It's too bad that someone had to add all of the chain letter stuff at the
bottom. It is, however, a true story. It was published years ago in a major
publication of my church, of which this man is a member.

Hi Chris.

I amWAY behind on e-mail, and just now got to this. Unfortunately,
some of a learn a little too late, eh?!?

I plan on doing all I can to get out of the 'system' when my children are
grown, but I feel the risk right now in losing them should I do it now would be
too great. I am, however, not entering any of my children born in the future
into the system. My last child was born at home unassisted, and does not have a
birth certificate, SSN etc, and it will remain this way unless she should decide
to volunteer for these things in her future on her own. I wish I had known more
earlier to protect my other children, butI am doing the best I can now
with the information I have learned.

On the good newsfront, I got a letter from CPS yesterday saying
that"based on the information gathered from the assesment, we have arrived
at the consensus that your family does not need services at this time"
While I am VERY leery about some of the wording in this statement, I am
relieved that the case is closed on thisparticular issue. I will be sure
and follow my instincts a little better from now on, and we will stay as far
from the 'system' as we possibly can. It was whenI made the mistake of
panicking and taking my child to the emergency room that I placed us on the
system radar, a mistake which I do not intend to make in the future.

  Jennifer,
  My heart goes
out to you and to all others in this situation. It is truly insane that
government can just walk in and take your children away if they want to. There
is a good but hidden reason why the state has the authority to do this to you
  and your kids.

  The issue
  has to do with sovereignty.Here
is what Burney Brushears Author of "Strategic Withdrawal" has to say about the
  marriage license contract:

"In applying for a marriage license, you
are doing exactly the same thing as two slaves who approach the plantation
owner and request permission to mate. Also, like slaves, any offspring would
be born as slaves and would be the property of the same plantation owner...By
signing an application for a marriage license, you have made the government a
partner and co-owner of everything produced by the marriage, including the
  offspring".

The jist of the issue is that we have
allowed government to take away our freedoms and rights just by signing our
name. By our own hand the state is given permission to regulate us. The state
then has authority to mandate vaccinations for our children and mandate that
our kids be educated ingovernment (public) schools.

  ASocial Security number
(SSN),isa co-signerI.D. to thenational debt. Ifyou have a drivers license, thenyou have willingly given upyour constitutional right to freepassage. The drivers license contract
converted that right into a taxable privilege so that we now have no right to
travel under any conditions except by those imposed by the licenser the
government. The IRS has the authority to lootbank accounts,
lienproperty and garnishwages without a court order to authorize
  it because
when we went to the bank to open an account using a SSN we had
to sign a bank signature card another legal contract. When we signed the
bankcard we consented to abide by the rules of the bank The rules of the bank state that we are
obligated to abide by the administrative rules of the department of the
Treasury. IRS agents will file these signature card contracts as exhibits at
a trial and the judge will enforce this voluntary contract. A person is
presumed to understand and concur with that which bears his signature!

  More from
  Burney:
  "In
title 28 USC 3002(15) the term "United States" includes any federal
corporation, federal agency, or instrumentality of the United States. The
agency that exercises jurisdiction under the Buck Act is the United States, by
and through the Secretary of the Treasury, who is a wholly-owned,
bought-and-paid-for, stooge for the International Monetary
  Fund."

Me too Bonnie. My 5 yr old is autistic due to vaccination.

We totaly don't 'do' the doctor thing, but this last week I thought my
child had appendicitis (sp?), so I took her to the hospital to find out. Turned
out she had a kidney infection. They were notgoing to let us leave without
seeingher take some antibiotics first. As this was happening, I was
praying, askinghow the heck we could get out of this one. Ireally
didn't think we could. Well, as soon asshe tasted the antibiotic, she
threw up BIG-TIME! As the nurse stepped out of the room to get something to
clean it up, I dumped the rest down the sink :-)
We went to the health food store the next morning and got some great herbal
tea that has a few natural antibiotics in it, as well as some good tasting
chewable tablets that were madefrom cranberries. The infection is almost
completely gone now, without antibiotics (of course!)

Anyway, CPS just showed about 10 minutes ago, because the hospital turned
us in for not vaccinating! My heart is still in my throat!!! She said she just
needed to make sure it wasn't a money issue or anything like that. She says
we're ok, but I have had friends who have had their children taken away because
of this issue, so I am having a bit if a hard time calming down at the moment.
Prayers, etc. would be MUCH appreciated from anyone here. On top of it all, when
she came, I was outside playing with my kids. So she of course asked why they
weren't in school. Well, we homeschool, which is fine, but we are not
registered, as I don't believe in it. I am SO hoping this doesn't lead to
anything.

AGH!

2002-02-10 Thread Jennifer Rochester

I really appreciate everyone who is trying to help me, both on list and
off. It really means a lot to me.

First of all, I thought I'd share a little more about why we are doing
this. I know I probably come across as a little too idealistic, but I'm really
not. I KNOW that we have a hard road ahead of us, but it's the road we
want.
I don't share this with too many people, because most already think I'm
crazy enough as it is, but most here seem to be just as crazy as myself ;-), so
what's the harm, eh?

I had run across the Sally Fallon info, and we were getting frustrated
about not being able to find or afford a lot of the foods we needed, but we
still had never considered having a farm of our own. Then one night I had a
dream, only it felt like so much more than a dream. It was about farming and all
we are to do with this venture in the future. I didn't tell my husband about it,
because I had already drug him through so many changes (we homebirth unassisted,
unschool the kids, the last doctor visit was the one that caused the autism in
my daughter - the youngest two have never been to a doctor EVER, etc, etc, etc).
Luckily, Michael is a pretty cool guy, and he has jumped right in on all of
these changes, but for the first time, he seemed really happy with his job and
where we were living, so I didn't want to spoil that for him. Anyway, abut 2
weeks later, HE brought the subject up. Turns out he had the same exact dream
the same exact night. Ever since then, everything has just been falling into
place. We KNOW this is exactly where we need to be, and this is what we need to
be doing. Interestingly enough, there are even roadsigns here that we had both
never seen before, yet we both saw them in the dream. So to us, it doesn't
matter what it takes, we are ready and willing, and we have never been happier!
My children are all thriving here, and just are absolutely in love with life. My
7 yr old has become so responsible since moving here. Half of the time she is up
at the buttcrack of dawn and has already gathered eggs and let the goats and
chickens out. She spends a LOT of time with the goats, she just can't get enough
of them. This move has been incredibly good for all of us.

I was going to answer everyone individually, but the task just gets bigger
and bigger as more people respond :-), so I thought I'd try and answer most
here.

I don't know exactly, but I am guessing that the dimensions of the manure
in the barn are somewhere around 25'x15', and about 2 1/2-3 ft deep. It's pretty
compact. On the first layer is a lot of fresh straw, but underneath, the rest
all looks like really black dirt. Basically, the previous owner just kept adding
more straw to the top to keep it from smelling (you can't smell goat poo in
there at all, unless you start digging around with the pitchfork a bit), and all
of the previous straw seems to be broken down. The barn floor is definately
dirt.
About worms, do you see them much in the winter? I haven't really seen any
critters around here other than wooly worms and lady bugs (by the TON! - which
is another question I have. Would this many lady bugs be an indication of
anything? I know they are good bugs, but it doesn't seem right to have so many
so out of balance with everything else), but we have only been here since Jan
1st, and have not seen the critter activity outside of winter.
The barn has a big access door for big equipment, just last week the
previous owner (who still stops by to help us when needed - they just live 20
minutes away in town) drove the tractor into the barn with a fork to put in one
of those huge round hay bales.
We do have access to a bobcat, but were toldthat it had been cleaned
out this way last time, and was not really much easier than doing it by hand (of
course, it was the wife saying this, while the husband was the one driving the
machine, so their views may vary!)

I guess the most confusing thing to me is exactly what we should do with
all of this manure. The previous owners have offered access to her fathers
manure spreader, but I honestly don't know if that is the best way. If we went
with that option, how would we get the preps (or remedies, if it makes someone
happier) into it? Do we do that while it is still in the barn - or build compost
piles outside and put it in there - or spread it with the manure spreader and
put them onafter it is spread in the gardenbefore working it in - or
50 other options we haven't even thought of?

I am curious about the pros and cons of raised beds. It seems a lot of
people do them, but I guess I don't really understand the full benefits. It
seems like a lot of work and money to me, which if they are that much better
would be well worth it, but I really don't understand the benefits of them over
just using the ground. I will definately keep an open mind about using them if
they are indeed better though.

We are not adamant about using the

introduction and a WHOLE lotta questions

2002-02-08 Thread Jennifer Rochester

Hi all.

My name is Jennifer. I don't know how much of an introduction is important
here, but I will give enough info to hopefully help you understand our present
situation anyway.

I am married to Michael, and we are parents to 4 terrific little
girls. We used to be pretty sheeple-ish, but then one of my daughters
became autistic due to her routine vaccinations. This was the beginning of
BIG life changes for us, in so many ways. We now no longer believe in the
'mainstream' medical model at all, as well as most things mainstream. I feel
like an alien left on the wrong planet with my family a lot of the time. We now
take care of our own 'medical needs', including birthing at home unassisted.
Life is so much better now.

Anyway . . . in doing some research about how to help my autistic daughter,
I came across info about Sally Fallon. Along came even more changes in our
lives. We now get all of the food we can find that is at least half decent
(if that :-/ ) and prepare it correctly (I have become quite the sourdough
queen, lol!), but we very quickly realized that in order to have truly
good food, as well as legal access to raw milk etc, we would have to produce our
own. So we began researching how to do this. We had a 5 yr plan to getting our
own farm, but fate had other plans, and we are now on a 72 acre farm in Northern
Kentucky, 4 yrs ahead of schedule. While we are absolutely ecstatic to be here,
we didn't get nearly enough time to research and learn.
Our plan is to have a 2 acre garden for ourselves this year, and hopefully
start a CSA type operation in the following years. Our biggest dilemma is that
we don't have much time to learn before it is time to plant this year.

I feel very drawn to biodynamic gardening for many reasons, the biggest one
being that it really makes sense and matches very well with our religious
beliefs (LDS). The problem is, there is just so much to learn, and we have so
little time!!! We are more than willing to do the work required to learn what we
need to, but I am wondering if anyone can maybe help us by telling us which
books and resources you feel are most valuable (I just got my first ACRES USA
and catalog, and there are SO MANY books I would like to get, but we have
limited resources and most especially limited time before this years
planting). I know that it will take many years to get the farm up to the
level that we would like, but I am also very anxious to make sure we are doing
all we can to make it the best it can be NOW, especially because nutrient
dense food is so important for my daughter in helping her to come out of her
autism. Is anyone willing to maybe help us with a quick study in what we should
be doing now? I am worried we are running out of time. I have been on this list
for only a month (which is as long as we have been here on the farm), and while
I am finding it very valuable, I feel a bit lost at times. I feel like an
elementary student dropped into a roomful of advanced chemists, and I am
floundering in trying to understand it all. I know that time will take care of
this, just as it did when I first started learning about removing the mercury
from my childs brain. I remember how lost I felt then, and now when newcomers
come trying to learn, it's almost hard to understand why they don't get it,
because it all seems so natural to me now.
Like I said, we are more than willing to do what is needed to learn all we
can, but in the meantime, it would be really helpful if someone could just say,
'look, here's what you need to do. You need to apply this particular prep at
this particular time, and here's where you can get it or how you can make it,
and here's how you apply it'. Is there somewhere where I can find what I need to
do in a simple format like this? I know we will enjoy spending years learning
all of this, but I really need something NOW as well, in a form I can easily
understand. I can learn all of the why's later. We have a whole barn full
of goat manure that is pretty well broken down (the previous owner had family
problems, and did not have the time to clean it out for two years, just kept
adding more straw), but I don't even know how this should be used. According to
the 'organic' stuff I have read, we would add quite a bit of this, but according
to the last note Hugh sent, we don't need that much. How the heck is a poor
beginner like myself supposed to know what to do?!? Something deep in my
heart tells me that I will find the answers here. I know that you all are very
busy people, but if any of you feel so inclined, I would GREATLY appreciate some
help, or at least a finger pointing methe direction I should go.

Thanks somuch!!! Wow, with so many changes in such a short time in my
life, I am really curious what could be coming up next. I am sure it will be
something that I have no clue even exists right now. I am just loving
filling my brain with all of thisnew info. I feel

Thanks for writing Manfred :-)

***You would no doubt benefit greatly from his book : A
Biodynamic Farm.***

This was first on my list already, with many close seconds.

***Incidentally, his 4-hr. presentation, "basic, and
advanced, biodynamics" was professionally recorded, and tapes are still available
i believe.***

Where could I find this? This would be good for my dh to listen to in the
car as well.

***Share your soil test results with the list?***

Ha! What soil tests. This we are working on. So, would the county ag
extension service down the road be the best place to get this from? We had
planned on this, but then put it off, as we weren't sure if there was a better
way, and didn't want to become confused with all of the fertilizer
reccomendations we are sure to get. However, if this is the best option, we will
just nod politely and then do our own thing (something we are getting to be very
good at in recent years).

***As for the goat manure, depending on how densely it is
packed, and how large an area it comprises, i would add, in place, the Steiner
remedies prepared by a reputable practitioner...***

When does this need to be done? Now - right before we plant - naked under a
full moon ;-) ?

***If you can afford the time, and you're short on funds
anyway, keenly examine what grows on at least some of the fields as they are
now. Note the types of weeds prevalent, and get a book... "weeds and what they
tell"...E.Pfeiffer, and ask further questions of the list, too. Leave them alone
till you need tobring them into "production"***

I will get the book. Nothing much has been grown on the fields here in a
few years due to the previous family having to take care of a dying
parent. Most of it is pasture, some alfalfa, and the rest I am not sure, just
whatever native plants have taken over. It will definately help to get them
identified.
We are only planning on planting the 2 acre garden area this year, so we
will have plenty of time to get the rest identifiedduring this next year.

***(What kind of equipment do you have?)***

I need to get out to the barn and make an inventory. I know we have 2
tractors, a hay bailer, and various other tractor implements, but I don't know
just what right yet. The previous owners left it all for us, along with 11
nubian goats, a herd of barn cats, about 30 chickens, and a completely useless
bunny which my children just love (which I guess makes him not quite
useless).

***Certainly abide as closely as practicable to the
planting/sowing schedule in the Stella Natura calendar, and learn what those
celestial factors are as you go along.***

Yeah, this is where all that heavy learning comes into play. When I start
reading the astronomy stuff, my brain fries up! I guess it just seems pretty
confusing to a newbie, so much to learn. I will definately follow the calander
though.

***As an alternate, or additional animal presence,... you may
have heard of the movable, human scale, "chicken tractor:"... basically
variations of a movable enclosure with a secure hutch included. These
aremoved bit by bit down the field, feeding and replenishing as they
go.***

Right. At the moment, the chickens are free ranged during the day, spending
most of their time in the garden area. We lock them up at night. Would this be
good to continue, or would a chicken tractor be better? Personally, I think it's
pretty cool to have chickens come running up to me everytime I or my children go
out the back door. They have really been a lot of fun.

***A byword is not to include manure from animals which have
conventional deworming compounds passing through them***

Not a problem. I got lucky in that the previous owner didn't use such
things. I thought I was the only other person alive who doesn't believe in
vaccinations at all, including for animals, but she was 'natural' enough that
the goats have been raised without vaccines, dewormers, etc. They are extremely
healthy too!

***Continue to ask specific questions. ...And thrill to the
inevitable variation of opinion/insight!***

ABSOLUTELY!
I love varying opinions/insight. They always help me to open my mind to new
ideas, or help me get clear and strong in my own beliefs, both good things, I
believe.

Thanks Manfred :-)
