[AZORES-Genealogy] Help with Baptism record for Jose son of Jose Coelho Machado and Isabel de Jesus.
Please help me with this Baptism record. Top Left hand side of the page, note the record starts on the previous page but most of the information is on this link. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1860-1869/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1860-1869_item1/P205.htm The information in this records matches part of my tree but then does not. This part of the family changed their names a lot and named their children accordingly. Everything piece of information including the ones in the margin may help me connect to cousins. My ability to read the records is limited and this record is just to important to make a mistake. Thanks for any help you can provide. Also if anyone has additional information on this couple. I believe I may need to place an additional generation in this part of the tree in which cousins are connecting to me. I believe many of us have been blending several generations of this family line. I thought I had it worked out. Several years ago, after collect several children’s records, I connected Joao Ventura and he told him that there was a Jose Coelho Berbereia de Melo and Isabel da Conceicao (she changes her name to Isabel de Jesus over time.). They are my 3rd Great grandparents. Their son Jose (my Great Uncle) uses several different names and he too marries Isabel de Jesus. Now what I’m thinking is I have blended my Great Uncle’s information with his son’s information. If so my Great Uncle’s son also married a lady named Isabel de Jesus. I believe the baptism record to be either the child of my Great Uncle or his son. Of what I can read, this is a note stating that the record of Marianna Amalia daughter of José da Costa and Maria Joaquina is in the book of 1875 page 56, but she was really baptized in 1935. I can't understand the justification it is given for that to have happened. The notes below the baptism of your Maria is for someone else named Marianna Amalia, whose baptism should have been there but wasn't found. So it's just a note about it and reference to the other date and book in 1875 is where the justification is recorded. I think it says to go look at the baptisms in the year 1875 and go to page 56. The "fls" is like the English pp. for pages. fls = folhas which means pages. Maybe a native speaker can translate the rest. Fred, What it means is that she was probably abandoned as a baby. Left on the Church doorstep or the "Roda" the lazy-susan wheel at the church or where the Nuns lived. Fred, the reason you can't read any parent names is because she is a "pai nao sabidos" parents unknown ( it does say pay/pai which I would take it to mean father unknown but there is no mother listed either). She was, however, baptised in Sao Sebastiao in Ponta Delgado. Maria do Carmo's parents are unknown she was baptized in Sao Sebastiao, Ponta Delgada. Ignacio de Arruda was baptized in NS Apresentacao in Capelas. The date of the marriage is 12 Mar 1761.
