Could this have been the case ? I got something similar when I had some issue in an earlier version of Custom Scan scan plugin in my development setup where I killed SBS process since the query never seemed to finish. If the problem doesn't disappear, you can probably get around it by manually deleting the squeezebox-scanner.db file but it feels like SBS should be able to handle this itself if we are only talking about the scanner.db. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). The packages index now lists 5.12 as the official perl for FreeBSD, it's been updated since I last looked. I suppose that means it's nearly time for FreeBSD 8.3. Bah. The SBS developers use specific module version which they take copies of, maintain and include, whereas the FreeBSD folks strive to have just one version of each module or library, and they assume that the latest versions don't break earlier functionality. This isn't always true. Which leaves our FreeBSD-addicted SBS community with two choices: go with the versions that the FreeBSD dudes put out and suffer the occasional breakage, or use the Logitech releases/nightlies builds and keep the old perl versions around just for SBS. It seemed a strange choice to remove Handheld though, seeing that a lot of the population these days has smart phones, and there's no Logitech Apps for them. Handheld was a simple, clean skin that worked well. I wouldn't have thought it would take much to maintain. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] playlist display broken?
Yes, I see the same thing, but only if I have 'Small Artwork' set in the browse settings (from the drop down list that appears on other pages). The display code for the web ui is intertwined in some really strange ways. I think what you're seeing is the result of some recent changes Michael made. I guess the questions here are: Do you want the playlist display controlled by that same text/small/large artwork setting? - If so, the drop down list of settings needs to be on any page where they're applied. Or do you always want small artwork? - Small artwork needs to have the same three-line treatment as in the current playlist, showing title, artist, album (and year?). Or do you always want text only? - For text-only do you use the Title Format setting or hard-code one? If you do use the title format, then you need to inject 'by ARTIST' and 'from ALBUM' when they're not in the format string. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89220 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] playlist display broken?
Thinking about it a little more... If you want the option of artwork in the playlist display, it would make more sense to use the 'show/hide artwork' setting used for the current playlist (or keep a separate cookie for the browse pane). And exactly the same treatment and logic for either text-only or three line small artwork. Both use the Title Format and add ARTIST and ALBUM if necessary. The text-only lists add it on the same line, while the small artwork display places them on separate lines. The text-only/small/large artwork setting in the browse pane should only be used for album lists. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89220 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.6 Browse differences
1. All Songs appears at the bottom of the list of albums, rather than at the top I brought this up during the onebrowser testing. It was always at the bottom in SqueezePlay and the ip3k interfaces, which works well in those cases when you have just one list. But in the web interface it's now located in an inconvenient place when the list is paged. I think it might make more sense to put it at the top of any list, but not include it in the count of menu items. e.g. on SB3, All Songs could be considered item 0 in the list, such that track num 10 is still the 10th item in the list. There's a similar thing that happened in browsing artists. 'Various Artists' used to be at the top of every page, but now it's only at the top of the first page. That makes sense. 2. Items 1 to 52 of 172 appears above the alphabar in 7.5, and the page footer contains 172 albums with 5150 songs by 3 artists.. In 7.6, this item count is in the page footer, and the album, song, artist counts don't appear at all. This treatment isn't so bad in most places. At least it will keep people from constantly bringing up some of the seemingly odd count differences. But I do miss the old counts in certain places such as the album and track counts that used be shown for an individual artist. I miss it - it was quite useful to know how many songs there are in the current list, before pressing All Songs, for example. 3. 7.6 seems to find different cover art, or at least searches in a different order. No, that was an intentional change made by Andy. It _should_ still prefer the old artwork filenames, but if none are found (and there's no embedded artwork) then the scanner selects the first image file in the directory (alphabetically, I believe). You may have uncovered a bug. I have a lot of other artwork in my album folders and haven't seen this yet. I think it's ignoring folder.jpg when they are windows hidden files. i.e. where Windows (WMP?) has fetched artwork and stored has hidden files. I'll replace these with better artwork (I haven't got many), but some are hard to spot, as it then picks up other non-cover artwork, so it's not a case of looking for albums with missing covers. I don't like it - I'd prefer if it didn't pick anything if it's not a name I've chosen for the scanner to find. It just seems wrong to auto-detect any old file as an album cover. Most times it will be wrong, and therefore not possible to query to find the missing ones :-( ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Yes, that's a well known bug in 7.6.0 that should be fixed in 7.6.1. You can also just unhide everything. Most times it will be wrong, and therefore not possible to query to find the missing ones And in practice I don't think it works very well due to the unknown dimensions of the 'random' first image that it finds. For example, if it picks up a booklet scan that is twice as wide as tall, it looks pretty awful. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89233 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
