Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2011-05-25 Thread Curt962

Phil...

I gave your updated plugin.pm, and index (?) files a whirl in my
Vista64, SbS 7.5.4, and my Wife's Boom.Seems to work fine.

Noticed in the logs that the files are being upsampled to 96khz. OK.
Momma's boom can't take advantage of that, but perhaps my Touch will
like it.

The web UI for Inguz still s_cks. Basically non-functional, but it's a
non issue I guess. Inguz functions are easily manipulated on the Boom.
More easily than Touch in some instances.

Thanks for providing the download.Much appreciated.

Their drivers are used in many commercial speakers around the world.

If you are into diy I can recommend that you take a look at Troels

Curt,
once plugin.pm has generated the custom-convert.conf file it can be
edited by hand... find the mac address of the BOOM and change all of
the 96000's to 48000 (works for radio and duet and SB2/3 too).
That's what I do.

Assuming it is a limitation of Transporter's processing power, can we
relax the fw a bit to support 24/192 WAV or AIFF? Or FLAC with lesser

Whilst I agree that people can be too cynical about such things and
their comments are unhelpful to those of us that do want to try things
out, I do hope you will take note of the problem I had that was at
least partly created by your own recommendations. This isn't a

I'm looking forward to getting back to my work domicile where I can try
out my new AudioLense 2.0!Despite my disappointing experience with
DRC (using another software method) I really think that DRC is, or at
least could be the beauty of computer based audio.

Just playing around with the AL software suggests that it is far more
user friendly than the other program I tried...which had me flying
blind (IMO) thru much of the process. Lots can go wrong as I found
out.

I'm super excited to give it a try, and if I have even modest success
with it, I'll be a happy boy.

Question: Is there any way to get streams such as Rhapsody to be
processed by Inguz/AL?I have tried proxied streaming (to route
streams through the server) but no joy.Much of my listening is done
via Rhapsody and it would be great to have the audio processing applied
to it as well as music taken from the hard drive.

Ideas??

As far as I know, clocks are OK and the circuitry is fine (we modded
Transporter twice, replaced output stage, replaced two clocks, modded
transformers, added power supplies for clocks, some more capacitors for
the power supply).

DAC is fine as well

CPU is weak and cannot carry the bitstream of 192/24 (which is also
happening with 96/24 with high compression rate)..

This is what I know..

Just because there is a 48kHz multiple clock doesn't mean it can run at

As a toy project we are making this kit:

https://www.madisound.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=8830

We ordered the vanilla crossovers and the convenience kit.

I had a neighbor (who makes kitchen cabinets) order the 1 MDF and he
is
also cutting it. I will get the wood from him on Thursday. I will cut
all the holes, including 5 in each brace piece (times 8.) We've ordered
a biscuit joiner from Amazon and another friend supplies the bar
clamps.

This is large for a two-way (in my experience.) Taller and fatter than
my Audience 72's, ending up 8.5W x 12D x 41H

I'll post pics of construction if anyone's interested.

If you are into diy I can recommend that you take a look at Troels
Gravesen site; here are a overview of his ScanSpeak based constructions

Madisound is the distributor in the US

Troels Ekta Grande design was what first attracted attention.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Anyway for Transporter to support 24/192?

2011-05-25 Thread Mnyb

The forum search function is recommended this old issue has been
rehashed many times in different forms (same goes for Touch) for the at
least 5 years.

This is also a non problem as there is almost no real music available
in 192k

And some is sourced from consumer SACD ? who's ultrasonic noise drowns
any residual music content at high frequncies so 24/88.2 is sufficient
for that (so you get everything above 44.1 filtered away) whats the
point in encoding DSD HF noise up to 96k .
20/88.2 would probably code SACD sourced material just fine imho...

The one 192k record I have is sourced from an analog master from the
sixties.
16/44.1 would encode that just fine, however the remastering work is
very good, so it was worth getting for that.

There will be very few PCM recorded (no consumer DSD) modern digital
productions at 192k much of that will be audiophile music yuk.
Your life is to short.

Wake me up when you can buy real music in this format in any
quantity.

However 24/96 gets more traction, Steve Earle's latest comes in an
edition with an DVDV with a 24/96 2ch version of the whole album :)
Neil Young can be had in 24/96 too.

Even 24/96 is a marginal format, not used very much so almost
insignificant in music business as a whole.
But due to DVDA rips and some online vendors, I have at least
accumulated 124 albums in 24/96 format. it makes a dent in my music
collection
124/2603 = 4.76% I'm probably lucky to find that much music I wanted in
that format, how many of those have a recording quality that merits a
hirez release ? not that many, i have to say :-/ and some if is *couch*
audiophile music I wasted my time with.

If you do your own studio work and wants to listen to some raw material
in 192k I would try to audition a DAC from Weiss for example.
