Hello dear friendsWe are very happy to tell, that the Episode 1 of GoldGun has hit the most popular app stores todaythe link for iOS devices https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goldgun … 1&mt=8the link for Android deviceshttps://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … nd.GoldGunremember that this is an audio game, and that it has no visuals except a back button (that was an inside joke)some android devices have had problems with the Talk Back. It seems it needs to be disabled before the game can be played. We will work on some updates to fix those bugs, but perhaps we don't have time for that since we are concentrating on the next episode, and on improving at overall level the quality of our own audio game engine (IMAGE is called; Immersive Audio Game Engine).remember also that this first episode has worked for us a pilot project. The quality of the audio is not there yet, where we want it to be. But next episodes will be longer, better, and with very cool things happeningbest regards to all of you that have been supporting!and not, let's play!since this episode is completely free, we thank you if you can share about it with your network! When looking for secret caves, is it only the edges of each map I should follow? Also, I did Fencer's quest, but the lady didn't give me anything that I recall when I first spoke to her and she gave me nothing after I did the quest. I hope I didn't mess something up, though of course I might have missed it because I skipped through some of the dialogue. Also, I beat Pots Hits this time! Re: X3 basics and let's play series It's not always as random as all that, actually. There are techniques for mapping systems, automated exploration programs, and a way to move to any point in space with the autopilot. THere are also improved scanners which pretty much guarantee you'll see something within a big range.COmbat is harder, certainly, but not impossible. Merchant ships should probably avoid it, but fighters can do pretty well. There are of course programs to automate that as well. Re: DT in BGT
Re: DT in BGT Both X and Y will have to be mirrored, as the ball will travel along both axes. If I hit the ball at a 60 degree angle, it's gonna travel along both. If I hit a 230 degree angle shot, it's gonna travel along both. I've adjusted to use the 12 o'clock system because of the way that the BGT sound pool does things. That wasn't hard, just took modifying one line of code:return theta = (90-deg)*pi/180;And it works fine. Now, 90 degrees travels along y only to the right, 45 degrees is a 1 to 1 ratio of x to y to the right, 270 degrees travels along Y only to the left, and 315 degrees is a 1 to 1 ratio of x to y to the left. I've tested it, and it works fine. Just need to make sure that when the ball travels away from player 1, it goes toward player 2, and that would seem to best be accomplished by mirroring. Which would mean that a 45 degree shot going away from me would be travelling at 225 degrees toward the opponent, if my math is correct. As for the net, it sits along the x axis, since x travels left to right in this case, in the center of the court. X goes left to right, y goes forward and backward, and z for height of the ball. I think that the normal convention is that y represents height, but I have seen both, so I'm guessing that either can be used, and for whatever reason my brain likes z for height.UPDATE: I tried to simulate mirroring in my test program by having the ball return to me after it landed. I tried multiplying velocity by negative 1 as you suggested in your post. Relevant code:if(B.pos.z <= 0 and B.pos.x > 0 and B.pos.y > 0){alert("", "returning to original coordinates.");B.pos.z = 50;vel.x *= -1;vel.y *= -1;B.pos += vel*DT;}It did not work. The ball just continued to travel further away along the same angle. In other words, the angle remained 45 degrees in this case, but the ball continued to travel away from me, not back toward me. So I obviously did something wrong. I must have misunderstood your post. Re: X3: Terran Conflict, like Smugglers on Steroids
Re: X3: Terran Conflict, like Smugglers on Steroids Daniel,Weapons are not installed, at least not in most default merchant ships. If you start as a Humble Merchant you have two ships, neither of which has weapons. You buy weapons at factories or equipment docks. The actual process for weapon installation depends a bit on the kind of weapon and ship you have. Some, like the Mercury, only have space for a single laser turret in the back, which is not really good for fighting. You install lasers and other weapons with the "G," menu, and switch between missiles with the m key.As far as this particular situation goes, in future if you think you're being attacked in your merchant ship you can call on police or military units for help with the communications menu. One thing to check though, is that you didn't accidentally run into the station. That might sound like an attack because of the explosion noise, but is quite different. It's possible to do that accidentally while undocking. Re: Why it isn't always feasible for developers to port their games to Mac @7 (Off Topic I Guess)Just wanted to say that exploits are floating around for an IOS 12 jailbreak. Of course this doesn't mean necessarily that one will be put together, but the opportunity is there. The largest obstacle preventing one from being created funnily enough revolves around drama. The jailbreak community has just as much drama as this forum does. For this reason, even if exploits are found in future versions of IOS, the chances of tools being released won't be very promising. Developers, for good reason, find the opportunity to sell exploits to Apple or to create jailbreak tools for their own personal use to be more preferable to putting in hours of work for a community who won't appreciate it. Hmm. I feel like we've seen that before. Re: Please, make topic resurrection illegal on here
Re: Please, make topic resurrection illegal on here I don't know if we are going to make it a full on rule with warnings and such, but I do think this has to be considered due to recent events, to become a guideline at the very least. I'm wondering what's causing people to bring up old topics. Perhaps some users use the forum in a different way. When I log in, I usually just go straight to the "new" link at the top of the page to see what posts are new, and then I'd search if I'm struggling to find what I'm looking for. If it's something I'd like to ask, though, I usually create a new topic. Some people, however, might go straight to search, find a topic about a game they like, and then just post in it.My personal thoughts are, to each their own, but I also think it should be a guideline, as it's strange to sometimes see a post from 2011 and then, suddenly, it's back with a question that could have easily been put in a new topic, but I don't think there should be a punishment for it. Re: I need help, again!
Re: I need help, again! 1: no, pygame does not restrict your usage of anything. You are free to use whatever you like (even other event handlers alongside the main one) but I wouldn't if I were you.2: a module is one of three things:* a .py file that can be imported with the import statement* a collection of python files that can be imported with the import statement (i.e. the numpy package is a large collection of python files that is imported when you use import numpy)* A DLL or Python extension written in another programming language that is capable of both interfacing with Python and creating DLLs that are linked against the Python interpreter you are usingIn the case of the third possibility, the extension must be linked against the exact Python version your using (i.e. you can't use an extension written for Python 3.6 in Python 3.7 and vice versa). That is the major downside to extensions written in other programming languages, but they are still very useful.3: yes, it is. The reasons I can think of for the program not doing anything are quite a lot, but I'll give the most common:* you do not have an event handler to process events (i.e. mouse buttons, keyboard key presses/releases, etc.) or you have one but it is not running* Another function call has blocked the main Python thread and the function has not returned controlA typical pygame event loop looks like:def event_loop(): pygame.event.pump()A good practice that you should adopt when making a game is to only have one event handler. You don't need tons of while loops for your event handler to function properly, something like a background thread that calls your event handler over and over is fine. The more event handlers you have running simultaneously the higher the risk that you will "lose" an event; that is, an event is sent by the OS, but is never caught because an event handler didn't execute fast enough because another was hogging the thread. So make an event handler that places event data in a globally accessible structure and reference that. This advice becomes especially important when you use frameworks like SDL2. Re: strange, jennios hosting down The reason that there is a file size limit is because the average person will only need around 10 MB or below to make a website. And I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use any public website provider as a cloud storage service and for most providers it’s against the terms and conditions also. Re: Interest in an open source vocoder library?
Re: Interest in an open source vocoder library? OK, I just fixed that bug, and squashed some warnings that MSVC reported on /W4 in voclib.h regarding uninitialized variables. Yeah, I know... they're initialized, but MSVC doesn't know that. You can find that slight modification in lines 238-245. It shouldn't affect anything whatsoever since you re-initialize them later on lines 246-306. I just did it so MSVC wouldn't complain about it. I also made a vocshell.cpp file (which is functionally and almost identical to the C version but uses the C++ header) for testing. So feel free to give it a go and tell me how she runs. I also discovered the other dr_* libs for encoding/decoding, I might add those outformats to my C++ shell just for the hell of it. So far I haven't encountered a provider that offers unlimited anything for free. And even if they advertise unlimited whatever and even the CP says unlimited that doesn't mean there aren't limits, it just means that the limit is ridiculously high or the provider doesn't care about wasting money because someone uploaded a 20 TB file up there and now the system is unusable.
I think that the normal convention is that y represents height, but I have seen both, so I'm guessing that either can be used, and for whatever reason my brain likes z for height. Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"
Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!" Well where is it gonna come from, that's my question. I don't really know anything about the pi, though I've been thinking of getting one for a while now. So you just copy the img to the root of the sd card and it will read it from there? Hmm, I wonder what it would take to convert an ISo to an img, or even if it can be done that way, straight up. Like, are there special things the pi needs to see to boot off of that other linux systems would not need to see. I wonder what bootloader the img has to have, etc.I know that if you follow the arch wiki, specifically the installation guide, referencing the links they provide when appropriate, you can install a system that way. It works fine, and the commands that are there, you can see as much or as little detail as you need. So you can be like I don't care, just get this thing up and running, and you still have to read a bit and follow what it says, but you don't have to delve in depth about what everything is doing if you don't want to. So, my question would be, is it feasible to convert the talking Arch ISO into an IMG, and have the pi recognize it and boot it. If so, you're all set. Before you start the install, one thing that is not mentioned on the wiki because its irrelevant, the talking Arch latest ISO is from 2017, so not only is it important you get your clock synchronized with ntp and written to the system clock, you also need to refresh the keyring. You need to do that because if not, pacstrap will see PGP keys that are expired, and not allow you to install the packages. I forget the command, I think its like pacman --key --refresh or something. I know that's not right, you'd have to look it up. Re: suggestions needed for good quality laptop
Re: suggestions needed for good quality laptop Hi smoothgunner.I think its normal for the powerfull laptops or laptops in general to have their fans go fast maybe not all the time but they are different from older laptop types.Your fan may go into overdrive for a while till the os starts, and after that may settle into its own rythm. My hp db149au for example is usually quite quiet but will ultar the fan speeds depending on the situation.Thats a good unit to have by the way, hp db0149au, usb2 and a couple of usb 3.1 type a's.SSd reader, an internal toshiba 256gb ssd and a 1tb seagate.Realtech for sound and network and amd for just about everything else.I assume your system is in default configuration still. What I have done is download all drivers for this box, then done a complete reformat and reinstall of latest windows 10.I then have put the drivers back, its hellish to do but worth a trouble free work later.Once you have the programs from the website you may find that it doesn't have issue. After removing the mcafee and other junk from the configurations which it didn't come with things will probably be a lot better to.Going amd however doesn't have the same issues intel have had with their cpus, it also helps that the drivers for the thing are just one massive file rather than smaller ones.I would also pick up a cooling stand for the unit which will lift the unit off the desk a little.By using this, and an external keyboard when at home even just external boards seem to make a difference as I do game a lot you may find things working a lot better.I didn't go with dell because of waves max.The only issues so far with the unit are small.Ie, get power less than 30 on battery and the net can be a bit rubbishy, but thats about it.The only thing I actually don't care about is that you do need to use the actual drivers for sound that come with the unit else you don't get software control of the amp in this box which is powerfull even without enhancements. If you plug in headsets you get a surround sound effect which is utter crap unless you leave the software control on and disable notifications to it.The interface is a bit hit and miss but you can do it if you look at it enough. The hp support program is inaccessible if you login to an hp account but otherwise is fine which is really stupid but oh well. The hp bios update could be better but still. On that note, I'd get the latest drivers for the unit and bios/firmware for the various hardware if it exists on the dell site or whatever before you try again. Re: Procedural Generation in Audio or Text games
Re: Procedural Generation in Audio or Text games Yes, and the same as you would in any other format. The side-scrollers with randomly-placed enemies and obstacles are sorta-kinda procedurally generated content. More like what this usually refers to would be, say, Sengoku Jidai's maps, or Grave of Redemption. As evidenced by including Sengoku Jidai in the list, it's not necessarily easy to do well.DLE does this, also. ... Re: Organizing Projects Accessibly in Reaper?
Re: Organizing Projects Accessibly in Reaper? For as long as I've been using review cursor and object nav, I've been looking for a way to explain it to people that would stick with them, but I haven't found one. I don't find it difficult, but I usually can find some way of explaining things and the other person is like oh, ky, but for this one I can't do that, so I'll just lay it out.If you cut the numpad into columns, the left column is for moving backwards, the middle column is for getting current info, and the right column is for moving forwards. Numpad 7 goes back a line, 4 goes back a word, 1 goes back a character. That means 8 says the current line, 5 says the current word, and 2 says the current character. 9 goes forward a line, 6 goes forward a word, and 3 goes forward a character. You also get double tap and triple tap variants for these. The double taps are for spelling lines and words, and for getting the phonetic representation of a character, like Alpha for A. For triple tap, you get the phonetic representation of the entire line or word, and for characters, it reads the ascii and then the hex value of that character. You can add shift to 7, 9, and 1 and 3 to jump to the top or bottom of the current context, or to jump to the left / right of the line in that context.Adding object navigation takes it a step further, because it moves NVDA's navigator without moving your focus. It's also a way to get access to some programs that don't really have a tab order, but that have accessible enough controls. As long as you have the simple navigation thing on, which it is by default, the order of things is fairly straightforward. You have to sort of think from the top down though, where the desktop is the overarching container of all things, then you have windows, which could have panes or panels, which could have controls or text inside, etc. So NVDA + numpad 8 and 2 will move you up and down the chain, where up is closer to the desktop and down is focusing on a specific thing. 4 and 6 on the numpad with NVDA will move you backwards and forwards between the different elements in the same context you are in. If I'm in the window of an app, it might then say application toolbar, pane, status bar, or some such. There will probably be more in there than that, unless the app has totally inaccessible controls, and in such cases, you might even see fewer details than even that bare example. So to see the stuff in the toolbar, you would hit NVDA and numpad 6 to focus on that, then NVDA numpad 2 to enter it.Just as a quick recap, you use the numpad keystrokes without the NVDA key to move the review cursor around the current focus, you add the NVDA key to numpad 8, 2, 6, and 4 to get control over where NVDA's navigator goes. If you find something like an edit box or a read-only text area using object navigation, you will then be able to look around it using the review cursor keys (not holding NVDA), but not the arrow keys, because remember that NVDA changing where its navigator goes is not the same as the system focus changing.
