I managed to set a sound for an obstacle, but got no real sound nor obstacle, just the screen reader telling the name of the chosen sound. Yo folks. Connor, correct me if I'm wrong, but what everyone else doesn't seem to be understanding is that the topic isn't here to say if game X is a bloody pile of ** or not. The thing is that some devs are claiming a game to be a new game even if it's barely a prototype. Nothing against prototypes here, all games sort of need to be a prototype at some point, the only thing is that if your game is not ready to be fully played then you might consider putting it in the dev room instead until it has enough features to be considered a beta.Best regards, Haramir.

Well, I got a bit bored this afternun and decided to go search a bit around the itch.io - indie game hosting marketplace's website under the #html and #blind friendly tags and managed to uncover some little treasures, or pass time to say the least.The first title I found was the Blind Arena Tournament, an AudioGame First Person Shooter Multiplayer Online. A prototype for now. Not what I'd call impressive, but it is nice to know more people are daring to bring fort more accessible titles. An apparently accessible little game where you have to give fast and accurate voice commands to a little robot trying to keep a collapsing place in order. Using boards for rpgs

Hello folks. I'm not sure if my question belongs here, but since it talks about rpg, I think it will do for now. As the title suggests, I'm having a hard time as a GM for my games due to the lack of a board of sorts to organize stuff. I recently begun learning D&D 5 Edition, and the time has come for me to assemble my first adventures. I first considered using excell to do the board thing, but then I figured I know nothing about it.  Now my dilemma is, should I go and learn about it, or is there a better solution for handling maps, specially during combat? I'm currently playing over the internet. I have access to a Win 10 machine and an...average android phone if that's the case.  Although I confess I'd preffer if a Windows solution would be possible.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks! Personally, I'm not a big fan of sonars, but I know they can be extremely useful, specially in fast passed games like FPS. Hello folks. I'm not a developer, but yes, I'd like to make one, or work to help make one. My reasons are quite simple. Most audiogames are very simplistic in nature. I've played alot of mainstream titles so far. I miss playing some of them, and I'd like that other gamers could have a similar experience playing my favorite titles or genrys. I miss games that you have to work a way around and really think in order to surpass the difficulty. How would we customize a character?

Hello folks. Since it is just some brainstorming about game elements, I've decided to post it here, I'd like to ask to a moderator to move it if necessary. On to the subject then.As the title suggests, I'd like to get opinions on how could we customize a character for an audio perspective. I know we have lots of ways to do it regarding visuals, or even text descriptions. A problem we have with text though, is that some games are hugely fast passed, and we may not have time to stop and read it. Hello folks! Nocturnus, I do agree with the majority of the aspects you've outlined. However besides all the negative aspects of today's mainstream market and how it reflects on the audiogames scene, we should also take into consideration that gaming in general serves other purposes than just having fun. We have heavily artistic games based on spreading messages and feelings. Truely immersive movies or books with all sorts of plot twists, and a rich story to be told. Other games such as Cuphead are more geared towards the oldschool gamers who loved the 80's title and wanted to revive the experience, those are more based on giving people a challenge. We also have funny and casual games such as I am Bread, and heavily competitive ones that are played as ESports and may have a way for the players to make a living out of it. It may open both the audiogaming and mainstream markets for new possibilities, or crash them both due to developers and players alike not knowing what they want or under which scope a new game would be evalluated.To conclude, the gaming scene is so wide that everyone may step in, which is a good thing for developers, but it may end up making the players lost on what and where to look.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks! Ok then, let's bite 1: I like the freedom of having players contribute with the game world, be it by building their own house, clan, castle, etc, crafting items with custom descriptions, roleplaying, etc. In general I pretty much agree  to what has been said.2: I dislike fake promos. I know muds can be open to virtually anything, but if yours is not, don't tell me it is capable of holding all kinds of characters. I wont name the MUD in question, but I was once drawn to a game announcement telling that the only limit is my imagination. Ok then, went there and made a ranger of sorts. He agreed to protect the city, but wasn't going to live inside the walls. Said game didn't have means for a player to survive outside a city, no cooking, no woodcutting, no fishing, skinning, butchering...3: I'll second Dark here. A good futuristic or a well built medieval world would be awesome.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks. Well, one thing we have to keep in mind is that the dialogues are aimed towards the characters, not exactly the player. It is a medieal setting, so a blind person, noble or not doesn't represent much of a threat back in the time. I'm not sure if they don't have previous experiences regarding audiogames and accessibility in general, but they did an excelent work representing the relations between the characters abd tge setting as a whole.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks. Sidescrollers aren't necessarely down. We have a bunch of metroidvanias around. They can be tagged as simple games, and yet they can be much simpler than 3d titles, but with more simplistic mechanics you have to be creative to draw the player's atention and we even have the Perilous Heart demo around the comunity as a good example of a creative way of setting up a sidescroller.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks! Well, it is a fact that teens, in most cases are still looking for a social niche. And this is what tend to lead them to look for groups, so they can feel part of something. NRecently the most commom way to achieve that is through online gaming. It may not be all the reasons behind the fact, but I believe this may explain at least a bit. Hello folks! James, I don't see personally, how this could make you unpopular. Everything you considered here is a valid and all developers should weigh it before launching a brand new game.As for A Hero's Call itself. I agree, it is not a new concept, but it is, as far as I remember, the first successful attempt at making a story driven rpg like that for the blind and VI comunity. Also it is going to have graphics. So, when producing an accessible game, it is nice to search if the idea is already available for us to try. Hello folks! Well, I've located the dens without much of a problem. It took me  much exploration and spatial orientation, but I strongly recommend using headsets for the quests you have to find specific things or creatures that emits sounds while you move. Apparent broken quests on A Hero's Call?

Hello folks. I'll have to talk about some in game quests here to see if they are broken or not. So, if you don't want the game spoiled for you, do not go on if you don't made all the shopkeepers quests yet.I've collected goblin equipment for the blacksmith and wolf pelts for the general store owner but I can't find a way to give them said items.I also can not find a way to go on with the quest to break the ivy prison inside the massive tree. The quest tells me to go and find a propper tool to break the prison, when I got back to town, the blacksmith suggested me to go and look in the general store, although the onwer didn't tell me anything related to it, I found a big pair of gardening shears for sale. I naturaly bought them and went to the quest's site, but nothing happened.Best regards, Haramir.

Well, personally I can say, that some of us may fit well as a writer for game plots, and including myself, there are a few musicians scattered forum wide. As an aspiring voice actor, I can also tell that blind people would match voice acting for games, since in most cases, even sighted voice actors doesn't have access to any kind of visual material when it comes to giving voices to characters.Best regards, Haramir.

Well, yeah, I agree with most things so far, specially regarding the mouse and other peripherals, if you want to make a game, and a device would add more interaction and immersion to it, then go on. Unless it is something super ultra expensive with no other uses than the game. To be honest, I'm totally blind, and after playing games that makes use of a mouse, I started to use it sometimes to click on stuff  like links on webpages and files. Honestly, that's a matter of getting used to. At first, I also thought mouse is going to be a problem when playing Swamp, well, it wasn't. I even enjoy playing Daitona now a days. So, is it possible to make a game that amazes everyone? Well, judging by my experiences, no. Even on Swamp, we had a big difference in performance between those who play using the mouse, and those who doesn't. And Rastislav presented good reasons for us to want to use a mouse when playing the survival aspect of the game.Not trying to offend anyone, but its just that it can be a bit frustrating to the developer's end having to adapt the game when there's no real reason for that. Hello folks! Well, while I do agree Swamp was and still is an excelent game, I think it is time to give Aprone some free creative time. What I mean is, have you read the read me from Castaways 2? He clearly has plans for something even greater than Swamp, but we kept him busy with feature requests and bug fixes. Hey folks! Regarding artisans in coffeemud, the better the material you use, the more xp you get. So far the best thing for gaining xp as an artisan, at least judging by my experimentations so far, are armorsmithing and weaponsmithing.Best regards, Haramir.

Hello folks! Joseph, first, I'd like to say the game looks awesome. Now, to the subject. I may offer my voice to aid, I really don't mind what kind of character will it be. Thing is, my current equipment is a regular headset, so the quality may not be adequate. If you tell me it will go through the hands of your fantastic sound designer I'll send a sample just for you to know what can be done.
