Whatever you do, don't get a Blue Yeti. Please. I recommend the Samson q2U. It's cheap, it's good, and it's both a USB and an XLR mic so you can upgrade to the XLR port down the line.

Re: who all read ready player two?

I enjoyed the hell out of it, especially with SAO being referenced (I'm a huge fan of SAO Abridged). Is it perfect? Of course not. And it's no high art either. I kind of rolled my eyes when I heard there was going to be a sequel, but I expected it to at least be a fun read if nothing else. And that it was, although it also didn't suck quite as much as I thought it would in terms of story, so there's that. 3.5 out of 5, I guess, if I had to give a (relatively objective) number rating, though I generally don't like those. Subjectively though, 5 out of 5 LOL.

Depends on how you're sorting them. But here's an extension that might help you. Haven't tried it myself though.Lifehacker wrote:Sprucemarks — Here we go. This extension can automatically sort the sites in your Bookmarks Bar, your “Other Bookmarks” folder, and your “Mobile Bookmarks” folder—as well as any subfolders—by name, the date you added the bookmarks, or their URLs. If you need a little more oomph than Recent Bookmarks, but don’t have duplicate bookmarks or other annoying issues to manage, this might be the extension for you.

@17, The new Microsoft Edge can solve both of your issues. History is presented in a nice accessible list, and Edge has a native reader mode. I've completely removed Chrome from all my devices and have been using Edge as my default browser for a few weeks now, and it's been great. Plus, sync actually works, unlike Brave which doesn't even have the sync option currently (even when it was there, it never worked for me).

Re: Opera bookmarks?

Don't use opera.Seriously though, there should be a bookmarks item in Opera's menu which you can get to by pressing alt. There may also be a bookmarks bar, which you can get to by pressing f6 a couple of times. If importing from Chrome normally doesn't work, you can import from an html file. So, export a bookmarks html from Chrome and import into Opera. You can Google the specifics. Also, don't use Opera.

Re: What are you guys using as PC protection these days?

Windows Defender for antivirus. You really don't need much more than that if you know what you're doing and don't deliberately visit fishy sites. Adguard for content blocking. I use the standalone Adguard app, not the browser extension, because it works in all browsers, and all other apps as well, so it's a system-wide content blocker. It's paid though, but I got it at a great discount. Before that I used uBlock Origin combined with several other extensions like Privacy Badger, and would still recommend it if you don't want to pay for Adguard.

Re: Let's Talk Browsers

Opera is based on Chromium, the same engine that powers Chrome, Brave etc, so it renders web content in the same way Chrome does. In my limited testing of it I haven't found it to be any faster than Chrome with NVDA, but ymmv. Either way I would not advise using Opera at all. Yes, it has a built-in VPN and an ad blocker, but that's just to lull you into a false sense of security. Opera is owned by some Chinese company, and they also have a partnership with Facebook where they put Messenger and such in Opera's sidebar.

Can we get a better version of Captain Marvel? The one currently on the Vault has bad noise gating applied for some reason, muting out parts of the dialogue. Especially noticeable in the quieter scenes.

Re: For the Android users: opinions wanted

I haven't had the chance to try out the S10 line, but from what I've heard, the in-display fingerprint sensor on the S10 and the S10+ can be a bit wonky. One workaround for that is to register one finger multiple times so that it has a higher chance of recognising it properly. The sensor on the S10E is the same technology as the older models, so it should work reasonably well.

Re: For the Android users: opinions wanted

I'd stay with Samsung, especially since you're already used to it. Also, the Pixel 3A is a mid-range device, whereas the S10 is of course a flagship and therefore has much better specs. The Pixel does run stock Android, so if you want more frequent and faster updates then that may be a reason to switch. It's not enough though in my opinion, and Voice Assistant is much better than Talkback, at least in my experience.

Go to the website, click on non root downloads, and download the latest version (14.10.53 as of this writing). Also download Micro G vanced from the same page if you want to be able to log in. Get the apk files to your phone somehow, either physically or through cloud services such as Dropbox, and then just open the apk files on your phone. If you've never installed from an apk file, you will probably have to enable installation from unknown sources. Unfortunately I can't tell you exactly how to do that because every phone is different, but a quick google should get you on the right track. Your phone may also prompt you to enable this when you try to install the apk for the first time.Hope that helps.

Re: it is not your fault if your firefox addons are disabled today

A hotfix is already rolling out. You need to check in Options, Privacy, enable studies. If studies are enabled, you should get one that fixes the issue for now, until a more permanent fix is released. You can disable studies after you get the fix. That said, holy crap Mozilla, how stupid can you be? If your entire addon infrastructure relies on a certificate, you should make damn sure said certificate does not expire. It's really interesting timing for me personally, as I've recently been on a sort of browser tour. Been using Chrome for two years, but decided to check out the alternatives. Used Firefox for a week, and by some strange coincidence, stopped using it just as this issue started occurring. I'm back to Chrome for now after testing a few alternatives.

Yeah, all this episode did for me, after the excellent A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is it made me wish for the last two books all over again. Are they really going to spend the last three episodes fighting Cersei? After they dispatched the White Walkers in just one? It makes no goddamn sense. But what can you expect? The show hasn't really been the same since season 5, which is not a coincidence, as that's the season they started really diverging from the source material. I was hopeful for the ending, especially after episode two was so amazing, but now I'm just afraid Benioff and Weiss  will screw it all up like they screwed this episode up. But hey, subverting expectations, right? Arya's such a badass, right? No. Fuck that. (Before someone starts, I actually don't mind that Arya was the one to kill the Night King, I just have a lot of problems with the execution, if you'll pardon the pun.) And that spinoff? Gods, please no. Yet another bloody prequel. I guess we'll see. Maybe they'll subvert our expectations again and actually make the ending good.Phew, I feel better now with all that out of my system.

Re: the game of thrones discussion topic

About dragon riding, they have something called a buck, which is like a mechanical contraption that stands in for the CGI dragon. Speaking of, (Season 8 spoilers beyond this point) Kit Harrington had a rather... unfortunate accident while filming season 8. Let's just say, he and Varys almost had something in common. Read more about it hereAnyway, for anyone who's actually caught up, what did you think of last night's episode? (It's already up on AudioVault audio described.) I thought it was awesome. Kind of a similar thing as 8x01, but way better. Brienne is a knight, Podrick can sing (how many other hidden talents does this guy have? A magic cock, sings like an angel, what's next?), Tormund is still the best ("That's why I'm so strong -- giant's milk"). So many great character moments these last two episodes. They're reminding us why we love all these characters to "prepare" us for the carnage that's about to follow. Speaking of, who do you think is going to die next week in the Battle of Winterfell? Or in general this season. My predictions: Tyrion, Varys, Davos, Melisandre, Grey Worm, Jaime, Theon, Beric Dondarion, possibly even another one of Dany's dragons. I could be wrong about a lot of these, obviously, but one thing's for certain. A lot of characters are going to die in the next episode. And I can't wait. These last four (!) episodes are going to be longer as well, approximately an hour and twenty minutes long, which is awesome. Can't believe it's all going to be over in just four weeks. At least we have the last two books to look forward to, sometime in the next hundred years.

The free one only blocks ads in browsers, but if you pay for premium (the price is very reasonable) you get blocking everywhere, as well as some other extra features. Re: Get me more excited about android than I already am.

Let's see. You can copy media directly from your computer to your phone, no mucking about with iTunes. On a similar note, you can browse your phone's file system with a file manager (Samsung has one preinstalled called My Files, which is pretty good). You can customise the device to a huge degree and replace pretty much every default app with something else. Much more variety in TTS voices. There are system-wide ad blockers, which does not exist on iOS. There is a mod for the YouTube app that lets you watch videos in the background and blocks ads, among other things. There's much more of course, but I hope at least some of that is exciting to you.

The free CAVI courses are an excellent starting point. They even provide an archive of free VSTs.

Re: Organizing Projects Accessibly in Reaper?

There are actually several tickboxes in the save as dialogue, but you have to get to them with NVDA's object navigation (not sure how that works with Jaws). The one you definitely want to tick to organise your projects is "Create subdirectory for project", which will save your projects into their own subdirectories. Also, in the project settings (alt + enter) in the media tab, set the first option to a relative path like "Media" or "Audio", which will save all your media files to their own subfolder within the project folder.

Re: Kontakt Accessibility scripts?

http://access4music.com/ has the script you're looking for. The script works with REAPER all the way up to the latest version of Kontakt, which is 6.0.3, except for the new libraries specifically written for Kontakt 6, as they have a different UI. Fortunately there are very few of those at present. The script costs $35, and it's worth every penny for the access you get.HTH.

Re: Retweet contest - Give away GoldGun season 1

First of all, I would just like to point out that the developers have chosen to give you a way to get the game for free. The rules of the giveaway are very clear and, in my opinion, very fair. And yet, of course, the first reply is someone complaining how the giveaway does not suit them. Honestly, though, I shouldn't expect any better from this community at this point. It's the developer's giveaway. Their game, their rules, like it or not. Can we, just for once, stop complaining about everything and maybe, just maybe, thank our developers, for developing games for us to enjoy, and for their generosity in this case.

Re: Kodi V17.1 help

I've been dealing with this same issue for the past few days, and resolved it yesterday. You should check your Kodi log file, specifically the last line. On my system, it said something about a file called addons27.db. I deleted that file, restarted Kodi, and it worked. Note that this is with the screenreader addon set to NVDA. I've not tested it with SAPI, so don't know if SAPI still makes it crash.HTH

Re: System Access to NVDA driver--Where is it?Where

I think I know what you're referring to. It's not really a driver per se, it's just a few dll files. You put them in the folder of the application that can speak through System Access, and these files will make it so that it talks through NVDA instead. Entombed would be an example of this, and I have actually used this trick and can confirm that it works. Is this what you're looking for?
