Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Errors in Encoded Files
Just use flac-verify.exe for flac files, if that reports no errors the flac files aren't broken. If these are an archive you should maybe use something like 10% PAR files as well so you can restore any odd broken files. If they've all gone I think there's something bigger at play, either they weren't encoded properly in the first place or whatever verifier you're using isn't doing it's job properly. -- probedb Paul. My guess (and I will experiment myself, but I'd like to hear thoughts)is that you can't tell the difference. Thoughts? They're your ears. What you hear and what someone else hears will be completely different. R. What he said! I rip everything as FLAC so that's what gets played back but I use MP3s (LAME -V 2) for my nano with some Westone UM-2s and to be honest I generally can't tell the difference. If you're wanting to encode to a lossy format for a portable then go with FLAC as it means you'll never need to rerip if another, better lossy format comes along. Also transcoding to another lossless format will never result in any loss in quality as they're both lossless :) HTH. -- probedb Paul. [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Does transporter or SB3 support chinese and Japanese fonts?
I have a music library that's primarily in English and maybe 25% songs in Mandrain, cantonese and Japanese. I'm seriously thinking about commiting to a Transporter or at least a SB. the above question weights heavily in my mind. will I be able to see the non english files in my music library? can someone with this experience please share?
