Re: Multi Linguists of the Forum...
Re: Multi Linguists of the Forum... Well I believe most if not all languages based on the Latin (most probably Cyrillic as well) alphabet have the concept of capitalization at the beginning of sentences or when it comes to proper nouns and the like. As for my mother tongue, Arabic, it has no such thing, although I for one still can't understand why the form of letters belonging to that very alphabet changes depending on the letter's location within the word, how our folks are accustomed to reading from right to left (which obviously is inapplicable for Braille) or even how they connect letters to one another, although I have no interest to understand any of these concepts since it doesn't look like I'll be using them in the future if at all. Re: arabick braille
Re: arabick braille One helping tip to get you started, assuming you know English 8-dots Braille, is that almost half the Arabic letters in Braille are written as they sound in English, so for example the letter ب which gives the sound (b) is written exactly like the letter B (dots 1 and 2) and so on and so forth, not to mention some English Braille contractions that are used to write similar sounding letters in Arabic. One side question though: What medium are you using to read/write Arabic Braille on (Paper Braille or a Braille display)? If you happen to have used a software called Pontes Braille Typewriter (which might be a good start to get you used to writing Arabic Braille), I've made a 6-dots unofficial yet primitive Braille table which you can browse even if you don't have the software installed; just forget about the number sign before each letter.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/915 … Arabic.txtI'd be happy to help you with any further inquiries.Edit: Just saw the post you made while I was writing mine. I advise you not to start reading the Quran until you're fully acquainted with Arabic Braille and diacritization (assuming you know how this latter works) as the Quran is full of diacritics beside the letters themselves. Re: there is enny tts voice maker for the blind? Tryhttp://lyrebird.aiJust create an account or login with your existing Google/Facebook one, start recording the sentences given to you, and then you will be allowed to make your TTS voice once your recording count reaches 30 (each recording containing a sentence), and the bigger your recording database the better the voice. Once you get your voice ready, you may write any text into the edit box and it will be read aloud by your digital avatar. Note this service is provided as freeware as of now, though you may need to pay for additional features such as a personalized SAPI version of your voice or a more natural, human-like version of it, but not all features are available since the website is still undergoing massive changes as it is still in beta I suppose. Re: Christianity or Islam
Re: Christianity or Islam Hello.@Dark totally agree with your post, +1!@pauliyobo Islam is split into mainly two big factions, that's true, but a true Muslim has just to follow what Allah has revealed unto His messenger as well as the words of that latter. But hey, are you serious? Are ISIS Muslims at the first place? They're only meant to do things destroying Islam's reputation, killing all those who oppose them along the way while Allah's words are too clear: "There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower."@jonikster I'm not here to dictate what to choose and what not because you're the only one responsible for your actions. I'm just trying to show my point of view.If you really want to get a clear idea about both religions, you could possibly listen to some debates done by scholars like the late Sheikh Ahmed Didat and Sheikh Thakir Naik who used to hold long discussions with preests and people from all religions to rationally compare them with Islam. As for the issue about being sons of God ant the like, there's a clear Quranic verse about that: "The Jews and Christians say: We are sons of Allah and His loved ones. Say: Why then doth He chastise you for your sins ? Nay, ye are but mortals of His creating. He forgiveth whom He will, and chastiseth whom He will. Allah's is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and unto Him is the journeying."Hope this helps! Re: Christianity or Islam Hello there.First, you may or may not know that I'm a muslim, I see Islam as "the" one and only religion of God "Allah" the Almighty, the one and only path to Him, but that's my own belief and I'm not into forcing anyone to believe in it. Re: soft braille keyboard for android is the best! Hello.Does this keyboard support multiple languages like the IPhone Braille screen? I used an app called Swift Braille a while ago back when my Android phone was running smoothly, but what I didn't like about it is that you have a musical notation for each key you press, and now the one and only thing that is stopping me from switching to an Android phone is the absence of an on-screen Braille keyboard which is as easy to use as the IPhone one, so could you point me to a recording of someone using this SoftBraille, and a final note: is it free? I use the same way seb2314 does, but that is only done in my machine that runs a version of Win 10 that was not upgraded from a 7 or an 8, while on my other PC which runs Win 10 upgraded from Win 7, it lost that functionality and you can't turn off your screen at all. Try installing an original, fresh and new version of Win 10 if you have upgraded from an earlier version of Windows, since I have used both and the upgraded version does not have that feature and is, in addition, much slower then the other one. Re: The Access Stick - Get Accessible On The Fly, Everywhere On Every PC
Re: The Access Stick - Get Accessible On The Fly, Everywhere On Every PC it does not contain anything new as far as I've seen. For the windows magnifier there's a command that enables it directly from Windows. As for the calculator, most people are, as far as I think, used to the builtin calculator which is completely accessible for me on Win 10. With that apart, I don't see any differences when using that tool rather than having a portable copy of NVDA, and even ESpeak was set to Danish in the attached version for an unknown reason. Re: Lyrebird, Create your own text to speech voice with as little as a min
Re: Lyrebird, Create your own text to speech voice with as little as a min They might, but let them first work on more variations of English because the website always keeps "americanizing" my accent though I recorded with a British one, but hopefully this started not to be the case anymore as I'm recording more and more sentences (60 sentences until now) and the digital voice even sounds much more similar to my real one. Something I even was impressed about is that it captures my speech rate and tries to simulate it completely, hell even my punctuation! I sometimes do not stop completely on commas, and in the first 30 sentences it might have not detected that while now it acts really like I do. The other day I found that one recorded himself singing the needed sentences then made a TTS voice of that and it sounded so funny how the software was dealing with that. Someone may also consider recording an already made TTS voice and seeing how it will resynthesize it, don't know if I will be doing that but I'm currently working on imp roving my own. Re: Lyrebird, Create your own text to speech voice with as little as a min Hey all!So yesterday I've decided to make my digital voice, too. I've read the first 30 sentences so far, and the result was so shocking for me, I couldn't imagine someone will be able to imitate my voice with all of its intonations, though it sounded a bit younger than what I normally sound. And while I recorded the whole with a British accent, the system keeps searching for American English sounds and tries to put them instead whenever it finds them, that's what happens with the word water, it keeps putting an "R" at the end that lets me sound like I'm speaking Indian English, though I recorded the same word twice or thrice with a British accent in the script. Re: Blind Extra isn't a hacking add-on! Well he did last Sunday, but he changed his mind and deleted his post several hours later. I advice not to use the add-on to be on the safer side, because in all cases these are cracked TTS voices and programs which should not go into this forum. Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda
Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda *Note*! a bit of the post might seem confusing because I'm getting sleepy and unable to well concentrate , but let's get into it!I agree for what concerns the controversy of this issue, but it seems this version is not sold anymore so there's nothing wrong with sharing it. Note that a similar eloquence version was distributed as different SAPI 4 voices, the via voice ones, and I don't know if this particular version was released as freeware back when it was released, but it's discontinued unless proven otherwise by the original developers, or unless Nuance and/or Code Factory tell us which version(s) they bought and have the right to sell/own. This reminds me when that UP game thingy was still there, Mason released it at some point as abandonware along with the server creator. But like 6 months later he continued it then decided to make it paid. To talk right, distributing the abandonware version which didn't even have 1/4 of the later implemented features wasn't a software piracy, and that's what I did when I distributed a dropbox link for the abandoned version, which was if I remember right v0.22.54 (back in 2014) and Mason flagged me for copyright infringement, which led to my DB links being disabled till the time I'm writing this post in. But let's forget about that and return to our topic: both issues are apparently similar, and both shouldn't be considered software piracy, I think.@Griff if you want to try Eloq3.3 for NVDA you can do it by downloading the add-on from this link:http://grossgang.com/tts/synthesizers%2 … nvda-addonIt's better not to be using Eloquence as your default synth when installing it.Hope that helps! Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda
Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda Well it has some spelling differences, don't know why the American 4.7 one sounds a bit British when pronouncing the R, but other than that, it doesn't crash whenever a crash word is used on it, and plus it will no longer be able of making its legendarhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhry urhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrrhrhrh, but that won't affect you unless you wanna hear them on purpose Finally, it had less languages, at that time they haven't implemented the Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese and Finish. You will be able, however, to change the voice's roughness and head size in the 4.7 version. The English version is similar to the actual one, but some languages have changed a bit. It's an intermediate between the old 3.3 eloquence and the actual one, though more similar to the latter. Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda
Re: eloquence 4.7 for nvda Oh hello there. The add-on is great, I really missed the voices I used with jaws 3.5 back in 2002. I even think this is one of the IBM via voice versions which you posted a while ago as SAPI4. Keep it up! The add-on rocks!I even noticed you can change the head size and roughness, and that has been never implemented in a previous NVDA add-on I think. Re: keynote gold festival sapi5 voice
Re: keynote gold festival sapi5 voice Because Sapi voices are generally 32-bit even if you use 64-bit machines. And about the Keynote voice, its quality is fare enough, it's not bad at all and partially simulates the old Keynote Gold. I ran across a strange bug when browsing through my PC while using the voice: whenever it reads the _expression_: "compressed not selected", it crashes and NVDA restarts itself, just like the Eloquence crash words some spammers use from time to time, so I hope that can be fixed at some point. And I know it isn't the final product, so my only word is: Keep, it, up!Regards! Re: turning off laptop screen?
Re: turning off laptop screen? Hello. To turn off the screen in a Windows working machine, either laptop or desktop, press windows+p and choose projector only. The computer will tell you that no projector was found, press on keep changes. And since there's no projector, enjoy having your screen completely off. This will let you save at least 1 or 2 battery working hours and even more,, because a large part of the battery usage comes from using the screen.Hope this works for you! Re: How to setup virtual audio cable properly? If you're using NVDA, press ctrl+NVDA+s and press tab once then press s: that's the first letter of the word "Speaker" which is most likely the name of your playback device. Then press enter. I might record an explanation for the cable if anyone is interested and if I get some time. Re: new version of vocalizer voices
Re: new version of vocalizer voices Susan is among the voices I have for Expressive, but she isn't officially released. Some people took the voice somehow and did the add-on. But I think if I wasn't mistaken, that Code Factory included it in their Eloquence&Vocalizer add-on. And yeah, whenever a new driver will be present, newer then Expressive, then the voices' dictionaries and quality might have been improved for a bit, especially the dictionary URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=256227#p256227 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
