As I understand it, if a legal agreement says that someone can't use assets in any shape or form, then they can't use them in any shape or form. Whether or not they're being used in a commercial project or a free project is irrelevant. It's possible that the copyright holder of some sound or another won't care and won't take action, but there's always a chance they will. That's the whole point I'm seeing here. Yeah, it sucks. It sucks especially when all someone wants to do is make something fun and thinks having those sounds in their project would be cool. Sometimes it's done with no harm intended. At the end of the day, it's about protecting the forum as Jayde's said many times.

Even if you meta tag it, that doesn't guarantee that the sound is original. For example, some of the sounds in the Miriani pack seem to be unaltered sounds from Hollywood Edge and such. Mostly the punches I believe. Others are snippets of larger samples.

Is there some trick to moving these boulders into their holes in the Ice Path? I do have some instructions someone gave me, but the bit about moving the boulders doesn't seem very clear. Basically I start with the only boulder I can find a path to, but the instructions don't seem to work or only work part way in that I can move it, but not to the right place. Either it's the wrong boulder and I'll have to somehow find the right one without pathfinder, or I'm doing something wrong. Everything I find just says move them into the holes, which doesn't help. Lol. It appears that you can also just fall through a hole and try to slide around without the boulders as a bridge, but meh.

That would be the y key that gives coordinates.With tiles, I mean each type has a number. 26 appears to be grass, 0 appears to be normal, etc. that seems to be the only way to find things like water and trees.

haha. The lightning sounds are some of my favorites. Still wonder what sort of machine makes those, since I read that a lot of electricity sounds Ben Burt used were from the props for the Frankenstein movie. If you managed to get those without any music, that's interesting. Every time Palpatine uses lightning there's always music or other sounds.As a side note... I wonder if Force lightning hurts to use. Having bolts of electricity coming out of your fingers sounds like it would be extremely painful.

I don't even think the VIP 1.1 soundpack is even being developed anymore. If you're going to use VIPMud, I'd recommend upgrading it to 2.0. If money is an issue, just use the demo. It'll work just fine and just disconnect you every two hours.

As for toxic people, abuse can and does happen. All it takes is for someone to speak out against someone doing something, and most of the player base will be after the person speaking out. If they can't harass them via space combat or stunning, they constantly drag the person through the mud over public channels. This also happens if someone is seen as being stupid or if they simply do something the popular kids don't like, which is usually something harmless to everyone. Often the result is that person rerolling or going out of local space just to get away from the abuse, and in some cases, they simply leave the game entirely. Even after that person's been out of sight and out of mind for a bit, the moment they're seen again, the abuse begins anew. So, be incredibly careful what you say and who you say it to, or you may find the game virtually unplayable. Also be careful about associating with the wrong people.The other side of that is if the elite people find that you're cool, you'll never have to worry about being attacked ever. You can then join in dragging the poor, unpopular person through the mud with no consequences whatsoever, even if you can't back up the trash you talk. It's honestly disgusting, and it's a large reason why my character does pretty much nothing these days. While every action against your character should be considered in-character, people take things to the extreme and make the game not fun for some people. That is unless you don't mind playing the galactic punching bag or like that sort of challenge.

Paying to prove that I'm not a cheater frustrates me because I have no intention of cheating. Ever. My actions should determine if I'm a cheater or not, not money. It bothers me for people to assume that I might be a cheater or spammer unless I pay up. Paying doesn't automatically mean someone won't ever cheat and get banned, especially if they're skilled enough to not get caught. If it was purely a pay-to-play game so Sam can make money for his own use or to keep the server going, then I'd understand. Making it pay-to-play just to attempt to keep cheaters out is what I don't agree with, especially since this is a game in which you can literally lose every single thing you have due to lag, super strong creatures that you have no hope in hell of escaping if things go bad enough, or one small mistake, forcing you to start over completely unless you can get back to your corpse before others take your stuff. It also seems that even if you manage to get back to your corpse, some of your items just disappear. Whether this is a feature or a bug, I'm not sure. But when you spend hours trying to get something to spawn  or gathering things, and then it just disappears when you die, that's silly. So, having to pay every year just to prove I'm still not a cheater... yeah, I'm not a fan. that's what I meant that it'd be almost as bad as pay-to-win.

Items rotting would be interesting if done right. Here are my thoughts on that.I honestly don't know how long a clay pot would last if it wasn't baked. Maybe pots could eventually crumble if not baked, and baking them would preserve them. More work if you want to keep tons of pots. I know this would frustrate people, myself included, but having to bake a pot to keep it makes sense if Sam's going for more realism.Raw food and corpses should definitely rot and have a chance to contaminate all your food as they do. In reality, there is absolutely no way in hell you'd want to carry around a bunch of dead animals and raw meat for an extended period of time. Cooked food could rot slower than raw, and it should be possible to preserve food so it doesn't rot. That way it's more work to keep food. Salt could be gathered from salt water + fire and used on raw meat or cooked food to preserve it. Maybe the fishing village could have coolers for keeping raw stuff fresh longer.I can't imagine someone using the same spit over and over again, so those should probably eventually get ruined and need to be thrown away. Skillets could eventually get rusty and need to be replaced, especially if they're not maintained. I'm not sure about how maintaining a skillet would work in STW, though.I say again, a big problem is people being able to buy a lot of items they could otherwise get through playing normally. Gifts also contribute to item inflation. I mean... 12 skillets in a gift? Really? So, that may need to get looked at as well.

@Socheat: The difference between a paid account and a free one is that a paid account has an unlimited inventory, can buy more things using STW points, and has a slightly higher gift limit per day when getting gifts from the fishing village. Paid accounts also won't be deleted when they have less than five characters in their names, but free accounts will. I think that's everything.Also, the following was going to be a part of a suggestion in response to the message of the day that I was going to send with /suggest, but for some silly reason, newbie accounts can't suggest, even if the account is paid. Sorry, but I'm not turning off my newbie flag just to suggest something. I already proved that I'm not a cheating spam character bent on ruining the game for everyone by having a paid account, so why this limitation?When I say pay-to-win, I'm talking about people being able to buy things such as survival packs, energy/health drugs, gifts, shelters, etc. It eliminates the need to gather and craft things for people who pay, and the people who can't or don't wish to pay have to grind a lot more to keep up with people who throw their money around. People who pay can kill more things, get energy faster, have more items, etc. Those who can't or don't pay have to compete with others to get some of these items that can be bought. I mean, someone can run through the buildings in the village and take everything that spawns, and then someone else can come along and risk dying trying to find things that aren't there because someone took them all. Meanwhile, someone else is happily buying things instead of, you know, playing the game to get them. I'm not as concerned about the death free cards, unlimited inventories, and teleporters.My suggestion for spam characters, though, is to require people to provide a valid email address if they don't want their account to be deleted and be able to buy more things with STW points, and the game can then send a code that they would have to paste in to verify that the email address is valid. There are disposable email addresses of course, but it should be easy enough to get a list of those and check against that list. This isn't a perfect solution and a free account could still have limitations, but making someone pay to prove that they're not a spammer is kind of silly in my opinion. Having email addresses on file could also facilitate retrieving lost passwords, which is impossible right now, unless you can contact Sam and passwords are in plaintext.

Seems pretty simple to me. If the game doesn't allow you to do something by design and you're finding ways around that, then you're cheating. Depending on what the developer of a game decides to do to handle cheating, your actions can end up having a negative impact on the game as a whole. So, just follow the rules. It hurts to see things in the changelog like, "hey cheaters, you just ruined it for you and everyone else." Granted, some of that is on Sam and how he decided to deal with the problem, but if people could just behave, nothing would have to be done.

I decided to revisit this game since I haven't played it in a few years.I see that not much has changed in terms of server lag. Whether this has to do with location, the server's internet connection, BGT, or some combination of those I don't know. There are periods where the game locks up and I'm unable to do anything but close the client. Sometimes lag happens in certain sections of a map as well, and leaving said section fixes it. Thankfully rain doesn't lag the whole game anymore, which is nice. It's just disappointing that so much lag and false speedhack detection still exists after all this time.The game still feels very pay-to-win, and if you dump enough money into it, you can be nearly invincible. This is supposed to be Survive The Wild, not Pay to Survive The Wild. Teleporters are pretty nice to have, but when you can buy a ton of gifts and never have to gather anything, or buy a ton of energy/health boosts and never have to rest, that feels almost as bad as cheating. Air necklaces also don't make much sense. SCUBA gear would make more sense. There's also this little thing about free accounts being limited in what they can purchase with STW points. Supposedly this is due to cheaters, but it still feels like a slap in the face for people who don't cheat and can't or don't wish to pay. I also see that the whole spam character thing is still there, which I still feel is a bit silly. You have to pay to use a name if it's less than five characters long, or the account gets deleted. I was really hoping this wasn't a thing anymore.While I appreciate the detail in some of the crafting changes, some items now require a lot of glue. Glue is extremely, extremely hard to come by unless you pay for survival packs and such, which bleeds over into pay-to-win. If there was a way to craft glue, this would be a bit better. That said, i'm not currently aware of a means to craft glue without some sort of modern equipment. I may do some research into that though.As others have pointed out, the temperature system is a bit much. However, you can craft paper fans to cool yourself off. I discovered this by accident when finding a paper fan in the camp site. I was also expecting being wet or in water to cool you down, but that bit of physics doesn't seem to be coded yet. The constant spam of you have to stop to cool off is also rather irritating, especially since speech from events instantly interrupts any other speech even when the screen reader interrupt option is disabled.Speaking of the camp site, the boomerangs, hammocks, and survival packs seem to have been taken out. You can get bags of string there now though, which is neat. However, this makes survival packs and hammocks even more difficult to get without paying, and to my knowledge boomerangs are now impossible to find. This is unless I'm mistaken and those things are just now much harder to find.I haven't yet been to the new version of the fishing village, but if it's easy to die there from mutated wolves, that's kind of not cool due to how much of a pain it is to get to the village in the first place. This is one way the whole pay-to-win thing creates an issue.I think that's everything. There are definitely things that could be improved, but it's nice to see that Sam is still keeping the project alive. It's still fun to play from time to time, and yes, I did pay so I could use Draq for my name. A bit silly as I said, but it is what it is.

I decided to revisit this game since I haven't played it in a few years.I see that not much has changed in terms of server lag. Whether this has to do with location, the server's internet connection, BGT, or some combination of those I don't know. There are periods where the game locks up and I'm unable to do anything but close the client. Sometimes lag happens in certain sections of a map as well, and leaving said section fixes it. Thankfully rain doesn't lag the whole game anymore, which is nice. It's just disappointing that so much lag and false speedhack detection still exists after all this time.The game still feels very pay-to-win, and if you dump enough money into it, you can be nearly invincible. This is supposed to be Survive The Wild, not Pay to Survive The Wild. Teleporters are pretty nice to have, but when you can buy a ton of gifts and never have to gather anything, or buy a ton of energy/health boosts and never have to rest, that feels almost as bad as cheating. Air necklaces also don't make much sense. SCUBA gear would make more sense. There's also this little thing about free accounts being limited in what they can purchase with STW points. Supposedly this is due to cheaters, but it still feels like a slap in the face for people who don't cheat and can't or don't wish to pay. I also see that the whole spam character thing is still there, which I still feel is a bit silly. You have to pay to use a name if it's less than five characters long, or the account gets deleted. I was really hoping this wasn't a thing anymore.While I appreciate the detail in some of the crafting changes, some items now require a lot of glue. Glue is extremely, extremely hard to come by unless you pay for survival packs and such, which bleeds over into pay to win. If there was a way to craft glue, this would be a bit better. That said, i'm not currently aware of a means to craft glue without some sort of modern equipment. I may do some research into that though.As others have pointed out, the temperature system is a bit much. However, you can craft paper fans to cool yourself off. I discovered this by accident when finding a paper fan in the camp site. I was also expecting being wet or in water to cool you down, but that bit of physics doesn't seem to be coded yet. The constant spam of you have to stop to cool off is also rather irritating, especially since speech from events instantly interrupts any other speech even when the screen reader interrupt option is disabled.Speaking of the camp site, the boomerangs, hammocks, and survival packs seem to have been taken out. You can get bags of string there now though, which is neat. However, this makes survival packs and hammocks even more difficult to get without paying, and to my knowledge boomerangs are now impossible to find. This is unless I'm mistaken and those things are just now much harder to find.I haven't yet been to the new version of the fishing village, but if it's easy to die there from mutated wolves, that's kind of not cool due to how much of a pain it is to get to the village in the first place. This is one way the whole pay-to-win thing creates an issue.I think that's everything. There are definitely things that could be improved, but it's nice to see that Sam is still keeping the project alive. It's still fun to play from time to time, and yes, I did pay so I could use Draq for my name. A bit silly as I said, but it is what it is.

Strange. What anti-virus are you using? Defender? NOD32 lets me download and extract it just fine, but then I have to unblock the program through properties in File Explorer before it lets me play it. I've never heard of that error that says the path to your desktop is invalid. I'd test that myself, but this is my only machine and I'd rather not wreck it. Lol. Either way, that's odd.

Two things.First, sometimes when opening the game, an error message pops up. Something about something being broken and it being fixed after eating oreos. Lol. Simply hitting OK will run the game as normal.Second, after downloading one or more objects from the site, flipping anything will cause you to level infinitely until you close the game. I have no idea how that even happens.Other than that, awesome update. I especially love the flip3 soundn for the new freezer object.

The extra deck is just where Fusion, synchro, and Xyz cards go. Pendulum monsters also go face up in the extra deck when destroyed instead of the graveyard.As for zones: M1 through 5 are your monster zones. S1 through 5 are your spell/trap zones. S6 is your field card zone. S7 and s8 are your pendulum zones where pendulum monsters go when you activate them instead of summoning them.

Sounds really shouldn't be too long as there isn't a pause between attack and destruction unless priority is given to a player before destruction actually occurs.As for the help files,  there is actually a help dueling file with a list of commands you can use while in a duel. It's been there for a few days now.

Well, since Starlord seems to have simply washed his hands of the soundpack he was working on, I'm thinking about polishing the last version I was able to get a bit and putting it up for people to get unless he objects to it. This would include putting the duel triggers in a class that gets enabled/disabled when a duel starts/ends, fixing it so that different sounds play when a monster VS spell/trap card is destroyed, and matching the volume of all the sounds so everything plays at the same volume. The structure of the pack wouldn't change so VIPMud 1 and 2 users could both use it, and all original documentation would be included. I actually wanted to do this before on my own copy of it, but his changes would have overwritten mine whenever it was updated so I held off on it. Now that he's decided not to work on it any longer, I can at least modify it for my use. Note that I won't be doing anything crazy like adding the music support he wanted to add. I'd l
 ike to keep it as original as possible. It just needs a few fixes.Again, this is all assuming Starlord is okay with it. If he asks for this not to be done I won't do it, or if he asks that it be taken down I will comply. Wy? Because this was originally his code and, while it's pretty silly to remove it and say screw everyone in a fit of rage that's similar to that of the Winged Dragon of Ra, he does have the right as the creator to ask people not to modify or distribute it. I'm grateful to him for starting the pack so I didn't have to, and I only wish to take over where he left off so other people can enjoy it.

Just a bit of a heads up.If you use an improved translation file, make sure you switch to the builtin translation before moving your save file over. Otherwise it seems to default to French.

Yeah. It's tricky and took many tries, but it's doable with a bit of focus. The sound is probably centered or near centered once I can hear it in that ear, so I have to be ready to jump as soon as I hear it.

A small suggestion for descent into the mine and similar minigames if there are any.I use a cochlear implant to hear, and that's in my left ear, and thus I can't hear the right side at all. This means that, unless I'm extremely lucky, there's no way I can pass this minigame.I'd like to suggest that instead of hearing the buzzer on the left or right side that a different sound or even tone is heard depending on where you have to turn. This would enable people who for one reason or another can't hear with both ears to get passed this one.Note that I'm not asking for modifications to other minigames that have multidirectional audio, because it's entirely possible to walk around to find sounds that may be on the side I can't hear out of. This mine minigame requires you to be able to hear on both sides.Thanks!

You have to write the decks by hand. Generate the card reference file and paste the ones you want into a text file. The deck's name is the name of the text file. All deck files go in the deck folder in the Crazy Party folder.

If people can't stay inside the buildings, they'll just stay near them. The problem will still be there.If this is a permanent thing, my suggestion in this case would be to have these areas lower health if the player has been in them for a certain amount of time, not immediately. That way it wouldn't punish

Okay. Please don't take this the wrong way, but this losing health in places that make absolutely no sense for you to be losing health is rather stupid. The desert I understand as that is probably a hostile place. The gift shop or gas station, that's kind of dumb. Health gets taken away in those areas a lot faster than you heal outside of them, and this in places like the gas station isn't very cool because of how long it takes for items to even spawn. I hear it's because people are just loitering in those areas, but come on now. I'm just trying to play the game, and I'm sick to death of being punished for other people being retarded. First paid accounts due to cheaters, and now this. I wasn't even aware those places had negative health regeneration until I checked my health and asked about it. I'll say it again. I hope boating is made a bit less of a keyboard mashing activity one day. Having to press t over and over and over and over and over isn't fun in the slightest. I like the shelter idea, but anyone can just attack your shelter and destroy it if they turn PVP on. If you want to stop them, you're then forced into PVP against someone who may or may not be unkillable. If they attack it while you're logged off, you're out of luck entirely.

Unless boating is changed so you don't have to keep mashing T over and over, the game is going to be Survive The carpel tunnel Syndrome if things are going to be further away. Lol. People also arent going to want to leave the village if it's going to be a huge pain to get there and then back. Quite honestly, the only people who are going to be "pissed off" are the ones who don't buy teleporters.As for making it more Survive The Wild and less modern, maybe add crafting recipes for clothing using furs and such. The Native Americans used to weave clothes out of cedar too. Maybe digging for water could also be a thing instead of always going to a stream or the ocean.

Hmm. alt+up/down arrow doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to. I don't know if this is due to using JAWS, but when I press it outside of the inventory, I take several steps in that direction. If I press it in the inventory, it scrolls the inventory rapidly instead of reordering things. Doing this also scrolls the menu when not logged in.

STW's item tracking system would help a lot.  sometimes you're trying to track one thing down, but then you get in range of something else that takes priority of what you were tracking in the list. Then you have to either get that item first or ignore it to get what you were going for in the first place.
