@Simba, interestingly enough Dick Francis is one of my lady's favourite writers, and though crime isn't a preferd genre of mine, we've read some of his together which I've enjoyed. I'll have to check out John Flanigan, I also do have one of Daniel Suarez's books though I've not read it yet.What I read is usually partly dictated by what I have to review, and I usually tend to intersperse either short story collections or doctor who audio dramas while I'm writing reviews for the actual novels I've read (I don't tend to review short story collections because I'd have to effectively write a separate review for each story). That's why at the moment I'm reading through a long collection of stories by Frederik Pohl, one of the most fun sf writers of the last century and someone whose books I've previously very much enjoyed. Then of course I'm working on my own writing as well (at least when I  distract myself from leading my trimps). And of course I have my own writing to do as well.

The current location is https://trimps.github.io/ScreenReader  I'm afraid I'm not sure where the download link is, since while the game is on github, I'm not sure which version is the screen reader one, though I'd suggest coming to the Trimps topic and reporting issues since the developer is being so awesome about access.

It's possible to get to that chest way out in the middle of nowhere. Just get to it quickly and open it before you land.Totally confused on where you stuck at, but I seem to remember there being a cave out west of the city. Are you willfully going the wrong way? The only thing you gonna get for running around and killing stuff is sword level which ain't all bad I suppose. It'll make your later fights easier.

To me the best would be that all 3 screen-readers stay there, because I always like to have more option. There is always something not working and even if it's rare, usually switching screen reader will do the trick. If there is only one screen reader and it doesn't work, then you are screwed.

@The Imaginatrix, ask away plenty of people have asked questions in this topic already. My first run I got to zone 30, since you  get an award if you reach zone  30 using less than 60 helium, though I admit the last few zones got a wee bit draggy. Right now I finished balanced, got the underbalanced achievement. I was going to portal straight away, but as I had to be away for the night I got a bunch of resources, so I might as well buy an upgrade or too and see if I can gather a wee bit more helium. I haven't decided which challenge to try next, I'm tempted to rerun balance to try and farm some more helium, since really I was quite surprised just how quickly it went, though I am also tempted to try scientist ii or meditate. Decay looks incredibly difficult and I hope Green Satellite can add a stacks line to the world display for that one too, indeed due to the  to race a second counter, it likely wouldn't have even been thinkable until the access fixes, though whether or not it is too fast we'll have to see, though I think I'd like to prepare a little bit more before trying that one out.

I agree. I say more. In my opinion, Constant Battle is the most complex and activity-packed online game we have in our market. Ultra Power has nothing to do with it. He had no history, quests, cities, various means of transport, etc. The work of the Renovagames programmers is and can be seen. I wrote a guide for CB that occupies about 7 pages. But I have not yet described all the aspects of the game.

Narrator can get as good as it wants, as can NVDA and JAWS. I'll switch between them as is necessary, exactly like I do now. First one to allow me to access my personal machines over Teamviewer wins. NVDA Remote is nice, but I'm a little lacking in spare Windows servers to run it on. JAWS's remote access option is nice, but that costs extra (I have it), and it's only available if you're running JAWS pro (I am, for reasons), and a lot of things have to go exactly right for you to actually use the feature--including the computer you're remoting into running an equal or earlier version of JAWS than you are, so your remote access authorisation will actually work. Plus, Remote Desktop isn't actually available on windows 10 unless you're running pro and explicitly enable it, so it's either Teamviewer, LogMeIn, or nothing. If Narrator can fill that gap and allow me remote access without shitting the bed, then on days I need that access, Narrator will be my best friend. Similarly, if I discover that JAWS will let me do it, VFO, or FS, or whatever they're calling themselves by this time 2020 can take my money and say thank you. And if NVDA invents an option that isn't NVDA Remote, I'm all in. Other than that, I have no loyalty. JAWS is my go-to for my server work, NVDA is my go-to if I need to turn and burn a VM for reasons, and Narrator stays in the back pocket if I need to squish an edge case the other two miss--usually because that edge case caused one or both of them to choke on themselves and die. If any one of them use what's going on as an excuse to improve, I win. If JAWS and NVDA fold, I'll buy a Mac. If I'm going to be forced to rely on one screenreader, I may as well rely on the one with experience being decent at it.

@Firefly fair enough, I admit for me I've had a decent quality broadband connection so long I don't think about it, actually it seems quite odd to remember ten years ago when I was staying in a town for three weeks for a music festival and had to run to the pub everyday to use the internet since my hotel didn't have a net connection available, (I bet people thought I was an alcoholic), .Good to know that the screen reader version of Trimps is downloadable, I wasn't exactly sure which version on Github had the screen reader code and which didn't since I do believe there are separate versions.

Will the customer ever encourage or promote the place on being asked by his contacts? Had the police force surrounded the offender himself and given him blatent warning with a series of hostile glares demonstrating a "no fucking around" policy, wouldn't the citezens admire the police force and felt secure?now, if we look closely, the users of this type (offenders as per the above example) might enter another topic, spread toxic substances, and the topic is likely to be locked in response. do that particular action act as a deterrent to users who don't learn from their misadventures? also, do we really need to cling on to their boots with that amount of desperation?as of recent, another such user was banned as far as I'm aware, but it is equally significant to look at the amount of time and effort exhausted in order to get him where he belongs. I'm not trying to come down on these people; they deserve to be a part of the community as well, but this forum can't afford the extreme amount of tollerence towards the offenders.on one hand, the current moderators act out of their own judgements and preferences to deem a discussion not fit for the forum based on an anticipated behavior of a single user or a group of users, on the other hand, they lock the thread for everyone and further shield such confrontational users because there is nothing to stop them from going on another thread, spoil the thread, and get it closed for rest of the members. I understand that the moderators would prefer a maximum amount of patience before issuing official warnings and handing out temporary and permanent bans to users, but going soft on them had produced a forum which has far more closed threads on a single page compared to at least out of 10 similar pages 5 years ago; which suggests something is wrong. Also, as far as past moderators are concerned, they opened their backpacks, pulled their moderation hats and wore them before going on with their moderation business, and removed the hat and put it back in the backpack as soon as the moderation business was carried out. this behavior seriously helped them to separate their personal preferences and desires from the moderation duties. if we look at the kind of words used in the message, I'm afraid that phrases like "death and beyond", "resulted in me essentially confronting people", "why the heck", "Rather than re-engage that discussion", "to me at least", "bordering on personal attack, not just toward myself but toward others as well", "You think you have the right to", "Speaking personally, this is getting very tiresome", "it's warning time", "And I'm locking this thread", "We do not need this discussion right now(with a special emphasis on need)", don't seem to be coming from an actual moderator who is appointed for the benefit of the forum and the community at large.In essence, it is practically hard to find that level of personalized content in a single moderation post if one wanders as far out as to look at general moderator warnings and explainations issued by our past moderators including dark, aprone, lukas, arqmeister, aaron. hi,I did not want this topic to turn the way it had turned out, but we're relatively missing the original points.I would like to know from the moderators under which particular community rules, regulations or implied guidelines the user had been issued a warning and the thread permanently closed?do each moderator represent himself/herself while declaring moderations?do the actions of a single moderator indicate an absence of representation among the moderation team as evident from "I", "i'm", or "me", rather than "we", or "us", or "'ed"?had an ordinary user posted a general thread regarding the subject, is it highly likely the thread would be locked out as well, on the pretext of the matter being discussed earlier?now, what I was intending to find out is, if we look at the scenario from the community point of view, and in case a user was being confrontational about the issue in previous threads, why the urgency to conduct a preemptive strike on the entire topic instead of warning the user within a personal capacity. as he seems to have received a warning anyway, he is expected to abide by the community rules or face further consequences. in real life, does your police force, on spotting a known offender, come out and swoop down on the place and evacuate the entire building including the offender, instead of swooping down on the offender and ushering him out of the building itself? actually, the question is not about the authenticity of the moderators intentions; it is about the approach adopted to exert the intentions. looking at the above example, suppose a new customer is about to set his foot on the bar which is being evacuated along with the offender, will the customer be further inclined to visit that place in future? Will the customer ever encourage or promote the place on being asked by his contacts? Had the police force surrounded the offender himself and given him blatent warning with a series of hostile glares demonstrating a "no fucking around" policy, wouldn't the citezens admire the police force and feel secure?now, if we look closely, the users of this type (offenders as per the above example) might enter another topic, spread toxic substances, and the topic is likely to be locked in response. do that particular action act as a deterrent to users who don't learn from their misadventures? (unlikely)also, do we really need to cling on to their boots with that amount of desperation?as of recent, another such user was banned as far as I'm aware, but it is equally significant to look at the amount of time and effort exhausted in order to get him where he belongs. I'm not trying to come down on these people; they deserve to be a part of the community as well, but this forum can't afford the extreme amount of tollerence towards the offenders.on one hand, the current moderators act out of their own judgements and preferences to deem a discussion not fit for the forum based on an anticipated behavior of a single user or a group of users, on the other hand, they lock the thread for everyone and further shield such confrontational users because there is nothing to stop them from going on another thread, spoil the thread, and get it closed for rest of the members. I understand that the moderators would prefer a maximum amount of patience before issuing official warnings and handing out temporary and permanent bans to users, but going soft on them had produced a forum which has far more closed threads on a single page compared to at least out of 10 similar pages 5 years ago; which suggests something is wrong. Also, as far as past moderators are concerned, they had opened their backpacks, pulled their moderation hats and wore them before going on with their moderation business, and removed the hat and put it back in the backpack as soon as the moderation business was carried out. this behavior seriously helped them to separate their personal preferences and desires from the moderation duties. if we look at the kind of words used in the message, I'm afraid that phrases like "death and beyond", "resulted in me essentially confronting people", "why the heck", "Rather than re-engage that discussion", "to me at least", "bordering on personal attack, not just toward myself but toward others as well", "You think you have the right to", "Speaking personally, this is getting very tiresome", "it's warning time", "And I'm locking this thread", "We do not need this discussion right now(with a special emphasis on need)", don't seem to be coming from an actual moderator who is appointed for the benefit of the forum and the community at large.In essence, it is practically hard to find that level of personalized content in a single moderation post if one wanders as far out as to look at general moderator warnings and explainations issued by our past moderators including dark, aprone, lukas, arqmeister and aaron. Hello everyone,The following is part rant and part asking for help Well, Let's first begin with notepad2:I was happily using notepad2 for my coding needs untill I stumbled upon "[setting2]" section in notepad2.ini file.I visited FAQ section on its website and found out what it is good for.So I decided to put a dot (.) for the DefaultDirectory so that it always would show open dialog in the current directory.Like this: DefaultDirectory=.Now, I can't get it to follow the last opened document. Nothing changes when I remove that dot infront of equals sign.Well, it gladly uses any directory I write there but when I leave it empty like default it doesn't comply with my wishes  and opens the Open/Save Dialog in the current directory.I'm using notepad2 portable.It says on the website that it doesn't touch my registry but there's nothing in this ini file so...Now We get to Notepad++.Actually the reason why I switched to notepad2 was because of an issue I've had with notepad++ and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fix it.Whell, I was working on a python source code and I've nested a tun of ifs and loops (a bit exaggerating) so I was deep in indentation. Well, I guess, I will also just wait with updating for now. For me, the most important Addon is the Eloquence-Addon. I can't stand ESpeak. By the way. I know, it is slightly out of topic. But I checked the Codefactory website, regarding that Addon, since I only have a version, that is already a few years old. They say, it would cost around 59,00 Euros. But I could download the Addon for free. And I didn't find anything on their Website, where I could buy a license. So, how does that work now? spoilers ahoy, I did mean! the barbarian king's crown when I said special secret item. if I play again I'll probably just grind sunrise peak until I have all the items, actually it was a bit irritating that I got essentially punished for being able to kill off the sunrise peak boss earlier than I should've done through spamming healing potions and using magic in the right place.Really its a shame the developer didn't let you run at least one boss dungeon so you don't get completely %100 stuck.

Hi Xoren,a .net error could be a number of things. what game is it that you are trying to play? and has it been tested in the sonus debug mode first, as the debug mode can pick up issues with games better than the PCP Player. The PCP player is intended for finished games.Both applications use .NET Framework version 4 or above, so if the GDE works the PCP player should as well.

@Quanin: The NVDA Remote relay server is lightweight enough that you could run it on any Linux server you have running, and when it is not being used it shouldn't take up many system resources at all. For a time I did have one running on a Raspberry Pi. Keep in mind that Androids/Chromebooks can also now remote into your NVDA thanks to the Narwha l NVDA Remote client.@ironcross32: Someone used Eloquence with Narrator before, so I know that other sapi voices should work with narrator. They *may* have to be 64bit though, that's the only potential problem if you have other sapi voices.Also, when using oneCore voices, the responsiveness setting can actually be adjusted. The lag is an artificial buffer, sort of like how VMware will attempt to meet in the middle with the streaming buffer time for the soundcard to try to accommodate most systems, however if you have a fast system you obviously want to make the buffer time as low as possible for the most responsiveness. These voices work the exact same way. IT probably won't affect Narrator as something tells me they're using the desktop variants of those voices and not the oneCore variants. The only difference between the two is the oneCore variants are fully synthesized, and don't have the prerecorded letters when you press keys.

@28 agreed on all points.I had started writing this earlier in this particular thread, but I decided not to. Since someone's already went there though, I think I will. This current climate of cautions, more warnings than you can shake a stick at, and so many bans before the thing becomes permanent, it's not doing anyone any favors. Just ask yourself the question, "Is what we're doing right now working", well, I don't think it is. If the mods don't want so much drama, crack down on the perpetrators. Start dropping the hammer on people, and stop being so tolerant to it. Deal with the people who need dealing with, like the ones who go around starting it. You can't blame the rest of us for getting our backs up at someone because they go around starting crap all the time, it gets old. Sure, there's a bit of tolerance, then trying to say in a polite way that it's not cool what they're doing, and they continue anyway. That's how I see the community failure clause working. Take these people who need it, turn them towards the door, give a little shove, and say don't let it hitcha where the good lord splitcha. The best communities I've seen online have the quickest acting, non-apologetic mods. They don't go around acting like the gestapo either. It's not like they're like, I don't like that your name is teal, ban hammer time. They wait for the person to break a rule and bam. On here I get that's not exactly practical. We should have a certain bit of understanding for the language barrier that a lot of our eastern european or middle east or whereever else you're from people are having. That's not, and should not be infinite though. If they were concerned, they would ask for a translation, they would try to google translate it and if that didn't make things clear enough, they'd ask someone who was multilingual to help out. Also, there is the aspect of well, do you think if I went on a Russian site and broke the rules, that they'd be like oh its cool bro no probls, I get you're not Russian, so here, I'll just let you off with a caution this time. Hell to the naw. I'm not saying that to justify banning people who truly don't understand - I think we  can be a bit better than that - but just to show I doubt very much the sentiment is strong in other places.If this place is going to ever get back to a spot where the mods can check in every few weeks or so, then this will have to happen, because what is going on right now isn't working.

We just can't win.Past a certain point, there are elements of a community which will find fault no matter what happens. If we try to be understanding without totally compromising the rules, we're being too soft. If we crack down and close topics and issue warnings when people are acting in bad faith trying to stir up drama, we're suddenly robbing you of free speech, interfering with your ability to express negative opinions and generally just not following our own rules.Or maybe the real issue is me. Maybe a few of you really can't get past the fact that I can hold my own in a discussion, can back myself up, and can be extremely decisive and fast-acting when the need calls for it. Perhaps this is intimidating or scary. Perhaps you are remembering early November, when I badly mishandled a crisis, and you can't get over it. The aim is accountability wherever possible, but that does not necessarily mean wasting hours backtracking and defending when said vocal minority becomes loud, demanding, entitled or just plain resistant. If you have strong points to make regarding our style of administration, that's well and good, and we'll hear them. We're listening (or at least, I am, and I strongly suspect that goes for the rest of the team as well). But before you open your mouth, put pen to paper or decide to bring forth criticism, remember that every question you ask and every point you raise has an impact, however small, on the community, and if your aim truly is to help the community (that good faith action I spoke of in a previous post), then you owe the community the benefit of a little reflection and consideration before posting. After doing so, you may still feel like you have something to say, and at that point, go for it. But greater good matters to everyone, not just the staff team. If you are, in fact, trying to be a positive part of this community, then there is such a thing as deciding which battles to fight and which not to. And I think, in all the fervour lately, some of you have forgotten this.

Hi Pitermach.That error message says it is looking for an object called flyviewpoint. which it cannot find. the tutorial asks you to make an object called fly and a seperate object called viewpoint, which is how we listen to the fly. this could be an issue with the project itself rather than the PCP. Have a look at the create action in the creation event on viewpoint an make sure you are jsut making an object called fly.dat.The reason you might not get any sound on the GDE is because the fly object is never being created. instead it is trying to make flyviewpoint which doesnt exist.let me know if this helps

I'm going to preface this with a word of caution. If you read what comes after this, and you think I'm targeting you, I'm really and truly not. There is no personal judgment involved here. I am not looking down my nose at anyone.And now that I've front-loaded this topic, here we go.As evidenced by the title, I want to talk about spelling. More specifically, I want to talk about bad spelling. I feel that throughout the blind community, it's really quite prevalent, much more than I would have expected it to be. And I'm at a loss as to why.And I don't mean stuff like "then" and "than", or the occasional typo. Lord knows we all do that sometimes. I'm not picking on typos. I'm talking about straight-up incorrect spelling. Things like "sense" becoming "sinse", "very" becoming "wery" (although this one may be a language thing), and half a hundred other things I'm not going to enumerate specifically because I really don't want someone feeling like I'm picking on them. I'm not. I see this a lot, from literally dozens of sources.My aim in posting this at all was not to throw mud on those of you who have spelling issues. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad. Rather, I'm wondering what creates the problem and, if we can figure that out, I'm wondering if we can fix it. I have two main theories, or perhaps they compliment each other:1. Screenreaders and dialectI think a lot of blind people aren't being taught to actually read braille regularly anymore. They're raised on screenreaders, which means most of their content is filtered aurally. So someone from the southern United States might hear people saying "sets" instead of "sits", might not actually read much, and may just write what they hear. Those of you who are perhaps a little younger, is your spelling being evaluated in school? Honest question, because I had spelling drilled into me as a child. I was also raised on braille till my late teens, so I got very used to seeing things and finding out how to spell them. Fun fact, though: you know the Beatles, one of the most influential British bands of all time? I went most of my life till the age of twenty or so calling them "The Beetles". Two e's, instead of b-e-a-t-l-e-s. Ditto Def Leppard. Ditto many other things. I am not immune.2. Spelling comes more easily if you can see, by defaultPerhaps one of the ideal prerequisites for good spelling is the ability to read with one's eyes. I know many blind individuals who spell very well, but perhaps they are the exception to the rule and fought against a natural barrier to get where they are (self included, as I consider myself a good speller). Perhaps it's in how the brain is wired, or in how information is gathered when a person looks at a thing vs. touching it or hearing it. Perhaps many of us struggle here because we're facing a slightly uphill battle from day one. I'm just not sure.I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Again - and yes, I keep saying this, but it bears repeating - I am absolutely not picking on anyone here. My own feeling is that if you have sight, you see text everywhere all the time, and so build up a massive mental archive of correctly spelled words. If you read a lot, this archive is greater still. When you see a word that is spelled wrong, and you have lots of correct examples stored in memory, an alarm goes off. If you only have a handful of examples of a particular word in memory, and you spell it wrong, you get a little niggly feeling something isn't right, enough to cause you to look it up, but if you have no examples no alarm goes off at all. I think blind people who don't read tons of braille, are at a disadvantage when it comes to spelling. Especially with the English language being filled with homophones and words that aren't spelled phonetically.

I'm glad you have it working pitermach. which also now indicates Xoren's issue is related to his system. Hopefully he will post some error messages so I can try and look further into it for him.

Agree with Flackers. When you just listen to texs on a screen, you're not learning how to make the judgment (y'know, I never know how to spell that), of whether something is spelled wrong. While speech is good when you have that framework, I believe it is best to not jump in solely with speech, and learn Braille first.

*sigh* There's always one. OR two. Or three. Always a few that can't just let it go. There was nothing destructive about what the Jayde did to close that topic. The result was not so much the topic itself, so much as it was Simter trying to force the community over to an upgrade just because of some idiots who use the fork command because apparently they have nothing better to do. Which affects probably 1% of the entire Skype population. And then you had people like me, who had legitimate questions to ask (take the skype 8 on the mac deal) which is a much more serious issue than a few bored-to-death kids playing dirty. Imagine the irritation when someone has a legitimate question to ask about skype 7, but 99% of the skype 7 topics are all either the forking cult, or the victims who could've shown less idiocy and not add ed those people they didn't know. Imagine the irritation when legitimate skype 7 question topics are likely to get skipped past because quite frankly, we're all fed up with the forking topics, and the general stigma surrounding skype 7, that I assure you there are some users who probably skip any topic mentioning Skype 7 because it's another case of jese, here we go again.See how the unproductive discussion can be futile, unnecessary, and simply unneeded? And when it's asinine juveniles who are repeat offender involved in creating such topic, you see where a mod can feel the urge to say enough is enough?Why are people even bickering over this anyway? No one was hurt through the closing of the topic, in fact just a grain of sanity was hoped to be restored, but wasn't.
