I do know that VB6 and VB.NET are very, very different languages. However, they do have similarities that tie the two together; sure, VB.NET uses objects and OOP, but it still has the core things VB6 has: subs, dims, etc. I'm honestly extremely bad at the language; perhaps I'll one day rekindle that fire and see how it goes. I never was a fan of the VB6 IDE -- I'm more used to the Visual Studio IDE (which, for me at least, seems far more usable than the VB6 one does). I might scrounge around and see if I can find it again.

so this may seem like a bit of a strange question... but hopefully someone will be able to help me out here. So when you  use the keystrokes to jump between headings, links etc NVDA will announce the text of what your jumping to, followed by the element type. For example, you press H to jump to a level 1 heading with the text test. NVDA announces test heading level 1. Now, if I navigated with the arrow keys to that same heading, NVDA reads it the other way round and we get heading level 1 test. This inconsistency is really starting to bug the hell out of me tbh. My question is this, is their a way of making the resulting announcements from arrow key navigation the same as what you'd get from using keystrokes to jump around a page? I'd find that much faster, as I don't always really care if a particular bit of text is at heading level two or if it's inside of frame 3, that's inside of frame whatever.tl;dr. Is it possible to have NVDA consi
 stently read the text  of  document elements, followed by the type using both keystrokes and arrow keys?

You need another audio device to rout NVDA through. A lot of wireless headsets have a secondary channel they use for voice communication, for example. That'd work just fine.

Blazing has just been updated to version 0.8.  (I'm on vacation away from home so Blazing is one of the few projects I can actually work on)There have been some cool suggestions made by people, but none of those made it into this update, haha!  Sorry guys but I was just messing around with something and it turned into a new version before I knew it.This latest version adds in a new character type, called the Trainer.  Trainers have no armor and do only 1 to 2 damage per attack, with no store options to increase it.  Trainers do however have a store option to add +5 to their maximum health.Trainers survive by using enemy creatures to battle for them.  You start out with a dog, just to get you on your feet.  Each time you move you randomly gain between 1 and 15 percent to your taming ability.  When you don't have a pet and you encounter some sort of non-guardian enemy, your current taming level determines your odds of 
 taming it.  If you fail to tame it, you battle it like usual.  If you do manage to tame it, the battle ends without anyone harming the other, and the creature now travels with you to fight in your place.  A successful taming drops your taming ability back down to zero, where it will slowly climb back up with each move.There is no way to truly heal your pet, but there is a pet upgrade in the shop that gives it 5 health and raises its maximum attack by 1.  There is no limit to the +5 health so it isn't a normal "heal" that would stop at the pet's maximum health.If you have no pet when you reach a shop, the pet upgrade is replaced with the option to buy another dog.  In an emergency, buying even a weak pet is better than having none.  The final shop option is to raise your taming ability by 20%, which is also good if your recently tamed pet was killed before your taming ability had a chance to climb back up.I'm n
 ot sure if this new character type is well balanced, but it seems fun enough to play (based on my limited testing).P.S. Using this updated server will not require a reset, if someone is already using one of the older Blazing versions.  This one will read the files the same way, and pop players right back into the same spot they were before the update.  The only change will be new features and hopefully old bugs no longer annoying anyone.

Hi.As said in the title.Do you have any method of reading the chat and using your computer while streaming on twitch.tv?Some kind of way that stops the sounds of your screen reader to go out to the stream.I'm currently using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) for streaming and recording.I really hope that someone have a good solution to this.Thanks for reading

Well as a pc user not console as such, if I could play any ea title created with my friends or online or in offline mode with standard keyboard or if need be the need of a gamepad or mouse or something and could do it accessibly, audio cues, more voices, screenreader support be able to find objects and target things, and be on the level that would rock.I'd be interested in testing anything for the pc ofcause.Console wize I'd like all consoles to be accessible to all of them and the games from menus to the game play.Its nice when this sort of grassroots action comes from someone that is able to be employed by a company such as this.

Hi everyone!I've managed to complete the first revision of my game Audio Maze, if you would like to try it out I'd love some feedback!The game is early in development so a lot of things haven't been implemented as yet, I wanted to try and make sure that the audio was okay before going too far with it. For now the object of the game is to collect the musical beacons from around the maze, once one is collected another one will pop up at a random place within the maze. The walls make a burning noise to help guide you around. All of the audio in the game is binaural so it should be possible to tell where the sound is coming from, it works best with stereo headphones but speakers will still work.I have included a read me file in the folder with instructions for the controls and a little bit about the game, I've been using a combination of Windows screen reader, VI simulation goggles, and just leaving the monitor off to try and make
  sure that it's accessible but please let me know if there are any problems. One thing I have found is that if you are using Windows screen reader then you may have to turn off the option to lower the volume of other apps while it's in use because it turns the game sound down too much.Click here to download!The file is quite large at 320MB and the link page might say that the file is too big for Google to virus check it, I don't know how to get round that, I promise there is no virus! You might have to click continue first. If there is a preferred hosting site then I'll re-upload it. It's a zipped file that will need to be extracted first and then you just have to click on AudioMaze.exe and the game will start straight into the first level because there is no title screen at present, just press the escape key to end the game.I plan

Personally if you are smart enough to need the customization of Android, I don't know why you'd pick a notetaker when a much faster device with a braille display can be much cheaper after all is said and done, but each to their own.

The problem is, what if you go to America or England, and things aren't as good as you thought they were?I personally find the west nice, and where I at least have a chance at actually getting a job that I like unlike my homeland. Don't over hype your expectations because they might fall short and that could effect you in negative ways.I came here at a young age so learning good English was a breeze (all though you probably can't tell from my spelling or grammer).Many people I bet are posting from experience. Discrimination is less (especially in certain areas yet it can always be found).This is because we are humans, humans by their nature are discriminant.They form tribes or cleaks by default.I once got asked by a boy if I was a monster (I think it was because of my eyes).He did not ask that ever again thankfully. I do not remember my response, but that experience has lead me to believe that people are naturally distrustfu

Greetings guys. Today's changes. Asteroid mining will be unavailable for a bit as i'm redesigning it into a much better system. However, debris salvaging is coming back with the same minny game as before, and with a twist. Different fields can have different contents, for instance, if you destroy a ship in space you now can retrieve the corpses of those killed abord the ship, which will contain the equipment and weapons they had as well as they're credits. Additionally asteroid mining once reworked will have the same system for mineable materials, which will allow me to develop actual uses for the resources you mine as aposed to you having only the option of just selling. In addition, i've designed for the next client update weapons to be server side in both death match and universe modes. This will allow me to better implement skills for the weapons and accuracy, as well as different weapon types for both modes... rocket launchers, anyone? Anyways, that's

Blindncool, while I haven't done it myself, I do believe at least one of the alternate project types will give you just a console window rather than a form.I think your new plan to focus on the syntax rather than those "visual" approach books is a good one.  When I was still learning, most of the books I saw did focus on the visuals rather than the true meat of the language.  These days I barely use more than a few of the core tools (button, listbox, picturebox if I'm doing something with nicer graphics, and the timer).  When working with audio games, there's very little need for all those tool box thingys.

Anyone know where to look up different engines? Right now I've been using Warrior's Triumph because it's the deck that I know from Ultimate Masters on the GBA.  But I also know that things have changed. So curious if anyone has any tips for some one whose pretty much been out of the game for nearly ten years or so now?  I love to keep my opponent on their toes which is why I love flip effects, but the problem is that you usually don't have high attackers to keep yourself safe.  I also don't know much about xyz things. I know syncro and elemental heroes, but nothing past that.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I know several people are already very familiar with this one, but as I'm just trying it out for myself I thought I would start a topic about it in new releases (since I don't think we've had one yet). It is a fruit machine but with a difference. you don't just spin and hope, you can hold certain slots and you get nudges where you can nudge one slot into the next symbol to try and get free. the object is to buy items in shops, which also lets you add more symbols to the fruit machine and get other goodies. What is cool for me are the minigames and the fact you play them so randomly, from memory game to double or nothing and likely many more. I am just getting used to this one myself indeed I have a few questions which I will heir in this topic, though if anyone wants more infoApplevis page here Now for those questi
 ons I mentioned to anyone familiar with fruit pot. First, the add videos. if I watch an add video I get my reward, however then it seems hitting any of the buttons in fruit pot opens the ap store and the only way to fix this is to close fruit pot with the ap switcher and return. is there a "close video" or "return to game" button or something I am missing when I've watched a video? Then, I don't exactly get how the hero games such as fire truck and police car work. I spin the wheel until I run out of credits play for the jackpot, but this really does seem more like a  fruit machine without much chance to affect the oucome, unless I'm missing some strategy. I also don't know how often I get new hero  credits for those games either.I have unlocked the stopwatch, but I'm really not sure how I am supposed to use it. I have tried activating it when I have two held slots and am looking for
  a third to and increase the chances of getting lucky, but I am not sure if it is working, especially with it being timed, and this really seems the only use for it, especially because a lot of it's unlock options are pretty handy to have even if you only get one.Lastly, I notice that in the paid ap store there  an option which gives unlocked minigames along with the credits. Generally in games I'd much rather unlock new content myself than pay for it since it increases the longevity of the game and keeps me playing if I know I have a new game to play, however if the only way to unlock minigames is to pay for credits I might be willing to do that somewhere down the line. can all the minigames be unlocked by buying out the shops?I can say I'm extremely! impressed at how the game works with vo and this one definitely deserves a db page.

Hi. There are actually several ways you can create self voicing menus, depending upon your preference. The most common way is to mimic the gesture based system voiceover uses (this is another reason why you might want to experiment with Voiceover yourself even if you cannot  integrate it specifically). If you used this  a player would swipe left and right on the screen to move through the menu items successively, with each item being spoken. So the ap would start and the player could swipe right to get to "single player" right again to "multiplayer" and right again to "options" Double tapping on the screen with one finger would activate each menu item.Another way is to use the corners of the screen. So when the ap starts the player would be told "hit the top right corner to start single player game, bottom left for multiplayer, bottom right for options" and would be able to do so. This h
 as the advantage of being a bit quicker than the swipe method, but the disadvantage of the player having to sit through and be told what each corner of the screen does, plus obviously you can only  have a maximum of four menu choices if your using screen corners.The third method I've seen is to use tapping with various fingers to activate items, eeg "touch the screen with one finger to scroll the menu, with three fingers to activate" This is similar to the swipe method, but a little more clunky, especially in terms of activating items.hth.

I have Pirate Memory Game and a registration code, but I'm not gonna post it publicly anywhere, since as unfortunate as it is, these games were never officially declared abandonware. Klango kind of was unofficially since the simplito dev team wanted nothing to do with Klango anymore, but that may not mean a thing if they weren't officially declared abandonware. Both installs required a key to continue the installation, and although I have keys for both games, the only full version setup I have is Pirate Memory Game. The only Haunted Factory setup I have is the demo, and those can't be registered whatever you do. So unfortunately, unless someone has the setup *key probably not needed as one's already around* for haunted factory, that game seems to be permanently gone. As for Pirate Memory, well we'll leave that one up to the mods, i e should we treat it like Bavisoft/code factory knowing that we have some information that could hint at the fact they want no
 thing to do with the games, or treat it like Bsc in terms of knowing nothing about the status of the games until later last year.

Unfortunately, Haunted factory is pretty much gone perminantly along with pirate memory game.The two used a very early version of Klango, back when it was going to be more of a development platform for audio games and other software and long before it evolved into a sort of halfway social network and got  down in shenanigans. while pirate memory game did install the environment, since pirate memory game is gone, haunted factory couldnt' even be installed if it were still around.

I used mac os, but i've installed windows and i think that there are some issues with brandmauer. This is great! sadly, When I tried to reach Telltale games about their games ( as these are mostly playable for the blind) they just ignored me like I didn't send anything what is really, really bad. I hope they will open for more possibilities possibly in the future.I am really interested in the Earplay though even if I more enjoy games with more possibilities like walking around, examining stuff etc.

AFAIK JAWS came bundled with scripts for the VB6 ide, which were extremely good, even going as far as telling you if the controls you were placing using the toolbox were overlapping or not and so on. This is most likely one of the reasons why so many blind people picked it up. There were quite a few applications written by Blind people that had GUI's like Day by day pro.Whether these scripts will still work, I don't know. I don't think FS/VFO has a habbit of removing even super old scripts. What might be a bigger issue is that because they were written so long ago they probably rely a lot on the Off-screen model rather than UIA and the OSM was limited somewhat in recent Windows versions. So my only suggestion would be to just try it and see if it works, and keep in mind that for audio games all you'll probably need is   just a large, full-screen Window and you shouldn't have to touch your form after that.

Thank your all for support. Yes, the problem is, that Corona SDK draws buttons with OpenGL and the phone can't detect they. The best solution for this is self-voicing menus. But there is few possibilities to navigate menus. Can you give me varios examples for this?

RTR Map Maker Help

Hi I am attempting to make my first map and I am running into an issue. I want my ambience to play all over the map and keep looping. The problem is none of the options seem to do that. I tried both type 1 ambience (Positional) and Select Type 4 ambience (Non-Panning). I tried to mark where I wanted to go like with tiles but that doesn't seem to work for ambience. When I place my ambience it seems to have 1 tile start the ambiance and it can be heard across the map but it doesn't loop. Any help would be great!

Visual Basic's toolbox is very visual. I've heard that there are blind developers using it, but don't know if their screen reader has a mode or scripts to deal with Visual Basic, or if they've simply learned how to bypass the visual toolbox and just code everything.I've looked at Visual Basic 6 source code before I lost my vision and can tell you that everything you define in it as far as dialogs and controls is saved to the source code files as structured text definitions.It's also possible they are bypassing the entire Visual Basic way of defining the program's GUI and building it with Windows API calls similar to the way Pure Basic does it.

Here's my current progress: I'm running through Using Visual Basic 6, by Bob Reselman, Wayne Pruchniak and Richard A. Peasley.The first exercise is to build a calendar application, using the MonthView control.Is there another way to add a control to a form, other than the toolbox? It seems that the toolbox is completely inaccessible with NVDA (when choosing toolbox from the view menu, I get a dreaded unknown error).

Sorry to say that we don't. We're focusing our development efforts on the voice assistants since it's Amazon's speech recognition API we're using to interpret player responses. We're looking forward to Google Assistant being integrated with all upcoming Android releases, and hopefully backwards compatibility with older Android devices too.If you don't have an Android that can use Google Assistant yet, you can still get a taste for our games! Earplay emerged out of our first experiment in interactive audio, Codename Cygnus, which is about 7 episodes long. Apologies for the delay, I was out on vacation last week. Let me take off my employee hat for a min and explain my personal motivation. Simply, you all matter and have as much right to game as anyone. I'm disabled too and it drives me nuts when people hit road blocks that shouldn't exist. I want to fix this wherever I can.Accessibility settings help abled people as well, so there really is no good excuse not to have them, in my opinion. I'm slowly convincing management of the same, and each piece of feedback I get is furthering the cause. They had no idea that blind gamers existed before I started pushing, and they found all the forwarded messages quite eye opening. For me it's Pure Basic. Not only is its syntax easy to read as you would expect with the Basic language. The compiled programs compare very favorably against the best C/C++ compilers for size and speed. It has a rather extensive library of functions ranging from low level stuff like memory management to higher level stuff like 2D and 3D graphics and email and internet handling functions. It's only 79 Euros for a single user license, and there are no upgrade fees to pay when major new versions are released.

Unfortunately, that will never happen, Microsoft pretty much sold out the entire Visual Studio 6 community by converting all of it's languages to use their .NET framework. I think that only C/C++ that compiled to native code survived the .NET conversion, and only because most of the C/C++ developers were ready to jump ship and go over to other brands of compilers, and Microsoft didn't want to lose those customers. It's a pity they didn't feel the same way about the Visual Basic community. I know a lot of those developers that didn't embrace .NET switched to Real Basic. It was a visual development environment like Visual Basic, could use the same active X controls Visual Basic did, and compiled to native code, and was almost syntactically identical to Visual Basic so it didn't take much effort to convert Visual Basic projects to Real Basic. And there were probably more than a few developers who decided they didn't need the active X environment of 
 Visual Basic that switch to other basic languages like Pure Basic. And then there are some that thumbed their noses at Microsoft and simply decided to just keep using Visual Basic 6.

[[wow]] aprone, I didn't know that.If only Microsoft were smart enough to release a VB6 express/community edition for those still using it.One question I have is this. Can a project be written without any forms? I know 90% (if not more) of VB programs include forms, but are they absolutely necessary for things like games?There's an option in the project properties to start with the sub Main routine (rather than form1). Is that all I need to do to remove forms?

@nuno69 I think you should find some legal downloads first, and then post the link as I'd love to see this in action. Make sure your downloads are virus checked and stuff, if it's programs, and if it's music try to find some non-copyrighted stuff.

I think people teleport using the official viewer as well when they have somewhere far to go. Once they teleport to the entrance, they walk from there.I'll have to get some of the blind SLers on board with this topic, I know some are on this forum.

Since I am actually away from my house until Wednesday night, I had a family member drive to my house to check on the server.  Sure enough, some sort of power surge or outage knocked it offline.  My hope was to talk him through getting the server back up and running, but it turned out to be a bit more complicated than he would have been able to pull off.  At a certain point in the instructions, it was best to just give up.  If any of you have tried to help parents or grandparents with computer issues over the phone, you probably know what I mean.  So in short, I won't be able to get Swamp back online until I drive home on Wednesday night.  Sorry everyone.

If the game is working on Unity engine, it may be a little more difficult to add native API support of iOS or Android SDK.

CAE Jones, I do believe so, yes.Ethin, like Pitermach said, VB6 and VB.net are very different languages even though their names are similar.Draq, people do.  A large number of audiogames have been written with VB6, even through to today.  Probably a few times each year I am sent emails or called by companies desperately looking for experienced VB6 programmers.  The list of (experienced) VB6 programmers is shrinking every day, but the world still has many pieces of critical software that are written using it.  Those programs need to be expanded and patched just like any other.  Keep in mind that for a decade, somewhere in the neighborhood of 90% of all office and business related software was written in VB 1-6 (or so I was told in school and from multiple other sources growing up).A good portion of places running their businesses on custom created software, are not going to tear everything down to replace it with things written in new l
 anguages, as the world constantly decides which ones are "popular" that year.  When stuff works, it works, and even to this day many companies are running themselves on VB software written back in the early 90s.  When they do find they need changes made, again it doesn't usually make sense to tear everything out and start from scratch, but rather tweak and change what they already have.  I've actually been told that good quality VB6 programmers are often paid more per hour than programmers of today's modern languages, just because they are more rare.If you look around online, you'll find that I'm not the only modern day nut still using VB6 on a daily basis, ROFL!Maybe one of these days I'll tell the guy on the phone that I'm interested.
