hello i've seen several people mention clok before but havent seen a thing on it so here it isclok is a fun mud where you start out being able to choose from 1 of 4 towns and several races race doesnt really matter accept for rp purpuses.xthe mapping system can be a little rough but there are lots of friendly people and as long as you stick to the roads you'll be fine.you could learn a lot more about clok from playing than i could tell you but its rather heavy on the rp. its perfectly fine to be ooc on tells and chat but on esp which is the ic communication it isnt. people are identified by the color that shows up for instance gray backround with a hint of black or something like that there is a lot to do plenty of guilds. come on over and give it a shot! who noes you might like it.clok.contrarium.netport 4000

clok has a steep learning curve, but very rewarding once you get a hang of it. You probably don't know where to train etc. Reaching out and rping is a must on here man. If you don't do these, you don't get anywhere.

Well on the one hand, Clok is not a newly released or discovered game and we've known about it for a while, indeed it has it's own page on the site database here However equally I don't think we've had it announced in new releases before and it'd be good if people knew about the game. I'd be interested to know if these soundpacks are hosted perminantly, sinse then I could update the database, indeed I fancy the vipmud one myself being as I played with no soundpack before. I also wonder what new things are in the game being as I've not played for quite some time, for example is there a miner's helmet with a lamp yet? sinse mining I always found to be a right royal pain given I had to juggle pulling the cart, wielding the pick,and holding the lantern, indeed often I had to put the lantern in the cart in order to go from room to room, and that stoppe
 d it giving any light at all. I should get back to the game, I was just considering which guild to join, and those druid like people who fought off the infected sounded fun, though equally I'd need to refamiliarize myself with the various commands and in game systems, I wonder what new things got added?

i plan on keeping the soundpacks up.second there isnt currently any form of light beyond lanterns. the thing about guilds in clok, is you have to find one that suits you. a lot of new players start with the hole ardason thing that means mining forgeing and such, but they generally give up in about a month. its a hard and very very time consuming thing, and Isn't for everyone. not to mention there is a high demand for blacksmiths and things. as far as being stuck in the dark goes there are several ways around one of course is your character can starve to death, you can ring the bell, and be rescued. secondly you can just type areas and talk about how you got there on the pendant but starving to death is far easier. if anyone has questions, as allways contact me i'll be more happy to answer.I think it was slightly misled some people about clok. When i said there were new things. there are, but not in the way people tend to think of new. I meant that there

Bah, I'm not going back on there until they get their atrocious lag problems sorted out, and, since its been that way for like a year now, I doubt its getting fixed so meh. It really takes the fun out. And crafting is a lot more realistic in Lament than in Clok. I like Clok for what it is though, but man oh man, the lag, no no no no no no no.

what do you mean lag? there isnt any lag that I've seen. I did want to be clear, i don't think anyone thaut they were. but neither of the soundpacks are mine. i just downloaded them and put them in dropbox if you want anything changed, you either have to change them yourself, or contact the soundpack makers.

@Ironcross, as I think I said before this lag is possibly at your end sinse I never noticed it myself either. As regards light sources, I wasn't meaning some amazing magical gem lights or gas lamps or whatever, I just remember mining being a right royal pain simply because there was no way to either hang the lantern on the cart, or wear it on your body say in a hat. Real world miners have been doing these things for centuries, so it did seem rather weerd you couldn't in clok, especially with the way that once you put a lit lantern in the cart it no longer gave light. As regards guilds, I was actually thinking of the wilderness one which worked with bow and spear and did lots of exploring and fighting infected creatures sinse I really did rather enjoy wilderness in the game, making fires, hunting etc, and was actually getting quite good with my staff (though my fletching wasn't working as well as I would've liked). I can't recall the nam
 e exactly I'd have to look it up, but I do know it was the exploring I rather enjoyed. As to new stuff I just meant other stuff they were working on, like for example I know they were planning to add ways of glazing pottery and more recipes to cook.

You might mean the udemi. much is currently being worked on from the looks of things. they have recently started a monthly thing each month has a theme. The first time they put us all in this foggy city so you couldnt peer in tiles, and we had to find and kill eachother. this time i think we half to all work as a team to kill a bunch of gm sent out infested as far as I no, that ones tonight.

if its on my end, then I don't know why, since I don't experience it on any other mud. It's this  1 - 3 second delay whenever you type in a command, and I'm not talking about roundtimes or the time it takes for your command queue to run its course. anything from look to sheath axe will not go through right away. And I do check back every once in a while to see if its fixed, because I do like it and I do want to play, it's just jarring and breaks immersion.

Just a quick tip. You don't need to see in order to get things out of your pack. If you know you have a torch, just type get torch, then light torch, and it will automatically get the relevant things. Secondly, Dark, What I do if the mine doesn't have a sconce is just walk through and survey until I find what I want, then drop my lantern. From there, I go back and grab my cart or wagon and bring it to that location. Sometimes it helps to have two lanterns and juggle them around to make sure you have light when you need it. There is a guild with access to light globes that you can wear around your neck, but they aren't mine oriented. Honestly, if you want to be a udemi, either knap stone heads, or find an artisan to make them for you. Fletching gets better at about 150-200 skill level.

I recommend using candle, if you plan to mine, unless you really need to survey. i generally just drop the lantern on the ground in one spot and start mining.For those who need help getting around on Clok, my main char, who is also one of what dark is interested, is Artus. I'm more than happy to help. I also have other two sub chars.@Ironcross, I'm not sure why you can't stand that roundtime thing. I actually thought it lagged, but actually...i don't call it lag. I call it roundtime and command delay. And it's so far has no effect in game, since most action from both your and your apponent has roundtime and command delay as well.Crafting? I think if they work on it more, it could get really awesome, since now I've seen it reaches the level of awesomeness already. Udemi was indeed the guild I was interested in because I liked the wilderness, I just tried mining to explore  options and actually I did like  surveying and looking around for ores and fighting  those nasty shadows, I just found the light thing a right royal inconvenience.Napping would be good, but I never found where to find flints to do it, sinse I think they're only in the mountains and I never ran  across too many mountains,  plus fletching was proving difficult enough, (I was far more effective with my iron bound staff).

Flints are easy to find, if you know where exactly you should look. If not stone canyon, it's around the hilly part, but only in certain places.Shadgard mine is by far the worst mine ever, and gad's mine is overrun. But you at least have haiban mine. it's one of the best mine in the game. clok has gotten many more stuff added. worth checking it out

Ironcross, are you possibly using the really old VIP soundpack, the one claiton or what ever his name worked on? that one cause a lot of lag for some folk because of the large number of scripts and gagging. there is a slight delay between sending a command and response, but I've rarely seen that go longer than a second. I also am more than happy to help people out in clok. I play maric, but also have a number of other characters i dust off from time to time, and there is not much I don't have at least a little experience with at this point.

Ironcross can you tell me if you're using a soundpack, or something like that, and if so which one, because I've been playing for years and never seen delays on the level you talked about in the other thread. it is possible it's on your end and if so, we might be able to help. yes there can be a bit of a delay, but unless we're in one of the rarer and rarer surver slowdown moments, I've never seen it be worse than 1 second

also note if you're using the mushclient sounddpack the end rountime is way off. Not sure if that can be fixed or not. Hven't been playing for awhile cause I been busy with my mom and stuff so.. maybe I'l get back to it eventually..

i think it's the game, not the soundpack. i've used both clokpacks for mushclient (both sneak's and mine), and I never get anything i consider command lag. I'm not sure what kind of lag you really ment though, ironcross.

he's probably confused roundtime and command lag. command lag is when the server lags and fails to send the command in time. there's a bit of delay in every command, and it's normal, it't not lag, not at all.

I could see how that would happen, especially if his pack was gagging the round time info, I've seen a few packs that do that for movement and the like, claiton's did I know that for sure, and subed and scripted so much that the game really did run faster without it.

I'm happy to report that a couple of days ago I killed my first spider, those things are a real pain. I was playing my Rook hovering around Terueka and there was a spider hanging around outside the entrance to the thoroughfare, so I pulled out all the stops using both cryomancy and sorcery and hit it with everything I had. I had to retreat back into the thoroughfare a few times but I killed it, I think I got a couple of lucky hits on its abdomen with my cryosorcerous bolts and I managed to not only severely wound it but exhaust it to the point where it fell unconscious, yay for cold magic. I don't know whose logging left that spider there but at least I managed to deal with it, I can tell you I was not impressed when I went to go grinding in Terueka and found that damn thing sat outside.

The Rook Parlour's main building is in Mistral, they focus on cryomancy and sorcery which includes some element of utilising nethrim a little like necromancy in other settings. There's also the Elemancy University which teaches more traditional mage abilities like control over air, water, fire and earth but requires a 5,000 riln fee to join, it can be found on the roads southeast of Mistral or northeast of Shadgarde. There are also other guilds which practice some amount of magic to varying degrees - Udemi can use druidry, Utasa get wave bending and so on.That said I like cryomancy because it also gives you a freezing aura when you channel it, meaning whenever you try to attack an enemy or they try to attack you there's a chance they'll suffer a penalty from being chilled and when you hit them with a melee attack there's a chance you'll do some cold damage, combined with the fact that whatever form of cold damage you do it seems to drain an opp
 onent's energy quite effectively leaving them more tired than they normally would be and potentially vulnerable. Rooks work well in conjunction with weapons, whereas with an Elemancer you're reliant on your magic as your weapon more but they do get some quite powerful abilities.

Actually I found the rook parler by accident. I just realize I can channel sorcery, while fighting. This combind with hitting the enemy with a hatchet seems to be effective. I haven't been able to learn ability 2 yet, I forget what its called. Anyways, My current char on their is Corbanion.

Oh my Utasa has already visited chapter house  There's some very useful gear there.WP85, you can type trance to start automatically casting spells at a target just like battle in melee and barrage at range with a bow or similar. The chance of damage from your channeled magic is indeed nice but the freezing aura ability which gives you the ability to channel cryomancy I find does quite a few more things than just that extra damage. Using both together can do up to 60 damage in one hit, 40 cold and 20 nether, but [[wow]] does it drain your energy quickly so I tend not to do that if I can help it.

The pyromancers when they channel can seriously rip apart an enemy if it hits.  Elemancers look fun, but from what I've heard it's not an easy character to play.

I am doing real good with my current character. I use cryomancy a lot, Plus I bought a flintlock, which seems to be quite powerfull. I also started a farm. and Once I grow crops I'm going to try and sell them, and see how that goes. So far the only thing I've managed to grow is weeds. lol

Well lead shot only costs 1 riln each and the powder horns give you 35 shots each which I seem to think comes to about 2 shots per riln, compared to the cost of arrows it's not that bad. I did once manage to hit a turkey in the abdomen for 80 pierce damage, not bad given it died with just that one hit.I've been trying to practice up hurled weapons on my Utasa and for that I'm using stones I've foraged, mostly just large stones. Since they're free it doesn't much matter what happens to them and I did do 30 damage to one of the rotting nethrim in the Shadgarde graveyard once.

Well I was desperate for a bit of exploring, so I tried this one, and sure enough exploring is what I got. The problem I'm finding is a lot of the game systems are pretty complex and rather unforgiving if you got them wrong, for example I bought a handaxe rather than a lumber axe to chop wood and if it wasn't for one particularly kind player I'd have had a good few more wilderness trips than I wanted.I do like the need to prepare for journies and the idea of getting skills by what you do is good, also the wilderness is certainly my thing, although the game isn't exactly forgiving, I got killed by a coyote after making the mistake of assuming that training in staffs meant I could take something on, also it took me a while to work out camp fires and I've not yet managed to carve anything halfway decent or lucrative, (actually I am wondering what the heck all those branches are for when I fell trees sinse it seems the only practical good you get
  is making fires, particularly sinse it seems to be easier to find little wild herbs in the forest than firewood which is very odd), indeed I was just trying to cook the first thing I managed to kill (a fox), when a brigand suddenly walked in, womped me in the chest with his mace and killed me stone dead in one go!Actually the combat commands arne't something I've fully got yet, sinse at first it seemed unless I actively typed "kill" or "battle" I wasn't actually attacking at all.I also wonder how the herbalism knolidge skill goes, sinse I've been doing loads of foraging for herbs and firewood, but not  seeing any sort of skill increase. The game is good, it reminds me of when I started playing wayfare with it's complex wildenress and crafting, and also slower over all combat, though I  suspect it won't have the problem wayfare ran into, namely that once you'd setup your colony and were starting to

Either way herbalism is increasing now. I've also tried some cooking which is cool. I do really enjoy the exploring and wilderness survival end of things, I just wish that I could reliably kill anything larger than a turkey! . Right now I don't have any complete thoughts as relates to guilds, though the unarmed beast fighter lot sound interesting.What rp I've done is someone who grew up in a small fishing villag

The RP very much depends on the individuals, some people are quite good while there are times someone tells me to chill and I die a little inside. As for skills and training they can be rather slow especially for crafting, how it works is when you buy training you receive one extra skill point in the skill then for the next 2.5 skill points you earn the game doubles it to represent you putting your tuition to practical use. This means you effectively get a total of 3.5 extra points compared to how much you normally get. The rolls such as for herbalism are between 0 and your skill plus a hundred, thus 30 herbalism gives you from 0 to 130 as your roll. Just as another note going above 50 herbalism lets you create poultices, though getting the ingredients can be tricky. The skills tend to go up by tiny amounts normally, maybe 0.05 per success increasing with the difficulty of the roll and they only go up on a success.A lot of the mobs are quite tricky and I find them difficult
  myself, though you can get rid of starving animals by carrying around a couple bits of raw meat and dropping one on the floor which the animal will then run off with. The tools are indeed quite specific, though if you look at the information in the shop it tells you exactly what each tool can be used for. Carving branches also seems to take a hellishly long time.Here's some advice regarding combat commands. First up is position, your choices are avoid which means you're trying to stay out of a fight altogether and the enemy finds it difficult to get to you in melee, ranged where you can shoot spells or other weapons at them but they still have to make a test to advance on you though it may not be as hard as for avoid, and engaged which means you're in melee. That's fairly self explanatory, and in some cases ranged weapons will automatically try to keep you at ranged while using barrage while if you use battle it'll automatically try to move into enga
 ged position. Think of it as being like short and medium ranges in smugglers 3. Next are tactics, none is the basic standard while offensive gives you a bonus to attack but a penalty to defence while dodge, parry or block give you a bonus to defence but a penalty to attack. These are basically stances. Dodge works best if you're not weighed down with armour but even with heavy armour you can still get some use out of it, block is for shields and parry is for parrying with your weapon and both of these depend on your weapon or shield's ability to block or parry.Also of note is the health command which can not only tell you about your own injuries, but you can use health  to see how badly injured an opponent is. This works well in conjunction with the aim command, you can aim none or aim body part, you don't have any extra trouble hitting the opponent but the attack cool off is increased to 6 seconds and you're not guaranteed to hit the locatio
 n you want. Eyes and neck are particularly difficult to hit. Any vital location that receives 100 damage will cause an instant kill, or 50 in the case of eyes, so specifically aiming for vital locations that have taken a decent amount of damage already can help take an enemy down faster. Vital areas are abdomen, chest, back, neck, eyes and head. Beware though because the same applies to player characters.Don't rush into guilds, get a feel for the game and which aspects you enjoy first. There's nothing wrong with staying guildless even though it'd take some work to make the character more interesting in my opinion. If you see Hidrin, Kharda or Nalsa drop me a tell and I'll see what help I can't give you, though unfortunately I haven't got around to signing up with the BBS thus far so I can't help with that.

For new players, returning players, or existing players, my character is trying to create a new, player-run organization in Clok specifically focused on druidry, protecting nature, promoting harmony between nature and the cities, and interacting with the Gaea through ritual. I thought there were already groups in Clok devoted to nature and balance etc? As to whitestick.co.uk, it's nothing to do with me. It's a site run by a chap called Tom Lorimer in Scotland who had lists of various handy links to all sorts of things not just games, however the "games to play online" page is one of his most useful resources and one of the most comprehensive lists of online games there is. Obviously though it won't remain comprehensive if people don't inform him of games like Clok.I'd recommend checking out his site generally, it's full of useful things. As to clok I need to give it another try myself it is one of the most fun mud's I've played.

Hi,No, actually. that's what I thought, and it seems to have been a common misconception. The Udemi branch of Tse Gaiyan is dedicated first and foremost to the destruction of the Resen, which causes infestation. They use any druidic gifts in the single pursuit of that goal. Think of the difference between D&D rangers vs d & d druids. The only other Druidic group is dedicated mostly to destroying cities and are generally militant. Recently, TG has begun to refer to themselves as rangers, instead of Druids, to help clarify that example.

I am / was Jonan. I've returned long enough to see the lag is still horrible. I'm sorry but I can't play a mud where nearly a second goes by before a response comes in. I just can't, even though I like Clok.

roundtime for looking at a room, for checking your inv, for doing non-movement related things. Bah, if that's the case then yeah... I refuse to wait a second for a response in a mud, that's like dial-up connection.

I just glanced through at this, what exactly did you want me to update? My harddrive crashed a few weeks back so I lost most of my sound libraries along with the version I was working on, I haven't had the motivation to put in another update yet because I'll be having to backtrack a lot to get to where I was. If there's something specific though I can try and swing something for you.Also, almost forgot to mention, this whole weekend is double skill gains.

I do to, I understand the roundtimes when you're travelling outside the towns in the wilderness, I like that, it adds immersion to the game and a sense you're in a new world, well, it helps anyway. What I don't like is the lag while checking your inv, after you type eat, whatever, after you type any command there is a lag, and its a bad one. If that wasn't a factor, I'd be back there right now.
