I really hope you make your goal. If I could contribute I would gladly do so. As for the game itself I'm stuck on the ship part where you have to distribute energy. SpoilerI'm not exactly sure how it works. If I click on Distribute, then Engine or Life Support and then type in a number it always says set to zero. It does the same if I just click on engine and then try one of the subsets within Engine IE thrusters. It always says set to zero no matter what I type. So I'm not sure if it's a certain format or what. Also I'm curious if there's something you're supposed to do in the scene with SOLI after you learn what you learn and it cuts off your connection or whatever.

Hi.An accessible version of the classic Doom 95 or Doom 2 would be so fantastic! It would be quite simple to make, I think. However, I'm not a developer... I would support such project and help as much as possible, if any developer is up for it. I have played both Doom 95 and Doom 2, and I know a lot about the games. Doom 95 is much better than Shades of Doom. The closest we have to the original Doom games is Technoshock.

I'm having this trouble with redspot, i'm a jaws user. I need help on screen reader interrupt. For example, if I press w to see where a person is at it tells me, but when I press w during the message, it doesn't interrupt it. If I press w twice it would say the message, then give the second one after, instead of interrupting itself. I have a similar problem in survive the wild, where the control key doesn't stop speech, but when I use sappi it works. Is there a jaws option I can use to fix this? Ok, another question. Sam, will you consider making new maps in the future? I can see you thought

Audio Quake is still around and does indeed still work. I just spent a bit more time messing around with it and managed to get it up and running properly. If anyones interested in playing it follow these instructions:Step 1: Go to [this] site and at the bottom of the page download the AudioQuake package. When installing it the option to download the demo version didn't work for me, so you may want to leave that option unchecked. When finished you should have an audioquake folder sitting around.Step 2: You will need the pak files from either the demo or the retail version before you can play, you can get the shareware version [here]. Extract the files, run deice.exe which should create a folder called quake_sw. Copy Quake_sw/id1/PAK0.PAK into audioquake/id1. If you have the full verison of quake, copy both PAK0.PAK and 
 PAK1.PAK from quake/id1 to audioquake/id1.Step 3: When your finished, there are a few ways to start this. Either you use the Launch AudioQuake link in the start menu, or on the command line in the audioquake folder type "perl start.pl". This will load the launcher and give you a series of options. Press "S" to start, then press the tilde key to open the console, type "Start" and press enter to get a list of commands for starting new games. Type "SP" and press enter to launch a singleplayer game, press tilde again to close the console and your good to go.Note this was tested only on WinXP, there may be compatibility issues that may need ironing out on other versions of windows.

hey just to let you all know this sapi5 eloquence crashes my NVDA and if you try using it with jaws it will crash jaws and you gotta run NVDA then find jaws in the system tray and reset your jaws profile back to jaws eloquence and (not) sapi5 eloquence. also I got reports win10 narrator does not see this eloquence.

for me, it would have to depend on the features that are being offered.If it continues as it is now, than my answer would be no.However, if there was a list of upcoming features and said features were added in, and we could see them then I would reconsider.Also if I'm to pay for a game, I would like to see regular updates.I  think this is something to think about.If the game is free, then there is no obbligation as to how frequent updates, bug fixes of features are added in..However, if that game is now pay to play, that a reasonable person would expect updates or fixes in a  timely manner and by timely, I don't mean once a week.I do understand that you do have a life and all that but also you would have to be more obbligated to work on it more than if it wasn't ay to play.The other thing I want to touch on is items.Are items something that we get to keep when logging out unelss we dye? or do those item

Hi.Can anyone recommend good text editing environment on linux?The situation is as follows.I'm remotely logging in to a linux machine from my Windows PC, and I have to create/edit text data there. I have Tera term as my terminal, NVDA and JAWS 17 as available screen readers. I won't use Japanese there at all, so we don't have to worry about international/localization problems.I'm now trying to use Emacs with the environment above.Creating files seems to be an easy task. I press c-x c-f, then type the name of the new file, then enter to complete the creation.Next, I type something like#include void main(){//whatever I want to do}This can be compiled as you would expect, but very irritating things start to happen when I try to add or edit something in this source.NVDA speaks wrong curser position while editing in Emacs. JAWS says something like "f", wh
 ich is completely useless.Since it is very difficult to locate the curser, I break the source files in most cases. The more I try to fix it, the more it breaks.Does anyone have a solution for this, or do you recommend a different editor?

But it's quite weird because as you say, when typing in japanese or korean those voices are silent; for example, I have a sapi4 Eloquence voices in japanese, korean and chinese. Then if I type some characters nothing happens. However, I remember that when I tested the new Eloquence from Code Factory, I could write in those three asian languages; it's like they had made something so that the asian languages might work.So, if there's not a way to convert those characters into the proper ones, what can I do?Thanks for your answer!PS: I can paste a piece of demo of Eloquence or the EULA I'm talking about in korean if that can help.

I'm starting to wonder if my stutter is somehow connected with emotion. When I'm nervous or excited, it seems to be far worse. I've also entertained the idea that it may be caused in part by the fact that I was born premature. I wonder if something in the brain didn't quite form the way it should.Regarding that recording, I don't really notice anything all that bad. Maybe a little pausing, which is what I have been taught to do in order to keep from locking up completely. The main issues I face are prolongated sounds like the "m" sound where I seem to get blocked and sit there going m for a few seconds. I also have part word repetitions where I get stuck on certain sounds like c c c in the word cold. Then there are the time where everything gets locked up and I can't produce any sound at all. Methinks it may be a glitch in the brain after all. I've managed to tame those down and now only seem to have regular trouble with &quo
 t;m". I honestly don't know.

Ok, a few things. First, seriously? If you don't have the money, don't pay. The same thing happened with swamp when it went paid. Everyone started flame wars to try and change aprone's mind. This does not mean that i'm wanting sam to charge for redspot. The difference between swamp and redspot is, well, quality. Swamp, was a very good game. Is a very good game. But it took years and years. Redspot, to be honest, does not have the same standards. its really just you running around killing acationally and getting multiple items of the 5 or 6 items you have in the game. And if your really considering charging for quality, well, no. But if this new version you speak of is as good as you say, maybe. But of course nobody knows, doesn't even seem like you really know, since your constantly asking for ideas here on the forum. I wanna hear yours before i give you mine. Hi. @58, there is a very simple reason that i'm not doing steady income for RS, and why i'll just end up making something new if this doesn't get me the money to get at least a couple good sound libraries, like I think it will, then I will use the rest of it on my server. Technically with software, if a company were to look at this forum, such as, oh, let's say Adobe or one of the others, and saw tons of cracks to their software, this site could get in legal trouble, so it really can't be allowed on here. Not pirating the code factory version, because that version had nothing to do with the free package, but using the Eloquence dll without paying "royalties" to Nuance, whom owns it. Nuance wracks in way too much cash that they seem to turn a semi-blind eye to this whole thing. For example, they were enraged at the multitude of cracked android eloquence apk's floating around, but pinned the blame, or at least part of it, on code factory for not having a strong drm system. Same for Vocalizer
  for Nvda. But then again, couldn't the controversy go far beyond that? It was said that when jailbroken, using other voices with your devices, like the Tom voice, was illegal. So couldn't using Siri voices for nvda be considered illegal as well? And what about those Nuance ports of Loquendo and Svox voices that made it to the mac, but not nvda? A lot of unanswered questions, you could pretty much gets lost in the noise if using a free eloquence package, for example, just as long as there's a source for cash somewhere. It's almost like Microsoft. They hate piracy yet learn to semi-embrace it, i e, they could care less if you're running a pirated windows since they have billions of paying customers as it is. None of this makes the piracy justified, or right, just stating points that this is not completely a yes or no question, due to there not being much transparency when it comes to the tts corporations. Sure, there's a crap ton of information if you lo
 ok in the right places, like the history of the acquisitions and what became of them, but what about now? Why do some companies get new Vocalizer Voices before others? Why has the trend been continuing for so long where Apple, of all companies, gets all the new voices, apart from the fact that they've struck a partnership? What about Code Factory, who managed to get Richie, an Indian English voice, into Vocalizer for sapi5? See how it is?

I found microsoft visual c++ 6 and a serial number for it. I installed it on my windows xp machine and tried compiling it with no luck. I also installed the microsoft speech sdk 5.1. When I asked the developer of this sapi5 eloquence library if I needed anything else to build this, he said he didn't know.

A quick question about types and moves and stats. If a pure earth type with high strength and really low magic attack gets all ice moves that are special, would it be a bad mon because its moves don't play to its stats, because its moves are a different type, or both? If a pure fire type with the same stats as terruffalo got tunnel, would it do less damage because it's not an earth type? Or is it all based on whether the moves are physical or special and whether the mon has strength or magic attack? Like if a mon has really high magic attack, I'd think its physical moves wouldn't be as good because its strength is low.

Yep figment, Hunchback =  the hunchback of notre dame. I watched through most, if not all the disney canon as a child, mostly introduced to films like the Junglebook, Aristocats, Bamby and The rescuers by my mum, though I had audio cassette stories of some of them including sleeping beauty. then of course, since the renaesance films were just my era given I was 7 in 1989 when Little mermaid came out, I went to see beauty and the beast on it's first release then pretty much went every year to whatever was next, it almost became an iconic thing that only stopped when the big musical releases stopped with Tarzan, indeed I still remember being 12 and learning how good The Lion King was from an American Lady, since back then if something came out in the states we didn't get it over here for another six months.

first I want to tell you all I found a website with a bunch of old raised dot computing newsletters found at:http://personalpages.tds.net/~ti51/rdcnews.htmsecond, I plan on making a NVDA profile that depends on the decTalk addon specifically this  one, http://grossgang.com/tts/synthesizers%2 … nvda-addonThis profile would switch you to DecTalk and set punctuation to none. Reason is because when the dos screen reader such as asap takes over NVDA in sleep mode it also takes over its punctuation abilities. Punctuation, none, is best. and better yet to keep this all in one message... Would it be possible to just use that above decTalk directly with dosBox rather than it having to use NVDA in sleep mode as a bridge? and finally, since alt tab does not work in dos box, could another key such as control shift f12 when pressed actually activate the emulated alt tab in dos box for windows3.1 stuff? ok I think that just about covers it but one more thing if anyone has any old dos stuff they are willing to share? would you mind sharing? mega dots, duxbury for dos, hot dots, and so on?

As far as mic quality is concerned, you don't have to worry about that too much, since most Voices will be coming over a radio and/or an intercom speaker, so they will have a lot of processing on them which will get rid of most frequencies. From the recordings we have so far, you can't tell who's using a behringer, a blue yety or a cheep logitec USB mic, they sound very similar after processing.Regarding a text version, the game isn't fully self voicing. The only things that have a VoiceOver is the main menu which is translated, the various airtraffic towers, the flight attendents, and a few airplane messages like pull up or turbulance warnings which are pre-recorded files using a TTS (Alex in the translated version). The rest of the game, such as most status information or place names, is spoken using a screen reader (either JAWS, NVDA, Winmonitor or SAPI).

@figmentI was thinking the same thing, it seems that this place is slowly turning into a pirate free forum. The next step is for admins to allow pirated games and that's it. my conscience is clear aswell, usually I pay only for the things that I think are worth it, some software have such ridiculous prices that it would take me an year just for a license. And then I should work an other year just to buy the update which is clear and utter robbing.

It doesn't matter when this version was created, Nuance acquired it from somebody, who either was the original developer, or somebody that acquired it from its developer. It has never been free or abandoned, so any use without a properly acquired license is stealing and thus piracy.I'm using this package with a clear conscience because I did buy and use, until now, the Code Factory version of Eloquence, so I have a legitimate license to use it. All this package does for me is allow me to use it without Code Factory's DRM, which I normally wouldn't have a problem with except that it was a slow piece of crap.As far as I can tell, it depends on what it is that is being offered. If I were to offer a cracked or purchased version of a game, you can be pretty sure that my message w
 ould be immediately deleted and I'd be banned. But I've seen Eloquence pirated here a number of times with no consequences to the person doing it. . I've also seen a purchased version of Pure Basic pirated too, again there were no consequences for the pirater. So I guess that as long as it isn't an audio game from a member of these forums, no problem, pirate away!

I haven't yet seen an audio game priced at $60, and honestly I think the developer might be shunned by quite a few people and seeing so many middle fingers that "F you" would be emblazoned on his/her eyes forever.  But honestly, I wouldn't agree with this either if it was just for the purpose of stopping cheaters and/or spammers from logging on. I simply hope you're making the game shareware due to the load of features you intend to add to it, but then I can't accurately conclude that since I don't know what said features would be. See, I didn't agree with Swamp's reason for going paid, but ultimately the reason I have paid for it is because the work done on the game was well, and I mean very well, worth being paid from the beginning. As regards the program itself what exactly do you mean "inaccessible" have you tried to read the screen with a virtual curser, eg, jaws review curser, dolphin curser, the nvda thing (I think it's called flat review mode or something). Bare in mind that since the text doesn't have a curser itself you won't be able to just arrow threw most of the time and need to read manually, though I have heard of a Nvda addon that speaks incoming text automatically. Alternatively, try the speech option with sapi to speak incoming text, it's in the menu under options I believe.I would also advise turning off everything on screen to make things clearer.Hth.

Character theft is not  an ishew in this game, as characters lose all their items and ammo when they die or log out. 3: game basicsa: movementRedspot is one of the few games that supports full on 3d movement. That is, a full 360 degrees walk around system plus a height system. The current map of redspot consists of an empty area in the south half, really nothing much to speak about. There is a small body of water in the south west area, with a bridge going across it, you can also walk under the bridge. The north half of the map is a forest, unfortunately no trees to blow up by accident. At coordinates 460, 460, there is a tower which is climbable. There is some surface area to walk around on as well. There is nothing I can do to reduce the processor load and the increased fan activity? Is my MacBook Air not powerful enough to fully support it? Does this exhibit this kind of behavior on Windows? So walking is handled via the server. Weapon timers are handled from the server. Inventory is handled by the server. Then, you'd need someone who wants to reverse engeneer the network protocol used, write there own client, and then they could script some aspects of the game. This probably won't happen, because only very few people have the knowledge in this comunity, and even less would spend there time on something useless as that. So cheating would be solved.

I can't tell you who exactly made this synth, but what I can tell you is that it was made a few years before code factory even thought of making sapi5 eloquence in the first place. I do like eloquence, but I am not afraid to publicly admit that I will not! Spend $75 on a synth, especially with the DRM bullshit that Nuance puts into it.

So character advancement and keeping your stuff when you log out: no.  I'm totally against this.  This is a game that presents an opportunity for someone to log on, fight, and log off.  If there were character progression, people could log on, get 10 health while no one else was on, and everyone else would have zero chance.  I do think it would be neat to reward players for their effort, though, and here's how I propose it:Each kill is worth a certain amount of points, dollars, whatever.  When you kill someone, your account gets that amount of points.  You can also sell items for points -- have 12 jets, just sell 10 of them and you're set.  When you die and respawn, you can be taken to a store where you can opt to spend your points on a few items, ammo, etcetera.  That way, when you respawn, you can come into it slightly better off.  Of course, you can opt to spend none of these points and come in with a defaul
 t set of gear.  I don't think, though, that the points should be allowed to get too out of control.  One of redspot's charms to me is the ability to get on and fight without having to deal with people that have been grinding health or items for three months, and by then become virtually unkillable.  BTB had this problem -- people would have purchased like 8000 health upgrades and someone just starting has zero chance to gain anything because, well, they  were outmatched by those that got ahead quickly.  I am in agreement that redspot should be kept on as level a playing field as possible.As to the new upgrade, a traylor would be great, but, hands-on time with it would be better.  Make a timed demo or something -- you get 3 hours of playtime.  With redspot, that'll go quickly.

While we do have a lot of tech discussion in this part of the forum, interactive fiction and text adventures are games, therefore this topic belongs in general game discussion so I will move it. As to the question itself, I'm afraid I am a bit confused. You have a Mac and run windows 10 as a virtual machine and play the games on that in frotz, but are wondering how to play them on your computer? Isn't the virtual machine already on your computer?Are you looking for if interpreters on the mac or something else?

Those are not letters, those are characters that English tts voices simply can't translate as typical symbols, so they interpret them into a way that makes it sound like a bunch of specialized characters. The Japanese and Korean license agreements would be written in those languages, nothing more, unless it was maybe English. English synthesizers are always silent when reading hangul, and if your computer displays Japanese properly, they only come up as symbols and nonsense characters unless you have a Japanese tts installed. There's no way to convert the writing into these symbols because there's nothing to convert.

I know someone who has a speech delay..And because of my hearing loss, I tend to say a word wrong without realising it. For example, I used to lisp before I got new hearing aids that transposed the S sounds to a lower frequency.

Well I confess I do feel a bit bad for not being able to back this project at the moment, since were this another time i'd be glad to, but up until my wife and I get our lives a little settled I'm going to have to be rather careful cash wise, particularly since I need a new computer later this year. I don't know about applevis, though if an ap posting might help that could be good. also i believe there are several mac specific mailing lists and other resources, perhaps someone who is a mac user could help (isn't there one called mac visioneries?). there is also This page listing various mac related vi websites on whitestick, and I don't know if anyone there is likely to be amenable to this sort of news. I really hope this gets through.
