The error above appears to be a timeout problem. I will take a look at
this later. In the meantime you may want to do a google search with
the following terms:

 bacula MTIOCGET

I have seen a few discussions about MTIOCGET errors on this list before.

Does this error happen when loading a new tape? If so edit the
mtx-changer script and add some delay where the comments suggest that.

Re: [Bacula-users] Problem with storage (LTO-2)

2008-02-01 Thread Tyekanyk
this error happen when any tape is loaded, not always, but in some cases
with no reason it happens, when I change the daily tapes for example...

im running bacula 2.0.3 on a debian sarge... I do not have an autochanger
and I have 3 pools of tapes (daily, weekly, monthly with 4, 4, and 2
respectively).
the server that controls storage is a debian sarge, and where the director
runs is an etch...
this is the complete output of the bconsole error:

01-feb 02:02 adm-dir: Start Backup JobId 633, Job=
adm-mysql-diario.2008-02-01_02.00.00
01-feb 02:02 adm-sd: Volume "vi" previously written, moving to end of data.
01-feb 02:04 adm-sd: adm-mysql-diario.2008-02-01_02.00.00 Error: Unable to
position to end of data on device "LTO" (/dev/nst0): ERR=dev.c:931 ioctl
MTIOCGET error on "LTO" (/dev/nst0). ERR=Input/output error.

01-feb 02:04 adm-sd: Marking Volume "vi" in Error in Catalog.

this is no happening always, sometimes I load the tape and the next day at
2am the backup begins without any problems...
ask for any more information if needed.

Sorry for my english, im in argentina

Sorry forgot to mention this solution is only for autochangers. If you
do not have an autochanger please describe your system in detail and
post more of the error message.

[Bacula-users] Problem with storage (LTO-2)

2008-02-01 Thread Tyekanyk
Hi all, im currently having some issues with my HP Ultrium LTO-2... It is
connected via scsi on an HP server too
Sometimes I get this error in bconsole:

01-feb 02:04 adm-sd:
adm-mysql-diario.2008-02-01_02.00.00 Error: Unable to position to end of
data on device "LTO" (/dev/nst0): ERR=dev.c:931 ioctl MTIOCGET error on
"LTO" (/dev/nst0). ERR=Input/output error.

This error is not always there, only thing I have to do to start backups is
to umount and remount the device and that's it (previously updating the
volume parameters, since it is marked as error)
As you imagine doing this delays the backups nearly 6 hours (from the
schedule time, till I get here).
If some kind soul can help me will be really apreciatted.
Thank you so much
