I concluded the env variables don't work. The problem is the default
hash algorithm has changed too and this is a compile time option. (So
whilst you can change the seed values, the algorithm is different so it
is not possible to get back to the old order at run time)

Does the dac support DoP - if so specify -D on the command line to pass
DSD through to the dac.

Linux version is 32 bit and 64 bit intel already. There is no support

How are you running squeezelite (what startup options) - if you enable

Because it is based on the latest git not the Logitech nighties (which
is where the build string is added)

The squeeze on arch scripts for LMS 7.9 use git which is equivalent to
the latest nightly. I've split the install in two so that you should be
able to build the cpan modules once and then only rebuild the LMS script
regularly to get the latest update. (Or you could just use the soa web
interface to update to the latest version)

I suspect the problem is it trying to play at 352k then. I'm afraid
there is no easy way to configure a upper limit of the player bandwidth.

Its likely that it is using 176k over usb which is the problem as
lms/the plugin will try to send at the highest synchronous sample rate.
Afraid there's no easy way round that at present with the plugin.

PlayDSD has now been renamed DSDPlayer and added to the main plugin

install DSDPlayer. This will mean you see any updates that happen from

Can you enable player.source debugging and look at what appears in the

you should install it using the package manager for the device. For
example apt-get or yum, does the qnap have the equivalent of this? You
probably need to ask elsewhere for experts on the device.

This is really a question for the packager of the linux that is running
- the idea is that you install libFLAC from the linux distribution. It
doesn't sound like it is installed correctly?

Has anyone else tested the plugin and do you have any feedback across
the three supported platforms?

I am planning to make this available in the main plugin list, but there
is likely to be name change from PlayDSD to avoid it clashing with the
preinstalled plugin which a couple of lms distributions are using.
Unless anyone has a better name it may be DSDPlay - any suggestions?

You have resample settings on the DSDPlay player configuration page -
can you set this to the defaults (don't expect it to change anything

Don't really see anything wrong with this other than the rebuffering -
do you have enough bandwidth to stream at 88k to the touch? Can you
also try with the resampling settings set to the default to see if this
makes any difference?

If you try the latest LMS 7.9 version does this work?

This is without DoP set on the server? If so the server is supposed to
resample to the highest rate supported by the player. In the case of
EDO this would be 192k or 176k. Can the LMS machine handle the
resampling ok - is there enough cpu power and is the network capable of
handling it.

I don't currently see why the touch needs resetting if it is not doing
anything other than playing flac files (which is all it should be
doing). I wonder if the flac version causes a problem.

Is this with DoP or with the plugin converting from DSD to PCM. If the
latter case I don't understand why the dac would loose lock as the touch
should be producing standard output (assuming you don't have the EDO
applet installed?)

Can you confirm you have the most recent version of 7.9 LMS? The first
line suggests you do not have one of the LMS files. I wonder if it
needs to be added to the windows build script Michael?

Can you enable player.source logging from the settings, advanced logging
page and then post what the server log shows when you try to play one?

It looks like these files need a small change to the audioscan code - I
believe they may have a corrupt comment chunk at the end which should be
an even length (well won't work with the current audioscan parser).
They do play though with squeezelite and dsdplay.

Sorry - no DST compressed .dff support at present in the server, dsdplay

I have updated the linux version to avoid using openmp - if you want to

supports intel 32/64 bit.

Has anyone tested the windows version yet?

Sorry there was a problem with a dsdplay in the wrong place on the Mac
version. Could you uninstall the plugin and then reinstall it. I hope
it will find dsdplay with the updated version.

For what its worth - no high pitched noise on Boom for me. Is this for

Thanks - so we are getting somewhere...

DFF vs DSD - could you do a wipe and rescan - I think using browse music
folder may have some limitations.

On the high pitched boom - I wonder what it is resampling too and if
this is causing a problem. There is high frequency noise in DSD, but
with sox resampling to 44,1k I would expect this to be removed. Perhaps
we should look at the resampling configuration.

libomp.so.1 not found is likely to be a problem... Can you look to
install this for your machine. I need to look at the build of
libsoxr.so.0 to see if I can disable that. Otherwise try installing
libsoxr on the machine if you can and renaming
/mnt/cache/data/lms.79/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/PlayDSD/Bin/i386-linux/libsoxr.so.0
to something else.

I don't see anything wrong with that - can you run:
ldd

Does it give any error messages?

Do you have libFLAC installed on the machine?

OK so when you try to play a file what log messages do you get? Suggest
enabling player.source logging at info level and see what this says when

That sounds right to me.

Have you done a full wipe and rescan to clear the database from any old

What player is this for - it should say that it is using dsdplay -
native will only work with squeezelite.

Can you check the version of Audio::Scan shown on the web information
page (settings, server information, in the block about Logitech Media
Server Status at the top). If it is 0.94 then DSD files should be
detected, if it is 0.93 then they won't be.

You are running a recent version of 7.9 LMS (I assume so otherwise the
plugin should not load). The code to scan the files should be in LMS it
is not in this plugin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 and DSD

2014-06-14 Thread Triode

Sorry for the delay in responding to this - there is now a downloadable
plugin for 7.9 which should support DSD playback with windows, mac and
linux (i386/x8644 only)

I would be grateful of a few testers before I make this available from
the default plugin page.

To test:
1) Add the following url to the additional repositories box at the
bottom of the plugin page

Code:

  http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml

2) Install the PlayDSD plugin.

When the server restarts there should be an additional PlayDSD menu item
for the settings page for each player. This will allow you to enable
DSD over Dop support if your player supports 192k playback or higher.
The plugin will convert DSD to PCM if your dac does not support DoP -
you can adjust the resampling parameters from the settings page. They
are the same parameters used for resampling by squeezelite.

[If you use squeezelite then you will probably prefer to use the native
DSD support in squeezelite rather than this plugin]

Native DSD support is only with "squeezelite" which is a software
player. There will be a plugin to do conversion on the server from DSD
to DoP. I'm afraid I have not got round to releasing that yet.

I've added a mechanism to the build script which allows us to override
the maxTarget on a per instance basis. We should be able to add entries
to the include.xml file to define how this is used. Please let me know
if it does what we want...

If we play with the repo build script then I think we should consider a
couple of other things:
1) should we just have a repo.xml and get rid of the other.xml (i.e. get
rid of the idea of recommended and non recommended plugins?)
2) should continue to be hosted on mysqueezebox.com? We could always
host a mirror elsewhere and include the link to that in the server
release? [the code will cope with a newer version overriding an older
one]

For the build script - do we want to override maxVersion by exception?
Also do we want to validate if all repos are really contributing working
plugins?

I believe 7.8.1beta should be < 7.8.1, so it would be possible to use
the current version comparison with the relevant values of the server
and plugin maxVersions.

That said I don't really think there's enough plugin activity to change
this as most of them are 7.* as max version, so perhaps all we really
need to do is exclude any clearly broken ones from the main repo in the
build script?

need to work out why.

Phil - this is a different error from Jim's as that does not crash the
scan process, just cause reading tags to fail. We should make sure we
keep them separate as I read Jim's problem as something cause file
reading to fail but the code recovers itself as designed and does not
cause a crash in that case.

Don't think those are related.

Anyway try r32566 for the original issue...

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.6.0 ip3k - Quick list navigation is broken

2011-06-28 Thread Triode

Yes its broken... The issue is that the list is sorted using the sort
key and this excludes thinks like "the" in the title. However the code
which is skipping forward is using the actual text value to search for
the right item, so it will tend to stick at an item if the next one in
the list has "the" at the start of it.

I think it will be relatively easy to fix.

The os may be able to cache the database file in memory if you are not
doing anything else and it fits? This may explain the difference. Are
you really restarting the OS from scratch each day? Sounds like the
underlying problem is the performance of your server machine + size of
your database...

I don't see this on linux.

Are you able to start the server from the command line using the same

of the following shows:

./slimserver.pl --perfwarn=0.1

or

./slimserver.pl --perfwarn dbaccess=0.05

The first one will log to the console all actions taking more than 0.1
of a second, the second one only db activity but taking more than 0.05
sec

I think the live text may be another problem at the BBC end. Please
post on here or the main 3rd party plugin forum if you get any more

this as it looks like its generating erroneous data at present.

Alan,

I've noticed that with onebrowser on the web interface, I can't browse
into an album with my spotify plugin. I think this is because the type
'playlist' handling is different from before - I want to be able to
fetch the url, parse it and display the list when clicking on the album
cover art. Clicking play is fine, its browsing into it which is
deffernt from trunk.

It will work if you turn on "proxy streaming" for the player. I'm

For 7.5, the first firmware used for firmare based scrolling is:

Thanks for testing - I do think it should be more stable in terms of
resource usage on Radio. It is a rewrite in a different language which
will go faster, but has more chance of there being a bug which impacts
things hence the reason to ask for people to test.

It is but the metadata I use for displaying the bitrate says 128k
unfortunately. I need ask the BBC about this...

I have a new version which I will post soon and would be keen on other

[SlimDevices: Beta] Looking for BBCiPlayer/BBC Radio users with Squeezebox Radio to help test...

2011-02-06 Thread Triode

Hi,

I'm looking for a couple inteprid users of my BBC plugins and who don't
mind ssh/scp files onto their Radio to help me test something I'm
prototyping.

The aim is to make flash/aac stream more stable on Radio by changing
the way the code works. If you can help test please read below...

All I'm really looking for is for people to try the following steps and
then report what the stablity of flash/aac stream is following the
update.

Attached is a couple of files for radio which are a new implementation
of the rtmp handler (the software which runs the rtmp protocol
necessary to receive flash/aac streams). [They move the complex part
of the protocol from lua into C to make it faster and create less
memory problems]

In the attached zip file are two files: rtmp.so and Rtmp.lua, please
scp these to your radio and put them in the following locations:
/usr/share/jive/jive/audio/Rtmp.lua
/usr/lib/lua/5.1/rtmp.so
sync and then reboot your radio

Then make sure the BBCRadio applet or BBCiPlayer plugins are set to use
flash/aac streams (and for the plugin then the server is set to direct
streaming for remote streams to the player).

How stable are flash/aac streams once you have done this? Are they
more or less stable than before? Do you have any reboots or other
events?

Thanks,

Adrian

I tend to think firmware versions should have consitent version numbers
across server versions... This may mean skipping version numbers but it
will be better to make sure the automatic firmware version update
process at least knowns when a version is not up to date.

(at present a 7.6 firmware version which does not support player based
scrolling will treated by a 7.5 server as if it does and be sent
display messages which it will not understand)

For the server side case, the server code contains some protections -
it won't send a scrolling frame if there is congestion on the slimproto
connection for instance. SB1 will lock up if you send too much
slimproto traffic, SB2 and above are better.

For this case, I can't really see a problem other than setting the
update frequency below the ability of the timer to service it on the
player. I don't know if this will be down to timer resolution or the
cpu load.

BTW - sending lots of display update frames used to be the way the
network test plugin worked... This goes to much higher rates than is
useful for scrolling.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Move Scrolling logic to Squeezebox Firmware?

2010-11-11 Thread Triode

I don't have access to the client code, but I would expect client side
scrolling to be lower cpu load than using the server to do smooth
scrolling at one pixel increments, which several people do... With
client side scrolling the client will deal with less slimproto frames
and hence less network traffic.

[the server side code including updating progress bars & elapsed time
updates was was written to allow a client scrolling implementation a
few years ago - I'm pleased to see it reaching the top of Andy's
priority list :)]

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Upgrade all in applet installer ?

2010-05-22 Thread Triode

So a "Update All (X)" menu item which appears at the top of the menu
list and which does all the updates and then reboots?

Sounds reasonable to me - quess its down to me to do this... Will send
you a patch to try out Erland.

Don't know the details of clarkconnect install, but essentially log
into the server and stop it. Find the location of slimserver.pl which
is the server and run from the command line with:

slimserver.pl --perfwarn=0.5

You may need to run the above as the same user as slimserver normally
runs and so there may be some other command line options (which top
will normally tell you)

What's the server? Could you run the server from the command line with
--perfwarn=0.5 and see if any tasks are reported taking longer than
that (this is the old perfmon functionality you are missing, but just
on the command line!)

Hum - yes that's something which needs fixing, we should really install
to the same place as the settings files so we have write access.

No it's never been included in the windows build. There is also another
problem with the windows build which will prevent applet installer
working. I will fix this and then may post a sha1.dll here for you to
try - may be a day or so.

Looks like the windows version does not include one of the new features
added to applet installer. That file is no built by the windows
version.
