Cheri, Nancy Jean & Donald; Thank you for this information. I’ve been telling
my husband that we didn’t need a tour or tour guide but; he is the type that
likes everything planned out. Me, I’m the type that like to wing things.
(opposite attract, right?! LOL) I also mentioned to him that one can’t plan to
far in advance as taking a boat from island to island can be unpredictable due
to the weather conditions. I am right, aren’t I?

Ok, obviously, I’ve now got to get busy and do some internet searching. If
anyone has the name of a good taxi driver/guide that speaks good English on any
of the islands mentioned; Faial, Santa Maria, Sao Jorge or Flores or of a B&B
they particularly liked please feel free to share that info. with me. Please
send it directly to me so as not to fill this list with information others
aren’t interested in. aportugee @ yahoo.com (no spaces)

Hi Sam,

I agree with Don. Airbnb or HomeAway both have great houses in the Azores and
local drivers are easy to find. Lot's of taxi's are bilingual and know how to
show you the islands.

Come for a little visit to Pico!

Best to you,

Nancy Jean

Also try AirBnB to rent a house and use local drivers as tour guides.

The festas run from about May through around September or so. So any time

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Location in Brazil

Thank you Isabel, That makes sense and puts it closer to where her sister was
baptized. It just didn’t make sense that one sister was born in Rio de Janerio
area and the other in Sao Paulo area. The way they wrote the locations of the
Brazilian parishes is confusing in some of these records.

Rick,

The Freguesia do Senhor Bom Jesus do Riberão de Sant'Anna mentioned on the
marriage record is probably one of the parishes from the Resende municipality,
located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, not in the city of Rio de
Janeiro. We do have a Freguesia de Santa Anna in the city of Rio de Janeiro,
but I do not think it is the one mentioned on the record. You will find more
about about the Resendes region here:

If you scroll down, the blog author mention several record books and one of
them, number 70, is for Freguesia do Senhor Bom JEsus do Riberão de Sant'Anna.
