Re: [Blind-Computing] Message rules in outlook 2003

2008-06-22 Thread Negoslav Sabev
This is what you can do. Go to tools/rules and alerts. Shift tab till you
land on "control listbox" field where you rules list is and choose a rule,
then tab to "change rule button menu" and press down arrow. Be sure that
"move to folder is checked" and "copy to folder" is not. Remember, this is a
menu, so you activate and diactivate options with enter, not with space.
When you press enter to activate move to folder, a dialogue simular to the
one in OE will show to let you choose the folder you want you messages to be
moved. Choos it acordingly to your rule. When you do and press ok button,
you're back on "change rule menu button". This time you can press up arroe
and you'll land on "rule settings" option, just press enter. Press enter
till you hear "finish rule setup, step one.". Tab till you reach "Turn on
this rule" and check it if it's not checked and press enter again. Again
you're on the "change rule menu button". Tab till you reach "control
listbox" field and choose the next rule in the list and do the same for
every rule in this list.

Re: [Blind-Computing] files not downloading to where I want them

2008-06-22 Thread jason smith
Hi Patricia,
I did think you could just highlight the desired folder to download into.
However, for some reason, that hasn't been working for me. Next time, I am
going to try opening the folder first like Rick suggested, and see what
happens. I wonder why it works for some systems but not others. Strange
creatures these computers are sometimes "smile".
thanks Jason

[Blind-Computing] list archives

2008-06-22 Thread David Ferrin
Unfortunately since there is no real method for me to manage the list archives,
meaning I can't remove older files without my provider doing them for me I have
decided not to archive list traffic locally any longer. Not to worry they are
still being archived on the free service, so that hasn't changed. I just didn't
want my web space to fill up is all.

Make sure you are actually on the program executable icon and not the
program folder name.
Press enter on the program application and see if it launches the program.

[Blind-Computing] Collapsing while in conversation, Outlook 2003

2008-06-22 Thread Chris Feist
HI all. I'm using Windows XP and Outlook 2003. I really need to group
emails by conversation. That part is easy. However, when I do that, then I
can't collapse the emails at all. I go to expand collapse groups in the
view menu. The choice to collapse this group is unavailable, so Then I
choose collapse all groups. But collapsing never works when I have it set
to display by conversation. The same result occurs on two separate
computers, both using Outlook 2003.

I used to be able to make this work easily when I had an earlier version of
Outlook but no longer. I don't know why others can do this but I cannot. I
desperately need help with this so I can more easily delete mass off topic
emails which are on other lists. I'd appreciate any help to resolve this.
I don't know what could be keeping Outlook from collapsing the emails when
it's set to display by conversation only. After all, it collapses find when
it's set to display by date. Thanks so much.

Chris Feist - The one and only!

What's the hot key going to be used for?
If it's going for your jaws you can set up a hotkey for jaws in jaws itself.

Yep, you could be right that there may be a difference between XP Home
versus Pro. Did you have Office 2003 or did you obtain it somewhere? I
know at some point I am going to have to upgrade but I like to keep my home
computer set up the same as the office one for continuity.

Up until recently, I was using Office 2000 and Windows XP. That was not a
problem until I loaded Service Pack 3. Apparently, some of the changes
created by that modification make Outlook 2000 no longer accessible. The
program is there but it won't open at all.

There are patches available from Microsoft on the Office page but they
don't seem to work. My only choice was to upgrade to Office 2003. As soon
as I did, Outlook became accessible again.

Office 2000 including Word, Outlook, Excel and so on was a very popular
program in its day. However, if you are running Office 2000 in your XP
machine, you might want to keep the problems we had in mind.

[Blind-Computing] Problems creating a hotkey

2008-06-22 Thread Debbie Bugella
Hi:

The only way I can create a hotkey on my laptop is first create a shortcut to a
program on my desktop and then do it from there. If I go to all programs and
press the application key nothing happens when arrowing down except going to
the next menu Item. I have used the application on the laptop itself and the
regular application on the wireless keyboard. I have also tried using shiftF10,
but nothing happens either. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know,
Thanks, Deb.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Problem with Windows Explorer-Please Help Me

2008-06-22 Thread David Griffith
It does not sound great.

You might need to do a repair or at worst a reinstall of windows. It is
always best to make a registry backup before cleaning the registry. Did you
do this? If so you might simply have to restore the old version of the
registry and this might solve your problem.

[Blind-Computing] Message rules in outlook 2003

2008-06-22 Thread John Justice
1Now here's an interesting situation. I copied the message rules from my
Outlook Express to Outlook. But there's a problem. The message rules
won't stay active. Is there a way to set up the system so that the rules
are applied each time? In addition, the messages appear to be left in the
In Box and copies are sent to the various folders I have created. I checked
to make sure that "copy to folder" wasn't checked and it isn't. I like
Outlook in so many ways but it is really a strange beast.

Is anyone familiar with this system enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It doesn't allow duplicate entries. Of cource, if you have 2 cards of one
person, but with different e-mail addresses, I think it will split them to
two entries.

It doesn't allow duplicate entries. Of cource, if you have 2 cards of one
person, but with different e-mail addresses, I think it will split them to
two entries.

It will just be one address book, in alphabetical order.

Hi All,

When transferring an address book from one computer to another and you merge
one address book into another, will the address book then be 2 combined
address books with duplicate entries or 1 address book with single entries
all in alphabetical order? I hope i'm making sense. If you all can
decipher this your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Hi Rich,
Try the following path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites
Owner may be your name , on your system.
You don't need to copy what is in the folder, just copy the folder itself,
the contents will go with it.
Once you have it copied to the clipboard, you can paste it to a flash drive,
and then transfer it to the other computer
where you can use the same method to put them on that computer.

I have XP and 9.0.
I have been wondering how to transfer my favorites to another computer.
When I tried your approach, the favorites links did not go through.

I can't seem to copy the addresses from my favorites page in I.E. then
transfer them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks!

I had found the files there. Originally, tried pasting them in an e mail,
but that obviously didn't work.

Another question; What is a "flash drive"?

Re: [Blind-Computing] files not downloading to where I want them

2008-06-22 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Jason,
While you are in the download dialogue, when you get to, My Documents,
press enter to open that folder, then arrow to the downloaded software
folder you created.
Once you have located that folder, then again, press enter to open it.
Now, continue thru the dialogue as you normally would.
Keep in mind, this will now be the default folder for all downloads, whether
they are software or not.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] files not downloading to where I want them

Hi list,
I was downloading some software the other day. I got the software fine, but
I have a question. I have created a folder in "my documents" called
downloaded software. I want to be able to choose to have any software I
download, to go into that folder. At the moment, when the save dialogue box
comes up, I tab to "download to" and choose my documents, as the other
choices aren't what I want. However, if I tab again, I am put into a list of
all of my files in "my documents". I decided to select the "downloaded
software" folder I said I created. I then pressed enter on the download
button. The software did download fine, and appeared in "my documents"
folder. But it appeared just as another file next to the "downloaded
software" folder I wanted it to go into. My question is, in the future, how
can I have the file download straight into the folder I want? For example,
if the next download is software again, how can I choose to have it download
straight into my "downloaded software" folder? This would save me having to
cut and paste it later.

thanks Jason
