[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] AIF outbound acknowledgements
Hi Friends, It's regarding outbound acknowledgements. I am trying to understand if I send some XML (let’s say COA outbound- send electronically) to external system (let’s say using file adapter), AIF framework will create XML with unique message id. I need the receive the acknowledgement for this message to ensure proper delivery. How-ever, if I develop new service to receive acknowledgement (new inbound service) from external system, how the AX AIF will be able to understand that this XML is related to what I sent? I can think of getting the same message id as request message id in acknowledgment but where these message ids are being stored in AX to correlate? It would be great if you can let me know the standard AX example that gives acknowledgment for outbound process so that I can look into it for better understanding. Thank you! Regards, HB

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Help - AIF
Hi Friends, I need your help to evaluate the best solution to integrate various external systems with Dynamics AX 2009 by using AIF functionality (BizTalk/File adaper/MSMQ). Can anyone please help to direct me to: (a) pros cons of using BizTalk v/s File adapter v/s MSMQ? (b) Are all of them able to handle fail over scenarios? We need to ensure no XML should be missed. (c) There should be a mechanism for acknowledgement timer for example, if acknowledgement is not received from external systems in 60 minutes, alert (email) should be thrown. (d) Performance benchmark. Can you please help me in this regard? Thanks a lot in advance. Best Regards, PS

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Master Planning Help
Hi Hemant, Thanks for you suggestion. It really helped, but the customer doesn't want Coverage planning by warehouse. In this case, Manual check box wouldn't work. Is there any other option? I explored ReqCalc class - newQueryInventTrans. In this method, data is fetched from InventTrans by Grouping of few fields. If I can place one more line of code to add sorting like: qBSTrans.addSortField(FieldNum(InventTrans,InventDimId)); Then inventTrans would always have InventDimId, and we can have a seperate table to store warehouses and can match warehouses and avoid those transactions to enter in ReqTrans table. In this way, we can ignore transaction of warehouses. But i am just wondering how add a sorting on InventDimId can affect the MP System? Can anybody suggest me please? Thanks for your help. Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Problem with the explosion feature at the sales line!!!!
Hi Harry, I also have some problem related to Master Planning where InventSumLogTTS table is the main culprit. We had a client with huge database, and they tried to run Master Planning using Principle as Regeneration. It took more than 8 hours for execution and at last it gives the error like Deletion of records from InventSumLogTTS table exhausted the memory. We analyzed the code and found that during Regeneration, we don't need the records in InventSumLogTTS table(as these are required for Incremental Run). So we created a truncate job to delete the records from InventSumLogTTS table before Regeneration Run. And now it took around 1 hour and it executed successfully. Now the problem is; if we are doing Incremental Run, it took more than 3 hours, which is not exceptable from client's point of view, if Regeneration is taking 1 hour, then Incremental Run should take less than that. But Incremental Run is using records from InventSumLogTTS table, we can't delete/truncate this table. The scenario to reproduce teh problem is: Create a sales order for an item without inventory on hand Run the explosion from the sales line The explosion form will show you a planned purchased order, this is correct. Firm the planned purchased order, receive the item and invoice the sales order. Create a new sales order for the same item (the item don't have inventory) Run the explosion from the sales line again The explosion form will show that the item has inventory onhand when the reality there isn't. If you check the net requirement thru the sales order you can see that axapta is showing two lines in on hand one with a positive quantity and other with neative. So, like axapta is seeing lines with on hand for this item is not calculating the requirement and is not plannig the purchase order. I know that Axapta in the explosion only take into account a few transaction for the item, but in this case it seems that is not settling the previous transaction and that is why the result from the explosion is wrong. Only running the Master planning for all the items in the regeneration mode fix the problem. Does any one have an idea of what is happening or if this is a bug? Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Problem with the explosion feature at the sales line!!!!
Hi Harry, Yes, I was referring 'Net Change'. We ran Regeneration for the whole system. And after one week of last Regeneration Run, we were using 'Net change' instead of 'Regeneration', because it make sense to run the master planning for the last one week. But during the one week period, records are created in InventSumLogTTS table very rapidly. So it took more than 3 hours which is not acceptable from clients' point of view. So just curious to know is there any way to improve the execution time of 'Net change' for this one week of records? Otherwise, we need to convince them to use Regeneration all the time as it is taking 1 hour of time frame, after using the clean job of InventSumLogTTS table. Thanks Regards, Harsh On 12/18/06, Harry Deshpande [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi What is incremental run? Are you referring to net change? Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: RecId Query
Hi Maverick, In Axapta 3.0, the recid field is of 32bits (i.e. 4 bytes). In Dynamics 4.0, there is an improvement for RecId. Now recid is of 64bits(i.e. 8 Bytes). So it is a great improvement in terms of number of recid in 4.0. Regards, Harsh On 11/29/06, joeinvcost [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Maverick, As I understand it, RecId (in 3.0) goes from 0 to 20, then switches sign and proceeds from -20 back toward zero. I also understand this changes in later versions such that each table gets its own 4 billion RecIds. Becasue we have to integrate Customers, Sales Orders, Fixed Assests, AR, AP through AIF, but only few predefined AIF classes exists. So we need to create our own customized classes based on predefined AIF classes for integration. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Query: Data Upgradation from Ax 3.0 to Dynamics Ax
Hi Friends, I got stuck with a problem and need your valuable suggestions. One of our clients is upgrading from Axapta 3.0(with SP2) to TAP Drop 3(Dynamics Ax 4.0). We have performed Code upgradation successfully. The next step is: Data Upgradation. As per the Aximpguide.chm(help book), two projects (provided in Tap Drop 3 DVD) needs to be imported. 1. For left justify all the fields in Database 2. In Ax 3.0 all recid's Trans Id's are of 32 bits, but in Dynamics Ax, these are of 64 bits. ** *Now the problem is in the second step. In UpgradeColumnList.xpo, When i open UpgradeColumnList form, it identifies all the tables their relavent fields that are based on RecId or TransId. But I can't understand how to upgrade the memory allocation of these fields to 64 bits from 32 bits.* Please share your experience and give me your suggestion what to do to solve this. Also let me know what are the other things that needs more consideration. Thank you in anticipation. -Harsh [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Sharing the knowledge on Axapta. Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] beginner
Hi Naushad, Christoph wrote a well organized way to start learning Ax. Here are few more suggestion, if you would be able to arrange this; 1. You can use Microsoft e-learning courses. These are paid, can ask yr company admin to arrange for the same. 2. There are four Developers guides(manuals) provided by Microsoft. These are really good. You can read it and then try to answer the questions at the end of each chapter. You know, there is no such book for Ax, but practise is more important. Try to understand what the issues and solutions are 5. look at some historical postings on the forums. 6. try to get a highlevel handle on the functional side of the application. 7. most importantly : if you don't understand something, try it again and again and again... Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Urgent
Hi Dhanashree, There are some2 types of Architecture available. 2 Tier: The2-tier architectureconsists of a database server that contains the business data, and a file server that contains application files and the client directly communicate with these two servers.Thats' whyrequires high-capability computers for the users( FAT Client)and a strong network as well. 3 Tier: Here AOS(Appication Object Server) works as mediator. The client communicates bia AOS. The business logics execute on AOS and the client is only used for user interaction. The difference between this installation and the two-tieris that with three-tier architecture, part of the application is executed on the client and another part on the AOS.All user interface-related processes are executed on the thin client computers operated by the users, and all business logic is executed on the AOS. In 3-tier architecture, you can have both the THIN and FAT clients. When using THIN client, the client communicates to AOS and the AOS communicates to DataBase Server. When using FAT client, the client communicates to AOS and DataBase Server directly. While doing installation, you don't need to specify the AOS setting with 2-tier architecture and in case of 3 tier, you need to specify, the path of the application and the AOS server name. Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Queries
ThanksVarden, Great, really a good knowledgable materail it is. Thanks Regards, Harsh Birla On 12/30/05, Varden Morris [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: What is the difference between Primary Index and Cluster Index? Where to use these two? There are two main types of indexes that we can have on a Microsoft SQL Server backend Database. These are normal and clustered indexes. Normal index can be viewed as the index in the back of a book. We first look in the index for a topic. After finding the topic in alphabetical order we also find the page number or address of the topic in the book. We then use the address to easily find the topic. If we did not have this index we would have to search sequentially through the book and the larger the book the greater the effort and time to either find a topic or realize that it does not exist. This is similar to a normal index in the database where we have the data stored in one file and the index stored in another file in the order specified. The database engine using the index will first look in the index file then retrieve the address of the record that is used to locate the record in the data file. For clustered index the records in the data file are sorted in the order of the index. We therefore do not have a separate index file from the data file as we have for normal index. You should also note that it is only possible to have one clustered index per table, since the records may only be sorted in one order at any time. You can have several normal indexes and one clustered index for each table. Clustered indexes are more efficient since the index is the actual data records and hence you do not need to seek in another file after finding the key. The Primary Index of a table is the main index that is used to uniquely identify records in it. No duplicated values are allowed in this index and all fields in the index are required. You can designate a clustered or normal index as the primary index. Since the primary index is the main index you should gain optimum performance by designating a clustered index for this purpose. Please note that indexes in general improve performance for search but not for inserts or update, since the overhead of organizing and or writing the index is involved. Can we define Global Methods in Axapta? If yes then how and where? Yes we can. Look at the Global class. Just write a static method in this class and you will be able to call is anywhere in the application. What is difference between Axapta Kernel and Axapta Application? In a 3-tier installation Axpata Application is stored on AOS, what about the kernel? I would say that the kernel is that part of the application that is not exposed to the developer for altering. The behavior of the kernel is encapsulated in the application and is automatically executed as originally intended. For example, when a record is saved the kernel automatically assigns a RECID to the RECID field. The AOS is a windows service that loads and executes the application in memory on the local computer where it is installed. The application may be placed on a drive on the computer running the AOS or on a network share. harshbirla_cse [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi All,I am having some queries.
