yes, it is from the Mormon's Family History Library Catalog. They filmed all the church records in the Azores. These church records are great...Parents and where they are from; grandparents and where they are from...the newer records give the greats and where they are from. These census records were copied from the churches which were required to send copies to the gov't. I don't know if later records provided as much info as the earlier records. I can't remember where I got my church records...I think at the Mormon Library. i never had to write for records. Linda: Santa Luzia...Feteiras...S. Miguel RE: Maria b Oct 1894 ...child of Antonio Ferreira and Isabel de Jesus.. The last dates for Feteiras birth records on film are the Civil Records 1853-1882. Therefore, unless you make a trip to S. Miguel you will have to write for the record. Others on the list can give you information as where to write for the record and also the cost. Tony I am looking for my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather Lenor de Jesus and Antonio Ferreira. I know they left Ponta Delgada on February 5th 1895 destination Hawaii. They were married in 1893, had a child Maria born in October 1894. Passport record identifies his parents as Manuel Ferreira and Jacintha Duarto of Feteiras. I am looking for information prior to their leaving the Azores. Family stories say that Lenor was in an orphanage and later taken back by her aunt (name at this point unknown). Well, I , too, thought I was descended from Vand der Hagen and MargaritaI love history and I like to write lots of notes with my genealogy information. It didn't take me long to discover that Guill had made an error. I can't understand it. Well, the man was a historian, not a genealogist. I've been told that there are other errors in his genealogy. I was on Medieval Genealogy List and someone asked about Van der Hagen being a son of John the Fearless, and it was ridiculed.Think, too, how could such a nobleman come to live in the Azores...a man used to living a rich life. and to think a woman such as Margarida, raised as a princess could come to live in the Azores. Does anyone know of a Guest House, or a small residential hotel in Vila da Povoacao? I've searched the internet and can't anything...the only hotel is the new hotel on the beach, Hotel do Mar. And this hotel does not interest me. I will be staying in Nordeste for 3 days and also want something in Povoacao. It is such a lovely village. [AZORES-Genealogy] Azores and Madeira Tour
Tour to the Azores and Madeira. Ginny and Al Tours are giving their last tour this June/July.It is two weeks in the Azores and because some have requested a tour to Madeira there will be an extended week to Madeira for those who are interested. They arrive in Terceira for the Sanjoaninas festival and will have 3 nights there for the festivities. They visit 4 island on tour and there is a choice of a 5 th island San Jorge or Flores. I've known some who took the tour to skip some of the islands and concentrate on two or three. Ginny and Al are willing to agree to your choices. The tour to the Azores is June 22 to July 6th. One flies from Oakland to Terceira...Apparently there are some that fly from Boston to Terceira.
