Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter: No more bug fixes in firmware
For the casual visitor to this thread, here is the relevant quote from Sean Adams from the bug-vote link above: Sean Adams Wrote: People are still seeing those spurious overvoltage errors on transporter. It is understandably very disconcerting to them and they will think there must be something wrong either with their AC or with the TP hardware. The error is caused by spurious readings from an internal ADC which measures one of the internal DC power rails. I was never able to figure out exactly why it gets these spurious readings but I think it has something to do with how the ADC's control pins are multiplexed (shared) with some other on-board peripheral. I would suggest removing this failsafe feature entirely. I originally put it in there as a debugging feature, like an assert()... not because I thought that sustained overvoltages would actually be present on people's power supplies. In reality the feature does not provide any protection from common power surges. -- NewBuyer NewBuyer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7862 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78453 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Having spent the $$ on a Transporter and enjoying it almost every day I am likewise disappointed. However, I had already quit buying SB's because I also really enjoy using my SBC's as players (with 7.3) and since Logitech has no intention of making them work with later iterations of their software, I am staying put. I would love to try the Touch, but not enough to set up a second server to use it. I'm happy with my boxes right where I am and if I don't buy another it certainly doesn't cause me any pain. Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter: No more bug fixes in firmware
It has been posted elsewhere that the transporter is coming to the end of its life. It does however seem to be a bit rich not to continue to support a product that is still part of the current product line-up (and still advertised on the Logitech site). While it is not directly comparable, I have some old Naim Nait amplifiers that are over 25 years old that Naim are happy to service and repair. I guess this is one of the reasons that the old specialist HiFi manufacturers have such a following. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Naim and Linn are still able to continue to support the firmware (as opposed to the hardware) of their current generation of software intensive products in 25 years time. Probably not. -- Andy8421 Andy8421's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16846 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78453 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

The transporter was 2000 euro two years ago; it's very disappointing that for such an expensive piece of hardware support is just stopped. (BTW, the transporter remains a fantastic player.) Teus Agreed. One wonders why Logitech bothered to issue a survey re the Transporter a week or so back if they've no intention of supporting it. Least they could do is fix the bloody over voltage shit that happens when playing and switching between 24/96 tracks. -- audiomuze 'Cable break-in is real, and occurs between the ears of the listener - nowhere else (most certainly not in the cable).' I also get the impression that he's an honourable guy who would like to see this irritating bug fixed. It must be worth while Logitech paying Sean for a couple of days consultancy to sort out this particular issue. The goodwill it will generate would more than recoup the cost. (I say all this as a Transporter owner who has never actually experienced this problem, but I can understand how incredibly annoying it must be for those who do). -- cliveb Transporter - ATC SCM100A cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78453 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products. Personally, I think this sucks, and would never have happened (so soon) if Sean Dean were still in charge.
