my first clue about his status was his remark about the Hi Rez files not sounding Audiophile quality. How many years have this board and many others had this debate on audiophile quality, when we all know or should know it all starts at the master recording. Just because a file is in FLAC of some other Hi Rez format does not mean it automatically can pass as audiophile. At that price point, IMHO it would be a no brainer. Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Data Rate Kbps
Still confusing, how are you running the network when you get 3000Kps? A lot of factors are in play here. Where is the LMS server located from the Transporter? How far is your wireless router from the Transporter and Server? A network test as I understand it, is the systems ability to stream music at different Kps rate (someone chime in if I have it wrong), so your 3000Kps vs. 35% is throwing everyone off. Normally the percent repercent the signal strengh of the wireless signal. And at 35% is very low and could cause issues streaming Flac files or other Hi res music. -- Recoveryone Slim Device Transporter wirelessly connected Pioneer Elite VSX-81TX Optimus LS3's 2nd SqueezeBox 3 Wirelessly connected (Bedroom) Pioneer VSX 520K Optimus LX5's 3rd SqueezeBox 3 Wirelessly connected (MediaRoom) Pioneer VSX 510 Optimus LX5's 4th Squeezebox 3 Wirelessly connected (livingroom) Integra ADM 2.1 Teac MKII EQ Fluance SX Server (In garage) running on P4 3.0 GHz 2 gig ram Windows XP (Sp3) 350 Xternal gigHD Verizon Fios wireless router w/HG antana Recoveryone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9205 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93879 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Best way of getting from SB to speakers
This is the 2ch setup I just put together: Amp.Integra ADM 2.1 EQ..Teac MKII 10 SB..SB Classic Speaker.Fluance SX I have read here that some say use a DAC along with the touch and Amp, but with just what you are looking at you can just use a power amp with an EQ and rely on the built-in DAC's of the touch. To cover the difference is that an integrated amp will allow you to tailor the sound. Amp only will just boost the sound. As for cost will depend on your own taste and what you like. The above setup I have barley hit the $200 mark, cables and all. Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Is there a device to make internet radio streams sound better?
I believe the point has been over looked, The main issue is a 64kbs stream (normal internet streaming) can not be made to sound better with DAC or any other enhancement measures. As some have said the only way is to tune in a HD station that puts out a higher bitrate stream, and that may only be 128kbs. Does anyone know if there is a standard bitrate level for HD streaming? (like TV's have). I can have one station in my area that streams HD (AAC) and it is converted into 700kbs Flac format. Then again I listen to LastFm and its stream is only 128kbs. but most station stream at 64kbs, which I feel it sounds about half a step above AM radio. I have a HD headunit in my car and it brings in several local station and the sound quality is noticable. [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Re: simple but high quality
thanks for the info, and will go with the digital out. I was reading some of the other post about which computer setup (power) is best as a server. Upstairs: I have a P4 2.8 gighz with 2gig of ram and 2 80gigHD connected to my network via wireless card Downstairs: P3 800mhz with 1gig of ram 2 20gigHD hardwire to the router The P3 system runs the Slim server flawlessly adding music and navagation vis softsqueeze. The P4 system has never fully ran the server (adding songs) or even work to playback music via softsqueeze. I've reinstall the server 4-5 time with the same or worst results. I keep all of my music on the P4 system on the 2nd drive, and the way things are going I may need to move all of my file over to the slower system. I guess my question is it better to have your server hardwire and send out the signal wireless to the SB3. -- Recoveryone SqueezeBox 3 (comming soon) Netgear Mp101 analog connected Pioneer Elite VSX-81TX Pioneer Elite DV-45A Pioneer Elite M53 CD Pioneer M66R Cassette Recoveryone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9205 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31076 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
