RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Flanders filming/interviews
This may be too far back to be of interest to you. In my tree I have Guinilda de Flanders as the daughter of Baldwin de Flanders I and Judith on pages 518, 571x2 518, and 583 -518 in my family tree book created by Joao Ventura. She appears in my chart 4 times. She was born about 865 and died about 906 and was the wife of Wifredo Borrel I. Her parents were married in France on 12/13/862. I have Baldwin I being born abt 835 and died about 879. These lines go through Spain’s royal lines I have other that connects to Flanders but these come through English royal lines. I have Matilda of England on Page 491 in my book. She is the granddaughter of Matilda of Flanders (1031-1083), wife of William I of England (aka William the Conqueror), daughter of Baldwin V of Flanders and Adele of France. Let me know if this was of any help to you. Any additional or more accurate information would be appreciated. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Flanders filming/interviews
Manita, This a great undertaking! Wow, I think one of the main questions I would as would be, is there any written documention of the families that settled in the Azores from Flanders? We do know the names of many of the founding people but what is the history on them in Flanders? Why did they leave, was it economic, religious, the promise of their own land (younger sons etc.)? I'm sure you've thought of all of these and more! Good luck.
