hiJust came to give an update on the situation.It seems like installing the latest version of nvda wasn't the problem. this lag drove me crazy to the point that I couldn't take it anymore, so I went to reaper settings directory, deleted everything but the file related to scanned VST directories, and reconfigured reaper again. Problem solved!I don't think nvda update had anything to do with it now, but those lags started yesterday, right after I installed the new NVDA.If only I knew what changed that caused all this.anyway, thanks for all the helpand @4 I'm using osara

The irony is that if Apple did release an official Apple II/II+/IIe/IIc/IIc+/IIgs emulator, it almost certainly wouldn't be accessible, and even if it was, it wouldn't bring back the old feelings to those of us who used the real hardware. The reason? They almost certainly wouldn't emulate the Echo speech synthesizer, a third-party add-on card. And the software they would provide would be those games and programs which would appeal to a sighted audience, and not us.Just to clarify for anyone who may be thinking that the ROMs we're talking about here have anything to do with the games and programs on the disks, they don't.When an Apple IIe first powers on, one of the first things it does is look for a Disk II Controller card, using a routine in the ROM. If it can't find one, it dumps us into Applesoft Basic, a Microsoft/Apple-authored version of the BASIC language. This BASIC is contained in ROM. If it does find a Disk II Controller card, it passes control to a routine on that expansion card's ROM. This routine turns on the motor of the first disk drive, moves the read/write head to track 0, then finds and reads usually one sector (track 0, sector 0) from the disk into RAM. Once that's done, the Disk II Controller code passes control to the location in RAM where track 0, sector 0 of the disk was just read. From there, the code on the disk takes over, and is responsible for loading the rest of the operating system. Sure, it uses ROM routines in the process, but it's now the code from the disk, and eventually the entire operating system loaded into RAM, that calls the shots.As another example, let's say I'm playing an Applesoft Basic version of Oregon Trail. The entire game was loaded from a disk, not ROM. The code in ROM doesn't know or care about wagons, oxen, food, clothing, supplies, or any of that. In fact, if the family in the game were interrupted by a group of space aliens who then ate the entire family for their dinner before flying back home to planet Squishsquish, the game would have most certainly ended for me, but nothing in ROM would care, until I was dropped back into Applesoft (which is in ROM) and given a chance to run another program.

@Dark, Sovs and Dark Eagle, I'm doing my best to keep it together if only because the children deserve that much.  Honestly, even in her state my wife helps so much.  Somehow she still finds it in herself to do all she does, from taking kids to appointments to taking care of our financial situation, to paperwork and all the phonecalls I don't like making.  When she's feeling super cheerful and active she'll even join me in whatever needs cleaning, but I do my absolute best never to hold her to it nor make her feel like she needs to do it.  It has meant more responsibility on my part, but I meant what I said when I said for better or for worse, in sickness and in health...I guess that's why games like Miriani are so good for us in a way, given how so many different things exist for us to do, from the stupid little minigames like skeball and assault exist, to riding around and looking for asteroids, to missioning with other people on occasion.  That she can even find it in herself to spend time with me is a miracle all on its own... I know she needs her rest, but she doggedly persists on doing her best to be with me at least once a day, every day, and she'll bring me to bed if she thinks it possible, meaning the kids are taken care of for awhile and nothing else needs doing.  Those moments are somewhat few and far between as there are four of them.  The oldest, thankfully, is already going to school, while the youngest is an 8 month old who has recently learned how to crawl and is starting to get into... well... just about everything she thinks isn't hers.  I wish the middle two would help pick up the slack and help watch the youngest since they can see when she's doing things she shouldn't be, but they're too busy playing with toys and trying to con me into giving them TV, iPads, snacks and candy all day long.  Sometimes I relent because I know this can't be any easier on them than it is on me, but I'm doing my best to hold firm and strong.  I know so many people who are parents and probably some who aren't would judge me for some of my decisions, but there ya are all the same.  If you 've read thus far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  It means a ton to know that someone's listening. if nothing else.

But when will the server go online?  However I would have 2 things to ask.  Would it be possible to have the weapons fire in the direction of movement?  For example, if I am going to the right I will shoot in that direction.  Currently, however, I can only shoot her in the direction my face is facing.  Then, I'd like some long-range weapons, to destroy all nearby enemies, and maybe some weapons to paralyze the opponent, for example to freeze him for a while, or some particular gas ...

OK, I have some suggestions, some of which have probably been mentioned before but hear goes.The first being ammo for weapons for a bit of realism.The second being a continual sound for the chainsaw, for example when you have it selected but aren't using it you just hear an idle engine sound, and when you use it, hold space and have a similar burst effect like the other weapons. After all, it is a chainsaw :dLastly, I've noticed that every time you hit the rage taker with a none-burst weapon like the hand grenades, they're all limited to the same speed.I think it'll be good if all none-burst weapons had their own rates of fire.

@Accman et al: You will be able to run the demonstration version of this skill just fine with the Windows 10 version of the Alexa app, but you will not be able to upgrade to the full version (assuming that the full version is unlocked via an in-skill purchase). The Windows 10 iteration of Amazon's assistant does not permit one to conduct any in-skill purchases for premium features. I found this out while playing games such as The Dark Citadel, The Vortex, Six Swords, and Escape The Room 2, all of which support premium features. So if you want to play the full release, you'll probably have to do it through your phone's Alexa app, assuming that platform's version allows in-skill purchases. Ammo sounds like a great idea and is one I've been considering for quite awhile. I was thinking about perhaps making ammo magazines spawn around the map for specific weapons. For example, machine gun ammo for the Machine Gun and Laser Machine Gun, and perhaps grenade ammo for the hand grenades and grenade launcher, gas ammo for the chainsaw, etc.

That doesn't sound at all like what the OP is proposing. It sounds like he's offering to share keys for both of the products. That is, he's wanting someone who has Q-Read to give him their key for that application, and he'll give them his registration info for AHC, and in that way, you'll both have access to both products without both of you having to each buy both applications. Assuming I interpreted the OP's intentions correctly, this goes against the TOS of AG.net, and I'm surprised the moderators haven't raised any flags on this issue yet... the post definitely implies dual sharing, not exclusive exchanging (and even in that case, it'd be based on an honor system and thus exploitable).Kai

February 12, 2020: Nepali gamer has a warning for encouraging piracy. He was proposing a trade whereby someone would share their QRead license and he would share his A Hero's Call license. Since neither transaction requires sacrifice of the product, this just amounts to two counts of spreading around license info when you're not supposed to.

Hi.This is silly, the page says as far as the author knows, the software is legal.Yes there's other things on that sight that might not be but surely that's for the person to figure out and if they download it it's not to do with the audiogames.net team?I think this sencering of information is sillly and actually harms blind people more than it helps.Some of us cannot update because we can't use these "real" sounding voices and eloquence is the best way for us to go forward but with you taking away our write to post links, you're stopping us from using the latest features of NVDA.Yes people can look it up but it's not easy to do and clicking a link is a lot simpler.I think this modiration thing is being taken way to far, nothing is going to happen if someone clicks on a link, at least it won't happen to the website. Yes, there is as of the latest updates of the web client. Open options, then channels and views, then channel global messages. Here, you can choose when those messages will be spoken. Activate the option speech, only when active and set it to never and they won't automatically be spoken. They will however be visible in the history if you ever want to check that.As for getting started. first you must register an account on https://qcsalon.netif you already have one, simply use any browser to open the website and click the play link, or connect  to the web client in the quick links section. It works as a web app, and is quite good for the amount of browsers it supports.

Hi.This will be my last thread on here.As much as i've liked posting on audiogames.net over the years, I feel the modiration is going way to far with it's deleting links thing.I put up a link to a website that, while it may not have legal content all the way through it, had a legal version of IBMS tts for eloquence, perhaps I should have posted the link straight to the page but I doubt that would have made a difference.Also when I posted about audio vault, that link was taken down.I'll say it again, you're taking this remove everything idea way to far.If anyone wants the link for IBMS eliquence, pm me or send me an email.I'll check every day for 5 days but after that, i'm gone.I can't delete my account, something I think is silly but no one will change that now, but I can scramble my password.For those that want my posts for some reason, I won't take them down and I hope you get something out of them.I will reply to this thread and the be careful about NVDA one but that will be it.I hope those of you that stay have fun, I really do, but I feel this is going to far and that I can no longer be a part of it.

At 14 it's actually worse than that.  Supposing you have a bag of chips and I have a bag of chips.  Both are different kinds.  You want to try some of mine and I want to try some of yours.  We share chips.  I conclude that I like your chips better than mine.  You tell me I can have them in exchange for the ones I originally bought.  I tell you that yours are actually more expensive than mine, then ask you if you're still sure.  You say yes, you are.  Eventually, those chips are gone and we're either gonna have to buy more or be satisfied with what we already had.  For the time being, however, you lost a bit in the way of value because I gave you a bag of chips that wasn't full to begin with and which cost less than the one you gave me.  This is perfectly acceptible since the products are consumables in a sense and you did me a favor out of the kindness of your heart.This topic is, in essence, what posts 15 and 16 have pointed out, which is an attempt to share two products, as in truth neither one of the two parties involved in such sharing would lose anything.  The one simply needs to let the other know where to download the product and the information under which said product is registered.  No physical property is changing hands, so the original buyer of either product is still able to use it, while also having the added benefit of sharing a new product with someone else.  It'd be like leaving your WiFi network without password or any other security measure so that anyone in the neighborhood who sits within range of it can use it instead of having to pay for their own internet and they in turn give you access to their netflix, hulu and disney plus content.

If you think of how a game selling platform works, you'll understand that the download of a game is usually provided only to who actually buys that game. If you buy on steam, then you can download the game. It can be a security problem if everyone could download a game.In contrast, Steam is also a client app, so the gamer has an account that tracks down all of his purchases. Sadly we don't have the same architecture.

OK, here’s why it’s going to far. The moderators said that they would take intent into account before removing links to questionable content. In this case, the website linked to had some questionable content, but it was a link to perfectly legal software. Thanks to the word sensor that replaces websites with stars now, intent doesn’t matter anymore because now nobody is allowed to link to the website regardless of what their intent is. I understand why the moderators put it in place; they don’t want people to be able to link to illegal content, and I totally understand that. However, there has to be a better way to go about it, because this clearly doesn’t work. There’s a way to ban people from linking to illegal software without banning a website entirely and limiting peoples access to things.

There's clearly something up going on with this. I was wondering what you guys thought.I think we all know that being blind doesn't protect you from delusional thinking. We all know some blind people who have some crazy weird beliefs - although this in of itself isn't schizophrenia. I was thinking there is probably an element regarding rate of diagnoses and how blindness interferes with schizophrenic presentation.Have any of you had any minor auditory hallucinations before? For example, thinking you hear something that you don't. I would imagine its less common in blind people just because how much blind people depend on it but I find it hard to believe that it never happens. It happens a lot for me, sometimes I feel like someone is calling my name because of abuse I dealt with as a kid. I think its possible for a similar mechanism to emerge in blind people. If this is the case this provides a clear way for schizophrenia to develop in blind people; but it may just not "present" like schizophrenia because blind people interact differently than sighted people with these issues.This is really serious in terms of implications because it is hard evidence that analyzing schizophrenia as an individualized condition is simply wrong and is a consequence of complex social factors.

OK, here’s why it’s going to far. The moderators said that they would take intent into account before removing links to questionable content. In this case, the website linked to had some questionable content, but it was a link to perfectly legal software. Thanks to the word sensor that replaces websites with stars now, intent doesn’t matter anymore because now nobody is allowed to link to the website regardless of what their intent is. I understand why the moderators put it in place; they don’t want people to be able to link to illegal content, and I totally understand that. However, there has to be a better way to go about it, because this clearly doesn’t work. There’s a way to ban people from linking to illegal software without banning a website entirely and limiting peoples access to things.Edit: Stirlock, that was highly unnecessary. Brad is an active contributor to the website, and he’s given us good content over the years of being here. This isn’t just some random kid on the forum saying they’re leaving, this is someone who is highly respected. As such, I think you should show a bit more respect. Like Nocturnus said, this isn’t a post that Brad normally makes. He’s usually pretty laid-back.

@4, I know. That's why you rotate your API keys regularly and restrict privileges to only allow what your using at the time the key is generated. That prevents people from doing much harm should they gain access to it.

that is an autocensor that censors that website regardless. While the cracked applications and games are still there, there is no way that filter will get removed. if someone chooses to host the IBM TTS addon somewhere else, so long as it is legal we will not impede your ability to download and use it.

Got it working in chrome (at least on my desktop), it looks like another one of google's security features in one of their recent updates. For the iOS thing, I need a way to see what errors are posted to the console when you click that button. Which is pretty tough on mobile devices. I think for iOS devices you would need to set up remote debugging on another device, but I'm not really an apple person so I don't know what all that entails, I'd have to google it. I do have a mac guy here I can ask, or maybe have him look at it and see if I can get an error that way.

To be fair to the mods and the URL filter, it makes quite a bit of sense if you think about it. Brad linked to the audio vault. He did so knowing full well that linking to that site is illegal, not just under forum rules but under copyright law. As for the copy of IBM TTS, are you absolutely sure that that copy was legal? Is there a license/disclaimer/whatever from the authors that explicitly indicates that distribution of it is legal?
