Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Shielded Mains Cables
As well as shielded cables, one of the bug bears of many an audiophile in the UK is the plug fuse and it's dodgy connection in many plugs. One way around the problem is to get a multiple outlet strip like this http://www.biagmbh.com/katalog/pdfs/77/7735.pdf (there are plenty for sale on ebay, just search for 'IEC distribution' but I know the one I've linked to is a well made unit). Internally it uses 5mm xsection solid copper soldered to the outlet connetions. You can bypass the funky fuse in the unit (it's there for the USA as they don't have fuses in their plugs) and if you want to you can solder your supply cable direct onto the copper supply rails rather than using the first socket for the supply. Make up your own cables using good quality shielded cable and IEC plug and sockets (Schurter or Kaiser ones are good) and you're good to go. You then only have 1 fuse in the plug that goes to the mains rather than a fuse in a plug for every piece of equipment. Much better than trying to get BIG cables into one of the hydra type plugs and you've eliminated the vast majority of the fuses. As usual with electricity, if you don't know what your doing don't even try as electricity can kill! -- killie99 Musical Fidelity KW250S, Impulse H2 speakers, SB3, Duet a Boom and another Boom killie99's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8337 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87319 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

It seems that my touch which has TT2.0 applied has only one jive_alsa proces, my other touch which only has the RT stuff done has two processes (one for spdif and one for the analog output). That makes it a bit harder to get the PID's of both of them. Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] New Squeezebox Touch Mod
Normally the Touch has two jive_alsa processes, one for the sound effects (beeps, blips etc), and one for the music outputs, it handles both analog outs and digital outs. The music one will have a -d default in its command line, the effects one has a -d plughw:2,0. When you use TT2.0 the effects process is disabled and both the effects and music are routed to the same jive_alsa process (which is why its imperitive to turn off sound effects when using TT2.0). You do have to be careful with the process numbers, they can change.
