Re: Increased Fan Activity on my Mac, please Help
Re: Increased Fan Activity on my Mac, please Help As a quick fix: Try Max Fan control... https://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-controlIt will take some tinkering to do much of anything(I'm using custom temp values, on CPU Core 2, fans start raising from 54F, hopefully no more than 65F.)(I have read that most mac laptop's work nice around 65F, and you don't really want it going past 70-75 or so so keep that in mind.). I burned through two SSD's before I started out using this thing, myself. Also, for some unexplainable reason I can only get this thing to work in Windows, Bootcamp. Anyways if money's an issue and you hope for a software fix, this may be it: Assuming none of your fans are broken. Makes my fans run a lot more than they would using automatic mobo settings. Maybe you could also adjust some UEFI values instead of using this, but that would require having sited help around. I've opened up my machine, and used compressed air on it , but still the overheating issue. Honestly I think more noise is less of an issue than a computer that constantly recks the SSD, or whatever, and max fan control has made this SSD last longer than 6 months so in my not having Applecare book it fixed it for me. Re: Bye, bye, Alexa
Re: Bye, bye, Alexa Echo plays propaganda grandma way to often. I prefer the voice solution, that no matter who runs the radio I want to tune to, that it works every time. Google is winning currently, but their infrastructure sucks because you have to buy two things, or spend $300 to get headphone out through it. Like with life, you have to pick your battles. I prefer Google ATM, though I stopped using any voice assistants myself accept for Siri. I agree with everyone's assertions in this thread. Amazon is slightly better than Siri, but Google is 50% better, but it has a horrible microphone , at least on the mini for voice calls. All you have to do is open port 22 for your computer and it's open to the world. Putting your machine in the DMZ does this as well. The bad thing about this is the fact that Microsoft even dared to do this. There's really no damn point, and it has absolutely no security measures at all in place to prevent SSH vulnerabilities from being exploited. It has no brute-force preventive tools, and any password rate-limits you set in Local Users and Groups are bypassed. So if a hacker really wanted to they could repeatedly guess your password for months and you'd never even know. There are no safeguards like SSH guard or fail2ban. And the thing that's worst of all is that most likely those who do enable developer mode don't even realize that it's running in the background unless they know where to look.Great post: Those who are confused should read this very carefully. Re: Deciding between android and iOS from a different angle
Re: Deciding between android and iOS from a different angle If you use google play music, the iOS equivalent for accessing your music is pretty accessible, along with mostly everything on the platform. I have experienced the unclickable button until I turn off talkback on Android: That sort of thing almost never happens on iOS devices. Android lets you customize the system much more than iOS does, and easily lets you do file sharing things from the device. That's why Android as it is right now is for power users, and cheap phone chasers. If you want the best accessibility solution of now, you pick iOS, negativity notwithstanding. There are always server solutions you could choose to use. Re: Google tts on android 7.0? Don't know anything concerning faster speech: Everything in that department looks the same as usual. The newish things I noticed about talkback and Android is that Talkback will now read the notification icons one by one, like on iOS. They also seem to have extended where they allow audio ducking. Re: NVDA remote unsecurity prooven, recording of dev included ZOmg guys connect to my box so I can bitch about this like there's a flaw because one guy connected who knew what he was doing! You ask for people to connect for any reason on twitter and give out info for your machine: That's on you period. Hence why updates/OS security/account security, mentioned for good measure, is so important. Also, this recording is killing me guys: I don't miss my TT days after hearing this. Anyone who is wondering if this matters to their security of their NVDA remote sessions: This is just FUD unless you give someone you don't trust your key/private server URL, if you use it who was technically smart. Re: Question about free streaming radio program
Re: Question about free streaming radio program Some of these options are not free, but here are the best broadcasting programs for windows.StationPlaylisthttp://www.stationplaylist.com/There is free NVDA addon scripts for this thing: That's why people swear by it so much. I think the user interface is more confusing than it has to be, though, but might be worth the learning curve for you. Similarly, there's radioboss.https://www.djsoft.net/I like it's built in broadcasting tools. No using a plugin to do what should be the bare bones must have for an app like this... Especially one that you pay for. Also configuring/using mic quickly with no fus for me, are reasons I prefer this thing to station playlist studio, though I haven't used studio it in years...Then of course, there's sam broadcaster.http://spacial.com/Biggest gripe I have with it is of course that you have to rely on a MySQL, or Firebird database backend, for example. They support a few other sql types, but that's not the point of running a broadcasting tool. If you want to sound pro, but have a hard time configuring rotations and such unless your a Jaws user,,, go ahead. I'm talking Sam broadcaster pro, I guess is the name they call this thing now. Here are some free options:ZaraRadio 1.xhttp://www.zarastudio.es/en/download.phpRadioDJhttp://www.radiodj.ro/Hope this helps.
