLOODY CANT KEEP THE DIPLOMATS ALIVE LONG ENOUGH TO GET EVERYWHERE. Ive tried getting my Maven to give them both the ability to fly for a bit, and that got one of them as far as the Centaur clan at the top left of the map, so he managed to get four places to sign up, but by the time Id gotten him there, there was a friggin troll and other really nasty enemies right around that area, and I tried summoning the centaur cavalry and shielding him as best I could, but he was one step away from the next stop when they killed him. I have restarted this map at least five times trying to get as far as possible with my diplomats. The Diplomacy skill says Bards can use it too, BUT ITS NOT IN THEIR SKILL SET. i CHECKED. As if that wasnt bad enough, the lower right portion of the map has been over-run with hounds that kill eve
 rything before I get a chance to kill them off. There must be at least twenty of the wretched things and i DONT KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THEM ALL ITS FREAKIN RIDICULOUS SOMEONE H E L P.I have one living diplomat in the high elves forest, but at this rate I dont know how long hell last. Some hag and her cronies killed my lightning mage before he could do more than blast one of those stupid hound units that decided to cross the bridge and have at me. I am this close to restarting again and Im starting to really hate this particular map.

Remember guys, this is a huge Wright brothers moment for us, so what ever you do, give them feedback and advice, but for heavent sake be kind. We dont want to push them away. Im going to suggest that they fix the screenreader so that a games menus are read aloud for you as well as text on the screen, such as in a game where characters speak or other things like that.

Im going to give my 2 sence on the matter and please listen, this wont be flaming one bit.I had loged into ultra power to have a good time, mayby kill a few people. Mason and I were having a good chat and talking. However, one thing which grately annoyed me was being oneshot all the way from where I was, which annoyed the crap out of me.Another thing. I was simpply standing their at the sz, chatting, when all of a sudden, I got disconnected from the server for no apparent reason. When I attempted to reconnect, I got disconnected again, before I even had time to read the chat messages or ask why I was disconnected. Apparently devin was the one doing this, fortunitly this was delt with. I do think ultra power is a good game, and if fixt up a little, could be a blast to play however, their are somethings which need to desporitly be balanced out, not letting admins level out to that extremely high level being one of them. More over, when I come on to play, I do
 nt want to constantly get oneshot all the time. It makes it completely unfair and I was unable to even get in any kills.

Possible? yes. But really it depends on you. If you know one language well, new languages are something like a few hours. If youve never mastered one, it might be a struggle because youre trying to master programming at the same time.In this case, be aware that purebasic is essentially C made pretty. Not even C made more sane, just C with some nicer syntaxes, a less powerful optimizer, and some good built-in libraries. This is about as different from Python as one can get without going into what is known as functional programming. To that end, maybe you can. But its harder than, say, Python and Ruby. Or Python and C#. Or even Python and BGT. The combination in question is about as diametrically opposite as you can get.Id not try unless you dont have a choice. Learn programming, then learn languages. Do not fall into the trap of Danny used Purebasic for DMNB, so i

And the answer is yes, Its not super desirable, but I nevertheless do it all the time. And I dont mean switching back and forth every half hour. There are days I have Python in one window and C++ in another window and theyre in the same project. Reasoning about program logic is pretty language-neutral, the rest is just details. The real problem is that you learn how to reason about program logic by mastering a programming language in the first place, so until youve done that picking up more can be a challenge.

Does the model queue events onto both the views queue and the controllers queue?Then both the controller and view run through the items in their prospective queues either every loop (for view) or when an action is pressed (for the controller view)?BTW, what textbooks do you know of, or websites do you know of that describe different user interface architectures like model view control?Also, the different ideas behind the screen handling?Ive just been making stuff up at this point which is why the design is pretty bad. They were the first thing that popped into my head... They were also what the example games Ive seen use, but all those were from pygame, explaining graphics.I actually never have used BGT, Ive just been approaching everything from what I knew of the game loop in pygame.Ive asked questions in different places, but I got back responses that either made no sense or were worse than what I was
  using. So I guess It was because my whole design process was flawed that we werent understanding one another. Thank you for noticing and explaining why my approach was flawed.I think the reason why I have never put out a game is because every time I think Im ready, I will start, then find out that it is 100 times easier to do what Ive been doing. The problem is that it would be easier then to rewrite the whole game from the ground up and I wasnt married to the game idea. Putting out a library like this was a way to place into concrete the ideas I already knew were the way to do things in the best way. I wanted people to then do what you are doing in saying either no!!! we do it this way and this is why or yes, this is awesome! can it do this now...It is possible to write shades of doom in just functions and if statements, but it would just be incredibly huge and unwieldy. (I think it would be like writing shades of doom in
  C). When I first learned if statements, I wrote a black jack game in just functions and if statements. It worked, but because there were no loops, Im pretty sure it wins the record for the worst python code imaginable.Do if statements fall under the category in OO programming as a necessary evil? People say that they are bad, but up to this point I didnt understand why. Now I see that if statements make the code more and more unreusable.
