Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] web interface doesn't connect

2008-02-27 Thread Triode

Re startup issues, you may get some useful debugging info if you start
the server from the command line with --perfwarn=0.5

On windows I would expect the artwork cache purge to report that it
takes a short while, the question is how long?

Jim,

Please file a bug and upload the log file there. If you could enable
network.squeezenetwork and network.asynchttp debugging (watch your log file
size...) this could provide additional information.

Yeah, but it's lacking the first part of my posting: "I think the OP and you
are seeing different issues here." One was talking about startup issues, the
other about slow scanning.

Could it be cache maintenance that's being done on server startup?
Maybe the artwork thumbnail cache has grown to such a large number of
(unused) files that a simple cache check takes minutes on a fast
system.

This is going to be a huge problem when SC7 is released if that's the
case. You can't have the server take minutes to start up and become
responsive.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] web interface doesn't connect

2008-02-26 Thread ModelCitizen

I don't run firewalls within my internal network and nothing had changed
in networks terms for at least the last thirty nightlies!
Whilst trying to get it going again I re-installed last nights nightly
and then the night before... rebooting each time (out of desperation)
to no avail. Then I reinstalled tonights nightly and deleted all files
in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache\MySQL

(which includes the 10mb ibdat1 file) and rebooted.

The files I deleted seem to be recreated almost instantly and then all
was fine. No rescan required.

Which can't be correct. So maybe I was mistaken about deleting them?

I haven't seen any mention of work with the cache being done at

This just happened to me again. I shut down SC7, did an SVN update,
then restarted the server (running as a service under XP). It took an
unusually long time before anything was displayed on the nearby SB2
screen (maybe 30-45 seconds, when it's usually less than 5), then I saw
'Now Playing...'. Tried connecting to the web interface, but it never
loaded a page. After several minutes - looks like more than 3 1/2
minutes, according to the the log entries - the Default web skin
finally loaded. No scan was run on startup, as the scanner.log remains
empty.

Attached is the tail end of the server log with everything set at the

Yes, and I don't get it either. The Squeezecenter icon will be in the

but it will not connect. My Netgear router shows the Squeezebox as
connected as well. If I unplug the Squeezebox and go through the steps

This seems to be a more and more commonly reported problem with
SqueezeCenter 7. Has anyone figured out yet whether it's the new skin
barfing or a failure on the server end?

I see it myself sometimes after restarting the server. If you attempt
to load a page of the web interface before the server is ready, it will
often hang in the browser - sometimes with the 'loading' animation,
sometimes before any part of the page loads. Trying to reload the web
page for some reason doesn't clear it. I generally just restart the
server.

Is the only difference between rebooting immediately and turning the computer
on next morning a few hours? I don't see why it would work when rebooted but
not if shut down for a few hours. Am I missing something in what you're doing?

When it doesn't load, is it still running (see task manager)?
