Hello,Yep, even though I didnt really read the steam guide I got help from some guys on here and I can use it just fine. @Seal, I seriously dont know how the friendship system works, but I guess you can add me and I can check the friends tab, or something. Even though VMWare Fusion is being a little bitch and not letting me re-map my capslock with sharpkeys. Ill find a way.Honestly, even though I know Im on easy level and stuff, I seem to be doing good with just big band. Trust me, its really useful to do the tutorials for each characters specials and blockbusters. After taking the one for big band I was able to survive for much longer. I know its really stupid but my record is one full fight against a three team and one more character on the second fight. I guess Im gonna have to train up a bit. If the AI gets Big Band too, though, Im screwed.Im still enjoying the game a freaking lot. Im looking f
orward to going multiplayer sometime, even though I know Ill get owned!P.D.: Has anyone noticed one of BigBands attacks doesnt have a sound at all?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=170312#p170312

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

Hello there,After being listenning to robjoy, pitermach and aaron stream themselves playing for about a week, I just couldnt take it anymore and decided to try to get the game. As always with me, the problems arised at the end of the procedure. My parents bought it, I got steam, and I got everything up and running to start the game. So I did. And guess what? Boom. A little error sound played and the game window closed. I guess thats what I get for having a shitty netbook, but yeah, anyway... I decided my only option was to go for something else: A virtual machine on my mac, since bootcamp also almost screwed up my mac bootup disc. And well, tada, it worked! Let me just say that this is quite possibly one of the best, if not the very best of all the games Ive played in my whole damn life. Im almost all the way through the tutorials, and Im already enjoying it. Ive tried other fighting audiogames and very few of them are even close to this o
ne. True this ones got some crazy commands for teamwork and stuff, but I guess itll take practice. I cant remember half of the techs I can use and I had to skip through some of the lessons because I couldnt get past a speciffic part, but I think Im doing quite alright.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=170069#p170069

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

Oh, also, I find the skullgirls wiki to be a valuable source of information. For example, it helped me figure out what the different acronims mean in the game, heres a brief list and explanation of each one:QCF/QCB: Quartercircle forward or backward. Say youre facing right, youd have to do down and right for forward, and down and left for backward.Attack commands (L/M/H/A+P/K): Light/medium/hard/any kick/punch. For example, LP=light punch, HK=hard kick, AP=any punch button.DP: Dragon punch motion. if forward and facing right, right and down.Hope it helps. Im honestly surprised Im getting along with mainstream games so easily, considering Ive played very very few of these. Some on the wii, mortal kombat for about 5 minutes, and Quake and UT2K4, thats basically it.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=170072#p170072

Hi,The tutorials are really awesome, but nothing and I really mean nothing beats going into training mode and just messing around with some characters. As it stands, for a while I went with cerrebella, peacock and ms fortune, then whn Big Band came along I used the beta version of the game (which you should have access to if you purchased the game), my team consisted of cerrebella, peacock, big band. Then itbecame cerrebella, ms fortune and big band. It hen tried cerrebella, valentine, big band, and alternated btween ms fortune and valentine. Then I noticed that Cerrebella wasnt really helping me, and now Robjoy should know, I switched to Valentine, ms fortune and big band, and the fights have become rediculously close.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=170096#p170096

Ok, first of all, I need to say that I am an absolute newbie when it comes to mainstream games. The last time I touched a gamepad was on a Nintendo back in the 90s sometime. So, that being said, go easy on me!Here is where I am. Ive got steam installed and working. Ive got Skullgirls working and speaking (very cool!) I just received a shiny new xbox 360 controller yesterday. It is set up and working.so, my questions are:1. How do I know which button on the controller does what action? I looked at the command list, but dont know how it is labeling the buttons on this controller.2. It doesnt seem like there are enough buttons on the controller to assign all the actions. Am I wrong? Does anyone have a preferred button layout for the xbox controller and this game?3. This was touched on earlier in this thread, but how do I know what all the abreviations for the c
ombos mean?Once I get this sorted out, Id like to branch out to other games like street fighter or MK.Any help would be appreciated.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=167393#p167393

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

Hi,It definitely helps to be familiar with your controler. So, heres an xbox controler layout:You have to hold the controller so that the grips you can feel are in both hands, so that the directional buttons are on the left, and the face buttons, which are sort of roundish and plasticy, are on the right. From there:The directional pad is on the elft and is used for menus and such. Below the directional pad is an analog stick, which basically does the same thing. On the right is another analog stick, used for doing tag assists by pulling up or down on it. In first person shooter games, this would typically be the stick used to aim a weapon. The face buttons are most of your attack buttons, arranged in a shape of four:At the bottom, youve got the A button. Moving to the left of that, youve got the x button. At the top, is the Y button, and the B button is on the right. You would have also noticed some buttons and trigger
style things on the side and underneath the controller. These are what we call rb, which stands for right bumper, and rt, which stands for right trigger. Same with the left side.Im not entirely sure where the start and select buttons are on this controller though, as I dont actually use an xbox controller. With that, here is the default button layout:X, Y, and rb are your punches. You have light punch, medium punch, and heavy punch, respectively.A, B, and rt are your kicks.I usually play with my right thumb on the face buttons, and my index finger using the bumper and triggers.I use a mixture of d-pad and analog for movement, depending on what takes my fancy. You may have to be quite patient when learning character moves, as the motions, such as qcf, and dp,a rent described in game.Annoyingly, they are also really quite hard to describe in writing! I can only say that its one fluid motion, but dont really kno
 w how to describe them.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=167413#p167413

Hi,Unfortunately lag is the only problem in most online fighting games. In SG it is actually handled quite well, if you can find someone under or close to 100 ping, the game should work on 0 ggpo. You should generally raise it for each additional 100 ms. The best is always 0 ggpo of course! The closer you can set the delay to their ping value, the better, since the audio wont use delay. It is not easy, but with a bit of experience it is doable. If youd like to play some, feel free to add me (robjoy88).RobURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166946#p166946

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

This is shocking, but audio gaming scene is forcing everyone to use keyboard only even with preconfigured keys without chance to change. This is what i love about video games, you can use keyboard, gamepad, you can reconfig everything what you want. Today there are people who didnt played games with controllers or even didnt saw the controllers. What I can learn from that is, audio games is the best way to close door for everyone to feel good / confortable when trying video games.Brat, gamepad is the best experience when playing SG and every game, or, every video game. You have everything under you fingers. No searching buttons on the keyboard or something like that. This terminology is typical for the fightng games where its the best to use on arcade sticks / gamepads. This is why keyboard is so hard to play with doing more complicated / advanced thngs like combos, juggles etc. Ofcourse, its not inpossible, but a lot more harder. If you have m

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

Im guessing youve never played Street Fighter or any other traditional MK game that is not Mortal Kombat. QC means quarter circle, and assuming you were using a traditional arcade stick, it would mean rotating the stick from down to down and back, then back. so it looks like four different motions when its really only one. and ak is actually A and K, not A and C. A-K means any kick button, and a-p which nvda will pronounce as ap is any punch button.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166733#p166733

Hi,@assault: actually, you can play online in the beta. You have to ask your friends to join your game though, you cant join anyone else in the public lobbies. This is how me, erion aka robjoy, and pitermach have been testing out big band for a while now, and weve seen everything from him having only a few voice clips to midi music for his stage, to many voice clips and real saxophones. We played online yesterday, in fact, for a good hour or so, using the endless beta. Its actually rather stable to be honest, but there have also been a few funny little bugs. One of them had a match start and then announce a winner without even a hit being registered, but that only ever happened once in the beta.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166573#p166573

Assaultfreak, the difference between the beta and the normal game is that the beta has a new character and a new map. You can not play online on the beta, and any achievements or badges you collect with it dont save over to the main copy. The normal one doesnt hat that new character or stage, but you can play online, and all your achievements andn such are saved.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166509#p166509

Hi all,So I dont know if anyone plays the skullgirls beta version that you get access to, but the beta had access to Big Band for a while now.Well, I just got wind of a new beta update that pretty much rounds this character out, and let me just say he is going to rock. Yes, I did just say that, this character is the first male character for Skullgirls.Hes got a new stage, and that stage actualy had two different music versions: one for when he was first introduced to the beta, and the most recent update seems to be the final stage version, and it shows. Theyve got a real saxaphone.Big Band himself has some very nice audio design, and the name isnt there for no reason. Think about what big band is in real life, and then imagine what a character with those traits might sound like, and youve basically got it. Every attack has an instrument of some kind, which makes for some rather fun blockbuster moves.Playstyle wise, he
9;s got quite a lot of range, but moves slow. He can double jump, and when you dash, you can hold the direction to continuously move across the screen, but its still quite slow. He has moves for both ground and air situations.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166361#p166361

depends on your patience level. Definitely go through Tutorial Mode.Something to be pointed out about those having trouble with Marie, her page on the Skullgirls wiki gives great descriptions of her various attacks and her three stages. This wiki is good to use for reading up on the other characters as well; however, do not read the story sections if you want to remain spoiler free.Story Mode is definitely worth it. I saved Squigly for last. For my play style, Painwheel and Squigly were the hardest to adjust to when fighting Marie.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165576#p165576

Hi,Agreed, you have to do this fast, faster than in a game like mortal kombat. Its meant to be done as one fluid motion, so with a keyboard this is kind of difficult, but not impossible. The only thing which would probably be impossible is the 360 degree motion for one of cerebellas special attacks.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165031#p165031

Well, I decided that today should be the day when I join the mainstream games community also.I installed Skullgirls without a hitch. Thanks pitermach, and everyone else who made this happen. I did not mind spending the $15, in fact I think that this is going to one of the best causes and the dev deserves my money 100%, especially since he worked to make this accessible. To those who were complaining earlier about Steam not being a mainstream client thats accessible, I actually found it relatively simple to get it up! Im using bootcamp on a 2011 Mac Mini (macmini 5,1) and also an Ultrabook from Lenovo (idea-pad Yoga 11s). I think both can handle the game fine. Again, using the mouse cursor was so easy...I didnt even have to use the OCR plug-in to scan the window, so not sure whats that about. I just used object nav and flat review to navigate through my choices and left click them with number pad minus after performing the root mouse t
o object nav command. Again, no issues!A few observations about the game though.1. Why dont NVDA modifiers work when its running? Im noticing that the moment the game starts, everything, including N-utils, NVDA, windows key all just.. poof out. I read about 100 posts here, so maybe my questions were answered already...2. Cant seem to be able to hit enter on the options to get a response? This I find strange. URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=164912#p164912

Hi,If you are using the keyboard, the game will accept db+ak. Forget about the d+db+b, etc.If you are using the controller, however, you need the db. It is the easiest to do via the analog stick: pull down, diagonally left or right, then either left or right. The d-pad should work similarly to the keyboard.Hth,RobURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=164787#p164787

Re: SKULLGIRLS - fully accessible mainstream fighting game [PC]

If you havent set up your profile yet youll want to do that first before you start using the friends stuff otherwise itll keep bugging you about it and its annoying, anyway. First go tosteampowered.com/then sign in, you may have to do the steem guard stuff again depending if youve set it to remember the computer that youre using. after youve logged in, take a few minutes to set up your profile. After doing this, youll click on your name and itll pull up your profile. and friends. If youre using NVDA you can press g, and itll navigate you around by graphics, youll want to find the one taht says add, arrow down a couple times untill you find an edit box, and enter forms field and enter the players account ID, so mine is sneakyer, so tahts what youll type in there. then navigate down the page untill you find the add friend link click on that, and then repeat the pro
cess to add more friends. To accept friends, I find it a ot easier to use the client, just find the view friends button in the client, then navigate to view friends, and itll show you your friend request just navigate to the accept buttons and accept away.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=164682#p164682

thats thwat this thread is all about! Those inventory items are most likely badges and trading cards. Skullgirls participates in steem trading, and therefore provide you with trading cards as you play. They are just for collecting. You can also unlock achievements in the game as well, they show up under the achievements link. But yeah, the cards dont actually do anything, theyre just there to look pretty I guess and for you to trade with others. Hi,Im a gamepad user, and the way I do this is to go down, then sort of do a diagonal sweep forward. Its not like mk where you tap down then forward, you have to sort of start by going down, then move to a diagonal position then move the way you ahve to go.
