Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning
Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning Greetings all! For months, you've asked. It took me a while, but the new, much easier, console system is fully up and running. From now on. Consoles will have names attached to them, like captains chair, etc. However, these will purely be for decoration and as a navigational aid. Each console now has a selectible menu of destinations. For exampple. a captains chair might have navigation, autopilot, sensors, and status on it. A first officers chair could hold the tacticle controls on a vessel, for exampple, rail gun, plasma cannon, and warhead launcher. Both of them could shair the status function. Yes, that's right. No more running across the bridge or such to get a status report, or to get a sensors scan. If your manning a console that has the status or sensors functions, you can use though's functions. This will hopefully be more starship like and help you not only get into the roleplay, but will also cut down on having to run back and forth. This means that smaller ships will have less noise because their will only be the pilots chair for controling everything, including engineering. Since this system is still in its extremely early infancy, the old console type system is still supported and can be used, but this new system is ready to use and will be going out to new starship classes everyware. In order to get it, sell an old ship you have and rebuy it, and enjoy easier console management. To get the new build that supports these functions, use the check for updates option in the main menu or go to this link https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/266 … bsetup.exe URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=222179#p222179 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Audio Interfaces and Systems
Re: Audio Interfaces and Systems Hmm, difficult question. It could stand to reason that having one point higher than another would suggest a slope, but the problem then is with end points being "offscreen" and going undetected by the player, potentially confusing them with pits. One solution might be to clip the end point of a slope to the nearest edge of the screen, so for example if only half the slope is visible on screen, the end point would be clipped to the edge of the screen halfway along the slope. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity
Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity You guys appear to be very lucky. In my country the laws for visually impaired people are not really good. The infrastructure is dam bad and you can't move, even half a mile on your own. I also remember that local busses do not require blind people to pay when they take the bus, but if the blind person himself is able to get on it, they are the most fortunate people in the world, since busses are very crowded and people are not very well-educated, or simply do not know how to act with blind people.I do not usually get on the bus because I travel by my personal Car and that is very good, but not all people have this opportunity. Some do not own a car, or others do not use it frequently, simply because busses are cheaper. Also, I use my car only to travel around this city, because as I said, busses are cheaper and you do not need to spend too much to go to another city.I remember some years ago we didn't need to pay the whole amount of our electricity bill s, but only 20% of it. But they changed the law, because many people were abusing and they decided to make up for it by adding some more money to our monthly pension or however you call it there.I also don't like the behavior of our associations here. They rise the extent of the disability of blind people so much, hoping that any big businesses will donate to us so as to make any projects for blind people. I don't really think that we are so much disabled as they consider us. There are so many people here who, if they see a blind people for the first time, they think he or she can't do anything. I remember when I started using laptop at my new public school three years ago, many people got stunned how I could do it. But for them, using a pear of small headphones didn't make sense. They didn't have any ideas what screen reading technology is. So they kept observing me all the time the first time I used my laptop. It's true we are disabled, bu t not completely. We can work, we can learn, we can study, we can lecture. So I don't think that disability is very big in this case. It's problematic, but avoidable in some ways. Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning Hi, danny. So, what I was thinking earlier, heres what I think would be really cool to resolve the issue. I mentioned it before, the control console idea. Weather you like it or not I have no idea, but I think it would be cool. Basicly in the galactic network, you could click order controller console. You'd enter the coordinates on your ship, whare ever you want it to be built. Then enter a console you want to link too, it could either show a list and coordinates or you enter the coordinates. Then once you were done, you'd confirm your like 1 cred payment, cause after all building that and running wires threw your ship ain't that cheap. Then, you could add links from your controler colsole to other consoles. So basicly though you'd still have the option to move all around, if the consoles were linked together via the controller, you click enter on the controler and select the console you want to remotely use. And then that colsole menu would just appear up as normal, with all that consoles controls. Another thing i'd recommend is a security door console, that would be the same as the controler, but would work with doors. You'd link different doors, and than, you couls use that console and by clicking on one of the doors on the console, it would perform the same action as pressing enter on a door. It would stop all needs to purge if you did this, well if you could add a linked thing to the consoles. console ; all the normal things link x y z link x y z link x y z endconsoleIt's just an idea, that I hope helps. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! The thing is with the new inventory system is that is't not even called an inventory. You have your left, and your right hand, and that's it. You can get a bag or what ever, but dragging 10 pounds of weight would suck for you and would take loads of energy away every step. And this will make way less killing because in order to kill you must be constantly prepared, and now you won't just have a paradice of things to lug around easily. You will be able to make bags with string, grass, etc, plus you will come with a dearskin bag, but basicly you will really need a campsight and a way to store items wmvmvmvmvmvmvmvmvmvmvmbmbmbmbmbmbmbmbmbmbmvbmvbmvmbvbmvbmvbmvbmvbmwvbmwvbmwvmahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning
Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning Greetings. So i've begun designing plans for a new console system. Since people have braught up a good point, that of consoles are too wide spread, i've thought of the following, put forth your thoughts on the game or here. The new system would work as follows. Instead of having helm, sensors, etc spread across the bridge. Each console would have a name, like captains chair, navigators chair, all that. The names would mainly be their for decoration. When pressing enter, you'd get a list of functions that console supported, for exampple navigation for helm, fusion drive operation, etc, each ship could support a varieing array of functions this way. The downside to this new system is, in all likely hood, it would require a purge since it would render all previous ships useless unless I implement compatibility for older vessels and for the older console system. The upside is it would decrease having to run across the room all the time, and would allow us to intigrate s tatus and all that into more consoles instead of having a central status console. What do you all think, and should I go ahead with this. Let me know your thoughts here or on the game. Re: Accessible radios?
Re: Accessible radios? One of the features of this radio that I use a lot is the ability to record programs to cassette pretty much the same way you'd program a VCR to record a TV program for watching later. All you need is a cassette recorder that has connections for a mike with a pause switch, and a cable that you can get from Cobolt or any reasonably good electronics store. You program the radio with the day, time and band and frequency of the program you want to record, put a cassette in the recorder and put it in record mode (usually press the play and record keys). At the proper time, the radio turns on tuned to the band and frequency chosen, and starts the recorder. Since its directly connected to the radio, there won't be any ambient sounds on the recording. Later you can use the recorder to play back the recorded program, or use a separate player. Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning
Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning Greetings all! Version 1.2 is released! The changelog is as follows. Version 1.2Fixt that long standing glitch where turbocar sounds would abruptly halt in the middle of typing.Changed power management to just adjust sensor range seeing as the other 2 options were never implemented in the firstplace.Implemented, as per popular request and after menny hours of thought, a central control console for basic ship functions such as status and such, intigrating helm and autopilot and all that. Do note, that these may still be spread out on larger ships, however these should be much easier for smaller ships.Added the ability for players to be inducted into factions.Implemented the start to new faction system! Currently you can create factions and disband them.Added in new invasion system, both client side for admins and server side for players and admins alike. Get ready to fight hords of pirates in space, muahahaha.Updated some strings in the PM reply feature. Also, when hitting 'R' to reply, you will now be told who you're replying to.Per the suggestion of riddle, it is now possible to change how quickly your ship accelerates and declerates from helm. Note, hire values will damage your hull.Fixt bug that caused the probe sound to play when accessing the message boards.Per request of everon, the r key now replys to private messages you've received. You can get it at the following link or via the update option in the main menu https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/266 … bsetup.exe enjoy! Oh, i'll begin fitting the new control console to small ships, light freighters mainly. Just sell your old ship and rebuy it and you should have the new system as aposed to the old way of control. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity
Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity A constitution , or at least our constitution, doesn't help all that much because it says nothing about treating disabled people equally. For those that have them, audio announcements of upcoming stops on busses are there because most people, including sighted passengers, want them. Not because there's a law that says they are required. The FCC, similar to your BBC, though they don't operate any radio or TV stations themselves, requires that the major TV networks provide a certain amount of programming with descriptive audio for the blind and visually impaired. They must think that because wee can't see we aren't interested in being entertained, because their minimum works out to about four hours of programming a week. The networks, not the FCC, decides which programs to provide descriptive audio for, so they pick shows that don't need it, so they only have to do a very minimal amount of work to comply, and the FCC is happy with that. It's up to the FCC to decide whether the networks are in compliance, not the blind and visually impaired viewers. If it was up to the viewers, none of the networks would be in compliance. In the early 90s, the American Disabilities Act was enacted to provide equal access opportunities to people with disabilities. Mostly it helps people with physical disabilities, like people in wheelchairs, it does almost nothing for blind or visually impaired people. I had to go to the offices of the social security administration to apply for disability benefits. I told them I was blind and asked if someone would be available to help me get to where I needed to be within their building. They said, "no", they said the law requires that their building be equally accessible to everyone, if you need help finding where you need to go, you have to provide that yourself. To me that's not equal accessibility, yet they are considered to be in full compliance with the law. While I don't approve of it, I can't fault the entitled attitude that many of the blind and visually impaired, as well as other disabled people, and other minorities, adopt because, society in general seems bound and determined to squash them and their rights any time they get the chance. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity
Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity Hi.I couldn't agree more. I have DLA and ESA which is great and I'm thankful for having it. But! The laws in the UK are really not good when it comes to disability. Yes you can get things for free but something I've never liked is this Disability and blindness I'm not sure about people with hearing problems, but blindness and other disabilities are usually in the same box as elderly people. Which is not true, you can be young and have a disability of course but the people who make the laws, want to put you in places with the elderly or treat you as if you're stupid. I might be looking in to going to a place for the blind in a place called shepards bush, and yes it's for elderly people, but do I really want to do that? No. Will I have to in the end? i honestly don't know but the way housing in my area is going I think I might. I was refused housing due to the fact that I already live with my parents. I can understand that, oh I don't like it; but I understand it. What really gets me though is this; on the form online that you have to fill in, it says do you have a disability? So i ticked it. I wrote I'm blind and described my condition. On the letter that refused my housing form, it says disibility? No. Which is stupid because I'm blind. I didn't fight back then but after this massage corse I'm thinking about doing that. Although I've been told that Ealing council won't help anyone under the age of 25 now, which is the stupidest thing I've herd but it doesn't surprise me. So I've got 3 more years to go until i can get help again. So who knows what will happen in that time. Re: Accessible radios?
Re: Accessible radios? It is true that the tunein app is a really good streaming app, but not every station is on it. I have to also use Ihart and other apps for most if not all of my streaming needs for the IOS devices. As for long wave, I haven't yet found a station of any kind on the longwave frequencies on this radio I bought before may. Longwave seems to be beacons where I am at if I find anything... Sometimes I wish I brought this topic it up before I went shopping, but I already said that here before. I didn't know about that one talking radio before I bought it... Anyway, I will go take a look at that TXT file and see what I think. I suspect I might not have to many radios. LOL. Even if I don't, my desk says no more. Of course my bank account agrees. LOL. Then the CCrain ones that was brought up in this topic earlier sounds nice. I am most likely more of a short wave listener than a lot people on this topic, but I cannot prove that. When I got what I got, I was looking for a good FM set that will also meet most if not all of my short wave needs within my price range. Anyway, if I had to choose today, it might just be between a CCrain and this. Is there an audio demo anywhere? Of course it will most likely not be a really good idea on how it will sound where I might put it based on the recording made along with mike placement and the like. Of course this assumes that it is recorded via the mikes on the recorder instead of hooking the recorder in to the radio... Also, from time to time, I may not know where I will have it next, so good AM and FM reception is a must for this amount of money... Hope I am not driving people nuts or mad or whatever you call it with this topic. Now for a more complete list of what I called a good radio. Good reception for the price range, sound must match reception if not better than reception, features must match the frequencies that it receives (SSB for short wave if all possible), reasonably easy to use, Antenna connections (for those times I wish to hook a different antenna in to it), speech output (if I can get it), battery power and option to power off of the AC, and the fm and AM bands here in the US and shortwave. The shortwave might be given up if the radio shows that reception on other bands are really good for the price range. At times such radio may be used to listen to local stations why hiding out in a basement if and when bad weather hits. Grant it, part of this list is a bit grey. Some of this did cross my mind back when I bought what I bought, but still this topic is proving very helpful. Hopefully, I didn’t make this post to long. Speaking of long, isn’t this over 500 words? LOL. I am a bit on the picky side when it comes to spending a lot on a good radio... Re: Monthly chat June 2015
Re: Monthly chat June 2015 @Blindncool, the books are rather fun. It's odd I'm not the biggest fan of detective fiction, but I enjoy the Sherlock books, then again Conan Doyle was always said to be as good at his characters and settings as much as at the puzzle elements. If you can find them, I can highly recommend the Bbc radio plays, sinse back in the nineties the Bbc had a project of dramatizing all 63 Holmes stories plus all four novels with the same actors for Holmes and Wotson, which in fact they did. They're both very accurate representations of the books and also extremely well done, albeit the actors for both Lestrange and Mrs. Hudson did change rather (Mrs. hudsan was played by Judy Dench in some stories). Their Valley of fear is particularly one of my favourites. As for me, well again more by way of reviews and blogs and game testing, albeit it's been hot as hell round here today so I've not exactly felt energetic. Well I listened to the monthly story for this month which concluded the locom doctors format. It was actually a rather nice one, not exceptional but particularly good especially sinse it was set in sixth century constantinople and featured the roman emperor Justinian. it also had a bit more historical gravitas, sinse there was even a scene where the emperor assumed that Vicky was being given to him as a present which was played as silly but probably quite historically real, plus it saw the return of the meddling monk seaking his revenge for what happened with the 8th Doctor at the end of the new adventures which was fantastic. the end was a bit abrupt, and I was actually rather sorry when the alien monsters turned up in this one sinse I was hoping for a pure historical and in at least the first two episodes that was what I got.Next months story I'm looking forward to just on the basis of one line, a dalek saying "Would, You, Like, Some, volovontts!" . Buffy continues to be fun, and series three is picking up for all I miss spike. there was an episode where Angel supposedly became evil again, but really! can't we just have him back that way? I much preferd evil snarky angel to the usual anxty tragic love version .The Mayor however who is the bad guy for this series is finally showing his hand and I will admit he has his moments, it's great to see such a slimy politician sort of like watching evil Bill Clinton . My favourite mayor line which made me laugh hugely was after one of his schemes fails where he says in a quite jovial tone "Oh don't worry, there's more than one way to skin a cat, which is somet hing I can verrify factually!" And it just leaves it to your imagination why exactly the mayor could know so much about skinning cats .Other than that not much to report, it's a rather slow time of year. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity
Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity I can see that arguement, and I don't disagree with stance on bennifits, (hell if I wished sinse a good amount of my sight issues are due to medical mistakes I could probably sue the nhs if I were so inclined though I have no desire to kick up that kind of stink). However my only issue with "well it's what the law says your entitled to" is that firstly the law can change, and secondly getting hold of something often requires far more of a ball game than it should and those people assessing how and in what manner the law is applied don't always do so in a completely none biased way.A friend of mine for example, after suffering for years with serious, indoginous depression (the sort where she has to not keep pill bottles in the house incase she tries to overdose in one of her less good moments), then developed serious jouvenile arthritis and hyper mobility to the point that she now has trouble handling objects and must use a wheel chair. Any prat can see she's disabled and should by rights qualify for disability living allowance, heck I'd have argued she should've qualified on the basis of the depression alone even before she developed her arthritis. Yet, when she applied she was initially refused simply because the form is intentionally missleading and the government at the time was on a huge "deny people bennifits" kick. For example the section required for testimonies of disability from medical professionals is labeled "Any additional testimonies" and my friend hadn't initially filled it in. This tendency to play the law regarding bennifits as a game of denial, rather than for the bennifit of those it's required for is actually getting far worse. Then in addition to miss application of the existing law, there is the issue of what inequities already exist within the law that should need solving. For example, it is not currently the law in Brit ain that busses have audio announcements. The government has flatly denied making this legal, despite a campaign. However, I'd argue that this is an instance where there should! be a law. Busses have all the informmation for sighted people available, you wouldn't catch people boarding a bus with blacked out windows so they didn't know which stop was which and it is the responsability of the state to provide equality in public services just as wheel chair ramps are required for public buildings.I think this might to an extent be a difference in culture. I know Americans have an immutable constitution that is seen as an arbiter of moral authority and a conveyer of rights. In Britain however the law is more fluidly constructed with respect to what the law lords happen to alter, thus if a new law or right is required according to other moral principles such as utility or state responsability it is something to be campaigned for based on that moral authority, rather than being a question of trying to argue that existing legal rights conveyed by constitution are being denied, indeed in general in the field of ethics rights based morality systems are far more popular in the states where as in the Uk systems such as Rawlsian's idea of justice based on principles of universal equality are at least theoretically more common as the basis of juris prudence, though of course whether the government stops playing their eternal cross party cricket match long enough to take any bloody notice of moral principles is another question, (they haven't in the case of bus announcements thus far unfortunately). Re: Survive the Wild! Hi Sam,I guess the revolvers are not really needed, as we have hammers, bows, knives, and whatever other weapons you decide to add in the future. They weren't available to all of us from the start because the only way to get them was to pick them up as gifts, so that will make fights a little easier to survive. I currently have one in my inventory, but I don't use it very often. Also, the new inventory system sounds great. Hopefully, water will no longer show up as a separate item because it is carried in pots, so pots of water should just be one item. The other thing is that inventories could hold an infinite amount of items, which isn't realistic. Even in Alter Aeon there is a limit placed on a character's inventory size. Finally, the idea of crafting either a rock gun, or slingshot sounds very good. Picking things up as gifts really never made much sense, since items can't randomly spawn in a realistic environment. So, I would like to se e the possibility to craft either one of these weapons. Going back to the revolvers, you could allow players to craft them as well, along with the bullets. The trouble is that we would have to find metal somewhere, but you could add a map that involves exploring an abandoned mine field, which could allow players to pick up scraps of metal. Also, the camp ground could have items in it that were presumably left behind that could be picked up by players. These supplies could be used to build tools, such as weapons. Re: Headphones
Re: Headphones Hi all,The kind of headphones used to play audio games, or listen to audio in general matters to me a lot. I've been using a Logitech h800 wireless headset for the last seven months and for many things it works great. For chatting on TeamTalk, TeamSpeak, or Skype, it is one of the best headsets I've used. The microphone quality is crystal clear and very few people complain about my audio. The headset is also very comfortable to wear and lasts for almost a full day on a charge. However, here is the big issue with it; games simply don't sound very good with it, neither does music. When comparing it side-by-side with my beats solo HD headphones, it clearly sounds much more compressed. I also have Sennheiser earbuds, which sound far better than the h800. However, wearing earbuds for hours can be uncomfortable. So, I think I'm going to get a gaming headset, like the G930, or the Gamecomm 788. Re: Prometheus: The Eternal Wars Greetings!I do think that we have a MUSH pack, however I cannot tell you a lot due to not updating it myself. It is maintained by one of our players, and can be viewed from the 'soundpacks' command in-game.As for new things...the 'RT' command in mining vehicles works now, and the 'check' command in trash collectors has been updated to include the total amount of available trash items.Enjoy! Looking for an Online DnD group
Looking for an Online DnD group I've been looking for groups who play DnD online that I can join, but it seems that most of them are already started or are only between close friends. I remember that someone had told me of this group that hosts games and what not online, but I can't for the life of me remember what the website was, and google results in nothing. Anyway, if anybody knows of a group, or is looking for another player for their own group, send me a PM or reply here. Thanks.P.S. I've experience with pathfinders mostly, but can pick up any other book. Re: In the Dark: An audio adventure game about sexuality Having just found this thread again which I made years back, and disliking loose ends; here's what happened to In The Dark back then.We had lost the competition, so we were trying to get the game done in another way. However, as I was figuring out a plan, there was an incident in my family that took the wind out of me. Everything was allright eventually, but by that time this project had lost all of its momentum and each of us had moved on to other things. Its unfortunate, I had a lot of fun working on this, but since then I've had the chance to work on other cool stuff. Meanwhile In the Dark is sitting deep in my archive, pining. Re: Question about torrents. The rules as I understand them are not to promote software Piracy on these forum's, which falls in line with other development forums given the current political climate.Things have heated up alot lately around File Sharing, some Corporate rights holders definitely do NOT want people downloading copyrighted content like movies, music, or games, regardless of whether its cracked, paid for already in another medium, or in general. Though there are alot of dubious claims going around and plenty of other people and companies who have a different point of view.I've read reports that some torrent swarms are being disrupted by IPv6 peer flooding, considering your torrents work in 32bit win7 that could be the cause. To fix it you can switch to a different client or disable IPv6 in Windows, though disabling isn't recommended. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity
Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity Update to my previous post:One thing to consider about KNFB Reader, unlike many cheaper and free OCR apps, with KNFB Reader, your documents are processed right there on your device. Many of the other OCR apps, send the picture of the document to be scanned to a server where it is processed and the results sent back to you, this leads to privacy concerns. I'm perfectly comfortable using KNFB Reader to scan my personal mail that I would never consider scanning with a server based OCR app. URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=222102#p222102 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
