I do not have a birthdate for Manuel Baptist. What I do know is that their daughter Rosalina was 33 years old when she married my decendent Manuel Brazil, so in 1897 Rosalina was 33 years old so she was born in 1864, if Rosalina was born when Manuel was 30 years old then he would have been born in 1834, or if he was 20 when she was born he would have been born in 1844...I just don't know the exact date but I will work on it...Manuel Brazil is the brother of my great grandfather Antonio De Avila Brazil. The were from Calheta Sao Jorge and also Piedade, Pico (lot of island hopping) Yes, Marcio and I share Manuel De Valenca in our family tree. I can tell you a few things about Manuel Brazil, but it is Manuel Baptist that you are interested in? All I know is that my Manuel married the daughter of your Manuel. I have a baptismal record from CCA for Manuel Baptista born 10-1-1830...this is my greatgrandfathers older brotherfirst born child of Joao Jose Baptista and Agada Maria. Could he be yours? Have you looked on The CCA site for the marriage record or Rosalina's baptism? Do you know her date of birth? I've been wondering if there were any descendents of Jose and Agada's 3 living children as part of this group. The children were Manuel, Rosa b. 1833, and Antonio b.1835Jose was born in 1837 Agada died a few days after giving birth and Jose died at 10 months old. Joao Jose remarried, Maria Delfina and they went on to have more children.. I am a blood decendent of Manuel De Avila Brazil, therefore I am researching that line. All I know is that Manuel Brazil married Rosalina and she is the daughter of Manuel Baptist and Maria Perpetua, I don't know if this is the Baptists that you are researching, they were from Topo. I am only covering the fringes of Manuel Brazil because he is the brother of my great grand father Antonio De Avila Brazil and there are interesting stories about their arrival here in Siskiyou County CA. I know that Manuel Brazil (who may be married to your Manuel's daughter) Came to CA and mined for gold and went back to Sao Jorge and married, he had done very well mining for gold. He eventually went blind and stayed on the island not returning to CA. This is from a book that mentions the De Avila Brazil family..sorry its in Portuguese: Na Califórnia comprou um claim, e ali se entreteve a minar oiro até ao ano de 1888, em que voltou à terra, tendo obtido, por seu trabalho e economia, uns dez mil dólares. Em 1892 voltou à Califórnia, onde se demorou quatro anos, voltando a esta vila em 1896. Casou então nesta matriz em 11 de Janeiro de 1897 com a sr.a Ro-salina Perpétua Brasil, de 33 anos de idade, natural de Santo Antão do Topo, filha de Manuel Baptista e de Maria Perpétua. Morou na sua casa ao lado norte da praça; e depois à esquina, lado esquerdo da canada que leva ao forte de Santo Espírito; casa legada a sua esposa por sua tia Ana Perpétua, por largos anos merceeira nesta vila, e casada com Jose António da Silva Regalo. Manuel C. Brazil and Amelia lived in Gustine, CA - Merced county. They are buried in HillsFerry Cemetary, Newman, CA which is Stanislaus County. Santo Antao separated from Topo in 1890, Before that St. Antao was a place
belonging to Topo parish, after 1890 they became 2 parishes. St. Antao records
prior to 1890 are in Topo's books, therefore you will find Rosalina's birth
there

I tried to look Rosalina's baptismal record up in Sao Antao but the records
aren't on there for that far backthey start later than mostI wonder if
they'll ever post them or if they no longer exist.
That's an interesting story about mining and finding wealth and returning to
Sao Jorge.I wonder how many of those who left ever made it back?

[AZORES-Genealogy] Fonte do Bastardo, Terceira Marriages
Hi Listers I've just found a grandfather born in Fonte do Bastardo, Terceira in 1676. I'm looking for the marriage of his parents, Andre Cardozo Margarida Machada, but the filmed marriage records don't start until 1699 . Would they have gotten married in another parish or is the book of marriages for Fonte do Bastardo missing for the earlier years? Thanks to anyone searching in Terceira who knows the answer!
