Re: VPN's
Re: VPN's @Green Gables Fan,A VPN (virtual private network) is just a network you connect to for sake of privacy. You cannot be tracked by your ISP or any agency in terms of where on the net you go, or anything related to your behavior online.A VPS (virtual private server) is just a remote server you can operate to do things you can't otherwise do on your home computer, usually for hardware limitations and stable broadband reasons. Linux is unrestrictive and offers many updates, while Windows Server is (from what I understand) full of security holes and not nearly as popular. That's just from what I know. There are plenty of other reasons. I host a VPS to do basic things like host an Apache2 web server and a TeamTalk server.HTHLuke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=316632#p316632 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Comic Books
Re: Comic Books @CAE_Jones,I imagine I'd need some level of sighted intervention. I don't think plopping in a digital rendering of a comic book would do me any justice aside from seeing what the outcome would be. Hell, I haven't the first clue of how to even get a high-res pic of the comic book. And I can't get just any sighted person, I'd need somebody who knows how Duxbury works and how tactile tech works in terms of the software. My embosser supports producing graphics. How well is of another question. I have the Trident from Enabling Technologies, which is now considered legacy hardware. Had my AT specialist and I knew of the future of this product, we'd have explored better, less noisy options... Oh well. Eventually this will be sold as I haven't used this any more than just testing it.I wonder how much demand there would actually be for something like this among the blind. Surely it sounds neat, but comics are not for everyone, and I forget sometimes that I'm a geek.Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=314254#p314254 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Comic Books
Comic Books Hello all,I never thought I would get into Marvel or DC related things, but that all changed when I discovered Netflix's unveiling of Marvel's Luke Cage. I then watched Jessica Jones, followed by Iron Fist.I'm discovering another facet of my, well, inner geek, and I picked up a Luke Cage comic book. Nothing fancy, just a $4 comic book at a local thrift shop-like place.I guess the point of this post is to see if anyone else is fascinated with Marvel or DC, and if anyone actually collects comic books. Surely I'll get many bites concerning Marvel and DC, but comic books might be a different tale.I picked this up for a few reasons. First, I was going to just have someone sighted go through the book with me to describe what is happening (just to get a feel for what comics are like), and secondly, to see if I can take high-res pics of the book, import into Duxbury, and emboss a graphic of each page. I'm s ure this has been done, and maybe this will be a waste of time, but I just thought it would be a neat little project.Any thoughts?I await the day Marvel's Defenders comes out (August 18th)!Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=314121#p314121 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: VPN's
Re: VPN's I've gotten 99% of people say PIA is the best, so I'm going to go for that. I was considering using OpenVPN on my Linux server, but I simply don't have the bandwith to make it useable.I tried going onto PIA's site to sign up, but I can't seem to make it work. All the sign up links show up as just text and I can't seem to find a way around it. Re: switch from esys 40 to vario ultra experiences?
Re: switch from esys 40 to vario ultra experiences? The display buttons are quite different from thumbkey navigation. It took some getting used to when I switched from a Braillenote Apex from humanware.I've discovered, at least for myself, that navigating to the next line at the end of the current line when reading is done easily when you quickly move your right index or middle finger to the display button row and press whatever button depending on where you want to navigate next. You'll eventually build a reflex to perform this task without having to consciously think about what you're doing.I liked the thumbkey navigation, but, like anything else, it takes getting used to doing something different.Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=312430#p312430 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: windows10 PE is here
Re: windows10 PE is here That'll make bootcamping a whole lot easier. I didn't give myself enough partition space and need to appropriate that, so that'll be the first project where I attempt narrator during installation.Fortunately this desktop's BIOS takes the disk drive as top priority, so booting from the ISO should be easy.Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=311928#p311928 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Changing the time zone in Ubuntu using the CLI
Changing the time zone in Ubuntu using the CLI Hi folks,I've tried two commands to change to my current time zone, adjusting the local time on my VPS. I want to change to the time zone most closely related to America/New York, and upon returning the command timedatectl list-timezones, it is an option, but I'm not sure how to switch to it.sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdataThis presents a menu where I select EST5EDT. It yields a change in the time being an hour behind me.sudo timedatectl set-timezone EDTThis yields the same result.Any help to figure this out would be greatly appreciated.Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=309804#p309804 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
