They sound much better coupled with my Boston Acoustics CR8's than when I disconnect the CR-8's and listen to the m22i's alone. A significant amount of lower midrange drops out. At low volume, this is no problem, but they don't have the punch I am looking for when you crank them up. Those are just my initial impressions. Unfortunately, this is a very busy time of year to be auditioning speakers. I wonder if the Axiom M3ti would be better for bass reproduction, given that they have a 6-1/2 woofer. There's only one woofer as opposed to two on the M22ti, but it is bigger... -- Mark Lanctot Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Actually, my Sunfire Jr. sub seems to blend quite nicely with the m22's, which I think I will keep since the Paradigms aren't sold online (I did find one dealer, but no trial period offered), and I don't have a local dealer. I haven't had time to really mess with the settings on the sub because it's been behind the Christmas tree. When I get that down, I'll tweak the settings. I think I'll be quite satisfied with this combo. -- Kyle Kyle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2541 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

bass at volume is always going to be tied to the woofer diameter/ displacement and the size of the room it needs to drive. bookshelf speakers have it hardest, it sounds like you need floorstanding speakers. i have that setup now and spend my entire life adjusting my sub volume. i dont believe it matches my m22's linearly, ie, i need it almost off when playing quiet music and dialed well over half for loud. if you are a fire and forget person i dont think subs are suitable. Im definately going the floorstanding route. pity your wife wont play along. _sam -- teanau teanau's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

yeah i got them for surround speakers, currently im trying to marry them with the ep600 sub, which definately gives me my bass. but there feels like a chasm of absent sound between the 2. hopefully the m80's will fill the gap. glad you like them, they are great speakers, especially at the price! _sam -- teanau teanau's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

The woofers, especially, will loosen up. I wouldn't even consider doing any critical listening until you have at least 50 hours of playing time on them. -- JJZolx Jim JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

JJZolx Wrote: Midrange drivers? I thought those were a two-way with a 1 tweeter and two 5 1/4 woofers. You are correct, but the woofers seem almost too small to be called woofers. I do like the high end -- seems more airy and less bright than my current speakers. If the woofers do loosen up and provide a litle more punch, I'll be pleased. I probably need to adjust the crossover on my sub, but it's behind the Christmas tree! It is really hard play lower notes as the size of the speaker gets smaller, altho Sunfire and other do it with servo controlled magic. They have really long throws. Big woofers have it a lot easier. -- Pat http://www.pfarrell.com/music/slimserver/slimsoftware.html ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

teanau: Looks very cool! One concern would be ventilation for the components. Will the rack be open at the back? You may want to provide more room above and between the components as well. I assume those are Axiom M80tis? Those are very power-hungry 4-ohm floorstanders. I would be concerned about providing them enough power with the XR70. The centre is a VP150, right? Same concern, although the VP150 isn't as demanding as the M80ti. You may want to either go with the M60tis and the VP100 or if you really must have digital amplification get a Rotel RMB-1077 (7X100W) with an RSP-1068 pre/pro. The 1077 may still not have enough power for the M80tis though, you may want to look at a 200W/ch amp like the RMB-1095, although there are few digital amps in the 200W/ch range. -- Mark Lanctot Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19023 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

I have a pair of NHT SuperOnes that are great. They were all the rage 10 years ago. Not sure if they even make them anymore. Also, you might want to check out Aperion (www.aperionaudio.com).
