LMS should already transcode FLAC to PCM for DLNA clients, no extra work required... Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Implement SPDY into LMS?
We are big fans of SPDY and have thought about upgrading some of our protocols to use it in the future. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] DLNA and transcoding
To transcode files via download, you just construct a URL like /music/$id/download.mp3?bitrate=320 The extension provided after "download" determines the desired format, and the bitrate param is valid for MP3 (a quality param is also supported). Obviously you will need LAME installed. andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94837 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.7.1 Beta Problem with Wav files via upnp
Hmm, can you do some additional tests with AIFF files? Convert a WAV to AIFF (should be fairly easy) and see if that works. Also test FLAC and ALAC if you can. You can also set the network.http logging option to DEBUG mode which will log the transcoding command being used (along with a ton of other stuff). -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92053 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Well, there is absolutely no Squeezebox integration with Revue and none was ever really planned once we found out Android can't really support decent audio playback. The plan to turn SBS into LMS came about for a couple of reasons: I figured we could get the time to provide a decent DLNA server (a long-requested feature), and part of the reason was also the hope that it could help keep the server alive & supported if necessary by working with another higher-profile Logitech product. Ironically, now the Squeezebox seems more popular within Logitech than the Revue, but it sure didn't look this way a year ago. Anyway, yes, video and image support kinda sucks but we tried hard not to break the Squeezebox or music experience. I have a lot of ideas to make it better but like everything there just isn't enough time or resources. Yes there are bugs but I would disagree that it's being "rushed" out the door. We've gone through 6 release candidates and had an extra month due to Revue update delays, this is a lot better than our typical releases. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91021 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS video/picture scanning performance ?
If you guys want to do some experimenting, you can comment out the various thumbnail options that are created for every image/video. This is probably the source of most of the slowdown. I think I mentioned this before, but right now each thumbnail is generated from the full-res source. Music thumbnails are optimized and are generated from the next-highest thumbnail size. This will be coming to image/video thumbs too but I ran out of time. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS video/picture scanning performance ?
Yeah, scanning performance has a lot of room for improvement. Images are slow because the current way thumbnails are being generated is not the fastest (always resizing from the original instead of the previous thumbnail). Same issue with video, although the original is usually much smaller than a multi-MP JPEG. Also for video we are limited by ffmpeg performance. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90573 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.7: Does it transcode?
I fixed the PCM issue, it was streaming in little-endian instead of big. DLNA will probably never officially support FLAC because it's open-source, although they have recently added Matroska support, so who knows. It will depend if any big players get behind it I think. But this is mostly not a big deal, you can still stream FLAC to something like the Oppo since it will recognize the content-type. [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.7 build updates & schedule news
7.7 builds are now available for all the standard platforms. The Windows builds are now built using ActivePerl 5.14.1. http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.7 Various modules have been updated to newer versions on all platforms so that we could use the core 5.14 module versions on Windows. If you provide a 3rd-party distribution you will need to look at updating the following modules. The below list is likely to be stable through 7.7 release. Media::Scan 0.01 is still in development but will need to be included with any 7.7 3rd-party package as well. Be aware that it can be tricky to build and has a lot of dependencies. As always please refer to the buildme.sh script for details. 7.7 release is currently tentatively scheduled for late September/early October with RC1 planned for mid-September. [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.6.1 RC in the morning
I just fixed my last targeted 7.6.1 bug. I will put out another announcement for the official RC build tomorrow morning, but if you want to get a head start, please give 33079 a try. Michael may have some other minor fixes to make so the RC may be a newer version than this. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89614 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SQLite WAL in 7.6.1 - please test
The shm/wal files don't stay around unless you've force-killed the server or it crashed. You can just delete them. 3rd party plugins should never care what the database filenames are. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89450 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SQLite WAL in 7.6.1 - please test
We think the bug on Windows with filenames has been fixed. Please give r33068 a test when it shows up on the nightly download page in a few minutes. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89450 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] DB content comparison
7.6 has changed a bit, for example the artwork IDs are now hex instead of integers. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89539 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scanning performance 7.5.6 vs 7.6.1 with WAL
The performance can be improved by enabling exclusive locking again, I'll look at this once there are no other WAL issues. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89513 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Well the bug was a SQL query, so that's why. :) I hope you are doing most of your testing with SQLite btw. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89450 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
