Yes Nancy, you're right, we are all cousins.
Your report doesn´t differ from my research.

My line comes from Duarte Pires da Rocha son of Pedro Afonso da Rocha
and Margarida Afonso, married to Ana Fernandes de Paiva (RR - Cap.º
148.º § 1.º, Nº 4).

Ana Fernandes de Paiva was d. of Fernão Afonso de Paiva and Beatriz
Pires Delgado.
(RR - CAPÍTULO 131.º - DA DESCENDÊNCIA DE FERNÃO AFONSO DE PAIVA, § 1.º).

Cheri,

Do you know of a software program or an easy to use database that can
display relatives info when someone types in a name? For example, you're at
a family reunion and have a laptop setup so people can enter their name.
After pressing enter it will show their info and their immediate relatives.
Plus they could display the info i different formats.

Thanks,

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Software/database

2012-10-29 Thread Cheri Mello
Paul G,

All genealogy software programs do this. It's probably labeled
"Relationship" or "Relationship Calculator" or something along those lines.

The person would have their line entered between the common ancestor and
themselves. Then you would run the relationship calculator between you and
that person. It would tell you if they are a 2nd cousin, twice removed or
whatnot.

All current genealogy software programs have extensive charting formats
that the user can pick from. Fan charts, box charts, pedigrees, and the
list goes on.
Hope this helps,

Hello cousins.

Manoel, I see how we're connected. The Camelo Pereira line is
interesting. This makes us probably 11th cousins, or something like that.
My most recent Pereiras lived in Sao Roque (Rosto de Cao).

Eliseu, I look forward to seeing your report. No rush.

Hermano, Pedro Esteves Rocha e Machado (or Machado da Rocha--I've seen it
spelled both ways) is my 17th great-grandfather, as well. He sounds like a
colorful and possibly dangerous character. Does this make us 18th
cousins? We're already 3rd cousins, if I recall correctly, on the Frias
line. I think our common ancestor on that side is Jose de Frias Bode.

Dano and Henrietta, we're definitely cousins. This is great. We should
all compare detailed reports. Do either of you have ancestors living in
Sao Roque in the 19th century?

Here in upstate New York we're expecting the storm, now a post-tropical
cyclone, to bring heavy rain and winds. The people on the coast have it a
lot worse. But things are tense right now, and these genealogical
discoveries are a good diversion..

Best wishes,
Nancy
