However, there is plenty of room for more games in this genre, so if you plan on developing something similar in the future, go ahead. The problem is, since BGT came out, and especially since it became freeware, a bunch of 12-13-14 year olds have got a hold of it, learned it, and started developing games before their time and with co developers who were also, before their time. And then we have a few of those who... are obviously little children by the way they right. I'm not going to point fingers, I'd much prefer to stay out of this as this whole thing is a bit below my age and maturity level. The sighted community has these folks, (there's a website called gmail.net where people sit there and spam and that's not the only place they do it, but I accidently went there one day when trying to check mail), but there certainly aren't as many of them ratio wise. I'm completely in agreement with Ultrocity. The only reason I stay here is because these are the only electronic games I can play, and there are those civilized individuals with whom I can discuss computer issues, game feedback, books, writing, programming etc. I honestly wish that the mods would ban a few people and close this topic. Why they haven't done so already is beyond me, not because I expect them to do as I wish but because so many forum rules are being broken here. There are civilized, mature, adults here, but if this continues they are likely to leave. So I sincerely ask, as politely as possible, can this please, just, be closed? It's always at the top of new releases, always coming out with more flaming, nonsencical posts, and an annoying nusence to those of us who don't want to be represented by such fullishness. So far, the game play is an improvement over Ultrapower. 2DP was not an online game and the premium features just gave players the chance to edit maps and extra ambiances. IN the case of Scrolling Battles Pro, we have a multiplayer mode that allows us to play against each other. However, the corrupt aspects of Ultrapower, like the unbalanced leveling and weapon system are no longer present. Everyone has the same chance of winning fights, which is a great improvement. Besides, NS is also helping with this project. I logged onto the main server and it said that the project had been given back to Mason. Now, the custom servers are coming back and Ivan Sodo (Blink_wizard), is developing it again. For those who don't know, the developers are Ivan Sodo, known as blinkwizard or blink_wizard, and Colton Hill. But I guess you already know him. Colton hill developed with Mason, and I guess still has this code from when he was developing with Mason, so shared it with Ivan. That's all I'm gonna say here. He both made them freeware in a short time. I wunder if paying customers (if any) would get money back. and even when ultrapower was freeware there weren't many players online. If you take account that this is a payed game, you can at least expect halve of the ultrapower players not to pay for it, so you basically get some kind of ultrapower, with not as many people, and with a good chanse failing just like ultrapower did. Now, the reason why I'm done with UP completely, is because of a few reasons. There were way to many conflicts with the other developer, Colton Hill. He would Try to do everything with out my permission, and don't forget, he just helps along with the project, calling me a sucky developer in a public stream, saying that he was the head of the project when he really wasn't, and a bunch of other personal stuff I won't get in to . Another thing is, most of you want the project dead anyway. So, I ask for your opinion, let the project just die, all the hard work people put in to it, just die? Or me bringing back custom servers and be done with it? Not only that, but trust me, ba ck a few years ago, yeah I'll plainly admit it on this topic, I was a jerk. That itself puts a lot of stuff in the way, considering the developer of STW decided to say that I was gonna get people's passwords in UP. Yeah, you can do that, but why would I want to do that in the first place? Privacy is privacy, and I'll respect that. Especially if you play one of my projects. What kind of developer is that? Many games use sounds from other games. RTR, Ultrapower, DMNB, STW, Swamp, Battle Zone, and others have shared sounds at some point, so that's not even the big issue. However, you are right about the fact that it is based on code blended from three games. It takes much of its engine from Sam tupy's STW, which includes the map engine, the game mechanics, and I would even argue the inventory system, which also takes elements from Swamp as well. Many voices also come from Swamp. The most important contribution from Swamp however is the leveling system and the use of safe zones, which can be used to buy weapons and heal characters. Finally, RTR gave the game much of its inspiration, even Mason credited Ghorthalon for giving him the proper name for the genre of the game. So you can see how Ultrapower is really a few games blended into one mishmash.
