Re: Scrolling Battles Pro (SBP) Final Online Version 1.96 with server

Hi.@cmerry: Thanks for your replies. That explains everything regarding why people are getting their servers messed up. I don't trust you, especially not when you have logged in to other peoples servers and changed things, just because you can, because you are one of the developers. You could have contacted the host privately instead of changing things, which you shouldn't be able to do since you don't know the admin password which I assume the host have set.If I host a server and you get angry at me for some reason, you can, as the developer, mess up my server even when you haven't got my admin password. I'm not saying you would do that, but you have just shown people what you are able to do on their servers when you don't have their admin password, by braking into their servers and change things. You could have kept that as a secret, or made some better security regarding this. But instead yu have changed things on peoples servers instead of contacting them privately, because you wanted something to change, instead of letting it be up to the host to decide what he would do with his server. This is an other way for you as the developer to say: I have the full control. If people don't do as I want, I just log into their servers and change things to what I want.Sorry, but no way. This is not the way to go if you wanna be a trusted developer.

Re: Pokémon Sword and shield announced!

Ever since they ruined pokemon cries in gen VI, I've been kinda turned off the series. It's becoming more and more gimmicky in my opinion, and is focusing less on strategy. Want proof? Go look up VGC19 battle format, where literally almost every team has a Xerneas on it. It's just...we have 700+ pokemon now? Maybe more? And yet we're still down to the same 30-40 for competitive play. It proves to me that sadly the game has run its course. I mean, okay, cash cow, may as well rake it in and all, but I'm just...not feeling it. I'm not one of those diehards who feel like the game peaked in gen 2 and has been downhill ever since - there have been definite improvements, for me at least, right into gen VI - but on the whole, I just don't feel the magic anymore. Most of Sun-Moon's pokemon had huge weird stat deficiencies and ultimately didn't work out. The whole z-move thing just eliminates a lot of strategy, IMHO, and the confusion/burn nerfs just make the annoyer strats less viable. it's entirely possible that Nintendo/Gamefreak will do wonderful things with sword-shield, and if they do, then cool. I'll keep an eye out and I'll give it a chance. I'm just dubious, that's all.

Ready to Roll - RPG Dice User Guide

Ready to Roll - RPG Dice User Guide

IntroductionRoll for initiative. Roll for ability. Roll for advantage.Prepare to experience a new level of independence in your tabletop role play gaming adventures.Introducing... Ready to Roll, a blind and low vision accessible RPG dice manager.Roll multiple dice and dice types quickly and efficiently. Save custom rolls and review previous rolls. Roll percentile and for advantage. Change voice over speed and type. Have individual dice rolls read out.Enjoy the magic of easy navigation, full voice acting, and the freedom of having a set of RPG dice on hand, ready to roll when you are.Specifically designed for blind, low vision and also sighted players, Ready to Roll is now available on the Apple App Store.Ready to Roll is a dice rolling app specifically designed for blind and visually impaired people, though it is also completely usable by sighted people as well. In addition to being able to roll all common dice types, you can also roll for advantage, roll percentile dice, add modifiers, and roll multiple dice types at once. The app was designed with the input of numerous blind and visually impaired testers and gamers, so all the tasks were also designed with attention to detail and ease for all players. Rather than using VoiceOver to read the app's content, a professional voice actor reads all content, including app screens and dice rolls. This app can be used for any situation where dice might be useful, and even has several noteable options specifically for tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons.Taps, Presses, and swipesThroughout this guide, you will be instructed to use a number of gestures with the app. To avoid confusion, these terms will be defined briefly here.Tap: briefly press and immediately release the screen with one or two fingers.Press: Press your fingers to the screen for aproximately one to two seconds, hold them on the screen, and then release themSwipe: With the phone held in portrait mode, move your finger across the screen in the direction indicated. (Up, down, left or right.)Universal GesturesThere are a number of gestures which are useful regardless of what screen you are on. Pressing with one finger reads the content of any page, while pressing with two fingers on the screen lists the available actions for a given page. These gestures are universal in help, settings, and dice rolling pages.App layoutWhen you first launch the app, you will be on the app's Home page. Pressing and holding with 1 finger- the gesture to read a page- will prompt the app to describe the app's cover art. Pressing and holding two fingers will cause the app to read the available actions you can take from the Home page. From the Home page, the app is laid out in a cross shape, with Home at the center. Swiping up from the Home page brings you first to the Guide, then to Settings, and finally to a Blessing, which reads a pre-recorded Bible verse. Swiping down from Home brings you first to Previous and then to Credits. Swiping left from Home takes you through all of the possible dice types in order from smallest to largest, followed by specialized and custom dice. Swiping right takes you first to your saved custom dice, and then through the dice types in order of custom, specialized, and then largest to smallest. The horizontal menu wraps, so it is possible to get to any of the items from either direction, though quicker depending on which direction is closest to your intended target. Swiping left through the options, they are:D4D6D8D10D12D20ModifierD100 (percentile dice)D20 AdvantageCustom 3Custom 2Custom 1Swiping left or right from any of the other vertical pages also brings you through these options, so you do not specifically have to be on Home, but can get to these options by swiping left or right on any of the items in the vertical menu.A note about what some of these options areIn almost all cases, a d followed by a number refers to the number of sides each dice has. For example, a d6 plays a dice sound and then generates a number between one and six. An exception to this rule is the d100, which, rather than generating a number between 1 and 100, instead rolls 1 die which increases in increments of 10 from 0 to 90 and 1 10-sided die and then adds those two values together.A modifier refers to a value which represents a character's aptitude for a given skill, and adds or subtracts the given value from your dice roll. In the app, modifiers can range from -5 to +30.Advantage refers to a mechanic common in Dungeons and Dragons, though used in other systems as well, wherein a character's aptitude for a skill gives them advantage on a roll. In-world, this means the chances of them doing certain tasks poorly is supposed to be very low. It would be very uncommon, for example, for a master negotiator to fail to be persuasive in an important situation. Increasing Awareness on Audiogames

2019-02-27 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : daisyalesoundworks via Audiogames-reflector

Increasing Awareness on Audiogames

Hey everyone, Brian here. I'm the guy working on Lost and Hound, and another fully visual audiogame called Legacies that is a submarine stealth/narrative based game. I've also worked with Blind Sparrow on Ready to Roll, and I'm working with Ebon Sky Studios on Sable and Crimson Eclipse. A lot of my work in the past year has been behind the scenes and I have stopped updating demo versions of Lost and Hound, so I wanted to kind of post about stuff I've been doing to raise awareness of the blind gaming scene. Development on Lost and Hound is still going. I'm trying to add systems to the game so that you aren't doing the same thing over and over - following the trail. I'm trying to add little minigames like fetching a ball, playing tug of war or whatever to break it up. I've been presenting at conventions, most recently PAX Australia about the world of blind gaming. My talks are received very well, and people are incredibly interested in learning more about audiogames because it's generally completely new information to people. If you want to hear my talk, here is one of them. It's about designing games around accessibility, instead of finishing a game and clumsily retrofitting. https://youtu.be/g8omiypHUGcHere is an interview I did with Intel - it was about 5 minutes long and they cut it down to 1:25. It is not the best setting, on the show floor but it was nice that Intel took an interest in the audiogame scene. Here's an accessibility overview of Legacies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiqxkXE-Qd8So I know it seemed like I disappeared after a good amount of Lost and Hound development, but I'm still here and development is still going! I'm demoing it at PAX East in Boston next month, and hopefully speaking on accessibility design. Thank you all for your support on our Sable Holman Prize video, by the way.

I'd be good for screams, but not for announcing item names, other peeps have better voices for that sort of thing.

Re: Scrolling Battles Pro (SBP) Final Online Version 1.96 with server

2019-02-27 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : austen via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Scrolling Battles Pro (SBP) Final Online Version 1.96 with server

I am currently running 2 versions of sbp, one is the latest version with the single main server, and the second is chris's server with the latest version supporting multi-server list.A few thoughts and or requests that I've noticed,1. it seems like not many have switched to the new server, I think the game itself is great and has a great concept but is very basic yet, and because of it still being quite basic I think people are still flocking to smaller servers were they know each other and have lots of points, and were the hosts can edit the map slightly for varrying results. While this may not reflect on the game itself, I believe adding features that improve the game forward is what is going to diferentiate from the custom servers and the newer single server. While I am still not a huge fan of having a game were everyone was comfortable with servers, for example the road to rage has always had this feature, and has basicly been the 3d version of sbp, I can understand some of the needs for doing so, so please try to also understand the problems from a developer standpoint.2. the potions don't seem to do anything, and with the advent of the P key not being used to display points and instead showing power on the ofline mode, I think there needs to be keys added for both points and checking slash using potions.3. I feel like the map is quite basic, and though this is great for a beginning game I suggest creating more features to stretch out the killing, and to add more stratagy instead of pure moving and shooting. this is not a negative comment just an overall feeling that the game needs to change. this said I think this game should be considered an alpha and or beta and people should be more forward thinking and willing to see where it goes, though I think drastic changes should hopefully be minimal to keep interest.4. feature suggestions, are not necessarily objective just my thoughts for future game development, the ability to pick up weapons and or need separate weapons like in online shooting games such as quake, trtr, swamp, and others. THis way not everyone has the same machine gun or laser etc. A store to spend bucks or points, maybe items spawns are limited to dollars and or items dropped by killed players such as ammunition, and a store to buy such goods could minimize on item lag on servers where items are sitting around. I also thought items that sometimes do bad things like explode, or give temporary boosts to speed, jumping, damage reduction etc. I also think the map needs more depth, more platforms to jump onto instead of climbing, safe areas for people who want to chat, and or walls to hide behind and or jump over. Maybe fires that are permenant, etc...Again all thoughts and ideas rather then a review, so please don't take my words too criticly. On the note of versions, I will continue playing both versions until the time that the single server version has features that draw me away, I think people are stubborn and like the quietness and ability of chris to keep the people on the server clean, and the fact that we don't have to contend with others who are in deed childish or hacks. THis said I am looking forward to further development of the game and will stay tuned for what may come of it.

Re: Is there a good Skype version left?

lol I used skype 8 for about 2 months starting back in september. got used to it over that short amount of time. I did decide to use skype 7 for one last time though after that, just in case they were actually going to end support for it. I never went back to 8. the day skype 8 gets split windows I'll think about going back to it. the skype for windows 10 is just as bad. I used CCleaner to uninstall that thing. but yeah I love skype 7  and am currently on 7.3 with no plans to go back to skype 8 even if support is ended for 7.

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta63)

2019-02-27 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : Jayde via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta63)

I'd like to make a couple of suggestions:1. Make it so that you get 1 gem for every 60 coins in battle mode, and allow us to get 2-3 gems for every time we beat the council. The only way to currently earn gems in battle mode is via the council, and you get one at a time. I think for those of us who actually want to play this side of the game over the rest, it's pretty punishing at present.2. I'd like there to be an option opened up by default once you beat the Council for the first time, where you can play against bots as per normal, but you can customize the HP they'll have. So if I wanted, 100, 200 and then 300HP, I could do that. Not only do I think a player who's beaten the council has earned this right, but it'll let them test long-term viability for higher HP competition, which seems to be all the rage online. It's a bit tricky to test bigger/stronger decks when you have a 30HP limit to play with and can get cheesed to death pretty arbitrarily.3. Can you please, please make all the mace cards 100% accurate, and tweak Minuet of the Forest or whatever it's called so that it's 100% accurate? They're 80 and 90, respectively, and I just don't get that.4. Can we get some more environments to help flesh out some other types? Examples below.Hive: 3 power on bug attacks, 1 power on grass attacks, -1 power on fighting attacks, -1 power on normal attacksPower Plant: +4 power on electric attacks, +2 power on steel attacks, -3 power on grass attacksAnd some postures:Meditative: +5 power on psychic attacks, +2 power on magic attacks, -3 power on physical launched attacks, +4 power on physical received attacks, +3 power on dark received attacks, +2 power on electric received attacksHydromancer: +3 power on magic launched attacks, +3 power on water launched attacks, +1 power on electric launched attacks, -5 power on physical launched attacks, +2 power on physical received attacks, +3 power on grass received attacksBird of Prey: +4 power on flying launched attacks, -3 power on magic launched attacks, +2 power on physical launched attacks, +2 power on rock received attacks, +2 power on ice received attacks, +1 power on electric received attacksStuff like that. I dunno.

Hi everyone,I'm sure many of you remember the old somethin else titles like Papa Sangre, NightJar, and PS2. I happen to have all these titles on my old iPhone from 2012/2013. Would you guys like to see a stream where I play these games? Maybe for every $10 I play more and more. My main goal here is to try to finish an entire game in one stream. I think I'll be able to do it with PS1,, but god only knows if I'll be able to do it with PS2. I could never get past the damn level 13 or 14, not sure which one. I have other older titles too, so I may play those on the stream. This would be an all day event, etc. What do you guys thing?

@siriaThanks for the great feedback. If you're looking to get the most out of the app, I would suggest checking out Tangela Mahaffey's excellent user guide, which can be found online here: http://blindsparrowinteractive.com/read … guide.htmlYour suggestion for an option to re-roll dice are very valid for games that require that. I was just recently asked if the app can be used to play Farkle, for instance. We'll explore the possibility, but there's a level of complexity there when you start rolling 8 different dice. Or 9 dice and a modifier. We've already started an internal list of suggested features. We've already noted your suggestion of Fate dice. We'll add these new ones to that list. Expanding and updating the feature set is something we are considering, though we'd like to hear more feedback first, if only to find out which features are the most desirable. Once again, thanks for your feedback.

Re: how do you guys handle shaving

I myself have used both. it all depends on what kind of shave you are wanting. I you want a completely clean smooth shave I recommend a treditional manual raiser.  That comes with the chance of cutting yoursself though.  You can avoid cuts once you get the hang of it.  I am not saying that if you chose this method you would me a fountain of blood, not true. I am just saying its tricky and takes some time to get used too.  so if you don't want that I recommend an electric shaver.  You have to shave more often with an electric, but it is worth if you don't want the cuts.  I myself prefur a manual raiser.

I'm actually inclined to agree with Liam and others here. While I don't use ocr myself for scanning menues in games, I have used ocr machines and devices and while some are better than others, I think I would much rather have text to speach actually built into the games themselves rather than trying to take picture of each and every screen and not getting good results back. If the text to speach were built right into the game, it would read the menues and other items back the way the developers intended. I'm also looking forward to seeing games actually being made accessible and not just the menues either but the games themselves. That is comeing, I sense it.

Re: getting started with obs?

I have in fact used an audio interface before. The way it worked for me was I'd plug it in through USB, and then I would control each individual mic from the interface itself. But I could set the whole of the interface to listen to line 1, and it would then be put through there. Listening is kind of what plugging in means in windows. You don't have to assign line 1 to any input on an interface, or at least I never did. Have you tried doing this before with the latest virtual audio cable 415?Sorry, I just can't seem to explain this right.

Re: Trimps

It might be worth raising Github issues, since the developers likely do check there, also I did see on the wiki something about a donator currency, so if there is a donator email address that might be worth a try (that was how I found the developer of Kittens game). I have found a few shortcuts though wandering around the page. First, is that the "custom" button is the only actual link, so you can use that to find the tabs for building etc, likewise, the list of things just under the building kew is a list, so hitting l or shift l is a good way to get to and from the bottom of your log.  There is also something I discovered by accident which makes those mouseovers a bit more friendly and almost serves as the mouseover key I wanted, namely that every mouseover in the game comes with a separator, this means you can just hit numbpad slash and then  S and instantly get to the explanation of something, very handy for looking at building upgrades. I also have not been using the auto fight option since I@d always rather check the log to make sure what I'm going up against is fightable.I've finished zone one and I can see the appeal of the game, i am amused at all the random creature names, but the interface does need a bit of tweaking, since its still not exactly %100 easy to jump around even by using the tricks I mentioned.

Unless there's a way to contact him through github that I don't know about. Either way it'll probably be up to someone else as I don't game much and only really play FFRK these days.

Re: decrypting bgt stuff?

@11, and again, I doubt your claim. BGT does not have the ability to read raw memory. I find it very hard to believe that you could easily figure out the key for any BGT game or pack file with BGT alone. If BGT had the ability to read and write raw memory I think someone like cartertemm would've figured that out long ago and we wouldn't need to delve into debuggers to figure out the decryption key for sounds.

Re: Is there a good Skype version left?

When reading through forums about Skype 8, I recommend to track their date. People did not understand Skype 8 when it was released. They thought it was a release like thatone from version 6 to 7.But that's not the case. Skype 8 was most likely rewritten from scratch to _javascript_, what means developers needed to test basic functionality before they could add other functions. That's the reason why people were complayining about missing features. After basics were tested, developers added those as well. Now Skype 8 can do nearly everything what Skype 7, it fixed few ugly bugs like messing audio during calls and has some really nice features like tracking who has already read a conversation or use of webview as its native interface. The lastone mentioned is especially useful. In Skype 7, I used a layout where every conversation had its own window. And if new message appeared, I never knew who wrote it when I was handling multiple conversations at once and even if I knew, I needed to switch to second window, enter the conversation list and read the last message just to find out that someone asked for some stupidity. In Skype 8, everything is in one window. That may look unpractical, but with the webview I found it very confortable. When a new message from other conversation arriwes, while I'm chatting with someone, al I need to do is to go up with ctrl + home, and look to upper bar, where last conversations are shown along with their last message. So I see who wrote me, what he / she wrote and I can decide, if it's worth answering immediately or if it can wait.If I handle for example 5 conversations at once, I can use this to easily decide the most interesting conversation and priorities for other conversations from one place. And if I want to stay in currentone, all I need to do is to press e key, which jumps to next edit field like on a web, that's the send message field when a conversation is opened. And if you either aren't confortable with this method, you can still set Skype to open new window for every conversation, this option is already implemented.Of course if you consider for some reason Skype 7 better than Skype 8, it's okay. I just wanted to show that Skype 8 isn't that bad how it may look for first time or how some people say.I recommend to try it out yourself in current version, if you already didn't.Best regardsRastislav

@kyleman123Apologies. The post is not meant to come across as vague. It's intent is to find out what skills people on this forum do have. We are currently in the process of working through the design and scope of our next project, so we don't yet have specifics on which roles we will need to fill yet. Based on this post, we've already had emails from members of their forum, introducing themselves and telling us a little about what skills they have. This is very beneficial. If a sound designer or voice actor or web developer emails us like this we have a great idea as to who we might be able to easily approach and the level of their skill. It certainly is preferable to having to create a specific job ad; often we can tailor a position to someone who sounds like a great fit. I understand that this is counter to the usual process of having a specific ad and formal interviews. If this is problematic for the community, I'm happy to stop posting like this. I certainly understand your concerns.@ethin @tysonsylvester123I've spent the last decade and a half in the professional games industry. For too long there have been problems with the way that women and minority groups have been cut out of dev opportunities. The reasons for this is not a topic I wish to discuss here, but rather a fact and a situation that needs to be redressed. It is a regular practice now for game studios to emphasise that women are welcome, and to encourage them to apply for positions. As a white male myself, I understand that it can be confronting; we all want to work and be valued for our work, believing that everything is a perfectly balanced meritocracy. But it never has been perfectly balanced. As in many areas of life, people see through their prejudices - be that towards our physical ability, our gender, our race, our age, our beliefs. If you want, follow us on Twitter at https:twitter.com/blindsparrowint. We post every day about what we are doing and where we are at with projects.I hope that makes things a little clearer. But, additionally, here are some answers to your questions:What sort of team will we be working on?Most of our team are contractors. It's short term work, or specific tasks. Eg. Tangela Mahaffey was contracted to write a technical user's guide at a certain rate per hour. It was five hours of work. What languages or experiences do we need? This depends on your field of skill and what we need. We really just want to know what skills and experience you have. Sometimes, we work with people who don't have much experience, but have excellent skills and show real promise. We are very much about providing new opportunities and the professional experience of working on a project. All work is paid.Is this a remote position?Yes. On our first project we worked with people from Brazil, the UK, the US and Australia. We are already in discussions with two people for project two: one is from Singapore, the other from Finland. Are there any limitations as far as work laws in the country you do business? Not when it is freelance contract work, no. It would be different - and far more complicated - if the person became an employee.

Re: decrypting bgt stuff?

@Ethin: I didn't said cryptography is bad at all. Cryptographic algorithms themselves like AEs Rijndael or Serpent are fine. If you encrypt a string with bgt and store it somewhere, with good key it is impossible to decrypt it.However problems appear when a program which is fully under your control works with encrypted data. I have played around with Hero's call some time ago trying to get its sounds. And I wasn't successful at this, because I didn't know the format in which they were saved.Of course, if I invested more time to it, I might use disassembler to look how data are processed, which functions are called, etc. But it could take days, weeks, or even years of work if algorithm in c++ was complicated enough for me to find out what's happening. That's a lot when compared with BGT, where all implementation details are known and you have tools to reproduce loading, you need just to find right key.And if this key lies unprotected in memory of program, which you can easily access, then it is trivial even for a program in BGT to find it.Of course this is not the case of modern good written apps, you can't even use this technique to get to macbooks anymore, after Apple's fix, but in BGT...The key can be found in minutes, without guessing or disassembling.Regarding packages yes, that's just one layer of 'protection' and you still need to get encryption key to be able to get playable sounds. That's the reason why I wrote exact steps how to do this. Even if some kid reproduces them, he / she will most likely to get just encrypted files. And it is still a good preview what are the risks of BGT's security. If I received an executable in C++ with packed sounds, I would need to use debugger to see how they are stored and how can I get them. If I received a program in BGT, I would already know, what to do. Best regardsRastislav

Pokémon Sword and shield announced!

The Pokémon direct aired this morning, and the newest mainline Pokémon RPGs, sword and Shield have been confirmed to launch on the Nintendo Switch sometime before the end of 2019Not many details are known at this point, but these games appear to be returning to basics rather than using the ideas introduced in the lets go games. This means random battles are back, and Pokémon no longer follow the player character in the field.Hopefully this means things like the wall bump sound return along with constant footstep sounds rather than the fading ones found in the lets go games.Being on the Switch, this means that we might even get a controllable camera rather than the automated one found in the 3DS titles.Only time will actually tell us blind fokes what; if any; features will be in these games that can aid us in playing them.I just thought; as no one else has done it; that I'd make this topic to collect your thoughts on this new generation of Pokémon, and if it's going to push more of us away, or reunite us in our ability to play these games again. What we know so far...The thre new starters are the grass monkey Grookey, the fire rabit Scorbunny, and the water lizard Sobble. The new Galar region appears to be based on Britain.Gygms are returning. The games are coming out near the end of 2019.Later!

I admit   I quit playing because of the amount of screen jumping required. The pace of the game has you constantly assigning and re-assigning workers to maximize progress. Though it can be paused like kittens game, it was a bit disheartening to see that the progress I made in a week was normal for sighted players to make in a day or 2.Perhaps someone with more time could check out some of the endgame content since that's when the game really opens up. The first 59 zones are practically the same, then things start to really change after that. There's even multiple things to be unlocked by portaling, perks, masteries and other benefits.

Remember that there is a pause link in the log. You should always take note of the season, and when it hits winter check you don't have a negative amount of catnip per tick. to begin with, you will need about 40 or 50 catnip fields at the start to support two kittens, the sooner you can build the library, research agriculture and recruit farmers the better. After that point, always check your catnip supply in winter and if it goes negative, reassign your kittens as farmers AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

I agree with 2. The last time you posted about something like this didn't give me any form of confidence or favor in or towards you, especially that tidbit about "women being encouraged to apply" on the end. That was actually kind of creepy. If your open to all people, no matter about their race, ethnicity, etc, adding that little tidbit should be entirely unnecessary and makes (me at least) think that your "encouraging" women to apply over other sexes. A bit sexist, wouldn't you say?

2019-02-27 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : ironcross32 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Creating an audio game using Sable (video 6), by Ebon Sky Studios

I kind of think the formulas for calculating damage, at least as described in the various fields as you created weapons, abilities and so on seem a bit limited. I hope in the future, creators would be able to create their own formulas. Note, this isn't scripting per se, just adjusting the math that gets done. For instance, on scaling, rather than tying an ability to the level of the player, it would be nice to add a multiplier to that as well to put it always just a bit more. Also, I would like to see as much flexibility. I take your no scripting as a hard stance, I disagree with this stance, but do so respectfully, after all it is your project, and if that is the goal, then so be it. However, given that, I would like to see as much customization as possible within the confines that would naturally exist in an engine where coding/scripting isn't an option. Just as suggested by other users, perhaps the user wants to create an RPG set in a different time. Then you might not want to use very obviously fantasy descriptors for your stats like int wis char str and so forth. Or you could define different behaviors. I'm envisioning a creative process that doesn't involve any code, but reacts in such a way as creating Siri shortcuts. You do get to customize your Siri shortcut, yes you will deal with variables and so forth, but no you don't actually write code. You basically drag actions from the tray at the bottom into the main field, then you fill in the parameters, the actions run through in a sequence, where the output of one is piped into the input of the next one down (unless that action doesn't accept the input or is designed to do something else with it instead). I could see something like this where you still could stick with your original premise of the user not writing any code, but which would satisfy a wider array of advanced things. By no means am I suggesting forcing the more advanced aspects on everyone, simply just adding them to a collection of tools that already exist in the Sable toolbox. It would be like if you have the most common wrenches in one tray, then you get into the specialized wrenches for a specific job, or that are a specific size or something like that in another tray.I think customization is key. In all ways, I would like to make a game that feels like me, if that makes any sense. I've done some web development, at a very amateur level mind, but I've done it. Now, one of the reasons I don't like to use a CMS like Wordpress is because unless I literally want to write my own theme, or modify an existing one, there's not a lot I can do to make my site feel like my site. Oh sure I have a huge array of colors to choose from, I can put the side bar on either side, put whatever I want into it, etc. But the more you dig into wordpress to make it feel more uniquely you, the more inadequate it feels. This is why I feel that Sable could be made even greater by not imposing artificial limitations on the creators, such as hard coding things that really don't need to be hard coded. For instance, let the creator decide how many sounds per action of a particular enemy, object, or player there are. Let the player redefine the mechanics by as much as possible without introducing scripting.I think hopefully I've made some sense here. I know there's a lot going on with funding and the like, and perhaps some features that can't be put in the initial release can be added at a later date when some of that revenue is recouped after people start to buy Sable. No matter what happens, Sable will still be unique, in that it will be the first product of its kind in the audiogames market. I wish you guys a great deal of success and have liked and your Holman Prize video and subbed to your channel.

Re: getting started with obs?

Have you ever used an audio interface before? Just curious. Interfaces have multiple inputs, and each of those would have to be sent through to virtual audio cable which can't be done through the windows sound pannel as that sound pannel doesn't support asio connections. Even if I enable listen on a VAC line, line 1 for example, nothing will come through it unless you can set the individual mic input to go through that VAC line which has to be done within the app itself. And I'm not sure what you mean by having my interface listen to line 1... even if you do, that line would have nothing coming through it... and in order to record or stream, that line has to be assigned to an input on the interface. Unless I am missing something here. You also can't set individual output devices for Reaper, you can only choose an overall audio device and the output is handled on the hardware end. Post 4, step 8 is impossible if you're using an audio interface and if you choose line 1 audio as your device, you will not be able to use all the mic inputs on an audio interface because it's the wrong device. You only have access to all inputs and outputs on an audio interface if yu are using Asio or if the interface is class compliant, part of how stupidly windows handles audio.

Re: decrypting bgt stuff?

2019-02-27 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Ethin via Audiogames-reflector

Re: decrypting bgt stuff?

@8 and 9, this is definitely untrue.8: cryptographic keys are stored in the compiled bytecode of the executable, not in the encrypted pack file. If the keys were stored in the pack file, decryption would not be possible without opening the file, figuring out the key offset and reading from there.9: Just because someone knows what algorithm to use for cryptography does in no way mean that cryptography is bad. It does in no way mean that an attacker can easily extract the key from the code of the application. Every good cryptography library has special functions that are used to securely generate, store, utilize, and wipe memory. The only reason people are able to extract keys from BGT so easily is because of one major problem with the way BGT works: the base address is always the same. There is no use of ASLR involved. Since ASLR is not used, it is ridiculously easy to figure out just where each function offset is and put a BP on it. If ASLR were used this would be far more difficult, as even disassemblers would not yield results that could be trusted. I also find it very hard to believe that you have written a program in BGT that is capable of figuring out the cryptographic key used to encrypt data without some kind of disassembler involved. That kind of technology is far beyond BGT's capabilities. Here's my reason why I doubt you: whenever a byte is added to a sequence of bytes, the amount of possible byte sequences grows exponentially. As an example, let's go with the ASCII table since that will be easy to understand. The ASCII has 128 characters, the NULL byte included. For this example, we won't assume that the NULL byte means the end of a character sequence as it does in C, because we don't know if Phillip may have found a way around that. Let's say your sequence of bytes currently is of size 1. That's 128 possibilities. Not hard to iterate through, eh? Let's add some bytes and I shall demonstrate the exponential growth:2 bytes: 256-16,384 possibilities3 bytes: 384-2,097,152 possibilities18 bytes: 2,304-85 undecillion possibilitiesNow, lets bring in the Python unicode table (0x0-0x11). Now we start to get ridiculously large amounts of possibilities. For one byte of an unicode string we have 1,114,112 possibilities right there. Make that sequence 32 bytes long and you've got yourself approximately between 35,651,584 to over 3.1748503857632414... × 10^193 possibilities.Granted, hackers do not guess keys like this -- the time, as you can see, would be astronomically unfeasible. However, hackers usually have debuggers, hex editors and other tools available to them to aid in the task of breaking encryption. BGT does not however provide such tools. I am perhaps over-complicating the problem, but unless you can provide proof to back up your claim, I certainly will not take you seriously. I doubt that if I gave you a pack file encrypted with a 1024-byte key your little program could crack it in a few minutes. As for the pack file thing, yes, the pack file has a "known" header. However, remember that its possible to add encrypted sounds to pack files and then decrypt them when you need them and still include them in an executable. I have a program that can extract pack files but I still have to get the key(s) first, which does solicit a debugger. Perhaps I'm wong on what I've said, but I still have my doubts about your 'program'.

You probably don't want to read books set in Britain, but I would vote for We Didn't Mean to go to Sea by Arthur Ransome. Four youngsters drift out to sea in a sailing boat off the coast of England, and end up crossing the channel. Of all the books I've read about mishaps at sea, this demonstrated more than any other just what trouble you'd be in if you set to sea and didn't know what you were doing. Luckily, these four kids' father is a Captain in the Navy, and they knew all about sailing. What they overcome is the perils of the sea. It's a terrific book, but might be a little dated and dull for some. Another book I'd recommend is Kingdom by the Sea by Robert Westall. Again set in England, this time during the second World War, where a ten-year-old boy survives a direct hit on his house, and believing his parents to be dead, sets off to survive alone. A fantastic book. Again, might possibly be a bit dated and boring to a young person today. Sorry they're both UK based, but those would be my picks anyway.

If nothing else, I can almost guarantee your English teacher will be impressed . These are quality writers.
