That key combination is the standard Finder shortcut for opening a file and
closing the current window :]

(Same as option double-click)

Yes, I saw that (because of the time difference I was still asleep at the time
:)

Services are a good solution, especially since you can create your own with
Automator. But as you saw, there is only a limited number of shortcuts that you
can use...

Feel free to do so.

Thank you for this suggestion and for the detailed instructions.

I already solved this by using a keyboard shortcut with the "Open File in
BBEdit" service, as Roland Küffner suggested, but I may use your solution for a
similar problem I have with a different application (opening some PDFs in
Preview instead of Acrobat).

Thank you for the tip -- I appreciate your help.

In Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services > Open File in BBEdit (macOS 10.13.6), the
box for that item was already checked and I created the shortcut
Command-Option-O.

When I highlight an .htm file and use the shortcut, though, the Finder window
where the file is located closes and the file opens in Safari, not BBEdit.

Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Easy way to open .html files in BBEdit vs. browser?

2018-10-22 Thread David Brostoff
Usually I want .html files to open in a web browser, but often I want them to
open in BBEdit.

Dragging files to the BBEdit icon in the Dock or using File > Open can get
tedious though.

Is there a way to make this easier, preferably via a keyboard shortcut?

Thank you,

David

BINGO!

That [*] did it. Of course. Obvious in retrospect.

Apart from being a breach of netiquette, threadwhacking buries

It also confuses readers who are using the Google Groups web

Shouldn't you have a line that contains
[*]

before the trim_trailing_whitespace line? It seems so from the example on
the Editorconfig homepage.

Re: Any tricks to set the non-default value of "Strip trailing whitespace" for an individual file?

2018-10-22 Thread Oliver Boermans
BBEdit has support for https://editorconfig.org/ which allows this and
other settings to be customised per directory or based on file name.
Has been a while since I read the appropriate portion of the BBEdit User
Manual (Find it in the help menu, recommended!), but it may be necessary to
be working in BBEdit project for this to work.

Hope this gets you on the path.
Cheers Ollie
