Which Bareos version do you use on which platform and what browser did

Re: [bareos-users] Re: webui and restore files

2021-02-25 Thread Frank Bergkemper

Hello Sergey,

it's a bug which will be fixed in the upcoming maintenance release.

See:
https://github.com/bareos/bareos/commit/7aed0b065d53baf8a1ea08f0d8dbed580e6b1b08

Adapt the change above by yourself or as a workaround you can trigger
the bvfs cache update in bconsole frequently by the .bvfs_update command
which should fix the problem.

Best regards
Frank

Re: [bareos-users] baros turns to drive 65535 and doesn't turn to drive 0

2020-04-02 Thread Frank Bergkemper

Thanks a lot, that was the right hint.

02-Apr 14:29 bareos-sd JobId 14: 3304 Issuing autochanger "load slot 1,
drive 65535" command.
02-Apr 14:29 bareos-sd JobId 14: Fatal error: 3992 Bad autochanger "load
slot 1, drive 65535": ERR=Child exited with code 1.

For some reason the default value of the DriveIndex is not applied and
set to 0, instead it has the maximum value.

Going to investigate further next to find the root cause here.

However, if you set the DriveIndex explicitly in your Device Resource
it works fine.

02-Apr 14:32 bareos-sd JobId 15: 3304 Issuing autochanger "load slot 1,
drive 0" command.
02-Apr 14:32 bareos-sd JobId 15: 3305 Autochanger "load slot 1, drive
0", status is OK.

As a workaround set the DriveIndex in your Device Resource explicitly
until we fixed this.

# default:0, only required if the autoloader have multiple drives.
DriveIndex = 0

Thanks & regards,
Frank

Hi Bruce,

how does your profile resource look like, which is used by the console
you login with into webui, did you set a specific "Job ACL" where a
restore job might be missing?

Like ...

#
# bareos-webui webui-admin profile resource
#
Profile {
  Name = "webui-admin"
CommandACL = !.bvfs_clear_cache, !.exit, !.sql, !configure, !create,
!delete, !purge, !prune, !sqlquery, !umount, !unmount, *all*
  Job ACL = backup-bareos-fd  # <= Check here!
  Schedule ACL = *all*
  Catalog ACL = *all*
  Pool ACL = *all*
  Storage ACL = *all*
  Client ACL = *all*
  FileSet ACL = *all*
  Where ACL = *all*
}

Your Job ACL must allow access to *all* jobs or specific jobs and has to
include a restore job if you want to allow restores via that profile.

For example ...

Job ACL = *all*

or

Job ACL = backup-bareos-fd, RestoreFiles

You may want to exclude the message type audit from e.g. console and mail.

Like ...

Messages {
   [...]
   mail = root@localhost = all, !skipped, !audit
   console = all, !skipped, !audit
   [...]
}

You are mixing versions here, please use 16.2.x Bareos daemons with
16.2.x Bareos webui or 18.2.x daemons with 18.2.x webui.

Bareos WebUI compatibility between versions is not guaranteed in every
case.

Make sure to install the correct versions after adding
download.bareos.com or download.bareos.org repository as Debian itself
ships with an older Bareos version.

Default PHP version in CentOS 7 is 5.4. Unfortunately
STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLSv1_2_CLIENT was introduced with PHP 5.6.

I'm pretty sure this is why you encounter the connection reset by peer
problem while having TLS enabled.

We need to take care here that calling stream_socket_enable_crypto
method works with PHP versions prior 5.6.0 as well.

I created a but report and a PR on GitHub which fixes the problem, see
https://bugs.bareos.org/view.php?id=1045 and
https://github.com/bareos/bareos/pull/144.

The patch is also attached to this mail in case you want to apply it
yourself.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

Cheers
Frank

Currently it's only possible by sqlquery command in bconsole to add one
comment, but webui would not display it.

[root@kvm-2 ~]# bconsole

Terminate query mode with a blank line.
Enter SQL query: UPDATE job SET comment = 'network issue' WHERE jobid =

Enter SQL query: SELECT jobid,jobstatus,comment FROM job WHERE jobid = '26';

Hello Rick,

1.

Keep the following in mind.

https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/13/admin_manual/maintenance/backup.html

2.

Create an according fileset to the mentioned above.

3.

Create a job resource which makes use of the fileset created in step 2
and use the 'run before job' and 'run after job' directives for handling
the maintenance mode and your database dump.

There is a fix already in the pipeline which will be available with

Unfortunately, limiting the query 0047_bvfs_select properly was overseen

As the error messages states, you can not replace/override such files
while being in use. So either restore to a different location, kill such
processes making use of the files and copy over the files manually or
kill any application/service making use of them and restore to the
original location afterwards.

Re: [bareos-users] Restore single file via WebUI

2018-02-26 Thread Frank Bergkemper

Hi guys,

we are aware of the problem and currently investigating.

So far it looks like the BVFS API command ".bvfs_restore" which the
WebUI makes use of is not handled properly by the director daemon.

For example, if you execute ".bvfs_restore jobid=1 fileid=5
path=b2000100" you should normally end up with a temporarily table
(b2000100) which contains just one row, but you don't.

Instead, sometimes multiple files are inserted into the temporarily
table and not just the single one which was selected to be restored.
So the problem is somewhere located around the BVFS API.

We feel sorry for any inconveniences this might cause at yours and hope
to fix this as soon as possible.

Cheers
Frank

have you guys adapted the new sub directory configuration structure

Re: [bareos-users] ERROR RESTORE WEBGUI

2017-08-28 Thread Frank Bergkemper
Hello,

let me clarify a bit how the restore module in webui basically works.

First it looks which job is selected and retrieves the needed JobIds
from the DIRD via BVFS API to be able to do a most recent full restore.

.bvfs_get_jobids jobid=

To be able to present the file tree with all recent files, we then need
to first build up the BVFS Cache via .bvfs_update command if it hasn't
been done before by handing over such jobids retrieved before.

.bvfs_update jobid=1,2,3,4,5

This could take up quite some time depending on the job sizes for the
first time.

The wheel in webui restore module keeps spinning until cache build up is
done or in worst case the background ajax call could timeout if the
build up takes too long.

The webui does not retrieve the tree in a whole, it does lazy loading,
meaning getting each node of the tree by its own via .bvfs_lsdirs and
.bvfs_lsfiles command when the nodes are expanded by a user interaction.

The bootle neck is the BVFS Cache build up, or to be more specific your
database. Webui just sends the command to build the cache and keeps
waiting for a result from the DIRD/Catalog.

By the way, we recommend PostgreSQL which has a better performance
compared to MySQL/MariaDB as you might already know.

So, what I can think of is building the cache prior calling webui
restore module for example.

a) Using the Run After Job directive to call the .bvfs_update
jobid= after each of your jobs, but this might cause unwanted
workload on your database at that specific point in time.

b) Create a Maintenance Job which runs frequently at times where nothing
else happens to build up the BVFS Cache with all recent Job Ids since
its last run or something like that.

A more detailed description about how the bvfs api works can be found here.

http://doc.bareos.org/master/html/bareos-developer-guide.html#sec:bvfs

Cheers
Frank

Re: [bareos-users] Backupjob von der webui Kommandozeile starten

2017-08-11 Thread Frank Bergkemper
Hello Daniel,

first of all, please keep the discussion on this mailinglist in english
so everybody can follow.

Well, the console header clearly states ...

bconsole (batch-mode), please handle with care.
All commands have to be a one liner, dialogs are not working.

... meaning as said before, non-interactive.

Currently there are no plans to extend the console in webui to be
interactive, sorry.

But the upcoming bareos-webui 17.2 release will have a form, where you
can modify jobs to your needs before run, probably an option for your users.

If you are interested, have a look at the master branch, experimental
nightly build, it's already in.

Cheers
Frank

Hi Jon,

of course, there are plans to support using TLS between webui and the
director. The code base is already in but not tested yet, if it is
working properly.

Unfortunately, we do have limited resources and it is not quite sure,
when testing and final adjustments will happen regarding that topic,
maybe it may happen until the 17.2 release, but no promises.

If that feature is critical to you, we could put it on the co-funding
development list, which will lead to a higher priority where resources
are spend on, when the funding goal is reached.

http://www.bareos.com/en/co-funding.html

Please let us know, when you are interested in co-funding.

Also, contributions are pretty welcome as well.

Frank

It looks like a bug in determining windows client versions.

Please open a bug report here: https://bugs.bareos.org/my_view_page.php

Other than that, keep in mind that self compiled clients won't have the
required uname format which is set by our build system.

Meaning, the update check is only working properly with packages from
our official download servers, download.bareos.org or download.bareos.com .

Hi Stephan,

the uname strings had to follow a special format to make this feature
work, which was adjusted more or less recently with the major release of
16.2 in places where it wasn't already.

Some older client versions where the uname strings is not following the
convention can not clearly be determined, as a result those are labeled
grey in the client listing.

*llist clients

  clientid: 1
  name: bareos-fd
 uname: 17.2.1 (01Apr17) x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu,redhat,Fedora
release 25 (Twenty Five),Fedora_25,x86_64
 autoprune: 0
 fileretention: 5,184,000
  jobretention: 15,552,000

It's also possible you might have found a bug and the client uname
string is not parsed and/or compared to the remote release list correctly.

Can you please give us the uname strings of your windows clients for
verification, see the command above?

Frank

As Jörg was a bit faster than me in responding, here is a quick
additional note.

You can also add REMI's RPM Repository
(http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/6/) on CentOS 6 to install a
newer PHP version and install bareos-webui 16.2 from source
(https://github.com/bareos/bareos-webui/releases) for example.

https://github.com/bareos/bareos-webui/blob/master/doc/README-INSTALLATION.md

It's not related to your profile configuration, Joe.

Only Backup-, Admin-, Archive-, Copy-, Migration- and AI-Jobs are
currently listed.

I'm going to add Verify-Jobs as well to the listing.

I guess, the patch will be available pretty soon in the upcoming 16.2.5
maintainence release.

Hi Emerson,

it's a known issue, which has already been fixed in the master and 16.2
branch and will be available in the next upcoming maintenance release
16.2.5.

See: http://bugs.bareos.org/view.php?id=736

As a workaround remove the bareos session cookie from your browser and
login again. Sorry for the inconveniences.

Re: [bareos-users] Search for files in backup from UI

2017-01-09 Thread Frank Bergkemper

The fastest way in bconsole would be something like following:

*restore

First you select one or more JobIds that contain files
to be restored. You will be presented several methods
of specifying the JobIds. Then you will be allowed to
select which files from those JobIds are to be restored.

To select the JobIds, you have the following choices:
1: List last 20 Jobs run
2: List Jobs where a given File is saved
3: Enter list of comma separated JobIds to select
 4: Enter SQL list command
5: Select the most recent backup for a client
6: Select backup for a client before a specified time
7: Enter a list of files to restore
8: Enter a list of files to restore before a specified time
9: Find the JobIds of the most recent backup for a client
10: Find the JobIds for a backup for a client before a specified time
11: Enter a list of directories to restore for found JobIds
12: Select full restore to a specified Job date
13: Cancel
Select item: (1-13): 7
Defined Clients:
 1: amy-fd
 2: sheldon-fd
Select the Client (1-2): 1
Enter file names with paths, or < to enter a filename
containing a list of file names with paths, and terminate
them with a blank line.
Enter full filename:

This is probably what you are looking for.

Hi Matthieu,

But we already have something like that in mind as well.

Just disallow .bvfs_clear_cache by negation. Every other .bvfs command
is needed. By using !.bvfs_.* in your command acl every .bvfs command is
forbidden.

Do it like ...

CommandACL = !.bvfs_clear_cache, ...

I hope that helps.

usage of multiple catalogs with bareos-webui has been introduced
recently with version 16.2, version 15.2 does not support it.

Hi Kenny,

with the new config structure, which recently got introduced in 16.2,
where configuration resources are split into subdirectories, you no
longer have to include your config files explictly.

Just put your various configuration files into the subdirectoy they
belong to. The Director will read them automagically.

If not already done you propably want to have a look at the
documentation regarding the new configuration scheme.

See:

Hi Phil,

substring matching in ACLs changed slightly since 16.2, so if you use
the old profile resource from 15.2 which webui came with you have to
change .bvfs_* into .bvfs_.* in your Command ACL to have a proper regex.

Hi Jochen,

great to hear you enjoyed OSBConf very much.

Did you reload your configuration after installing webui and adding a
new console by executing the reload command in bconsole?

I think you simply may have forgotten to reload you configuration or
restarting you director.

Users are not stored in database. But you can check which consoles for
users are currently configured by executing the ".console" command in
bconsole.

Frank

Are you able to browse your filetree by .bvfs_* comands, as described in
the comments of the bugreport I previously refered to?

See 3rd comment: http://bugs.bareos.org/view.php?id=570

Additional information on how to use the bvfs api can be found in the
developers guide.

Can you please verify if

Hi,

multilingual support is not fully implemented yet but we are planning to
get it done near future and some of the first steps are already done.

When it's finished there will be a manual which will teach you on how to
contribute in translations.

What language(s) are you willing to translate?

It looks like a misconfiguration, as your configured director seems not

Please verify the diraddress and dirport in your directors.ini.

more details on your setup and configuration if possible.

Hi Sven,

according to your description above and the authentication error you
got, it seems you haven't configured the needed restricted console properly.

The credentials you have to provide at login to authenticate aren't
those of the database user you created. You have to use name (username)
and password of the restricted console you defined in
/etc/bareos/bareos-dir.d/bareos-webui.conf.

Please see step two of the installation manual,
https://github.com/bareos/bareos-webui/blob/master/doc/INSTALL.md .

Regards,
Frank

 Hi all,
is it possilbe to disable the bareos-webui login page and make it auto

I'd like to put the webui behind a reserved web area handled by apache LDAP
 authentication.

 Thx to all.

Currently, there is no such mechanism. But if you like, please make a
feature request via Mantis - http://bugs.bareos.org .

 Hi Guys,

I successfully got bareos-webui working in Centos 7.

Make sure you have epel installed:

 yum install epel-release

I used the contrib repo from RHEL 7 as there was no Centos 7 contrib Repo
 yet.

Also you need to edit /etc/httpd/conf.d/bareos-webui.conf and update the
Allow From syntax to the new apache 2.4 syntax like below

 # Deny from all
 # Allow from localhost
 #   Allow from ::1
 Require all granted

 Hello Ashley.
I confirm that bareos-webui did install in Centos 7 with epel-release.

Initially it presented a Forbidden You don't have permission to access
 /bareos-webui/statistics/ on this server
It only worked after I inserted the Require all granted line as you
 instructed.

It also presented connection failure to postgresql due to a SELinux
 restriction.
The solution as suggested by SELinux alert is to set a SELinux boolean:
 sudo setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect 1
 sudo setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect_db 1

 Frank Bergkemper:
May I kindly suggest that you update your installation information on
github.com (INSTALL.md file) to include these instructions?
While there you could also include the information that on RedHat, the
bareos-webui apache configuration file should be in /etc/httpd/conf.d
 instead of /etc/apache2/conf.d

 Hi Hilario,

SELinux stuff excluded, mostly done with the new release, I guess.

Steps to do, if SELinux is enabled, will be added to the documentation
after some testing with latest changes.

If you already have done that or would like to, you are welcome to
 contribute something.

 Frank,
I will continue to test the bareos-webui and will report any SELinux issues
 or solution I may have.
I will indeed install it with SELinux enforcing because it is the correct and
sensible way to do it. As soon as we figure-out all the settings, than the
rpm install scriptlet should be updated to fix it. Also the install docs must
have a section dedicated to SELinux and how to manually set it.
 All the Best,

 Hilário

Hi Hilario,

I've already pushed a commit with an updated INSTALL.md including
SELinux configuration. By setting these two booleans, I was able to get
bareos-webui running on a CentOS 7 box with SELinux enabled.

# Allow HTTPD scripts and modules to connect to the network
setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect on

# Allow HTTPD to connect to a remote database
setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect_db on

See:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Security-Enhanced_Linux/sect-Security-Enhanced_Linux-Booleans-Configuring_Booleans.html

Re: [bareos-users] webacula, bareos-webui and bacula-web install errors

I tried to install the bareos contrib applications and have found the
 following problems:

 1) yum reports: bareos-webui-0.1.git.1418833784-42.2.fc18.noarch (contrib)
Requires: php-ZendFramework2 = 2.2.0 and fails

Sorry, we have only tested up from Fedora 19 and it seems Fedora 18 does
not ship with Zend Framework 2.

I feel sorry, but as Fedora 18 is pretty old now, we are going to
disable the build, so there won't be any updates or Zend Framework 2
packages from our site.

I would recommend upgrading your distribution = Fedora 20 if you
would like to use bareos-webui.

 2) webacula.noarch 0:5.5.2.2.git.1420467742-34.1.fc18
bacula-web.noarch 0:5.2.13.1-4.3.fc18
bareos-webui-0.1.git.1418833784-42.2.fc18.noarch

My bareos system is PostgreSQL based, shouldn't they use postgres?
For all three systems, yum tried to install php-mysql, is that correct?

Yes, it is correct as php5-mysql is a dependency by all of them, e.g. it
delivers php5-pdo-mysql for the php5-pdo extension.

Frank
