Hey all, it's BillBooser. So I would just like to report that we have a bit of an issue going on in RS. I believe someone is spamming the server or something causeing a few peoples systems to completely freeze with no responce from NVDA or the keyboard. When this happends we are forced to completely restart our systems. I believe a char named Moron is doing it but can't say for sure. But I know 3 people have had it happen to them including me. It just started happening tonight

I figured out what the problem was.Apparently, Redspot gives me a speedhack detection error when I'm connected to my mobile hotspot. When I'm connected to my home network, it doesn't.

as jason said go and check those first, and check the changelog too, it will give you a brief look at what's been added and how some of the stuff works. I don't want to be rude but please be sure that you've searched for the answer first, if you ask questions that you can easily find the answer yourself by just reading the readme not many people will answer to you, don't expect everything provided to you on a golden plate.

I find it very confusing as to why some people get speed hack all the time, it never happened to me. @darren: the tracking system, p, w and jumping a lot are your friends in this game. other than that I can't advise you because there are a lot of items and weapons and you must develop your own strategies. how you fight depends a lot on what items you have and what your preferred weapon is. for example if you see someone right infront of you but too far away like 100 feet you can quickly switch to the rifle and shoot him down. If you are fighting in close range and the other guy doesn't have shields then the shotgun is the best option because it has a wider range. if the distance is around 30 feet then I would advise you to use grenades. ah and if you are in close combat and the other guy has shields you can try the chianide pistol or the fireballs. and the most important rule... when you are in a battle never walk, it's too slow, it's better to keep jumpi
 ng around because the other player can't hear your footsteps so he doesn't know which direction you're heading. Good luck!

dude, using jaws to play games that is written in bgt just doesn't work. i would suggest you to download nvda to play audio games. that's what i'm doing, i'm using nvda to play audio games and jaws for other stuffs.

To the person who asked the question in the last post, you might try pressing JAWSKEY+3 on the numbers row before pressing the Redspot keystroke. JAWSKEY+3 on the numbers row passes the next keystroke, whatever it may be, through to the active application without being interpreted by JAWS.

Ok, so this is my redspot rant, don't worry, no bad comments here.My questions. First, i'm wondering why there are only, like 3 to 5 people online at a time. One time, there was 2 people online, and I was one of them. This game is great! It's the best player versus player out there so far! Let me explain a little better. We were fighting eachother, and I got kicked from the server due to speed hack detected message. This happened again, and you
  banned me. You didn't even warn me, saying rusty, why did you go offline, please don't do it again, then, I would explain to you, that it was speed hack detected. So, what I'm trying to say is, can you give us a warning next time? What I was saying earlier is, I would like a second chance. Pleas can you do it?  Alright, moving on. Another question. I'm having this trouble with redspot, i'm a jaws user. I need help on screen reader interrupt. For example, if I press w to see where a person is at it tells me, but when I press w during the message, it doesn't interrupt it. If I press w twice it would say the message, then give the second one after, instead of interrupting itself. I have a similar problem in survive the wild, where the control key doesn't stop speech, but when I use sappi it works. Is there a jaws option I can use to fix this? Ok, another question. Sam, will you consider making new maps in the future? I can see you thought

funnily enough, I've never even come across moments where there weren't enough players online. More often than not, there are way too many to be able to get your bearings properly, or at least if you aren't very experienced. I suppose that's what you get warned about in the readme, but it does make it harder to get good at the game. But I guess this is still a different reason to add offline play too. Or a way for people to set up their own servers. I have mixed feelings about this because it probably does reduce the overall number of players on any one server, so it might become less fun if you do like having loads of people around.

Sorry for the double post, but it's been a few hours and it concerns something else. I currently think the inventory system is rather clunky as well because it requires you to tab or shift+tab a lot to find the right item. How about adding keys based on item categories? for example you could categorize items like drinks, explosives, projectiles etc. So you would first need to hit key d for a drink, and then either be able to tab through the different drinks, or hit another shortcut key for directly using one. For example, d followed by p activates a poison drink, d followed by h activates a health drink, d followed by a would do an antibiotic (I guess it's not a drink, but it still kind of falls under that category). These are just hypothetical categories anyway, you could always choose to them divide them some other way. But this would at least be one way to make it easier to actually find the item you want to use instead of needing to go through a list of potentially 2
 5+ items.

Unfortunately I am still getting completely random speedhack detection warnings. I have seriously tried my best to find a pattern to them, but not with too much luck. They do seem to happen more often when there are a lot of players online, but sometimes it'll be fine for a few minutes and sometimes it'll just kick me off seconds after I log in. Just now I got one at the end of an item grabber sequence, and I didn't even press any keys! While the changes to the game definitely seem cool, it looks like there are a fair few people who can't even play the game at all because of that. I can sort of do it if I get lucky, but it's just too frustrating. And it seems some people can't even launch the game without already getting the speedhack detection.

Awesome update. I wanted to report a bug I've noticed. If you pick up two gas masks, it usually gives you an air tank instead. The problem is that the air tank it gives you can't be used. It goes into your inventory but nothing happens when you press enter on it. I think the same thing happens with claymore remotes but I haven't been able to try it multiple times to verify.

It's easy to destroy them. Pretty easy. Just jump n shoot. Or use a fire_ball on them, they bring down jets pretty quickly, and the fire continues even after they leave the jet.

i didn't know about being able to avoid bombs in the jet. but guys, really it needs to be stopt. if bomb blows up close to the jet, you'll get killed. most likely. so eather change jets start, reduce there hp, or take them out of the game. also how do you destroy jet?

I think you may have misunderstood my post, because you just said everything I had already pointed out, and didn't notice the flaw that I pointed out with the jets. I never said they were hard to destroy. I said they were allowing people to quickly jump to the bottom of the tower as an escape. I had already pointed out the fact that you wouldn't be able to hit jets if they flew fifty tiles up as well. Also, you do not need to fly your jet in order to go to the bottom of the tower. As soon as you step into the jet, you are instantly placed at the bottom. There is no flying involved. It is a cheap way to move yourself to the bottom, and happens because the tower stands taller than a jet can fly.

I think you completely misunderstood my post, because you just said everything I had already pointed out, and didn't notice the flaws that I pointed out with the jets. I never said they were hard to destroy. I said they were being abused. I had already pointed out the fact that you wouldn't be able to hit jets if they flew fifty tiles up as well. You should not be able to drop a suicide bomb, then jump in a jet to avoid damage to yourself. That defeats the entire purpose of a suicide bomb. Also, you do not need to fly your jet in order to go to the bottom of the tower. As soon as you step into the jet, you are instantly placed at the bottom. There is no flying involved. It is a cheap way to move yourself to the bottom, and happens because the tower stands taller than a jet can fly.

it's time for me to pop in,@starflate, the jet thing doesn't make any sence to me, because if u enter the jet u r inside the jet, not outside, so the jet is being hit instead as how it is now. About the jet escaping, u can simply track the player and kill him when going down if he escape from the tower. Thats what i usually do if they do that. Destroying jets is very easy.Another thing, how would u hit a jet if it was 50 tiles above u? This could be cheating because players can stay in a jet for hours until u leave and come out if they want at anytime they want. so this doesn't sound good to me.Sorry if this post does sound harsh, but it's the truth

Hi everyone.This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think jets should be removed. They don't serve a purpose anymore. They only thing people use them for is to hide. You can drop a suicide bomb, then quickly jump into your jet to avoid taking damage. You can  also use the jets as a very easy way to move to the bottom of the tower since they can't fly as high as the tower stands. If someone is being attacked at the top of the tower, they can jump in a jet, which instantly brings them to the bottom and get back out. The only thing jets are used for now is to gain an advantage that they should not have.I'm also beginning to think the same about the AFK command. You can drop a mass bomb, go afk, and avoid the damage. People are also just using the AFK command when they're done playing so that they don't lose their items. There are people who play for a while, go afk, then come back the next day. Maybe there could be like a 1 hour AFK timeout
  or something. If you're away from the keyboard for more than an hour, you probably aren't using the feature as intended.Just some thoughts off the top of my head. I wonder what Sam and everyone else thinks about this.

yeah I know that it's easy to have 8000 health but when you fight others you inevitably lose some of it, and I don't think that some can have 6 health and only 4 kills. that's definitely a cheat in my opinion.

So after several months I finally decided to put my sceptical feelings aside and try this game. Within ten minutes, the game had already closed on me twice because of a supposed speedhack detection. I don't even have anything installed that can perform a speedhack, let alone know how to use such things. Needless to say, I'm not amused and probably will not come back to this game until this does not happen anymore... Having to restart the game possibly after less than two minutes of gameplay just isn't fun. It's possible that this is because my game is running on a machine which is not particularly amazing to say the least, but I do wonder how many other people are being caught in the crossfire at the moment. So if possible, this speedhack detection system will need to be improved on before I try this again.

Actually, I have discovered that it is in fact quite easy to get 8000 health without cheating. Just get a bunch of item grabbers, and if you have poison drinks or antibiotics, you can quite easily get massive amounts of health.

i don't think random guns would be a good idea, maybe shot gun, handgun, oh, and kills counter won't be good as well. i still think finding guns is much better then start out with all of them

I agree. iit would be cool if you got like 3 random guns when you respawn and you would have to get the rest of them in items. cheaters are present in the game again, I saw different people with health over 5, one had about 7 health so it's definitely a cheat. I think a health limit would solve this problem.

a little suggestion, can you reduce the time that motion bombs take to detonate when they detect a player? now it's very easy to get away from one by jumping. I suggest a time of 1 or 2 seconds.

ok, update is grate in some way, in other ways though, it sucks. first of all, right now, there are 34 players online, or there were last time i came back in. do you see the problems it could cause? on one hand, more people play redspot, means more people like it, on the other hand, there are too many people playing redspot, or the map is too small. you added a pistal, which drains like 250  hp per hit, and you added gas masks and air tanks, which are super rare. you also gonna add guns that would shoot 20 tiles for player, which will cause even more chaos. right now, i'm not gonna play redspot just because the map is too small, and i don't have a chants of picking up ammo and someone is already shooting at me, you could say: fight back, yeah, would love to, but they have invisibility on, so i have no idea where they are, and i cant last 30 seconds to see where they are. add a gas mask hotkey, like shift g, because when you have a lots of items in your inv, it'
 s really annoying to scroll through them to find gas mask while your losing health. so please, eather reduce pistals drainige, remove pistal itself from the game, or have a players start out with a knife, handgun, and shotgun, with about 100 ammo in hand, 10 ammo in shotgun, 1 candy, and one healing item. suicide bombs are... well, it's really good in some way, really bad in other way. maybe have a 50% chants that it will kill you, and 50% that it would just do like 500 damage to you, same as in your enemy's, that way it would be more balanced, and players might not want to use it left to right. in change log, you said it's a bit more harder to spam? well, i seen player do it again and again, maybe if you spam like 3 times, despite the servers warning, bann them for an hour or 2, that should teach idiot a lesson. please add something like /pm command to send a privat messages to player, same as in stw. have an ability to keymap? i'd see why you won't add it,
  but i'd like to change up the keys a bit because i played swamp a lot, heh. mass bombs... they're really quiet, that's what you're ment for them to be like, right? i died quite a bit by those suckers. last thing is please rename candy to something like adrenalin pills, it doesn't makes sense why you'd eat a candy while someone was shooting at you. like: "oh, your shooting at me with a shotgun, i'll just eat a candy, have fun shooting, ". well, that's it, and i'd like to see why you won't add/remove/change something above. thanks for your time.

the thing with items is even if there's a little server lag, you won't pick it up in a lot of cases. For some reason, if you simply jump up and down a few times right on the coords of the item, you'll pick it up right away.

Nice change on the pistol Sam, and I also didn't realize that W was also a tracking key.  Only other complaint I have is that the radius of items seems to be really small.  I have circled an item several times, and not picked it up and I know I've been right on top of it.

because having a lock on system isn't actually as poppular as people think, its one reason why aprone never added it even when people suggested making it togglable. Do you have a problem with aiming accuratly? Use a shotgun or rocket launcher. And there's a reason why the new weapon has as little ammo as it does, but I do agree that its ammo should be nerfed to about 5. Or you could always just have people start out with the knife and the handgun and have weapons be items. Then just raise the ammo count for the handgun a bit so you have more time to find better weapons.

Interesting update to the game, but I think that new pistol is way to overpowered, as one shot kills everything pretty much.   Also, the same complaint I had before still stands.  Tracking and movement keys are really hard to play.  I don't see why you don't use WASD like all modern games do for movement, and leave O as the tracker.  The arrow keys are usually used by the right hand and having to have my ring finger on the up arrow key and tapping O is really irritating.  Also, why don't you use a lock on system like Swamp has for tracking?  Would make it a lot easier to keep track of targets instead of rapidly pressing O.

sam, you should kind of rename the candies to something like stimm packs, adrenalin pills, and change the sound for using them. Candies on a battle field wouldn't make much sence. What would make sence is for pills and neadles lying around which you could use on yourself, because in the u s army they used to and probably still give drugs to their soldiers and pilots before battles.

First, it's very hard to get 70 80 shields or 15 items of same kind. It took me about 3 hours to get 100 shielded shots, 25 claymores, 13 jets etc. And what if it just goes away because of a client crash or unresponsive client? I've lost that many items because of a random kick.At post 545, I have an idea for that. Implement a system like Stw. If a client crashed, randomly kicked or in any way the redspot process is  terminated, your character will remain for 30 seconds before the server saves your data. So, lets say if you got randomly kicked from the server and someone kills you, well bad luck. And if someone broke your shields down in that 30 seconds, your data will be saved as if you had no shields at all.

How about making an afk timer. So, you can't use weapons right after turning off afk. Even if not doing something like cheating this way is mentioned in the rules file, I still see a lot of people doing it.

Another serious bug. It is possible for a player to turn afk on while in a jet, then press enter to takeoff and actually shoot someone, or escape from a player.And seriously Sam, we need a temperary saving system. The game causes to many 0xC005 exceptions, and when it happens, the client stops working ruse all items. For solving that, we need the server to save player datas for maybe an hour, and when we log in with same ip address, it applies the player data.

I like the idea that you can not login right after you go offline. But in addition, it might be a good idea to frese players for something like 15 seconds before there logged out. That way, people will not be able to go offline during a fight. I also have 2 minor bugs to repport: If you walk during your afk timer, the server will set your status to non-afk, but the client will say that your afk. This means you are unable to walk but that others can still target you. The other has to do with bullit bombs. If you set one up, and hit t to get into the tracking menu, then exit that menu again, you will be unable to move after the bomb is placed.

Could we just start getting rid of people who do stupid stuff like that? Since the timer thing would hurt people who are really trying to play, could something else be done about it? Does this game have a ban system or something? Also, I think it would be cool if you can't activate AFK unless you haven't been near enough to other players for them to show on your radar for 10 seconds or something.

@Sam_Tupy, that's a nice idea In theory, but a lot of players (like me) get kicked do to random speedhack warnings or just because the program stops responding. It would be annoying to have to wait 5 minutes each time. Also, I saw a player that turned afk on when I was hitting it and turned it off lessthan a minute later and attacked me. He was seen turning afk on and off several times, so there might be a timelimit for that also?

I think I am going to add a timer. If you go offline you can't come back again for 5 minutes. I think that this is justified. If you have to go eat, use AFK. If you are done, you'll go offline and not come back for a bit. It would stop these fucking assholes from going offline every time they are about to loos and just coming back online. It's a stupid dick move and it's going to be stopped.

About the cave. With the amount of players that are on redspot, dying is a completely normal thing. Adding this would just probably turn into a complete mess. Players just waiting for other players to die by the cave, then constantly getting new items, then getting killed again and it would just go on and on and on. If this happens, what's the point in the server spawning items?
