Just not personally the way I would do it, since sighted people like to see what theyre being shown. Both ways would work though, and either way I think a Goalball game is still something that should be tried... and it would definitely give sighted people the experience of the sport without any visual aid, the way its supposed to be. What the best way is depends on circumstance, but lets not get into a discussion about whats often, or generally the best way. I merely think it would be another way of introducing them to it.I could either organise a demonstration, then ask them to take upwards of an hour out of their busy day to come watch/participate, or I could tell them about it, slide my laptop over to them, and let them try it out. Of course well all know that a game on a computer is never quite t he same deal as playing it irl, but its just another way to start the conversation. I know that Jim Kitchin uses a couple of different car sounds that change as you accellerate an are sort of sampled, where as top speed starts it off at a frequency that increases then changes when the gear shifts, which doesnt sound as realistic but is still fun to hear, gives the game a quite nice arcade feel. I had an idea of implementing a tier system even for custom tracks, so if users could make their own stuff, they could put an extra parameter, tier = 1, which would be available for the first time someone launches the game, 2, which would become available when beating the tracks from tier 1 either by getting a suitable position in a race, or by getting a nice time trial goal, the next tier gets unlocked. it goes tier 3, 4, etc, so there could be almost infinite tiers as people made their own and that track wont unlock until the user reaches that tier. Same with vehicles. When a user beats a tier, both tracks and vehicles from next tier become unlocked.However, to prevent people not being able to play tracks because someone put a track for tier 9 which might not exist at the time, as the user hasnt installed any tier 8 tracks, the mode cold be a togglable option or something, so that if people jsut want to ahve fun they can play whatever track but it wont change their race standings, but if people want to play for the unlockables they can enable that option. I still compete with my team every year and love it to death. Recording all the sounds would definitely be the challenge of the development, or at least one of the biggest ones. Haha. Hanifs suggestions about boxing an wrestling would definitely be on my list sinse they can be enjoyed as much for beatemup fans as for sport fans, however I have a rather more unusual suggestion. Weve seen futuristic racing in a couple of titles like railracer and audio speed. Well back on the Amiga computer there was a game series entitled speedball which were a set of games based on a brutal futuristic game which was a cross between football (socker) with passing the ball up and down the pitch and trying to get it in the goals, Rugby or American football with players running with the ball, tackles, scrums and body attacks, and gladiators with body armour, robot medical assistants and a steel ball that would do injuries to players if not caught correctly, one mechanic I always remember being hilarious was chucking the ball so it bounced off the arena ball and slammed an opposing player in the side, youd get a foul for this (though not iff you knocked out the referee, which was a quite legitimate tactic).The game had you manage a team of playerss through divisions and had all the features youd expect, you could play in tournaments against other teams, by statistics upgrades for your players, and even buy new players from other teams. In a way just as you could have weapons and guns in a futuristic fighting game, a futuristic football type game would be fun for the extra adons possible. Also, it would appeal to people across the world, sinse obviously American football and baseball arent really played much outside the states, while some countries are big on cricket and rugby and some less so, as well of course as the game being more likely to appeal to none sports fans as well. Re: what do you guys think our next sports game should be Well I guess another wouldnt hurt we have already a soccer game of sorts in pinball as well as psy ams base ball and soccer titles.We have at least 2 bowling games.if its cars I got a cars library which was part of the old pkb autoit group which existed ages ago, so we have cars a plenty and crowds are easy to source.Racing is not usually my thing, but you would have turns left right etc not sure about hairpins I was never able to ever complete ones.maybe a few jumps and other things not sure about stunts done in a car though I know we have railracer but to be honest I dont hold much hope for that in particular because after testing it and all the abuse and the fact that I need to buy itt after I essentially got a free coppy for testing it and the fact that I never really clocked 1.0 and really dont have the time to race all day long anyway I didnt think it was worth the upgrade.I have always been interested with robot w ars when it was broadcast on tv and the old dos game one must fall.Sadly while I have robot sounds and a few other vehicles I have none of them duking it out.If we were going to sports games Id be heading more for car or ball ones since I have plenty of these sounds and in fact more than we would ever need.Music wize I do have the entire nfs1 and 2 soundtracks though we couldnt really use those 1 because they are not licenced for us to use really and 2 because I or rather a friend pulled them from the game data files.However Id like to revive the scate game for one thing we have a scate boarding game it was never finished.We also have a downhill board game also unfinished point is we have sfx already for something like this.On the subject of online I am unsure about this if we will ever do online again or if in fact we will try again.It sounds like new beginning has a lot of lag issues and to be honest its something everyon e is going to have to fix before we can even contemplate going online again at least I think we should be able to fix it I hope so.Personally I am happy if we stick with offline games but thats only because my timezone is totally outside us timezones to be honest. However, if you wanna catch all peoples interests from most of the countries world wide, I think a racing game would be a good idea rather than a sports game like american football or european football. All people know what a racing game is about, but if people have to read a lot about rules for football or any other sports game, some people might just dont like it. The game should be able to set up a server for itself and all people should play on their own room, that should create less of a problem for you. Also, the racing game should have a story mode, too. I am wanting such an audio game for a very long while now. Re: what do you guys think our next sports game should be Well danny hmmm a lot of things come to mind.Id like starship racing, some sort of car rallyI have played games with friends like need for speed underground and mmonster truck madness, being able to race trucks and bikes set world records etc.Soccer would rock as well as basket ball.However being a new Zealander if you have no objection Id like to have rugby as another coice.Now I know you American buggers dont go into that sort of thing, but rugby is one of the sports here apart from cricket which I actually find boring as heck.Tennis is good to I guess.Though we already have 1 or 2 bowling and tennis game type not lorn boles though.We only have 1 golf game, and no minigolf games to speak of as such.I know this one is a bit deathmatch esc but after playing deathmatch project alpha again and doing monster master from choiceofgames monster fighting/ mortal combat would be interesting.Those would be someth ings to handle.
