If while any of you are searching the  baptism records for Santa Cruz ,
Lagoa ,Sao Miguel and you see the name Pedro de REGO [ Peter Rego] would you
please let me know what the record says?

I have been searching for the names of his parents to no avail.

I have the following from various records here in the states.
His draft Reg Card New Bedford, MA states he was b. 10 Jan 1874. His name on
this record Pedro do REGO.
 A conversation with the priest at Our lady of Mt Carmel, New Bedford, MA
confirms his birth as recorded on his son John's baptism record as  Santa
Cruz, Lagoa, Sao Miguel. His parents name not listed.
He emigrated in 1895 and was naturalized in 1904 according to the 1920
census New Bedford, MA.
The Naturalization records  on Ancestry.com shows he was naturalized 25 June
1905. He was living in Fall River at the time. It also confirms his date of
birth as 10 Jan 1874. It does not give his date of arrival.
His death record 21 Oct 1942 New Bedford, mA., states -names of father &
mother CANNOT be learned.

I have his marriage date and the information on all his children.

Unfortunately I DO NOT read Portuguese and current problems with my eyesight
makes it even more difficult to try to read the records now available from
Lagoa that are on line.
Should anyone run across this name I would very much appreciate knowing what
the record says.

ancestors in common, from Cedros, Faial are my 8th ggrandparents. 
Unfortunately, their birth dates & ancestral origins are unknown 
according to the notes that Faial researcher, Helder Oliveira, wrote.

*Nossa Senhora do Rosario*, in *Lajes*

*Maria Pimentel*,  died 15 May 1826 at 66 years old

  he married on 18 Dec 1786 in *N. S. do Rosario* to *Barbara Pimentel* ,
daughter of *Antonio Pimentel Serpa* and *Ursula Pimentel,* residents of *

*  Barbara* was born abt. 1759, and died 31 Jul 1799 at 40 years old

Thank you, one never knows what small bit of information will be useful to 
others. I often wonder why so little is shared on some of our posts. The 
information needed is out there in some other persons file, maybe. That is if 
we use the list to further our connections to assist this process in happening. 
I am just as bad at this as anyone else. I need to talk to the list more and

Thank you, one never knows what small bit of information will be useful to 
others. I often wonder why so little is shared on some of our posts. The 
information needed is out there in some other persons file, maybe. That is if 
we use the list to further our connections to assist this process in happening. 
I am just as bad at this as anyone else. I need to talk to the list more and 
not make it seem my posts are only to one person. Hope all is well.

Antonia de Bem married to Manuel Almeida both born in

Cedros, Faial are my 9th great grandparents.



Antonio Rodrigues de Bem born abt 1658 in Pedro Miguel,

Faial married Catarina Ornelas born in Graciosa both died in Cedros,
Faial.

Their son Joao Rodrigues de Bem born abt 1679 in Graciosa, married my
1st

cousin 8 times removed, Maria da Rosa born in Cedros, Faial.


Catarina Dias de Bem born abt 1659 in Pedro Miguel, Faial,

married Domingos Goncalves “o Velho” born Jan 1631 in Cedros, Faial. He
is my 1st

cousin 9 times removed.


Joao Antonio de Bem born in Santo Antonio, Pico,
 married

Paula Santo Antonio born in Santo Antonio, Pico. Their son Joaquim
Antonio Brum

Silveira born abt 1756 in Santo Antonio, Pico married Mariana
Bernarda

Bettencourt born Jul 21, 1745 in Castelo Branco, Faial. She is my
4th

cousin 5 times removed.


Pedro Rodrigues de Bem, son of Antonio Rodrigues de Bem and Catarina
Ornelas shown above,

also married a Catarina Ornelas and had a daughter who was Catarina
Silveira

she married Amaro Pereira Lacerda born abt 1625. He is my 1st cousin

10 times removed.


These lines are still in process work as is all of my work,

but my assumption is that my de Bem families all came from Pico.
