Windows Live Messenger is all I use. There are a couple things you have to change when you first install it, but it's simple, and once it's done, you never need to worry about it again. I have a question. How come when I do a quick recording I can only record one audio output and not, say, Foobar2000 and JAWS? You may be asking why the hell, but it wasn't like this in Total Recorder. Is this a demo limitation that I wasn't aware of? Hello, Drumguy. 1. Go to gmail.com. 2. Go to the link that says "Sign up for gmail" 3. Enter on the link and the process is quite straightforward. Note: there is a visual capcha but there's also an audio one as well. There's even a link that says "For more help with screen readers, click here". [Blind-Computing] Removing Certain Folders with $$$ Signs
I think I read on here someone wanted to know if it was ok to remove folders with a $$$ sign in front of it and wanted to know if I in fact heard that or was I like dreaming? I have notice several of such folders on my C drive the first being, $$AVG but also found many more under the Windows on the C drive and these have the same thing with the name of the folder and at the end will have the word uninstall. Several of these are to do with xp service pack 3. Just thought I would ask the list here regarding this matter before I did something I shouldn't and deleted folders I had better left alone... If you constantly get the error message, "internet explorer is not responding," here is how you can fix this problem. 1. Start - Run - regedit 2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer BrowserHelper Objects 3. If you get there, you will see a few keys(they look like folders) that are in numbers and alphabets. Delete all of them. This should fix the problem. JAWS 8 will work with Word 2007, although not quite as well as JAWS 9 and 10. I can't vouch for the other Office 2007 applications,but I imagine JAWS 8 will work with them also. Office 2007 uses a new ribbon menu system that's somewhat confusing and difficult to navigate, but JAWS 8 will still access all the menu options. [Blind-Computing] Accessible NetBook Computers
I am considering getting a small NetBook computer running either Linux with a screen reader such as Orca, or Windows running JAWS for times when my wife and I travel and don't want to haul around heavy laptops. I would appreciate hearing of any experience people have with running with speech on such a computer or if you might have specific recommendations as to whether or not speech can be used with either a Linux or Windows based NetBook computer (such as one of the Asus models which can be purchased for around $200, have about 4 GB of memory, and weigh about 2 pounds). Hello all. I just ordered a Dell computer which will have Microsoft Office 2007. Someone told me that Jaws 8 may not work with this program. miranda is really not that bad once you get it configured it's just a pain in the ass to get going at first. I think I tried the accessible one a while ago and had good luck with it as well but now am just using the knewest updated version with the scripts and the dll that is needed. Only thing I had trouble with is getting the sounds configured with the msn part of it but that's just because I wasn't sure what sound needed to go where as there are alot of different options for attaching sounds to. Hi All, I am trying to find out if Dragon Naturally Speaking is accessible with Jaws . Is anyone currently using this program, or have used it in the past? You don't need JAWS scripts. Go to addons.miranda-im.org and search for clist_blind Then, download the zip file, unzip it, and copy the DLL into the plugins dir of Miranda. It's something like C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\Plugins if you have it installed. Then, delete the clist_classic and all the other clist_whatever.dll files, and put the clist_blind.dll file in there. There ya go, a screen reader friendly Miranda IM. I did such a turtorial a while back for the JAWS friendly Miranda about two years ago, I believe. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'l send it to you. it's in MP3 format. Hi Lino, The problem is that she wasn't asking how to do it from within the Jaws window, she was asking in general, if I'm not mistaken, Your message also never mentioned that you had to be in the Jaws window to get the version using that keystroke. The Miranda program and scripts for the program can be found at www.jfwlite.com/programs The scripts are for JAWS 5 and 6, but might work with later versions of JAWS as well. To get the version of Jaws you're running, you have to press insert+J, then up arrow to about, and the ensuing dialog box will tell you which version of Jaws you're running. [Blind-Computing] Setting Up Audio
Hi. maybe some one can walk me via off list to how to set up my audio. having some problems setting up the levels for my audio card. and my mike, which is linked to my web cam. thaink i have solved my web cqam problems, and just says a unknown device, and know that is the usb controlelr for the web cam. but, if any one knows if there are usb controllers on http://www.isd.toshiba.com.au using a toshiba a300 psa g4a. and if any one can help me with this. to set it up, and downloaded the real tech audio drivers and installed it. installed once fine, but tried to install it again, and it chrashed. and jaws crashed. and still getting the noize and low hum and rumble when in standby mode and on start up still the clicking on and off pitch sound in vista home premium. so if any one can help me. let me know. cheers Marvin. Hello Lino, I'm afraid that keystroke only tells you the version of Microsoft Windows you're running, not the version of Jaws. Also, the icon on the desktop doesn't tell you anything if you've got both versions installed, as both icons will be on the desktop once you install the other versions. Not everyone uninstalls the older version Lino.
