Re: Some questions about android and apps

I believe android has something called OK google, but I honestly cannot give you an exclusive response regarding this kind of application. You may check on playstore and look at the description of what it can do. If you heard about windows 10, Windows has made available The Cortana voice assistant, but I haven't taken the time to try it yet.In addition, I'd suggest you look at the mailing list I told you in an older post and ask your question regarding the voice assistant there.I'm sure they'll help you.

Re: Some questions about android and apps

Hiat afrim, thanks for your answer.I wouldnt install Kortana on an android phone at the given time, due to the fact that there are bug reports on the internet describing that after installing Kortana, surton features of some android devices stop working or are unresponsive, sometimes just a factory reset can help you out.I would be cautious about this program and see what Microsoft will do to solve this problem.I will surely check out the mailing list, that was a really great tipp.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Some questions about android and apps

Hi,The app I'm talking about is called tel manager, and it is designed to make it easier for us answering and ending calls. When you install the app and after that you get a call, the application, (tel manager) creates two buttons, one (the left) for answering and the right one for ending calls. It is a very nice application indeed.

It would also be good if this thing is multy lingual.Greetings Moritz.

Some questions about android and apps

Hello.I recently got an htc 1m7 from my father due to the fact that I wanted to see how android is faring against iOS.I have some questions about android which are still bugging me and keeping me from switching over to android completely. For information, I am not living in the US or Canada, so these apps which just are valid in these cuntrys can't help me.So, now for the questions.1. On the htc I have a keyboard which is  like the basic one on iOS, When you find the symbol you want to type, you dubble tap it.I am searching for a keyboard which with you can just slide over the keyboard and when you find the symbol you want, just lift your finger and it gets typed. Also, a direct touch typing keyboard would be nice, but that's optional.2. Are there aps like blindSquare for iOS in the google play store? The only one I found is the nearby places app from APH, but it seems to me that this app only works in the US and Ca
nada.3. Is there a mailing list or a webbsite like applevis for android users?I hope you guys can help me at leased a bit.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Some questions about android and apps

The default Google Keyboard acts like touch typing mode on iOS; if it's not installed on your phone just install it from the play store. Not sure about a navigation app, I'm still looking for one myself.

Currently, there are 3 "free" apps and 1 "paid" app I'd recommend, which work internationally:1. Nearby Explorer Online:http://tech.aph.org/neo_info.htm2. Notnav:https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … =en3. Get There:https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … r.getthere4. NowNav:https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … =en

Re: Some questions about android and apps

Hello,Welcome to the world of Android. It is so strange to start my post with an advice, but I will. I should tell that you should not see Android with the eye that you saw iOS. I mean, do not expect what you had, and how you had it on iOS.For example, if you see an app to be accessible on iOS, do not necessarily think that that app will also be accessible on android.Anyway, let's go with some suggestions and recommendations I have for you.One of the most important tasks on our daily life is calling. By default, Android has two options to answer and end calls. Pressing the home button, (if your phone has a physical one), you answer a call, and by pressing the power button, you end it. This is a good option indeed, and you can activate it by going to accessibility>answering and ending calls. Tick the options respective to what I said above and it will work. However, I would recommend you an application which is called "Tel manager
; and it is designed to do this job. It activates two buttons on the screen, respectively, the left button answer the call, and the right one rejects it. When you're in a call, you can end it by pressing the power button.Coming to your question regarding keyboard, Google keyboard is what you're looking for. Also, if you do not mind paying 3 dollars, you can buy a keyboard which is called "blind accessibility keyboard" and which supports both the options you mentioned above. As for the navigation apps, I think there was a free version of an app called Near by explorer online. You can check it out. Now, to avoid comfusion, I would like to say that almost all the popular apps that we use daily are accessible. Starting from facebook, mesenger, skype, viber, whatsapp, youtube, dropbox, instagram, google translate, Shazam and so on.If you need to take short notes, install google docks, while for web browsing, use firefox. Sadly, unlike iOS, Androi
d does not have a roter yet which would make your life easier. Now, some apps I would recommend are tap tap see, which is similar to iOS, A blind legend, which is a game, Audio recorder by sony mobile communication, which records in a perfect quality, Ivona text-to-speech, which can be either used with Talkback as a TTS, but also it can be nice if you paste a piece of text on it and press play to hear it through the voices you have installed. Other comercial tex-to-speech softwares can be acapela which has paid, but really great voices.Another good news for you is that if you do not come to like talkback, you have another, free, handy, and very useful alternative screen reader called ShinePlus. To conclude this post, there is a mailing list like apple vis and you can find the link below:https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/eyes-freeHope this all helps.Cheers.

Re: Some questions about android and apps

Hello.[[wow]], thanks for all these tips guys, I really apreciate them.I have installed the google keyboard already, and it works really great for me.I heard about shine plus, but also I heard that there are some problems with some devices and you can't run it on these. Is there an actual podcast on shine plus? I mean I like talkback, but an alternative is great.I dont have a physical home and back button, I have virtual ones located at the bottom right and left of the device, so they dont come in the way of the screen when I want to do something on the touchscreen of the device."afrim, what do you mean by that that the apps creates two buttons to answer and reject the call?I mean where does it create these buttons?Greetings Moritz.
