As for the speakers, frankly, I don't expect any phone's speakers to be good. Any sound which comes from a handheld device isn't going to be very good. I can, of course, understand Voiceover and Siri just fine, but for anything else like podcasts and music, I connect my bluetooth earbuds. Then I don't have to be disappointed in the poor sound quality, or struggle to hear details of whatever it is that I'm listening to. In my opinion, even the latest and greatest phone isn't going to have good enough sound quality that I'd ditch headphones in favor of it. While I haven't looked, I'm pretty sure £300 would get me an entire stereo system, not to mention my first gen SE has shitty as hell speakers, and I was fine with those as well. Better speakers mean more enhancements typically, which i'd want to disable if I could to begin with. That, and the fact that I don't want face ID. The battery might be worth it, but I'd have to have 3 4 battery replacements in this to justify the price, and I'd rather just upgrade again to get 5g later down the road. My battery life isn't the best, to the point where I think my first SE gave similar, or slightly better when brand new. Speakers have shitty enhancements that I can't disable. I still miss the size of my old phone, that being the 4 inch. Sometimes you can't input numbers on the keypad when on calls, (old phone never had the issue and I restored the same backup) other than that, I have no complaints. Having said all that, I don't regret buying it. No iPhone is worth another £300, plus the A13 chip which is over the XR for less money.
