I did a ton of research on this in the past, and the general consensus was that if you coughed up the money, you'd actually get what you paid for. So long as you could get to Florida or wherever in like two or three days to be on the boat, and weren't picky about where your stateroom was, you could go on a cruise.That said, I've experienced a lot of scams over the years. The most common ones I currently see are the ones saying something like "Bell Canada, error in your favour, click here for your refund", which is funny since I'm not with Bell. Ditto the different banks which are reputedly telling me to enter my account details to verify I am who I say I am. Nope. I don't have an account with you guys. No thanks.I think the funniest one I ever heard, personally, was a voicemail I got on some random Wednesday. For about five seconds it actually made me nervous and confused, until I realized what I was hearing. It was a TTS voice, Microsoft David, I believe, reciting a message that went something like this (bearing in mind that it was a voicemail and didn't start at the beginning):"...local law office requesting a callback at your earliest convenience because you have broken the law. If you do not call back in next twenty-four hours we will force to take the legal action against you. Again, call us at (some random number which apparently originates in Russia, I checked). If you do not call us we will get you. Arrested. Re: What are the Dumbest Scammers/Spambots You’ve Ever Seen Hi.Oh, I had my fare share of scammers.the usuals surely, the famous aunt from some african cuntry needing to transfer trillions of dollars due to one or another reason, fake mails by apple and Paypal, fix your grammar guys.I also encountered the windows service center scam once and played along, they called me, i started an old windows XP VM.He then pretended that there is a virus by showing me the event log, pretending to fix the hole thing by typing something into the cmd which did nothing really accept produce scroling output so it seamed like something was actually going on.He then wanted me to pay for the service or he would lock my computer till I would pay him.So he logged on to a credit card site and entered his account details, it was some kind of merchant account. remember he was still connected to my machine and was entering his details in my VM. That was the moment when I did a screen shot, stopped my key logger and called him out on the scam. After hanging up I simply called the local police and basically told them that I had experienced an online scam and that I have the account details of the scammer. I usually hang up, but if I'm not busy, I'll have a friendly conversation with my scammer on the benefits of going on a trip like this and what kinds of things I can expect when I get there. Of course, you can't actually pretend to go until you swipe your credit card so your money can fund terrorist schemes and other such nonsense. I grabbed an old visa gift card I'd gotten a long time ago, had someone read me the digits on it, and after calling to see how much cash I had left on it (79 cents, by the way) I was ready. The next time I got one of those calls, I recited said digits to the nice foreign guy on the phone and he became angry with me when the transaction wouldn't run. So, I put down my phone and began laughing to myself. I picked it back up and I hear that generic call center music playing... I thought I hung up. Anyway, I waited on someone to pick up and after about 10 minutes, I get the same man telling me to stay on the line so he can make sure his company can call me at least 3 more times. I have never in my life seen that happen. I did get that one on recording actually. I've also gotten a lot of calls telling me I need to renew my car's warranty and I always have a good time yelling at the people on the other end of the line about how I'm blind and don't have a car. Years ago I received many spam messages from what was supposed to be my bank. But the odd thing about them is, I could safely delete them without even having to read the subject line because I knew I did not then, nor had I ever, had an account at that bank.Another thing that gets me is official-looking Emails from eBay, PayPal, etc. which are so full of grammar errors that anyone who is paying attention would know they weren't legitimate. When I was a kid, I used to do really stupid things on my computer that ended up getting me infected with adware or viruses. One day, when I was about to browse the forum, I got a spam message saying something to the effect of, “hi. My name is Shelly, and I am the leading director of audiogames.net. We request that you take a brief survey on our website.“ Now, I was a really dumb kid at the time. However, even I knew that this was bogus. These scammers really need to work on coding their stuff better, because anybody who uses audiogames.net will know that this is poppycock. Who are they expecting to fool? Shirley not anybody who browses this website on a daily basis?Other than that I’ve had my fair share of dumb scammer encounters; the guy who told me to give him my bank account information so that he could buy me some beer after trying to convince me he wasn’t a scammer was priceless.
