Hi keba, I'm sure the problem is not my connection; yeah, there are some players have a connection problems really, but me my net is fine, the server of red spot I guess it is the same in STW, so could you tell me why my ping there is from 75 til 96, and in red spot from 200 til ping lost; maybe you wil say 200 is good, but for me is a horrible lag, and to be onest there are some peopl don't play the game in a compleet way; if you are just walking, or staying in the same tile and firing rockets, for sure this won't give you any lag, tri to jump, fire with guns, and change directions, and tell me the resultes!.By the way, not just me who's saying lag! thanks god! there are mor than 20 players are doing as Sam said lag lag lag lag, so from those 20 players no one has at leest a good net?Actualy the lag it stops just in a moment: when Sam enter to the server, and we are all know why because all the players stop playing, and just start sending messages.
 And yeah it is a beta, and I said that many times before, but peopl must talk because it's a publick beta, and I'm sure Sam did this publick to get mor bugs, and if peopl won't talk why he should gave it out then? to make the game beter and beter, if i found a cheat for exampl, or a bug should I keep it for my self?, for me no, I wil say it to be fixed; yeah I'm with you there are some peopl  just like spaming, but not all of them.Sorry if you didn't like my stile of replying, but I just tried to let the things clear for you, and not all 20 players are lying.

Garfield has passed away.

This will come as a shock to everyone, but one of our good friends Matthew (Garfield) has passed away.  The post his family placed on his facebook page is in an image format, and not likely accessible, so I have typed it below:Matthew S. Killien, 34, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2016.  Survived by his children, Shaina and Eric; parents, Peter and Dawn Killien, Colleen Camelin; siblings, Melissa and Amanda Killien, Daniel (Kaylee), Christina and Bradley Camelin; grandfather, Hank Gillilan; many niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Celebration of Life will be on June 10, 2016 at the Dogwood Shelter in Blendon Woods, 12 noon-9 p.m.  Matt Matt you are loved and will be greatly missed by all.I can only imagine his family would be comfortable with me giving out the link to his facebook page, so that people may choose to post their thoughts, condolences, and memories of him.https://www.

ok, i'd just like to chip in on the lag thing. and for sam's sake, it's on his side. sorry guys, but i've spent hours on the game, and very, very few times, have i lagged much more then 600 ms. usually it's somewhere between 200 and 400. so i'm sorry, but this whole things of huge lag, isn't the game i don't think. sure, there's always going to be way to improve on the games lag. but i actually think it's the connections coming in, that are lagging. now mine seems to have a good path to sam's server, and maintains it well. other on the other hand, may not have such a good connection. and by the way. before somebody starts spouting off about how good their connection is, 100 mbps and so on, that' means nothing. nothing you hear me? lol. ultimatly, you could have internet into the gigs, it wouldn't help you if the path from you to the server, is a broken and bad one. broken or slow connections from point to point, can 
 mess up a connection to a server, no matter how good your net is. and for those complaining about such things, i'm only on a 7 mb connection, ADSL. yet i can most of the time, avoid rockets and such. not always, and not always totally, but usually enough to survive. so internet speed has little to do with this. i am just one of the ones that appears to have a good run into sam's server is all.ok, as for jets. there are several things broken, not just volume. you can't, for example, review your messages. you can seem to, but it  doesn't update the buffers from before you were in the jet. they stay stuck and static till you're out of the jet againit seems that being in the jet stops most commands working in fact.loving the new sound directionals sam. awesome stuff. it's really more like a war zone now, hearing shots in the distance and all. so much more fun to play.ok, as for the horns. don't really see why they are in
  there at all, as they don't appear to do anything outside make the noises. but perhaps, as they are a horn, and you're blowing it where you are, should they not also be directional and distance based? again, much like the gunfire and such, you should not be hearing somebody blasting them off continually, if you're nowhere near them.sam, perhaps you could list what sort of ranges each weapon type has. it's hard to tell just how far away you have to be to shoot somebody, when you don't even know the range of the weapons. lol.and yes, i have to say, again, like sam has said, and others, keep in mind this is, a, beta. guys, if something is in beta, please don't complain when things go wrong. such as yesterday, when sam was working on the update to sounds, and we were getting all those errors. yet people were coming on, and going, please stop this, it makes the game totally unplayable, ETC. well, yes, it might. but this is a beta. things will,
  not might, will, go wrong. things will break. things will be buggy. you will die because of lag. you will die, simply cause you didn't hit the space key 5 milliseconds before you did so. you will die because you were simply to slow. stop complaining about dieing guys, it's the whole point of this game! rofl. you die. so what. get yourself up, reattach your arms and legs, oh, and your head too, if you want, and get out there and shooting some more! the whole point of this game is to shoot, and be shot at. you don't like this sort of game, perhaps you should not be playing it?your reactions have to be fast. your senses alert. fingers loaded up with Caffeine. ahaha.

for me, the lag isn't much. There are the times when it gets laggey, but not much for me. I use mobile data almost 100 % of the time, and theirs not much problem.

No worries at all! I've been busy myself so wouldn't have been able to work on it right away anyway. Yes, debugging something that depends on randomness really is a pain, that is one of the major pains of game development compared to other software. Yes I'm impressed that people can do it at all, and when I was working on this I found that the real problem with these types of games is exactly the trying to give spatial kind of information as text. I know other games have gotten around this in various ways, like by using only sound like Entombed, or by abstracting out the location like Kerkerkruip, but I thought it would be worthwhile to try and see if it can be done without having to change it that much, since those changes make for a fairly different game I think. And obviously it would be nice for Nethack to be accessible just because it's an old game with such a rich history! But definitely it's really tricky, hopefully in a not entirely frustrati
 ng way

I'm really sorry.  I've been very busy what with graduation related things, but will try to get you that save file tomorrow night at the latest.  I still need to find time to recreate the problem, which is entirely dependent on the random number god.It is surprisingly difficult to orient yourself in a non-visual world without any form of description or anything really.  generally text-based things are easy because you have descriptions to fall back on, but I never realized how hard it would be when none of that was present.  It's still doable, certainly, but it causes me to flex mental muscles I didn't even know I had.

aaron77: A save file would be even more useful, thank you!! I'm glad you're able to make some progress even with the bug making things difficult. So you mean it would be useful just to have some indicator of if the room you're in is one that you've seen before? I think that's probably something that could be done. The auto explore is probably something that I won't be able to get into this project, since officially I'm finished working on it in a couple weeks and will be starting a full time job, but I do plan to try and get some of the changes you guys have requested in. Auto explore is a big change though. I do have all my changes open source, so maybe someone else will take up where I left off. Also, I agree with zkline's advice, when I play the only times I really bother to search are when I've reached a tunnel with a dead end, or if there's a room where I think there might be a door I will search along the edge of
  the room. The map generally takes up most of a rectangular space so for example if I'm in a room in the bottom left of the map and haven't found any rooms to the north then I'll search the north wall. Or just generally if I've searched all the rooms and haven't found a staircase I know I have to search rooms for a hidden door. That might actually be a scenario where it would be useful to have the absolute coordinates like some people have suggested.

So, I know theres been a lot of complaints about lag lag lag lag lag lag lag and let's just keep spamming the lag for the next 10 minutes because it's totally gonna fix the problem just by saying lag lag lag lag lag lag. 3 people have to say it and I get it. Lol. Anyway... I'm working on it. Ok, time to go off topic. Thank you hamata for actually considering other languages. I know I will always get critisized about using BGT, but teh point is, and i'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but unless you have used it  alot in your own, I repete your own, programs, you don't know how bad BGT is. And if you do, it's because someone just told you once and you then hate the language. I know i'm probably sounding a bit harsh. But BGT is not the reason for cheats. Yes, there are a couple things in bgt that suck in terms of secutiry, but guess what? It's not just bgt's bad and bgt's terible, you know the autoit language? Yeah, i'
 m sure a lot of people have used it. Well, currently the download page is down, but theres a script you can run, and all the code in the autoit language is decompiled to the original source. You can't do that in BGT. It's just an example guys. It's never the computer or what your using, that truely causes mass unsecurity. It's the person coding. Rather, it's everyone that codes. It's impossible to clear out all cheats. You know windows loaders? Oh, wait, windows isn't coded in BGT so... Heard of cheat engine that lets you speed hack and mod the variable values of a lot more than BGT? Yeah. With that i'll get off this, but please know that it's not BGT's fault. You know there is a way to get NVDA remote keys, right? I havn't done it, don't even know how, but i've scene it been done. And when I talk to the developer, they instantly blame it on my setup and security with out even giving as much as a glance at there code. 
 That's in python. So please, lets talk about issues with the game here, not about how just becaus i'm using BGT it's completely insecure which is a complete lie. Anyway, back to the lag lag lag lag lag lag lag lag lag. I'm doing all I can guys. Remember, this is just a beta. Please make sure you read the topic name. No, i'm not using it as an excuse, rather as a way to say hey, expect tuns of issues right now. It's a public beta. Anyway, I guess all I can say is i'm working on it.

Okay WWelshweyr, sorry about replies in multiple threads I'll keep my comments to this one. when I spoke of a "walkthru" I was meaning more in manner of instructions with vo. I can probably work out the game's tactics if the info is there. I'm particularly concerned about combat here and finding the messages sinse I don't want to miss the message that my monk has just been poisoned or turned to stone or what not. A combat log to review at the end of the round would be nice, sinse I suspect adding full alerts or a continue button after each message would take a rewrite, but simply giving a log you can read would be less problematic, but unless and until that is added I'd like to know how to work combat. I suspect there is a truly awesome game in there in terms of silver sword,I'd just like to be able to have all the necessary info to play it.

Hay dude you're using a pc, and a system: cheating always can be found even if STW was with an other lenguige or not, the cheat wil stay.Tell me! you know Swamp, and you know also it's coded with Python, but why the dev made it payed? absolutly because of cheaters. When anywon wanna write a program they must put in there brains the idea that: this thing wil go to many users, and also they can crack it, or cheat it, thus, not just BGT is only the house of cheat, but it depends on how the dev wil deal with those security things, and wich ideas they can impruve.

you can play all blizard games with one account, they just have seperate chars. If you create the account on the website it is more or less accessible. The only part I had trouble with was choosing a secret question but you can get over that too. I ended up having to choose the wrong question and just entering what ever into the field, but it got me through account creation.

I have yet to try this accessible fork personally, as I'm mostly a Linux person when it comes to playing roguelikes.The answer to when to search depends a lot on the exact map layout. Sometimes you'll have explored most of it, but there's a section or a corner you can't reach. This is easier to see visually or by exploring with the screen reader cursor. Tunnels which have mysterious dead ends are good candidates.

hi!you have a point but the fact is still that bgt is not the best language to code in because there is so many buggs in the language. all buggs are not only in the code. it's not only the code's fault that cheaters can cheat, also the language matter. anyway i don't see so much cheat in redspot like in stw, i know that sam fixed a cehat yesterday.for me the most bigg problem is the lagg and the horns. they are blasting my ears so much so i want to leave the game because that.

I have already posted a link to the walk-through on the Silversword forum in this thread and in my response to the questions in the other new Silversword thread so I won't do so again here.Yes, the trap game is accessible now but it does take a little time to figure out. I will demo it in my audio review.I recommend the text delay set at 100%, the slowest possible. The combat messages do scroll pretty quickly and Voice-Over doesn't read them out without you selecting them. The text output is not quite at the top of the screen of your phone or iPad. It is near the top in the centre. You will have to scroll back and forth to find new messages and you will miss some.Spells have sound effects that are either a kind of tinkle or a sort of zooming sound. That is how you know whether spells have been cast.It is actually a bit easier to follow combat at higher levels as more powerful spells can affect large areas and you have time to catch up while th

Hello, Good work so far Sam; it is a perfect thing for me because it's stil a beta v, and nothing is alright yet, but hopefully they wil be soon.First, about writing the game with an other lenguige: saying this is easy, but doing it is an other thing; we all know Sam is using BGT and this is his chois, switching to an other lenguige like C, or python wil take alot of time, and the dev has to lern, read, and also practis. Do you guys think Sam reached the top of BGT in one night? the answer is no of course. He tested, and made errors, but he fixed them, not just Sam, but any developer is like that.Also all peopl are saying BGT is a bag of problems, what BGT can do for you if you are not able to fix them?; thinking is the best way to fix, and saying the problem is from the lenguige won't give you the solution; it wil destroy you insted. Yeah, sometimes can really be a problem from the script because this is a system even with python there are problems as 
 you call them, but me I don't call them problems because they can be fixed.Second, the difference between the grenads, and the pipe bomb is: the pipe bomb like a time bomb has a range, and it takes a lital time to explode; in the other hand the grenad you must shoot it directly to the target to kill them; otherwise, they won't die, and you'll luse your grenade in the air.Finally, the claimore, or we can call  it a remote bomb: you can set it wherever you want then use the claimore remote to let it boom, an other thing if your health is low, and you wanna die,  I'd recommend you to put a mine then step on it, and tell me what wil happen!.Keep the good work! greetings.

hi! @post 101yeah if you stepp on your own mine it will explode, the difrense between grenades and pybombs is that after you throw a pybomb and it land it will take 3 seconds for it to explode and it have more damage then a grenade.i'v also found that sometimes when you are in afk players, robot and progectiles can still hitt you.

hey Sam,The game is cool, it is fun to play, and I enjoy it. well I would but right now it isn't possible to play and have fun. there are so many lag issues with the game right now it is unplayable. it is a fun game, but that pretty much all goes out the window when it lags like it is. you can't even play, the game is built so you need to jump to move around quick, but the second you do you can say goodbye to your ping. then you die cause the server has no idea you moved when you are actually 100 tiles away from your position the server thinks you are at. and there isn't really any point in playing a PVP game where you can't do PVP. and that's not to mention the spam you get from game messages when people use the lag to use 10 item grabbers all at once and you get 10 messages completely flooding your reader. it is really unplayable right now. there are small moments of non lag, but it always comes back. It sucks cause I'd like to play the game,
  I do enjoy it but I don't how someone can have a good time playing when it is a consistent ping over 2k, or 5k, or straight up ping lost. and dying when you have ping lost is not enjoyable. and it's not just me, most of the chat is nothing but people saying lag lag lag, it's a major problem that you just can't play through. seems the ones who enjoy playing with the lag are those who use it to cheat and use more items then they have. I know when you get online it might not lag, but ya can't base it off that when it does all the other time.

Hi.It's not that I lost files, I did lose some files some time ago, but I had those backed up already. If you are always looking out for your files and keeping them on an external harddrive, stick, server or what so ever, you should be good to go in the most cases, you can't trust a software with managing your files and keeping them save.

Hey there Sam. Thanks for doing some work on the jets. One other thing I noticed is that they're quite loud, and they don't seem to respect the volume of the game that you have set. You also can't change the volume of the game while you're in a jet. Aside from that and being able to control the jet while your AFK, that's all that I can think of that is broken wwith the jets at the moment. I do have a suggestion about the jets as well. I understand the need for a delay in how fast we can increase and decrease speed, but could the delay for turning be lowered? If I'm trying to kill someone and I need to quickly turn from left to right, I have to go straight, wait a second, then to right.

hi, can just agree with smoke, just plaied redspot and the server lagged out, but in stw the lagg is better now i think, that jumping issue is fixed if i'm not rong.also the horn are lagging the server when people spamming them, they are useless so please sam remove them.an other thing is also that the robots don't beeing removed from the map when they di and you can't destroy a robot if that robot is dead and don't moving. that thing need to be fixed@meyana the getts are now fixed, sam did that in the last update

someone who also who has this game, try the following. Load you save, and press f 10. For me, it says 0, and drops a coin. I pressed f9, and it goes from 0 to 2, and back to 0. If it's hard at the target range with gun speed 12, it would be hard with killing enemies on that speed. Btw, you can modify the amount of money you have dirrectly from your save

I'm having a lot of lag on this thing. when it isn't lagging I can have a normal fast ping of 200 ms usually, but when ti is, it just stops working, sometimes for more than 30 seconds, it's imposible to play. Rockets are nearly imposible to avoid, yes. I can do it when my net is fast, and even then only sometimes.I don't know if the voice chat makes any diference if it's there, but I see no reason why anyone would use voice chat in redspot. in stw, I can understand, but redspot is a game where if you talk to much, you die. So yeah, Sam can remove it, it would probably be better.Jets are really buggy. shift +, or . don't work, you can't track anybody, you can't use items, you can't even check your ping, basicly all you can do is press p all the time and just hold space when you see a player and hope you hit, because amming is nearly imposible. avoiding shots is imposible as well, you can turn but it's still not good enou
 gh when somebody is shooting you with a rifal. and you can't do anything because you can't see them or track them.

@JaybirdYou would be right except that to do that you'd have to keep every backup you make. Most people can't afford to keep buying backup media to store all those backups on. My backup system has a two month windows where I only have the last two months of backups. If I don't notice a file within that time, the backup that contains it will eventually be deleted to make room for newer backups. Do you really keep every backup you've ever made?@SimbaIf iTunes worked properly, it wouldn't delete media files behind the user's back, so no manual backup should be needed. Are you so perfect that you've never lost a file ever?

I do even better than that. I back everything important up to an external drive. That drive, along with others in my system, is backed up to CrashPlan online backup. Every few weeks or so, I update a second external drive from the primary one. That second external drive then gets completely disconnected so absolutely nothing can happen to it from a software perspective. And on top of all that, just in case my house burns down or someone steals all my stuff, I have another external drive, not connected to anything whatsoever, in an off-site location, and that drive gets exchanged for an up-to-date version two or three times a year.

Hi.Argh people, seriously? If you wanna keep your music save, back it up to an external hard drive and never use it with iTunes! gosh, is this so hard to understand for you? You all by now should know that you can't actualy trust the program with your personal music files.For those who still do that, well, I am sorry, but if you wanna keep the risc, I can't help you.

@Welshweyr, unfortunately I've been a trifle busy with things sinse october, namely getting married, but I still! need to get into silver sword. Thus far my first questions are firstly, what should the text delay in combat be set to to give a chance of reading it if the developer hasn't added a log to review after the end of a round, and secondly whether these locked chest colour puzzles were accessible (I read the manual a while ago and remember hearing about that). If you have a link to a walkthru that would be great.

It's extremely easy to dodge rockets when things are working as they should. The problem starts when the server has lag spikes. This makes it considerably more difficult. I'm guessing it would also be hardest for people to dodge who have slower connections or slow ping times to your server. My ping time stays around 30-60 MS when the lag isn't spiking, so maybe that's why I can dodge them without issue. I don't mind rockets as they are. I hope something can be done about the random spikes of lag though. Also, I've noticed that voice chat can create lag. I don't think anyone actually uses the voice chat since it's such a fast game. Maybe disabling it would help with the lag.
