Meanwhile I have found another DAC, that many are raving about. Looks

If I were able to do the soldering myself, I am sure this would be the

What you write about the sound of your DAC, is EXACTLY what I am

Thanks for your help!

You can see it here:

BTW, you use analog or digital out from Touch, as I hear digital out is

Everything seems to be working fine, though I will see if any bugs bite

One question I had, though: why do you recommend implementing the

I'm not sure if these dynaudio-rules mods are still required.

I'm running my own optimizations in that area.

They might even interfere. For now I wouldn't use those different
approaches in parallel. You end up not knowing of what is doing what.

At a later stage you might merge/apply them.

If dynaudio-rules approach turns out to be the better choice, I'll have
a look at them.

As with all other mods, you should try the daemon-killer.
Then you decide if you want to run it or not.
I do think it's well worth trying. ;)

Cheers

Ahhh...thanks for clarifying on the dynaudiorules' mods. I'll go ahead
and remove them for the time being, then.

On the daemon killerif I'm reading your instructions correctly, you
say it'll take a hardware reset to get you back in in order to run any
of the TT commands. Do you mean a Factory Reset or just a simple
reboot? I suspect you mean just a reboot as I believe the factory
reset would completely wipe out TT 3.0, right? Please
confirm.thank you!

Hi Klaus-

Just installed 3.0, it works great. The help screen is a great new
feature, as is the screen on-off command. Overall a more friendly, more
convenient package.

And I must say, I do think the SQ is improved over V 2.0. My system
sounds cleaner and clearer to me. It's not a huge difference, but it is
a noticeable one. I can hear some of the small details in the music more
easily. And this is with the screen on. (Although on my setup I don't
really hear a difference with the screen off, to be honest.)

Anyway, thanks again. And to those of you who use the program but
haven't donated, make a donation!

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] soundcheck's Touch Toolbox 2.0

2011-11-02 Thread cvj

After downloading Soundcheck's new modification toolkit 3.0 and
installing it without any problems thanks to the very clear
step-by-step documentation provided on the blog, I am totally blown
away with the very obvious improvements to my listening experience.

I have no hesitancy to recommend these software mods to owners of the
Logitech Touch... It is not difficult to implement Klaus'
recommendations and the results are most gratifying.

Due to my wireless setup, the only mod I have not able been to
implement is the LAN mode. Most of my listening is streaming from
Spotify Premium (OGG Vorbis 320 kbps) and to me the listening
experience clearly surpasses or is equal to listening to my collection
of CDs streaming from the SBS. (of course, this is a totally subjective
impression - trust your own ears!).

Again, warmest congrats to Klaus for all his hard work in developing
this toolkit for us!

Many thanks to you Klaus

V3 is clear step up from V2, congratulations I (and I hope a lot of
fellow members) will be making a donation towards the development fund.

Only issue I have seen is probably specific to my set up in that i use
Spotify premium and need the screen display. There is a long running
fault with the Touch where it will sometimes lock up when you go to
change a track on spotify.

The only way to fix is a soft re-boot - if you do that then the Touch
comes back without display (even though it is enabled from your help
mods).

Thats without using the daemon killer (tt -k) mod also.

Other than that its a great step up.

Best regards

Mark

Just had the chance to listen to a few of my fave tracks again and
everything is more alive and musical - compared to V2, V3 is different
league.

Now, what Logitech should do is hardwire these software mods, and blow
the Sonos / Linn DS brigade away.

But only after employing Klaus and paying him a wedge of investment $$.

Hi hate the US terminology but V3 really is awesome.

Hi bluegaspode,
I'm not sure how much contact you have with people from the music
industry, but a very, very high percentage think that most audiophiles
are people who spend (waste) their money on things that pro-gear does
much better for a much less money. Most sound engineers are very
pragmatic and empiric instead of idealist and deductive in their
thinking.
This makes most people that work professionaly with music production
inclined NOT to look for differences in mods.
I might be an exception (who knows?), but the majority of this field is
very sceptical regarding audiophile mods. ;)
hope it makes more sense to you now :)
