Trying to find out what I believe is an occupation for my great great great grandfather, Manoel Botelho, second page third line down, I believe it says camponer, componer? It's a good thing that you asked the question. Oftentimes our misunderstanding keeps us stuck or has us going down the wrong path. We think our relatives gave us the wrong information when it's us who misunderstood them. I recall someone in a past email said that a family member was called Sheik which was pointed out by Kathie Baker that it was more than likely Chico. That kind of thing. I'm translating a 1847 marriage record from San Pedro, Vila Franca do Campo. There is one word that really has me stumped. It appears to be Sabridita and occurs before the word frequesia. I've looked at parish lists, and don't see anything like this on San Miguel.
